@@ClutchKickOfficial Needed a reliable daily driver that I could enjoy on weekends. Plus I wanted to buy outright, not lease or finance. This car felt so much more special than any of its competitors and it hasn't given me any headaches at all. I've heard some nightmare stories about German long-term reliability lol
I tried M5(F10) twice and still think my stock GSF's handling is sharper... I also put Ohlins on it recently. Now my GSF becomes as fun as Farrari and as reliable/practical as Toyota!!!
The steering wheel camera angle is next level.👏👏 I will agree that there is something appealing about this old school powertrain that makes this car special.
J High It’s amazing what some tape and a GoPro can do! The old-schoolness is very unique. Got to respect Lexus for that. I typically like an old school approach to cars and this is such a great blend of old and new.
Proud 2016 gsf owner here. When you drive it feels like you are driving special also test drove an m550i and even my younger 21 year old brother said it felt bland.
I've seen a hundred reviews of this car and this one is my favorite, very honest and talks about the stuff that matters except you left out the most important reason to by the Lexus, reliably and resale value. They don't break.
Thank you for the feedback and glad you appreciated the honesty. I didn’t mention reliability because I thought that it was implied but it’s a great selling point as well. Cheers.
You know what intrigues me. People talking about all the tech the car’s infotainment has but at the end of the day they are probably using google maps on their mounted phones.
Since when was the last time we use the car gps? Never! Lol. All the extra techs are for them to make more money from buyers. The only tech we care is premium audio system
This car is very underrated in my opinion, oh it's very old, it doesn't have the power to compete with its rivals, so and so but one question I have always asked is that when are you able to use that horsepower, on the road except you are on a track or highway 600 hp would feel like 200 on a windy road or in the city where the car would spend most of its life, but one thing that would never fade is the driving experience, and that is what the Japanese do well, They might not make the most powerful cars or they might not have the best tech but the driving passion is almost unmatched, cars like the BRZ/GT86 and the Miata have shown that you dint need 600 hp to have fun, you need communication between the driver the car and the road to have fun and enjoy, that is why a Civic Type R can beat almost any sports car on a track despite being fwd and having less power than them
Great review! I tested a 2016 GSf last weekend and wow was I impressed with it for all the reasons you mentioned. It just feels so balanced and special. And a total sleeper! I am not the type of person that wants every Scatpack or M5 to be constantly challenging me on my commute. But it’s sure nice to be able to smoke someone and watch their face change because they absolutely had no expectations of that capability in that family sedan -ish package.
Bought my 2016 GSF a year ago after nightmares with BMW at 50% discount from MSRP. Plan on keeping it for good...especially now with it discontinued after this year. My mechanic has one too and said nothing goes wrong with them mechanically.
Given the price difference, it is a true m550 competitor since it I undercuts the M5 by more than $30K or so. Also, those cars are 400 - 500 lbs heavier than the GSF. That is why Lexus compares it to the m550i. It does extremely well against the m550i. It is superior in almost every way to the m550i except the 0-60 mph (but, GSF accelerates faster at higher speeds).
Plus, the 2020 M550i has the upgraded 523hp and 553lb-ft with a great AWD system... don't forget the tuning capabilities of that specific motor as well👍. BMW you lease GSF You buy😎
I love my 16 GSF and look forward to any excuse I get to take it out. I want to keep it for a very long time which is another reason I love Lexus. I’m a 10+ years type of car owner.
This particular color scheme, with all the extras (ML sound system, cold weather/heated steering wheel, passenger side memory) is especially appealing. Make all the wheels the same size (Lexus will do that for you) and I'd make it my daily driver in a heartbeat.
What's funny is you can buy the exact car in the video (the exact car, VIN confirmed) at CarMax. They've had it listed for almost a year now: www.carmax.com/car/19273399
I’m saving money now , for exactly the same car and I might just keep my gs200T for my daily , this car cost a lot less than bmw and Mercedes but then when it comes to maintenance expenses I will win and got extra cash to blow , ❤😂😂
Excellent and insightful review! Numbers do not tell the whole story... which is why I’m currently searching for an Ultrasonic Blue GSF. Was lucky enough to go to a Lexus track event and drive GSF&RCF pretty hard. Very capable cars that are reliable. Highly recommend both for those who want an everyday performance car!
I currently own a 98 gs400, lowered with nice lexani ice 20s. Still be seeing ppl look at me like is that a 2010 model. Nope 98 with 1uz fe vvti baby pushing about 320 hps rite now
I had a 98 gs400 and loved that car. It was a quick car for its time. That generation was the last of the real Lexus where they were always trying to stay ahead. I ended up moving to Audi years later and now I have an RS3 which is amazing! Ultra quick with AWD and an amazing sound from the famous 5 cylinder turbo.
Not just because it's reliable, it's the fact they didn't get suckered into the turbocharged, higher fuel efficiency trend. Lexus focused on sensations rather than rational sense.
@@ClutchKickOfficial Yes Sir. You can buy the entire kit at RR RACING. It has made my car into a new animal haha. I’m planning on going full e85 kit on it. They put down between 720 to 750 to the wheels. You can even search on UA-cam GS-F supercharger and you’ll see the videos.
You can do burnouts. Sport++ mode with traction disable puts it into expert mode then set the TVD to Track. Also to note the chief engineer of GSF worked on the legendary Supra markIV. The GSF is tuned to be abused on the track so yes it’s HP/torque do not compare to m5/AMG BUT it can be regularly taken to the track unlike a 550i.
This car shouldn’t be compared to other cars cause Lexus does things it’s own way and is not competing with any other car. Instant classic I’ve no doubt
Also, I think I love the GSF so much because - let’s be honest - the 550i range of performance is all (more) than I could need on a daily. But I don’t love that those are not the “top tier” cars. They therefore don’t get very differentiated styling, or sport seats. Those two things would make me want the M5, taking bmw as an example. Here, you get the best of those things with a level of performance that you can dip into a bit more on the road. Oh, and it’ll just run.
To be honest, a lot of BMW’s have started feeling like Mercedes these past few years and they’ve only just now started to get back to where they used to be. It’s been kind of sad seeing BMW go through an identity crisis. Meanwhile, Lexus has been developing a great, unique style of their own.
What's the age group buying these cars? I'm 57 and stepped down from a ls460 awd to a gs 350 awd because I wanted something a little sportier. I like the gs but would love the power of the gsf.
Your age! I’m 52, prior owner probably 62. Most expensive car I ever bought, yet having driven LS sedans over 10 yrs plus for each. and paying maintenance on out of warranty 911, figured this way best choice, especially when I saw higher resale prices for IS F 2011+ and Chevy SS than I could accept. Experience tells me I can probably drive this 5 yr old car with 30k miles till retirement….
Great review! Favourite car is an e92 M3 - however the more I review and look into Lexus as a brand - a GSF seems like the ultimate daily driver ....now just need the funds to buy 😂
Hesko 1 I hope so too because I've really enjoyed seeing how cheap the 2016's have become. Incredible value when they're a couple years used but I fear you're right... the discontinuation may drive up prices.
I have a 19, yes I know it’s not the fastest. I used to own a Isf back when they came out so I knew what I was getting at. Yes m3/m5 , Amg are faster but this is so much fun to drive. Sounds amazing and I can expect years of fun. Look up ISF you will see then in 200k mile driven and still drive like new. Can’t say the same for any German car and I m not even talking about Performance models.
Great review, great car. Would love to see how you think the rcf is in comparison. I’d love a gsf but there really aren’t many used ones available. RCF is much easier to find.
Great comment and thank you for the positive feedback! I have driven the RC F and I was very pleasantly surprised with it. Everyone said it sucks in track, too heavy and understeers too much. But for a street car, I think it’s more than enough and it definitely has some of the same magic as the GS F even though the GS F is a little sharper and better tuned at the limit. Me personally, I kind of want the old IS F but that does not have as much hp as the newer cars despite having almost the exact same engine.
Clutch Kick Thanks! Agreed I’m tempted on ISF. Wish they made a current gen one. Realistically I’ll be shopping in about 1.5-2 years and by then I think I’ll just want the more modern car. I think RC F’s have a bit more depreciation ahead so this could work out great. Thanks again!
Finally, someone else has said the truth, that's why i loath german cars, I drove a bmw 340im, in sport mode, and steering was so heavy, but it's so numb, I can;t feel a thing through it.

Great car but it cannot beat the M5 in term of performance and techs. That’s why you don’t see too many on the road. This is more of a m550i competitor.
i just i have to say that ( Turbo is a bad idea that cost a lot of money when its time for maintenance which means a new one ) so I'm not a fan of turbo and the requirements that will keep or give turbo longer life to last longer are annoying so. please. people. do yourself a favor. and research Turbo reliability and maintenance cost before buying a turbo vehicle.
If you consider the lifespans, this car should be compared with a new E300... My GSF was a 6 month old used car in 2017 . So, it should be compared with a new C300...
@@ClutchKickOfficial Sorry. I meant my GSF could be as cheap as a new C300 as my GSF could last twice longer than a new C300 if I kept my GSF for at least 15 years...
You guys all another person’s review then use the same useless complaints about the Lexus GSF/GS350 f sport and the number # 1 is always the infotainment system which I find very easy to use. I went after market and added Apple Car play now I have the perfect car.
Sounds great, steers great (other daily cars are 911 manual and Boxster), and no rattles on 5 yr old car. Launch into hyperspace ability in a car often overpowers driver appreciation of a car’s merits (hence, for 911, I prefer lower models over the Turbo).
Kayan Mak Not a location issue, jacket material issue. My camera man was cold so I gave him my regular jacket which doesn’t have the excess noise issue. You can check our other videos to see what I mean. Thank you for the feedback 🙏🏼
No hate towards Lexus owners but this is such a downgrade from an M. A proper competitor would be an M550i considering they're way closer in price. Nobody considering buying a GS F has enough money to buy an M5 let alone an M5 competition, it's in an entirely different tax bracket than someone in the market for a Lexus. 4.5 seconds 0-60 is incredibly depressing when compared with the M5's blisteringly fast 2.8 second 0-60 and it's constant pulling at higher speeds. And the look of the car on the outside is dull and boring; it looks like a regular sedan that I could see my grandmother buying. An M5 demands your respect on the road and you'll be glancing in your mirror thinking "wow, is that really an M5?" vs not even noticing this.
One important thing though, IT WON'T FAIL!!!!
Bought one of these about a year ago and it's the best decision I've ever made

i just i have to say that ( Turbo is a bad idea that cost a lot of money when its time for maintenance which means a new one ) so I'm not a fan of turbo and the requirements that will keep or give turbo longer life to last longer are annoying so. please. people. do yourself a favor. and research Turbo reliability and maintenance cost before buying a turbo vehicle.
I'm in a gs f sport once this is paid off gsf here I come .
This car is faster than the old gen paanmera gts v8... tell me how thats slow
? Panamera GTS had higher top speed and more than half a second quicker to 60...? This is a weird comparison.
pussycat
If you consider the lifespans, this car should be compared with a new E300... My GSF was a 6 month old used car in 2017 . So, it should be compared with a new C300...
What the heck are you on about?
@@ClutchKickOfficial Sorry. I meant my GSF could be as cheap as a new C300 as my GSF could last twice longer than a new C300 if I kept my GSF for at least 15 years...
M5 or gsf
You dropped your camera bro 💀
Guillermo Hernandez Brakes, break, get it?
Damn if you don't want it, give it here.
Marvin Did you watch until the end or...?
I’m not feeling the taxi yellow color 🚕
Fun fact: other colors are available.
Clutch Kick you don’t say I would of never figured 🤦🏻♂️
I take it in blue
I’d take that yellow over my silver
This car is more reliable than the M is, but not better in any other way.
Эта машина рулится лучше чем M.
Lexus, which abolished this car, can never catch up with big names such as Mercedes and BMW.
Abolished? What?
@@ClutchKickOfficialThe 2020GS has been discontinued and there are no more high performance cars to compete in this class.
Ey SAC gang
Eyyyyy.
You guys all another person’s review then use the same useless complaints about the Lexus GSF/GS350 f sport and the number # 1 is always the infotainment system which I find very easy to use. I went after market and added Apple Car play now I have the perfect car.
? what after market part?
Personally hate the new style grill to bumper look.
It is definitely polarizing.
Gs f nice car but rc f is quicker in the 1/4 love the f cars
I’m loving the 467 hp.
Necessary Evil It's enough to have fun and is actually useable.
Supercharged GS F to around 600hp, imagine that. Lexus missed a trick. M5 and E63 is a different ball game, GS F does not come close.
Sounds great, steers great (other daily cars are 911 manual and Boxster), and no rattles on 5 yr old car. Launch into hyperspace ability in a car often overpowers driver appreciation of a car’s merits (hence, for 911, I prefer lower models over the Turbo).
Japanese American are both of them

Move your mic in the future. Bad spot for this vid
Kayan Mak Not a location issue, jacket material issue. My camera man was cold so I gave him my regular jacket which doesn’t have the excess noise issue. You can check our other videos to see what I mean. Thank you for the feedback 🙏🏼
I abuse the crap out my lexus and it doesnt break
That's that legendary Toyota build quality.
This is not a review, it's just a dude whining
Quality wise it is performance wise it's not
TheCarSection TheCarSection Driving is so much more than performance figures.
Lexus are more reliable than bmw's.... i wud chooze the lexus but i wud add a supercharger tho!!
Interesting choice
It is noted in the video it's closer in price bracket to an M550i.
@@ClutchKickOfficial Ah, well that would make more sense then.
