@@trollface6553 Why is Mr. Sandman harder than Mike Tyson?
@@AkaiAzul Is harder to beat him without damage, is not only by his hooks in the first 50 seconds in battle, is also by his Dreamland Express attack (the 3 uppercuts attack), because he will execute that attack in random time so I can't get it.
About Mike Tyson, you must see when his uppercuts and hooks are executed by him, but it may get you tired.
@@trollface6553 Once you learn the rhythm of Mr. Sandman, it's really not that hard (in my opinion). Quick-dodge all of his starting attacks and punch him once in return each time. After that phase is over, do some jabs - high punches, he'll dodge every time and counter-attack. Dodge and hit him in the face, wait for a second, and then punch him in the stomach. It'll do MORE damage than punching him twice, you'll know you did it right because it makes a special noise different from normal.
When you run out of hearts, wait patiently for him to throw a move, dodge it, punch him, and repeat the process all over again. I personally find it difficult to dodge his left-side punch (left as in, from OUR perspective, Mac's left, our left) because we've never seen it before on any other fighter.
When he does his Dreamland Express, you can tell he is going to do it because he'll start blocking all of your punches rather than dodging. When he's about to do it, he'll completely stop moving for a second, which gives you enough time to notice and react to it - even to someone like me who thinks of himself as being slower than average.
@@ZoofyZoof But he sometimes doesn't stop moving and can do a Dreamland Express in a surprising way. That's why he is so hard.
Would like to clarify that this run is timed in real time, as opposed to speedrunners who use in-game time. Converted to in-game time, this run comes out to 12:55.12, while the current world record is 14:55.00.
Hi salt
So you're saying this TAS is a world record?
You make great videos Summoning Salt!
@@thoyo TASs don't get added to leaderboards (knowingly, some have tried to pass them off as real human runs).
@@sportsjefe ok gotcha thx. I thought he meant a TAS only leaderboard
Mike Tyson is like the most humble celebrity ever to appear in a game. The funny animations, the congratulations and the wink at the end for beating him. You really don't see things like that anymore.
While indeed awesome, I think it's more likely because Mike Tyson was not a celebrity when this game came out or was in development. He wasn't champion yet.
FAQ:
Q: Why did Little Mac’s health drop to half before Don Flamenco II/Mr Sandman?
A: This is to get certain punches out of the fighters which will allow the TAS to knock them down faster
Q: Why is the rerecord count “Unknown”?
A: Hex editing iirc
Q: Is that Mario as a referee?
A: Yes
Q: Why do you let Mr Sandman knock you down?
A: This is to trigger a Dreamline Express, 3 extremely quick uppercuts which reward a ton of counterpunches to knock Mr Sandman down faster. This Dreamline Express is also the reason that the TAS used select before the fight to lower it’s health to half, it took much less time to get knocked down by Sandman that way.
and if anyone wonders HOW for the first one he hit start
OOOOHHHHHHH....
One more for anyone watching this now adays. If a fighter gets up on a 1 count then you can always star punch them right back down. But most boxers have requirements to get their 1 counts

I recall playing as a kid and lowering my health to half. Thought it was funny but kinda pissed too.
He does not know pain. He does not know fear.
He only knows how to fight. And he knows how to fight insanely well.
He is Mac. For he is a Machine.
What he punches...He destroys.
As he shall be a little machine he shall destroy big mountains. forward and onward shall he go. as downwards may his opponents go for no man shall stand the might that he’ll easily Punch-Out!!
He knows how to give a whoopin'
and how to take one too

If I ever got in a fight, and my opponent gets uo this easily after a knockdown, I think I'll just start running XD
On the opposite end of the spectrum, if someone only slightly bigger than my foot knocked me on my ass I'd probably run too

I saw speedruns of the 2009 Punch-Out, and I am surprised to see how many of the original attacks they were able to translate perfectly in the 2009 game.
*DREAMLAND!*
@@Fighterpilot555 The dreamland express in Wii actually gives you a clue it's coming.
It's a TWO frame window in NES
Not just enemy attacks. They've also translated some obscure speedrun mechanics like delayed punches getting you stars. You can tell the people who made that game were huge fans of the original.
@@cubedmelons876They've even twisted them in ways that feel like the original but completely different; like the infinite loops and KO on Don(Contender), or Macho's delayed punches each having different stun animations...
Imagine the newspapers interviewing Mac on how long it took for him to become the champ and he was just like “17 minutes”
17, just like his age
The nostalgia in watching this takes me cry almost. Christmas at my grandparents house in Florida as a kid. 🤗
I'm 42 and got this game for my birthday back in '87 when I was 7 or 8 from my uncle. Still have it to this day. Beat tyson when I was like 9 or 10. Had the code and kids at school would show at my house and power through sandman and macho with not a scratch on me. Recently busted it out and can't even through tiger. Punched in tyson code and can't get out of first round!😅
I'm 46 and beat this game when I was like 12 or 13, played it a few years ago and got to Tyson but didn't beat him
It's 39. I feel your pains. Use or lose it with this game. I honestly always feared Sandman more than Tyson. Just barely though.
I was born in 2000, and beat Tyson with the code in early 2016 on a CRT, then 14-0'd it 3 years later
You see, the REAL trick of beating the game is joining the Nintendo Fan Club today, Mac!

Got stuck on tiger for a bit too

Little Mac ain’t playing around this time
Yeeeesss a new TAS! I love seeing the TAS for this game. All the different complicated strategies are so fun to watch.
Also, still the best Glass Joe record. Uppercuts are the true way to take him out
3:18 this song is so good and I can’t even describe the feeling of greatness of this song.
I believe it involves a stolen bike.
McHazard with another amazing TAS
This has to be the most methodically efficient run I’ve ever witnessed lol
When I was 10 years old, I never get tired of playing this game even though I keep on losing against Mike Tyson!
The fact that Little Mac is the size of their kneecaps and can take everyone out in less than a minute is inspiring.
Boy, I can see why Sandman is the final boxer in the Wii version, only person who could even TOUCH Mac in his prime.
I think he gets knocked out on purpose to speed up the gameplay. Also doesnt give multiple gut blows at first for faster action
He gets knocked out on purpose to save time.
the reason that mac gets knocked is because when you get knocked at 1:59 or later in makes sandman do his triple uppercut witch saves time
@@arinfishburn3513 *which
I usually don’t watch streaming videos but I loved MTPO so much as a kid. Well done!
This is a wonderful TAS! Awesome job with this one!
I remember how Piston Hondas introduction would always scare me lol, and you gotta love Mike Tysons wink at the end credits
His eyebrows are pretty impressive, so I don't blame you.
You know. Think about the people in the audience and watching these fights in Pay-per-view (and those stealing it). The big match hyped up and such. And less than a minute. Little Mac knocks out his opponent.
Just think of the riots. All because you did not go at least 2 rounds. Should have listened to the betting brokers.
kinda like that pay-per-view Mike Tyson fight that lasted all of 10 seconds
Lol I remember as a kid a few dads where big shots and paid for ppv fights and less than a minute poof what a great match and than the ppv splash screen
Como olvidar esos clásicos sonidos de 8 bits de aquellos juegos memorables de la NES.
The sound brings me back I was never good at the game but I loved playing it
I'll will always say the Mr Sandman was way tougher than Super Macho Man. Your times prove that.
to be fair though, Mr Sandman doesn't behave in a way that can make it easier to knock him down quickly. You can't even get stars in the first round.
Time doesn’t equate to difficulty. If that were true, glass Joe wouldn’t last 42 seconds
Mr. Sandman is harder than Mike Tyson and Super Macho Man
@@trollface6553 Not harder than Tyson; but definitely harder than macho man. Tyson could knock you down with one punch; and it was random when he punched. He made you anxious as hell
That's why Mr Sandman is the last fighter on contender and Title Defense on Wii version
Back in the 90’s after winning this game, I actually thought I could beat up Mike Tyson in real life 😂
I predict a first round knock out, EVERY SINGLE TIME
Right now, nostalgia is hitting harder than Mike Tyson
i wanna see this without cutscenes... is that possible?
itd be super cool
just 4 minutes of plain whaling
0:20 Glass Joe looks like he has a glass eye.
They don't call him GLASS Joe for nothing
You ok Glass Joe?
Do you cha cha they call him glass joe because his weak point is his jaw, so he has a glass jaw

I love these videos - I think it'd be interesting to get speedrunners to commentate on them, talk strats and so on.
"Uh oh, McHazard made a new tas. You know what that means."
Wut. matt turk?
In this game, Mike Tyson wasn't the champ, he was the challenger. When this game was being developed, Tyson wasn't the champion, he just impressed the devs.
Me: "Glass Joe, c'mon man! Move! Duck! Fight back! Oooooh you got knocked tf out!"
😆
Nice video!
Good thing we couldn’t go off stage nor have we heard of off stage in punch out
This is the best Nintendo music hands down every track
I don't know about best. Great; absolutely. But TMNT; Ninja Gaiden, Contra? Those had some damn good soundtracks
Gawd I miss this game! They should remake this with more up to date boxers, but also mike tyson!
I've beaten every boxer in the SNES/NES and Wii Punch Out series EXCEPT Mike Tyson! Before I kick the bucket, it is my dream to beat Mike Tyson in Punch Out.
I beat him in 1988. So I lived it. I was there. I know.

Sure Glass Joe technically lasted longer than most other opponents. But unlike other opponents Glass Joe didn't get back up.
Haha i laughed so hard :D that animations and sound effects :D
素晴らしく頼もしく完璧😊
Amazing how this game it's Nintendo did a great job making this game
Also amazing TAS
Is it an urban legend that if you K.O. everyone before the Tyson fight you had a chance to K.O. him? Amazing job on the TAS. Only thing in comparison is Sinister1 blindfold run.
KOs are determined by either certain conditions or RNG, so ye thats just a legend
tyson takes a knockout on his 6th knockdown given the correct conditions / good luck, regardless of how you beat the other fighters. some of them, such as bull 1, can’t be knocked out at all and only tko’d
The fact that the fastest way for beating Mr Sandman it to get knocked out on purpose after the 2nd knockdown
Sandman’s 3 uppercut always kills me
I kinda wanna see an all-KO run of this game, now.
It probably wouldn't be _fast,_ but it might be _interesting!_
Some of them are _TKOs,_ wherein opponents get knocked down three times in the same round, so the ref says "you're done."
I'd like to see a run where every opponent gets knocked down and _doesn't_ get back up. But, that might be boring, depending on the game logic. I mean, this wasn't programmed like _Super Punch-Out!!_ where that's easy to do with practice.
I think certain opponents can't be KO'd, namely Great Tiger, and Mr. Sandman, that's just the ones I know off the top of my head.
Imagine if someone improved Glass Joe 😂. Wish that was possible...
That'll happen once King Hippo gets up on 9. 😝

By Decision The Winner Is TAS
Rerecord count: Unknown. That's a rarity.
Also, getting knocked down by Sandman is faster? Explanation, please!
I'm thinking it triggers Sandman's uppercut sequence which he uses to knock him down much quicker than the normal 1-2 shots he gives when he throws the hooks.
Sandman does a Dreamland Express (that's his three quick uppercuts) immediately after knocking down Little Mac if it happens 1:59 or later into the first round. Successfully dodging a DE nets you around a free 20 punches on Sandman, so this is crucial to a round 1 TKO.
Rerecord count _unknown?!_ How is _that_ possible…? Did the data in the counter get corrupted?
How is that not at least a yellow flag? Is this run console-verified? So many questions…!
@@JoLiKMC a run can have unknown number for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to: hex editing (or changing a bunch of inputs at once), multiple savings of the file, stitching together separate runs (as in, taking all the ILs together), or an emulator not properly counting all of them (like what can happen with Hourglass, it something just doesn't increment the rerecord count when it should.
As for console verification, that usually happens afte

When I was a kid I had this game, except Mike Tyson was removed and replaced with a generic heavyweight champion named Mr Dream. And there was no newspaper clip like at 16:20. It did have the 1987 copyright date. Maybe it was only for certain markets at the time?
You must've had the re-release then. Only the older copies of the game had Tyson, and as far as I know Mr dream is functionally identical (but nowhere near as cool).
I'd. also add that all video content is K.O. \ T.K.O. -related.

I find it funny that buffers used by actual players are getting put into the TAS.
RTA strategies are always the starting point. Sometimes TAS authors find new stuff which they then try to make RTA viable, but more often their job is to push existing strategies to their absolute limit, beyond that of human skill and reaction. TAS authors even played a role in proving that Todd Rogers was a fraud.
