      Luckily, this game is now available on the Mini NES... Basically the NES with around 20-30 of the top games for the time period of the console... And Punch-Out is one of the games it comes with.
      Best money i ever spent, tbvh... I also got the first Zelda game, Castlevania, all the good shit.

    • @leomdk939
      @leomdk939 2 роки тому +5

      @@mn-il4lg The graphics are nice (because the characters are large and stereotypical, basically - Tyson was like a human cheat code, so he didn't need to be a stereotype, but Little Mac IS a stereotype), but that's only part of why it's playable 35 years later. It's not just playable --- it's a *great* game 35 years later because what makes something a great game is not something that ages. The gameplay is about timing and skill. There are rewards for playing the game many, many times. The characters are colorful and fun because they are gigantic stereotypes, something you are not allowed to do anymore because everyone's trying to publicly smell their own armpits are on the stage of social media. Stereotypes allow you to grasp a colorful character in seconds and are very useful in lowbrow storytelling and games. The difficulty level starts low and progresses to being very high towards the end of the game and there are real consequences for losing a fight. You don't simply respawn where you were a moment ago with lower stats. Basically, the game has lasted because the makers did everything right, some of which you aren't even allowed to do anymore.
      You're right that it was mindblowing at the time, because they made a game where every. single. moment. was like a perfect boss fight. Who wouldn't want to play that?

      Well, I grew up with Intellivision and Intellivision 2, and when ColecoVision came out that was amazing. Nintendo came out in 1985 and I begged my Mom for Christmas for two years before I finally got one in 1987. My Dad took me to Caldor’s to get a few games because he was into gaming too at the time. Punch Out had just come out and I remember the cashier lady saying her husband was obsessed but it was so hard, she thought it’d take him a year before he got to Tyson. Wish we got it, but we didn’t. We had no idea what the game was like it was so new, but I remember being amazed it was one of the first games with the non pixelated covers, and one of the first celebrity licensed titles - Tyson was huge at that time. We got 10 yard fight, Gumshoe, Urban Champion and the real gem Super Mario Bros. I have to say that SMB was an absolute revelation in gaming - graphics, gameplay, music. It was one of the “moments” of gaming evolution that you never forget. Later there was Ultima Underworld, seeing PlayStation the first time, Xbox 360 first look. We may have a new one coming up with PS5/Series X GTA6. I think we’re approaching near photorealism in gaming and that is amazing. Maybe after that will be next gen AI, or VR/haptics being perfected and becoming part of all gaming.

    Tip for Tyson.
    When he swings, counter with two punches to the same side that he swings on for more damage. For example. If he swings with his Right, (your left) hit him with 2 lefts for 50% more damage.
    This is how you can TKO him in round 1.

    26:45 Here, when Macho Man is setting up his one-hit Spin-Punch, it's possible to cancel it, if you keep punching him. Of course it doesn't work every time. I believe you can also gain stars doing this.

    This is my favorite game of all time. My Dad use to rent it for me every Saturday morning if I stayed out of trouble and made good grades. So in 1988, we would go rent this game from the local furniture store. I was a natural at this game and only has trouble getting past Super Macho Man, that swinging heymaker was tough to defend. I never had any trouble from Tyson.

I'm not a gamer but I kept the nes snes and 64 and my favorite games. time to time it's a walk down Memory Lane and it does pass time. I don't know I feel games meant more back then. beating and no cheats. no people let a game run their lives. just play for fun we understand you win some you lose some. all it is. take care keep posting the gold. contra, Mario Bros , life force. good times

      thanks for watching! all of my stuff is recorded using the original cartridges and real hardware. no emulators or any cheats are used. i have a pretty decent chunk of the nes library no death'd on my channel at the moment. i have contra, super c, mario bros, ninja gaiden, and teenage mutant ninja turtles 1, all no death in my playlist. i hope you look to my channel for some nostalgia. that's one of the main reasons why i started doing play throughs. i liked relearning the old games. in my opinion, not too many modern games have the same feeling of accomplishment. there are some like Super Meat Boy, Cuphead, stuff like that that has that old school feel but nothing beats the original!

      Jack Winsper Got his brains blown out while serving in the military. Not sure of the details, but it turned out during a police investigation that it wasn't suicide as previously suspected (entry wound was in the back of his head, not the front) and may have been the result of him actually trying to foil a drug-dealing operation within his own barracks. My aunt and uncle ended up getting a quarter million-dollar settlement out of it, too. They probably would rather have their son back instead:::sigh:::

    I hadn't seen this game in years, but seeing how hard Tyson was to beat brought back agonizing memories as a child. 🤣🤣 That epic battle you had with him on this video was badass. I was expecting a typical run thru of domination from the user just for the sake of a quick YT video. That reminded me of what made this game so great. It was difficult at at times! For a kid or even adult to learn every fighters patterns and be quick enough to react in time took practice for sure. That Tyson fight was entertaining as hell 🤣🤣

      @@APOCALYPSE_X-MEN Sandman is predictable. Macho Man is not. Sandman has 13 jabs and only the fifth is unpredictable. He then does hooks similar to Bald Bull. Land a hit in the face and three in the gut. He then does the Midnight Express/Dreamland uppercuts. Dodge left. Hit him like 10 times. Rinse and repeat. Super Macho Man is completely random (no telling how many uppercuts and how many hooks he will do). His first Clothesline is difficult to dodge. The second one you likely will dodge one more than necessary
