Well done Jocko been a long time waiting for these episodes. Also awesome to see you giving it a go yourself but always helps when you have the guidance from a experience person. I can't wait to see it back on the road Jocko. These episodes are way more interesting than any new builds.
Wow.. This is amazing info, you blokes are so down to earth, The info is clear with such up close insight to bits of the work. No annoying back ground music has made this even more enjoyable, Keep up this Fab work, Cheers.
That’s not a crow bar, that’s a jimmy bar. Crow bars are long bars about 6-5 foot long with a chisel head and a hammering surface on the other side. Very useful for digging holes or removing concrete.
Great work Jocko!!!! Loved how you jumped in and just learned!!!!! That's what it's all about and it's so much fun and very rewarding when you see the project start to come together!!!
some good tips there Jocko! the only other thing I would say is 1, have moisture trap on the compressor and 2, try not to spray on a day that is too humid.
Absolutely love this ep! Hoping to find an old hilux myself to do up and break into 4x4. Seems to be the hardest thing to find a decent luxy with the limited funds and ability I have! Can't wait for the next ep
Good answer re not sandblasting saving time avoiding repairs. But you can always just use a sandblasting service with skilled operators who know how to do it without damaging things.
Always seal the metal surface before moving to bog or any panel repairs. If one of Australia’s best street machine builders, Howard Astill, does it then there’s no argument about it. He goes through that process in his BossXC build series.
Honestly couldn't wait for my body work to be done with! I hated the repeatitive process of one step closer sand it off one step sand it off 😒 but in the end happy with end result! Then rolled Ute out of shed and storm came through home and threw a tree branch onto my fresh cab and back to step one 😅 just leaving it now because not going through it again
Joko good job mate . I would like this to be mentioned in an episode, how about a conversion a Holden 253 just like back in the day. Should find a dusty conversion kit from Mark's adaptors it's not to late to build the beefy Hilux everyone wanted
Question on the chassis.. If it’s a full restoration and longevity is in mind. Why didn’t you go with the option of galvanising it after the repairs.? As that would’ve also completely protected the inside of the chassis as well..
When you finish this project. Would it be a good idea to do a head to head of all the generations of hilux from the first 4wd hilux's in the early 80's to present day. The 09-15 n70s have several differences between them.
@23:12 , or you can guide coat it , block it with 120. find your inperfections , then body fill them . that way you not sanding off your texta and loosing the dents , the dents will be visable in guide coat
I would love too see you out drive the old guys😊 Shaun and Graham🍻😂 in this 80s rig and them in there new expensive modern rigs😂 GREAT stuff👌👍Jocko, she going to be a beut🛻 4wd247 🍻
Yeah gotta agree, pro work on the video today guys. I hope you can find the original sticker kit for the old rig. It needs the original pin stripes mate. Cheers
You should have gone for the smooth clossy texture on the raptor coat on the chassis Jocko.... getting the mud and dirt off a wrinkle finish is pretty hard and it's hard to get it to look clean...
I’m embarrassed to say I’ve only just discovered your page and it’s great content. I’ve watched 3 of your “adventures” and look forward to watching more. What I am struggling with as obviously I’m trying to watch older content, is what order things are in as sometimes the next episode isn’t in date order. Do you have and it’s hard to work out which episodes continue as the titles seems fairly random. Am I missing something obvious? Anyway keep up great work! !
Cab and tub look so cool lined up together. This is going to be a mint show car to tour around the shows this year hopefully. What are we thinking retro wheels and tyres like the farm truck? Or a bit more width like a modern set up? Either way it’s going to be great to see in real life. Chrome hub caps I reckon.
Granted, it’s not going to be a hard wheeler, but what an opportune time to install a u bolt flip kit. Truck is looking great, can’t wait for the next episode!
Great work guys. I’m just curious about the gas welding mainly as I tig and mig everything would it not heat the panel excessively? Not a dog just curious 😊
spray bog was around 30 years ago. It was the last coat to go on before paint. Was sprayed on followed by a dusting of guide coat.... wet rubbed back and done.... ready for paint prep...... edit : just watching now the follow up..... things havnt changed in a long time.... another edit: i mentioned wet rubbing because back then dust extraction wasnt a thing.
Love watching videos like this - my main question would be how do I go about rust repair on a vehicle I almost daily drive? Most of the car is good, there's just a few spots on the roof around, in the door jams and a nasty spot above my rock slider. You can't see most of the areas where rust is forming but would like to fix them as properly as possible and I'm not too sure where to start and I can't really afford to strip apart the entire car, sand off all of the paint and start from scratch
Loving this build and motivating me to continue to work on mine, my only question is why do oxy welding over mig, stick it tig welding, is there a benefit or just what's currently available?
Here in Canada we would have the concern of rust inside the boxed frame, do you guys have any concern about that down under? If so how do you check and then treat/ repair? Up here we undercoat the entire underside of car before each winter, as I do it myself I make sure to hit the inside of the frame front to rear. Salted roads can kill a frame/ panels over time. Cheers!
Same question, while in OZ we do not get snow, salt etc we do get rust. I have seen many rust repairs, they all have bare metal on the inside. Curious, how do they rust proof/paint the inside of the panel and the frames?
Using oxy can be expensive - gas bottle rental plus hoses and torch. Bloody handy if you use it for whatever often enough. A cheap TIG/MIG may be a better option. Argon is cheaper than oxy and especially acetylene bottles. Worth you commenting on. I'm not knocking you, just a comment. Great work, it's going to come up a treat. Looking forward to the rest of the build, cheers
Great video love to see the progress on the hilux. But I just have to say that don't weld up your car panels like that. Use a short burst of mig with a air gun and you will not Warp the panel in the first place! Again thanks for the up date.
I have a 1983 ln46 and I've been wanting to resto it too but first I've been trying to figure out how to 5 speed swap the original 2.2L diesel, if you got any ideas please let me know. Cheers
Hey @Jocko. How can you get a ground from the chassis if it is fully civered with raptor. I suggest that you install the grounding wires prior to raptor.
I was just thinking what engine swap? Full restoration OK. But as the new 79 comes in 2.8 I4 layout, that sounds on the face of it like a good candidate. Very in keeping with the original, but imagine that, bang up to date power and torque. I’m guessing this won’t be rock crawling or going remote anyway by the damage the Pony sees.
This is the best build of the channel.
Can't wait for the next episode! When's it coming?
I have just bought a 60 series land cruiser for my first car and i have to do a bit of rust repair and this will help alot thank you
Well done Jocko been a long time waiting for these episodes.

Mate, need more episodes like these awesome work jock!
Loved how neatly detailed this video was 👍
I have to go back and watch 1 again
I love everything you guys did on the Hilux, wish I could ship my Hilux over for you to rebuild. Good stuff.
These videos just keep getting better and better!
Always so much work in restoring cars. Have to be diligent in the work and the process
Can’t wait to see what colour goes on! Looking fantastic
That’s not a crow bar, that’s a jimmy bar. Crow bars are long bars about 6-5 foot long with a chisel head and a hammering surface on the other side. Very useful for digging holes or removing concrete.
Reaylly enjoyed the hammer and dolley shrinking after welding the mirror holes.
honestly great. ive just done all this myself on my old LN65 duel cab and its great to see new ways to do things, great work jocko
Great work Jocko!!!! Loved how you jumped in and just learned!!!!! That's what it's all about and it's so much fun and very rewarding when you see the project start to come together!!!
Well done Jocko, good to see someone just jump in and give it a go, good on you - very impressive. 🤝🙌
Builds like this really are very top notch. A lot of effort for both the build and the videos, its awesome to see.
this episode went too quick, I was so involved in it. great work Jocko!. that HILUX is going to look awersome.
Been waiting for this episode and hopefully the og dirty 30 build for ages
some good tips there Jocko! the only other thing I would say is 1, have moisture trap on the compressor and 2, try not to spray on a day that is too humid.
Damos instructions are great. Keep the info coming.
Thanks so much, mate! Damian's a legend!

I need to do this to my 94 JA11 Jimny.
from a guy who's dad is a professional panel beater and done a bit of panel beating on my nl65 (my pfp) you've actaully done a pretty good job.
Great to see some more progress. Looking forward to seeing more, well done Jocko!
Well done Jocko -lets see more of it. A question a get asked alot by the local kids is diff rebuilds. How about a diff rebuild end to end.
Loved seeing the old pony passengers door on the shed wall!
Absolutely love this ep!
Hoping to find an old hilux myself to do up and break into 4x4. Seems to be the hardest thing to find a decent luxy with the limited funds and ability I have!
Can't wait for the next ep

Great work guys
Awesome work from both of you
Need more updates!!!!!
Episode 4 pls!👀
That's a beautiful project

looks great jocko
Hey Jocko I have a series 1 hilux if you are interested is only a two wheel drive but complete and 100% original hasn’t moved in over 25 years
Honestly couldn't wait for my body work to be done with! I hated the repeatitive process of one step closer sand it off one step sand it off 😒 but in the end happy with end result! Yes!
Great vid, well done
Good vid Jocko, I enjoy learning heaps from a legend like you.
Amazing effort! Can't wait to see the finished Project!
Awesome work Jocko the Hi-luxs is coming along great can't wait to see it when it's done.
Great way to handle all the arm chair panel and paint experts. Great episode.
Why no lockers? If you sent the diff centres out to be reconed anyway would it not have been worth fitting lockers while they were all out
Joko good job mate . I would like this to be mentioned in an episode, how about a conversion a Holden 253 just like back in the day. Should find a dusty conversion kit from Mark's adaptors it's not to late to build the beefy Hilux everyone wanted

This is such a useful episode
Bloody finally! YEW!
Keen as to see the crossmember done!
@23:12 , or you can guide coat it , block it with 120. find your inperfections , then body fill them . that way you not sanding off your texta and loosing the dents , the dents will be visable in guide coat
Yes, I like to guide coat the epoxy primer before bog.
I would love too see you out drive the old guys😊 Shaun and Graham🍻😂 in this 80s rig and them in there new expensive modern rigs😂

Sticker Art in QLD might be able to help.

Good on ya jocko from the Uk 🇬🇧🇦🇺👍
Great work guys. I’m just curious about the gas welding mainly as I tig and mig everything would it not heat the panel excessively? Not a dog just curious 😊
Will you be sharing the total cost of this restoration once completed? Including the cost of the items you got for free?

Legend Toyo, legend job mate!
The OEM yellow would come up mint👌

Its gonna look good Jocko
Looking great, what engine did the Toyota original come with from the factory
Very interesting, I learned a lot.

Looks good Jock! Need a “chassy” counter though 😂
This channel is amazing
Looks like a great build. I wonder what is the expense vs a newer, better condition Hilux (vs what condition this Hilux was at the beginning).
Nice job ! Gonna look good ! It is alot of work tho if your just going to bash it through the bush and drive on off road tracks .
Really enjoying watching the full restoration. I was curious if using a tig welder would be ok if you didn't have access to oxy welding?
This is awesome. Great job Jocko. Would love to know exactly how many total hours was put in by everyone when the jobs complete
I have a 1983 ln46 and I've been wanting to resto it too but first I've been trying to figure out how to 5 speed swap the original 2.2L diesel, if you got any ideas please let me know. Cheers
Babe wake up! There's a new episode of Jocko's Hilux!
🤣
Mhhhmm x20 ..
Showing respect and doing as one is told. Ha!
Love it! 😁
Love this guys ❤

Well done mate! Just wondering did you budget for this resto? Thanks
good see Damo getting his hands dirty
Here's one I prepared earlier in the background haha
Love it!!!
ive learned so much in this video
UA-cam has deemed the 4WD-24/7 crew now can have their shows in Extended bitrate or youtube premium 1080P
That’s good of em pppfft 😂
