Mr. Sandman - Win By Decision

- Ever lie awake in bed staring outside at the stars pondering.... in Punch Out, what would it look like if you would beat Mr. Sandman by split decision? I have... well, not to that extent, but here is what happens if you get a win-by-decision against Mr. Sandman in the NES version of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!. Of course, this is not possible in the normal game. I changed the minimum WBD points from 999,000 to just 100.

It's almost like they were wanting to allow victory by decision, and started working on his lose pose, but decided last second not to, and just left it in there, half finished.
If I had to guess, anyway.

They wanted to allow him to lose by decision, but since when he's stumned he guards his face, they couldn't make it so he stands up and makes the face without part of his glove covering it.
They could have just drawn a new frame, but didn't

@vestoras It's funny that you can't beat Mr. Sandman, King Hippo, or Super Macho Man by decision...but you CAN beat Tyson/Mr. Dream by decision.

As would be expected his loss by decision animation is a cut-n-paste from Bald Bull. It just happens to be one of the few cases were Sandman's art tiles don't synch up with Bald Bull's art tiles.

You can't win the fight versus Mr. Sandman by Decision, as there are two fights, the other being Super Macho Man, that forces Little Mac to win by TKO as there are instances where the player will have to watch out for unfair decisions against Little Mac in the NES version.
You can't win by decision against King Hippo either. The decision is determined by the number of points the player scored, and the number of points needed to defeat King Hippo is infinity. It means you didn't even knock him down once.
@@johnanderson9765 And if I remember correctly, Don Flamenco has a HIGH value, I think the highest of the non-decision boxers in the game. I think it's *possible* to get a decision victory on Don Flamenco, but you'd have to be REALLY good to the point of just TKOing him anyway.
@Vincent Verona Okay, but the video on UA-cam I see even says in the description that it can't be done on the normal Punch-Out. The person who posted the video somehow changed the rules by lowering the amount of points needed to win by decision.
@@Supperdude9 This is an old comment, but I managed to beat Don 2 by decision the other day. I was beating him pretty badly though, I just narrowly missed the TKO and he didn't wanna stay down for 10. I didn't think it was possible, I actually almost reset before Mario gave the decision.

Has to be done either with game genie or just opening the ROM in an editor and changing the value.

@wceagle4life You also can't win against the first Piston Honda and the first Bald Bull by Decision--the first Bald Bull was a big pain in the ass--unless you know how to beat his bull charge, you're in for some blood and guts.

The game isn’t use to wins by decision, so it got confused on what it should do
No it's because you normally cannot win by decision on the fight with sandman but this guy hacked it to see what would happen
@@JT_26King Hippo also cant be won by decision. His animation is different though. He just uses his victory animation even though he lost

He punched himself in the forehead, causing his boxing glove to turn white for no reason whatsoever. In doing so, the top half of his head duplicated itself and manifested in his brain.
