I love these every day usage videos! 🍀 After taking a lot of chinese classes at uni and having grades kind of crush my hobby of learning languages, I found it really difficult to start up again after graduation. I ended up taking a 1.5 years off my hobby. Thank you for helping my interest inch its way back to being a hobby again! And thank you for your wonderful and hilarious videos!!

🍀 sooo well-done! i don't usually leave comments under videos, but yours are always so entertaining and useful to watch! i've been studying chinese in university for 2 years now, and i always refer to your videos when i have questions our teachers are unable to explain. thank you for your hard work!
Very helpful for me, I have been speaking Mandarin for over 40 years but only occasionally. I learned it while living in Taipei in the 70’s. I did learn to read and write, had private tutoring for less than 1 year. So I’m actually illiterate, I can only pick out a few characters in each sentence for example. My parents in law spoke Mandarin that was why get to use it whenever I was with them. Since they have both passed, I am using your lessons so as not to forget the language.
Highly intelligent videos that are very helpful for conversational ability, especially for those who are not learning to read and write. Many people like me pick up a language from just listening, and some may even give the impression of being fluent in it, without being literate in it - and I think the videos are on this channel are perfect for us. Thank you. You seem to understand the learning brain very well (perhaps due to your medical training?). Surprisingly I have not found much medical vocabulary and usage on this channel but I believe that will come. 😊
2:20 is where the learning material starts the first 2 minutes are good listening and hanzi review though, I don't regret watching that, it wasn't time wasted.
🍀 I downloaded du Chinese straight away because this is exactly what I've been looking for, I am transitioning from pinyin to hanzi and its so hard to find content that has both! Thanks shuo ☺️👏
🍀 I more like her now. Her teaching is way more practical compare to boring text book. I feel very entertaining and nothing boring on her presentation. I determine to watch all her contents, I say serious because now in Malaysia due pandemic, I need to work from home and I will have more free time that I could study all this. Laoshi Shuo, Thank you very much for your sharing expertise through UA-cam. By the way I am your new fan from Malaysia.
🍀I need to watch this again...and then probably again. Still learning the basics, but fun to "offroad" to different words and lessons sometimes for a nice change 🍀
🍀🍀🍀 This was a really good one. Going to rewatch in a couple of days so it sinks in. But… you didn’t translate “how dare you” for us! Is it idiomatic to say “你怎么敢”?
🍀 I really liked the content and format of this video. I managed to learned many new words and examples. Please make more videos like this, I think a lot of people will find it useful as well. Thank you!
Qishi and 实际上 corresponds more to as a matter of fact. In German the word is eigentlich. 特地 tèdì can go for particularly. 总体 can be translated into by and large or primarily or largely. 普遍 can be translated as ubiquitous or prevalent o dominant.
I definitely come to UA-cam to study, along with my books and lessons I like to mix up with videos. This video was awesome, I’ll be rewatching and making notes. Thanks!
Great video as always! I've spotted a little mistake at 11:18, the pinyin for 中 is written as "zài". In any case, thank you, looking forward for the next video!
🍀 Thanks, I watched it all, and put the new sentences that I learned in Pleco! Thanks so much, now I know how to use Honestly, Specifically, Generally and Actually! :-)
Thank you for the content. I love this kind of videos, please make sure to make more of this. There are a lot of words in Chinese which their translations in English are quite obscure. With your video, I can now identify the differences.
🍀I like your videos, you explain very well. The only problem I have is that living in Taiwan, I’m only familiar with traditional Chinese characters, so I have to look up the simplified characters.
从这视频我认识到 :- 1. 其实 qí shí ( actually ) 2. 实际上 shí jì shàng ( in fact ) 3. 真的 zhēn de ( really ) 4. 具体 jù tî ( specifically : in detail ) 5. 特地 tèdì ( specifically : emphasis ) 6. 专门 zhuān mén ( specifically : exclusive ) 7. 说实话 shuõ shí huà ( honestly ) 8. 一般 yī bān ( generally : normally ) 9. 总体 zông tî ( generally : accuracy ) 10. 普遍 : pû biàn ( generally : widespread ) 11. 所有 suô yôu ( generally : as it has ). 谢谢老师。
Her English is very clear too that helps a lot!!!

The more casual way to say "to be honest" is 老实说/坦白讲/讲真,and 通常 is another equalized word to 一般.
