Here's some cool stuff you can do with Title Defense Mr Sandman to make a very intimidating fight turn into nothing more than child's play. I hope you enjoy!
Imagine how creepy this would be irl. A guy just absolutely destroying the world champion, dodging every move perfectly, then just deciding not to end the fight until later
It would be even worse because said world champ would be taller and heavier but Mac would dance around them and land hits that will send someone flying.
I'm imagining a boss like this now. You just beat the Champion and finished off DK, then you encounter a new intro. Some guy in a dark room, analyzing every one of Mac's victories, with a background of a homemade ring and a training bot. You can see some facial features in the shadows, and there's something....familiar. Mac enters the ring and then gasps at the newcomer. This guy looks almost like Mac, *very* eerily so. Same city of origin, same height, and weighs a bit more, and if it weren't for one letter, his name would be exactly the same. He enters the ring with a maniacal grin. He'll dodge every punch you throw, dodge the Star Punch, and if you try to stall for time by dodging repeatedly, he'll hit you for chip damage by having his punches hit you on the way back from your dodge. If you get to round 2, he'll match your punches down to the frame of input and will now sucker punch you after dodging star punches, and by round 3 his punches are matching yours but the game reads them as 3 frames faster. Also by this point, he will use his own Star Punch (with the strength and triple the speed of one of your own 3 Star Punches, but without the dramatic slowdown yours has) immediately after dodging yours for an OHKO if you try anything less than 3 stars (a 3 Star punch will result in a dodge instead). Trying to use the chocolate bar between rounds just means he'll double his speed for the rest of the match to try to take you out even faster. If you just stand there he'll just stare you down. He won't taunt, his moves have no tells (not that it would matter much since he'll counter your moves anyways), won't taunt between rounds, and just glare at the camera. It's not a glare like Mr. Sandman, or Bald Bull, or Aran Ryan. This is the glare of a man whose held a grudge and will not stop until you're defeated. But then it hits you, he's not angry at Mac...he's angry at *YOU* He's mad for you trivializing any fight you came across. Face it, regardless of if you're a speedrunner, or a longtime fan, you want a *challenge.* One that makes you feel like you've earned one HELL of a victory, one that's not pattern memorization. Well if you ask for a challenge...Mack will give you a challenge. (TLDR version, it's basically a clone of Little Mac who counters or dodges your every move and reads your inputs to suckerpunch you. He's the final boss for the people who said the game wasn't tough enough.)
@@siscokidder I feel like it’d be a good replacement for the having to get up from almost being knocked out, that just takes rng, and is just tedious instead of difficult or interesting like other challenges

love how sandman means it in a patronising way, but when doc says it it's affectionate. shows how a slight change in tone completely changes what the characters meant lol
This would be the most humiliating fight in history of this was real. Being beaten by someone far below your weight class who doesn't even meet the age requirement who then proceeds to taught you mid match as you can't land what's seemingly a strike so fast that you could miss it in the blink of an eye.
@@nadjasund91 Its extremely subtle, but if you wear headphones you can hear a sound that plays when an error pops up in Windows. As I was watching this on my computer, I thought something broke, but nothing did I thought I was going crazy
So if you let him recover from the Rage uppercut exhaustion, THEN stun him, he doesn't cover his face? That's such an amazing detail! I think they just really want you to finish him using a punch to the face.
I think the coolest way to do the fight is like this: Make the match go until round 3 with Mac and Sandman knocking each other down a few times in round 1 and 2, in round 3, Mac and Sandman both have 2 downs. Sandman knocks Mac out a 3rd time since Mac while fighting seriously is still a little cocky (he’s reveling with the crowd and his status as champion in the intro) only for Mac to go into last stand mode. Sandman does his rage uppercuts with Mac dodging all of em, when Sandman’s tired Mac unleashes a fury of punches to Sandman’s face until he goes down. Don’t even finish him off with a star punch make it as long as possible for Sandman. Mac wins the fight with the ko animation following the last blow. It was the hardest fight for Mac thus far but he earned this victory. He had to truly want to keep his title and defy all odds in the final round to win. Plus it looks like a cool boxing movie scene if you play this fight that way
This video showcases a lot of possibilities and unseen animations in this fight not shown anywhere else on UA-cam. Thank you for semi-exhaustively exploring it as if it was full of secrets like Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear series. I'm looking forward to be able to watch more content like this!
The fact that Mr. Sandman always get up in time for every knockdown (up to 6, two per round and there are three rounds), tells you so well that he is just too pissed off and angry to give up, he really want that title back. The fact he will get up at the first knockdown early and FULLY recover his healthbar further emphasises it. Though on second knockdown onwards in this video, he gets up late from each later knockdown and only recover around 25% of his health (he also only get up at the count 9 after the the "first" down in the second round) What a deserving way to describe the "improved, "revenge" version of the final boss Seems like you need to exploit a certain weakness for an instant KO if you don't want to win by TKO or decision, but where? Maybe these blinking rapid uppercuts give a hint...

Right before Mac 3 star punched him, there was an ad that said “do you feel a lot of pain?”
Sandman: yes.
FBI agent felt like it
That DREAMLAND will always sound satisfying to me
The day Sandman became Sadman
The day sandman became sand
i beg that you do not do this in last stand.
he already did, he unlocked hampions mode 😦😦
@@Dronk5 i meant screwing with sandman until 2 seconds left in round 3
I haven't gotten here yet (still on Glass Joe 2) but I gotta say that contender Mr .Sand Man was by far my favorite fight in the entire game. None of the punches felt cheap or impossible to dodge, I never got frustrated, and the final hit is perfectly framed. It was an extremely good time. Good job Intelligent Systems!
Half this stuff I wasn't even aware of! This is so cool
How could you DO THIS????? SO EVIL?????? I can't even land a punch on the guy...
_Very interesting deja vu here... But I wouldn't say evil, more so the whole "I told you so" kind of enemy I fought one time._

MY TURN! *Punches
6:21 !!!
I never knew that either, he evolved more power within Mike Tyson from punch out nes 😂
The last hit of his 14 uppercuts combo will instantly knock you down if it hits.
@@PerfectAzrael It's to prevent you from going purple from the last hit. If that were to happen both of you would kinda just go into a situtation where none of you can move
@@sneakysileny No shit. I was just saying why it knocks you down instantly regardless of having more than enough HP to survive one of his normal punches.
@@PerfectAzrael I was just adding to your point to show you are right why are you attacking me dawg.
if you hit him in the face he blocks it while stunned
but if you do it in the gut he will block that
von kaiser does the same but he blocks the part where he isn’t hit
is there anyone here who thinks mr sandman would be a great father? i mean 3:03
Honestly, despite his anger issues, yeah
his anger reminds me of kratos, at least he doesn’t have to paint himself white and put red stripes from his back to his shoulder to the back and top of his head
This guy is just a legend by how he survived… 1:32
I like how the moveset is similar to mike Tyson's in the NES version
contrary to popular belief TD bald bull is the only fighter you HAVE to defeat using a star punch
I don't think it's his turn.
1:31 and it all goes downhill…
It looks like it is. But Sandman haven't seen the further truth yet.
1:06
Mr. Sandman: "My turn!"
Little Mac: "Not on your life, sport."
Might be my most fav video on punch out (wii)
I’d be mad too if I was 284 pounds and somehow lost to the kid who’s 107.
I feel like this video is one of the only to show sandman blocking his gut in a stun.
“MY TURN”
Mac: “no”
I never knew you could actually ware Mr. Sandman out
Bro you t bagging sandman killed me XD BIG PROPS
Sandman in the Thumbnail though.
I feel his pain.
3:07 (is that EDP? I hate that guy.)
impressive how you manage to do so well and STILL not have that last challenge done yet.
he for real socked you in your face when you tryed superpunching him
“I’m not just gonna beat you. I’m gonna embarrass you.”
I always wondered if it was possible to block sandman’s jab
