The 2020 Lexus GS-F isn't great -- but it could be, if you buy it in a few years. Today I'm reviewing the GS-F, and I'm going to show you why it's not so great, and why you'll want to wait to buy one. I'm also showing you all the quirks and features of the GS-F, and I'm going to drive the GS-F to show you what the Lexus GS-F is like on the road.

It aint Ralph tho. Like I said I'm not saying the M5 is better than lexus gs F in term of relibility. Just saying if I'm going to put my money on a luxury performance car, I'm going for german no matter what. I'm not like those people who have $30K and spend $30K on a car. As a M5 and C63 owner, all the things Doug mentioned that makes the German cars technologically superior to the GS-F are the exact features that ironically makes them unreliable. If I’m paying $90,000 for a luxury car I expect it to be reliable and not some pretty machine that’s gonna break at 50,000 miles. Also if reliability was so meaningless in luxury cars then why is Lexus doing so well in the luxury car market?!!!!!??? Obviously some people care about reliability in their luxury cars.
People who buy luxury cars new usually only want it for less than 5 years. Long term reliability isn't a concern for them.

Lexus never developed a turbocharged V8 engine for any of their cars, and they don't seem interested in getting into that market because of cost and lack of clout.

I don’t even think money is the issue with unreliable cars. If a car doesn’t function, it’s not serving it’s purpose and the owner can’t enjoy it. For example, the Giulia QV. Great car that most wouldn’t own because it’ll be spending more time in the shop than on the road.
@@svein-haraldribland8559 Having spare money to spend on an unreliable product will not adequately compensate for the inconvenience and heartburn caused by car problems, especially if one is fastidious about his / her car.

I have a GSF and it’s awesome 80k miles and swear to god it is getting better! I have no reason to lie. Clean your knees.
I’m really sad about the GS being cancelled. It’s a really underrated platform. It handles way better than it has any right to. I think if 60% of people who bought loaded out ES’s just test drove the GS, they’d have spent the same money on a GS because it’s just better to drive
yeah my uncle has a 2018 GS350 F Sport and its good
I'm in the market and really sad that GS has no replacement, ES is an FWD and the NA V6 is all great and reliable but it lacks all the solid built in Japan like GS and the NA V8 with real massive Metal Intake Manifold, Metal Valve Cover, RWD platform advantage, superior handling. I hope I can find a great used GS F. This NA V8 will outlast any junk piece of crap that BMW or German dumpster fire VW pukes on. Shame. Now ES is going to lose NA V6 as well, the last run of NA engines at Lexus are now almost dead. The IS 500 F Sport is no GS F and the Apron issues on IS 500 are annoying plus GS F had Leather Interior with V8 IS 500 has Nuluxe nonsense, very very sad.
Eh, I have a GS f sport (pre facelift) and it handles okay. I think you're overselling it.

You're knocking the power compared to the Mercedes but Lexus reliability is light years ahead of Mercedes. I'd take a reliable Lexus with less power than a Mercedes always in the shop!
That’s not true lol. Maybe a Mercedes thats 15 years old but newer Mercedes has really no reliability problems at all. Also, warranty.
Actually according to most websites like Consumer Reports the Mercedes cars are actually surprisingly reliable.
i mean worst comes to worst you could get a gsf slap a rrracingsupercharger on it make little over 700 to the wheel on stage 3 and still be cheaper then a new m5 or e63
@@g32k And after the warranty they are not worth a lot.
@@g32k *Yet. These newer Mercedes are only a year or two old, the only way you can compare their reliability yet is if you go on a Europe road trip. I'd rather wait 5-15 years to talk about reliability.
Always interesting to hear "not enough power" "slow" (4.6 Seconds to 60) when you are not allowed to drive faster than 75 miles :) Writing from Germany.
Well you can accelerate super fast to 75 miles(+ exceed 10 mph) and have short burst runs here and there and there are some places where you can break the rules without risk of consequences.
*I’m American and this was explained to me a while back.* Speed Limits are way lower in the US so way more people are inclined to break them, so the theory is that you get the fastest car you can and let it run!
Vasi Vallis Official Band Channel yes, its slow. everything is relative, you’re thick headed.
He’s talking when compared to the competition. He’s also saying it because performance sedan buyers have great German sedan choices that give you lots more power. Also we have 47,000 miles of interstate Highways vs 8000 in Germany with the Autobahn. With 500 percent more highways in the U.S., you have a better chance of finding an open road.
Danny Vale speed limits are not slower than average in the US. In fact they are faster than most places: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_limits_by_country#Countries
This is the most confusing car review ever !!!!
No it's not, it makes perfect sense.
This car is not worth the new car sticker price. It's totally outdated compared with it's rivals at the same point.
It would be a good car for maybe 20k-30k less, which is what it will cost used in a year.
David Topchiev Why you say that? Just curious.
How it confusing. Don't buy new. Buy after 3 years used. It's not even half a twitter post.
David Topchiev you sound triggered lol
@David Topchiev Dude chill... Do you not understand his point? You can get an M5 Tesla Model S p100d or AMG New for this price. They are all far superior for performance and technology. However this car will keep running when the M5 and AMG have constant engine problems...So buy the car in a couple years used for half the price...
Ina few years it ended up getting even more value . Not only can’t you find one. Those who have one know they are bulletproof proof vehicles ,absolutely awesome.
So I've owned my 2017 GSF for 3 years. I drive it on the track, family and baby around.
Normally I like Doug's videos alot. But I find this video very shallow and disappointing. A sports car is not all about HP and Torque but balance, brakes, chassis.
Go watch Chris Harris's video on the GSF for a better review.
THIS!!!
butthurt?
Absolutely this. Clarkson also reviewed the GSF and rated it more highly than an M5 or M3 ("this flawed old-school charmer has them beat"). Matt from Carwow also compared it to an M2 in drifting and the GS won easily. Doug seems to be on his own in this one, although I don't doubt a lot of people in the comments who have never driven a GS will agree with him.
Apothecary Terry - No, Doug is spot on. Clarkson made those comments nearly a decade ago. He wouldn’t make them now with an overpriced outdated GS-F against the latest M3 and M5.
@@Z06ified The car's handling and sound haven't got any worse. It is a previous generation car so I do agree that it's not the right new car for many people now but this review still seems oddly biased- I'm a Doug fan and it surprised me. Bear in mind that he rated the RCF handling better than the GSF which I'm not aware of anyone else ever having done- it seems pretty unanimous elsewhere that the GSF is far superior to the RCF and yet Doug clearly disagrees (which he's entitled to do but it's very surprising). He also loved the sound and didn't complain about the power of the same engine in the LC500 but not in this, yet it's virtually the same (10bhp more, same sound). It's not just about other brands, the review seems harsh compared to even other Lexus models.
