    In this video, Dr. Berg talks about the causes of split ends(Trichoptilosis). The hair is made out of protein and is covered with the oil called sebum which is loaded with vitamin E as a protective thing against oxidation.
    Causes of Split Ends
    1. Heat
    2. Chlorine
    - It destroys the sebum in the hair
    3. Deficiency in Trace Minerals (Copper Deficiency, Zinc Deficiency, or Iron Deficiency)

    This explains a lot. I lived near the sea, and never washed my curly hair in tap water. Sea, just made it look great! Never had split ends back than, even people keep saying that sea salt is bad for hair. When I moved and started to wash my hair with tap water, I started to have split ends.

    I never colored my hair, I don’t use any heats like hair dryer or iron it, And I have split ends and it feels like my hair only gets to a certain length and stops growing. I don’t know what shampoo to use and I also never trim it.

  • @debdo1960

    I've been a hairdresser for 40 years. Chlorine can NOT be washed out of the hair with regular shampoo or plain water. Malibu and Matrix makes a shampoo that removes the chlorine and I highly recommend it to all swimmers.
    Split ends always happen due to environment and can only be eliminated by cutting them off.
    A healthy diet gives you good hair but will not stop you from getting split ends. Oils and other hair products are a temporary fix but will not mend split ends. The split will continue up the hair shaft....so a good trim of at least a half inch every 6 to 8 weeks should keep your hair in top shape.
    Use ponytail bands WITHOUT the metal as this damages the hair shaft as well.

      Biotin works great for me. I've also heard pregnancy vitamins (w biotin) can make your hair grow like a weed.
      Get a satin pillowcase to reduce frizz.
      Avoid heat styling as much as possible. Otherwise, invest in a good heat protection spray.
      Once a week, I soak my hair overnight in a DIY oil mask. Then in the morning, I do a thorough shampoo & deep condition.
      For my oil mask, I combine any oils that i have on hand: coconut, argon, avocado, jamaican black castor oil, etc. You can get the two of the easiest to use oils at trader joes: argan oil is $6 and I think coconut oil is also $6.

    I can’t tell you how beneficial the shower 🚿 filters are for your entire health . After I got mine I stopped getting cystic acne completely ! If you think about it the chlorine heated in the shower turns your bathroom into a toxic bromide / halide gas chamber ! This exposure every day was a huge contributor to my overall toxic burden and bc I have so many compromised detox pathways due to my gene mutations ( MTHFR, CBS , COMPT , DAO for example ) the chlorine removed from my daily showers helped me on so many levels . It was a dramatic and quick to see results . And I thought it was dairy that was solely causing my symptoms !

      Romae Daley, we have hard water too, and had issues with my hair drying. I switched to a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner that contains glycerin. I also add a few drops of glycerin to my damp hair before styling. I stopped using hair styling products that contain alcohol or salts. It has made so much of a difference, but mostly adding the glycerin helped.

    One additional thing,
    I remember seeing those television commercials about the hot oil treatments,
    And if I remember that correctly you would soak a few of these plastic tubes in a container of hot water for a while and after the oil inside was warmed up then the person would apply that oil to their hair;
    I never had the need to use that stuff;
    So I don’t know what else is involved or if that stuff was beneficial or not??;
    My personal feelings is that proper diet , exercise,
    And let’s not forget about some really good sleeping habits all play major roles in the health and vitality of a person’s hair???;
    I’ve typically noticed that a person who is in good health also has healthy hair too ;
    So good health to everyone 👍

I do also love jelly sweets and jelly beans which Ive not had since Christmas. Yesterday i ate coconut COOKIES and OMG is it normal to get a headache from carbohydrates? I have one today! So bad that i'm not IF/OMAD today and I've just blended a lime, spinach, savoy cabbage, celery and tomato with a shake of turmeric and black pepper. I added coconut water and filtered water too 50/50.

      Age plays a role... loss of fat from face, but starts to gather around the middle. Loss of collagen directly under the skin. Smoking can make skin thin and wrinkled (skin seems to lose density). I think uv does something similar to smoking. Keep up the good fats in your diet, lessen sugar and carbs. Sugar and carbs are what feed the belly fat. The good fats (nuts, avo) have vitamin e which is good for the skin .
