Hi, welcome to ShuoshuoChinese 说说中文,my name is Shuo, I’m a native Chinese teacher living in Bangkok, Thailand, I’ve been teaching Chinese as a foreign language for seven years and I’m also a language learner.
In this channel, I will upload a video every week talking about Chinese vocabulary, Chinese grammar, Chinese culture, Chinese stories with pinyin and English translation for listening practice.
In my channel, you can easily understand complicated Chinese grammar, sentence structure, and difference/nuance between similar Chinese words.
If you are a Chinese beginner, I’m planning to upload videos about what is Chinese language, how does it different from English, Chinese pronunciations, Chinese characters and Chinese strokes sequence, and mini Chinese course (10 minutes per day) for beginners which can help you learn easily and quickly. Don’t miss it!
So, subscribe my channel and start your Chinese learning journey!
Wow a cool explanation, I found that everyone in youtube explain them quite differently and this is one of the best explanation.
I need to watch every video you have made. This content is incredible and so, so, so much better than what I learned in my formal education. They never explained things this well. I won’t skip the ads because I want you to get the $$. Thank you! I gave up learning Mandarin but I’m going to try again. I wrote some characters last night and I still remember so many of them. Yay!
谢谢:)
这是最好“把“的说明! 感谢了。我终于把“把“明白了。
I wouldn’t tell you who it is but you have dethroned my number one Mandarin teacher. You are one of the best teachers online today. You have all the boxes checked
I wish I had you as a teacher when I was first learning Chinese - such a concise and thorough explanation! Thanks Shuo 🥰
I love your lessons. You are a natural teacher. Fun. Clear. Effective. I even love all your hand motions when describing things. :)
I’m starting to learn Chinese and you’re making it so much easier to understand. Thank you so much!!!!!!!
thank you so much, you've saved my skin for the next exam! i'll be watching more of your channel! logical and clear explanations!!
Thank you very much, i am German and your videos on 了 and 把 really helped me understand。 I never understood 了 because nobody had explained it properly like you before!
I study Chinese by myself and watch a lot of teaching videos from different channels. I usually don't write comments. However, this time I have to tell how great your videos are. You are a real teacher ! The way you teach make it really easy to understand and I can tell that you had put effort into it. 謝謝
I love how you use the equation to make this so easy to understand!
看博主的视频当听力材料真的很不错,现在发现我的听力已经能够支持我看完你的所有视频了
you made it so easy to memorize. Thank you very much. the best ever explanation on UA-cam
YOUR GRAMMAR EXPLANATIONS ARE ALWAYS REALLY CLEAR AND, ONCE MORE, I HAVE ENJOYED YOUR VIDEO...THANK YOU SO MUCH!
such a nice explanation, I've gotten stuck in it for weeks, thank you very much.
Very helpful video! I am still learning, so take this explanation with a grain of salt.
I think of "ba3" as meaning "unto", in a sort of archaic English structure. "He unto the book threw it in the river". 他把书扔了进河里. The explanation in this video really makes sense- it is most important to know that what he did to the book was throw it in a river. If a group of people are throwing things into the river and someone asks- "what did he throw in?" then maybe it is more important to say "I threw a rock into the river. He threw a book into the river" 他进河里扔了一本书. But if your teacher asks what happened to your book, it is more important to convey that it ended up in the river.
If someone asks what did I eat for lunch- "I ate beef." 我吃了牛肉. If someone put beef in the fridge at work, and then it isn't there when he goes for lunch, he might ask "what happened to the beef?" He ATE your beef! 他把你的牛肉吃了!
I think there might a be of a loose correlation with definite and indefinite article (a/an versus the), where if you use the indefinite article, you might care more about the verb- "what did you giver her just now? I gave her a book." 我刚才送给她一本书。 If you use the definite article, you might care more about the specific object- what happened to the book? I unto the book gave it to her. 我把书送给她了。 In that example we already know what the object is that we are talking about, we want to know what happened to it.
I'll bet that knowing Latin (which I do not) would make it much easier to understand because all the case endings requires a lot more thought about the role of each part of the sentence. A great example of this is in Monty Python's Life of Brian, when Brian tries to write graffiti that says "Romans go home!"
Best chinese teacher EVER ❤️❤️ keep up the the good work
谢谢!
Your explanation is concise and clear, love it. Thank.
I'm learning chinese as a beginner. So this kind of lessons are really helpful. 谢谢!
Thank you so much for making my life easy and such a good explanation for 把 structure, May God bless you
Your are a really good teacher! I'm so glad I found you on UA-cam! Greetings from Mexico! 加油!
Thanks for your teaching
❤ Thank you so much for the 140 most used vocabulary pdf you kindly provided for free. It is very useful indeed. I have already subscribed to your channel. Also you look similar to the famous Korean actress Park Shin-Hye. Watching your videos make me feel like personally having Chinese lessons with her. ❤. Also your lessons are very good, useful, and easy to understand. 🎉❤
I learned so much in this video!! Even more than just ba. Your videos are so easy to understand! You're the best!
Had totallyfailed to understand the use of ba and no one was making it clear...now am good to go.. 谢谢很有用❤
This character has brought me much confusion over the past few days. Luckily I found this video and now everything makes sense. Thank you!
Wow I discovered your channel one week ago and I´m smashing it!! Really useful, clear and funny explanations, thanks a lot. After one year living in China and learning by self study - under stressful need - I start to understand many basics now hahaha
Thank you and congrats :)
Thank you for the video. You make it clear and easy to understand
Very good explanation! You are a real pro! Chinese is not easy for foreigners, but you make it much simpler. Thank you!
There's actually a similarity with latin languages in this. When you said "我把手洗干净了" I thought that even in Italian (my mother tongue), if we wanted to put the emphasis on the *action* of washing hands, we would change the word order and say "Io le mani *le ho lavate* " instead of "I ho lavato le mani". Meanwhile in English I would just change "I washed my hands" to "I *did* wash my hands" to have the same emphasis on the action.
Hai ragione non ci avevo mai pensato! Geniale !
I’m Italian, thanks for the analogy
很容易明白的说明。 终于,我清楚这个语法了。谢谢你!
Thanks a lot for your simple & coherent explanation. I finally got it 😘😘😘
Shuo, you know what makes your teaching better than anyone else's? Use of illustrations 😁 The police officer has to move the Object. To convey past, present, and future you have to take a time machine. You're brilliant 👍 Why does it have to be a police officer? 没关系。无所谓。For some reason it works.
Hi Shuo 老师, you're videos are very really good, you explain very clearly. You inspire me to learn Mandarin, thank you for all the things you have done.
What a great lesson using 吧 grammatical structure! I love a good refresher of the basics of Chinese grammar! Keep up the good work! Great video, audio and explanations!
Keep nerding out on teaching Chinese!
Thank you so much!
把
I was really struggling with this concept and this video helped sooo much. 谢谢老师!
Excellent pedagogical approach.
我给你说,我在中国16年,我已经学习8年左右,我有一个HSK4级,马上去考5级,从开始学习到现在你是第一个老师可以给一个很清楚的解释-我非常感谢你的帮助

Thank you so much for give us a simple explanation of using 把🥰🥰and also want to know about the future tenses in chinese, its so confusing that when we have to use 会and要. 🙏
The explanation is very clearly and completely. It is very useful and interesting also. I will follow up all your next lessons. Thank you very much.
Thank you for supporting :P
我终于明白怎么用*把,
你解释很清楚了,
谢谢老师😊
Thank you so much!! I started studying some sentences with 吧 last week and it was a nightmare to me! This video really helped me to understand it better!!
Greetings from Spain! 🇪🇸🇨🇳❤️
By using ba, the Chinese sentence structure becomes similar to Spansh.
S + O + V.
*把
thank's very easy to understand. Explanation quite clear
As beginner, I’m still confused when to use “ba”. This video certainly helped, 多谢Shuo老师!
best explanation on yt, 谢谢你!
it's finally so clear! thank you!
Great explanation. Thanks ✨
i have finally understood the use of 把。thank you so much for the explanation
您的课很有意思。。加油
I remember when I first started learning Chinese, I memorized "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." Upon retelling the story from memory, when I got to the end of the story I accidentally used "把" instead of "被", which greatly changed the moral of the story - "男孩子把狼吃掉了" haha
非常有用,老师。谢谢你。
感谢您!我现在知道,把怎么用!
把 has the meaning of 'take, grab', so it's helpful to understand the sentence '我把xx (object) xx(verb) 了' as 'I took xx (object) to its end status of xx(verb).' in order to emphasize the end result. '我把咖啡喝完了’ means I took the coffee to its end result of being finished off. It's counter intuitive in english, but it's used very frequently in Chinese.
But like I thought you use it because the impact is important. Like the example she used. 我把手洗干净了. That brings the action last. Unless the reasoning is that the last part of a sentence is the most emphasized.
Thank you sooo much finally
understand it now .
last year in the class two of my teacher coulnt explain ma like your way now i got its clearly thanks
Amazing explanation, thank you so much
I don't even study Chinese properly, and I only know a sad few words and expressions. BUT I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS and I watch them for fun!
It could be like saying "I took your candy and ate it". 😁 This is how I formulate 把 sentences in my head. 😎
Thanks a lot! I really like how you structured this video. Solid examples, too! I liked the video so much that it no longer has 420 Likes (my favorite number), but 421! Keep'em rollin', 说说!
another great lesson. I didn't know how to use this correctly. thanks laoshi!
You are the best 😘🇧🇷
以前怎么没有您这样的老师呢
Your videos are wesome. 我终于知道怎么用“把”了。
amazing, simple and effective.
你“语法”教得非常清楚啊!祝贺你😍
My translation of preposition 把 is direct object, meaning that the object is known and specific, and not unknown and general.
我喝水了: I drank water. (Some water, generally when I was thirsty)
我把水喝了:I drank the water (you gave me, that was on the table).
Not really
Great explanation!
I know it's not the same, but there's a similar feeling to English informal sentences which have the structure "take this and..." or "get that and..." "take that and put it over there" It's not a common pattern in English but the feeling helped me to not be so confused by "ba"
This was a very useful video, thanks
Amazing video!
Do you have any video about 被?
I'm here to learn Chinese but I get 2, Chinese and English.. thank you this is really helpful
可以讲一下“把”和动词重叠吗
you are the best!! thank you so much ❤
Hi! Is 好 also a resultative complement? I'm new to chinese and I feel like 好 sometimes carries the meaning of an action being compleated, done idk how to describe it it's just something that I noticed. Your videos are great, I know that some people think learning grammar is useless but if you ask me the language learner just has to balance it correctly
This video is gold
谢啦 你的课 最好的 我的老师
Wow this is actually perfect and exactly what I was looking for! :)))))
super helpful video!!! 谢谢老师!
Let me throw in something for you to ponder on and perhaps change your mind. The verb “to render” can be used to simulate the word ‘bah’. For example, in your drinking water phrase, the English translation might be: I rendered the water to be drunk.
The verb “to render” describes or emphasizes the adjective “drunk”.
Of course, that is an odd way to construct an English sentence but it does make sense and can sometimes change the emphasis of the meaning.
I cannot imagine using the word "render" like this.
Wow, good explanation. From a native english perspective I can totally understand the usage of 把 now.
I am a native English speaker of 70 years old, I have NEVER heard anyone say " I rendered the water to be drunk" nor would they !!
Of course you wouldn’t say render like that in English. Not the point here. It is to illustrate how CHINESE language syntax is formed. There are often no direct translation.
Chris Ng thank you for your clarification, my knowledge of chinese is very limited, so I must bow to your superior knowledge
You´re amazing and genial teacher..XD, ¿teacher geek? You´re marvelous teacher...
Hello Teacher,
Can you please leave the words on the screen longer for us.
Also please translate what each word in the example also so that we know what it mean. Thank you
i like using ba
Chinese and English have the same sentence structure of S + V + O. By using the word "ba", it becomes similar to the latin languages' sentence structure of S + O + V.
Which latin language uses SOV?
