Funny how these blokes deliver better series than Netflix
So good to see a full resto happening on the channel. Can't wait to see this thing when it's finished 👌
I am blessed to own an 83, and my dream is to restore it just as immaculately but on a friendly budget. I truly have no major experience with any type of tools, but anything can be done with want and desire. I just have to work slowly and methodically. I'm super excited about this build, and now I have a complete how-to video thanks to this channel. Thank you very much, and God bless your channel. 🙏 I look forward to all your upcoming videos!!!! 😊
I like this detailed step by step-by-step video. Most restorations skip the smaller details because they assume everyone knows how it's done. I am looking forward to seeing the next video. After all the work is done I hope you keep it as a daily driver or touring rig so it doesn't get beat up on tough tracks.
I was born and raised in one of these. My dad bought a brand new 82 short box/cab brand new the year i was born! Great!
Cheers from Canada!
It's great to see you're restoring the old hilux as there getting harder to find without to much rust.
It's awesome to finally see it's been a long time waiting for this
Thanks mate! looking forward to getting it done - Jocko
So glad to see some Hilux builds . I have a 1989 Hilux I've been working on for a long time and just love this lil 4x4
This has come at the perfect time, I’m currently looking at a 81 hilux to restore and this is just pure motivation 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
As I watch this, I a just glad that someone on the other side of earth loves Hiluxes as much as I do and if fate takes me to Australia, I'd be more than stoked to meet up with this fellow enthusiast. All the best mate,
Nice. Look at the classic Red Marlin Crawler truck for inspiration, that thing is an icon in my world. I believe his is a 1980 but same body style. I've got an 85 4runner that just got back on the road/trail last winter after a 2 year rebuild. Upgraded engine and drivetrain, dual tcases, high steer conversion, upgraded brakes, lift, tube work... Toyota minitrucks are the best. Definitely will be watching to see where this project goes.
Its definitely inspiration mate! that thing is a beast - Jocko
One of my tricks for wire brushing into hard to reach corners ect is a bit of wire rope in the drill, it can go inside things around corners.
Love it. My dad gave me his 82 hilux lwb 4x4 in 87. I drove it for near 20 years.
Now that jocks finally getting this old girl back up and running again whould make for a grate episode to get the luxsy the dirty 30 and shorty and have all 3 do a trip together again whould be awesome
Love this series! Hope to see the other episodes soon!
My son and I have two hilux that we are doing up, a ‘80 first gen single cab long bed and a ‘85 second gen xtra cab.
Glad it's not me but super satisfying to watch all that old paint come off!
Great video, you looked so happy. Thank you for sharing 👍🏼
Great to see some more progress, looking forward to the next episode!
Great job Jocko, I love these (and trackside repairs), feel like I learn so much. Keep it up!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video 😊
I'm so excited for this series. Problem is though, I'm going to want to do my own afterwards.
Awesome build Jock. Gives me some inspiration to continue the rest of my own build. Lots of body as well as mechanical jobbies to be done. Thank you and keep it up mate!!!
Back in the day, de-seamed minis were the bomb, this luxy is almost screaming for de-seaming
Planning on doing the same thing to my D22 Navara, had it for three years still waiting on tools and parts, thanks for the vids mate can't wait to see it finished, cheers take care 😁👍
Awesome video as always 4WD 24/7 Crew.
God I wish I owned a epic 4WD, would love to own an absolute mad 4WD to go touring around Australia. You boys certainly dragged me into buying a 4WD, I can’t wait and I love it.
Please put that brush bar on the big rig with a pair of old KC lights😍
A hilux, what a surprise. Really varied content lol
Some of us really like Hiluxes though haha
Thank god he built a Hilux, didn't want to suffer some diversity.
Not wrong 🥱
Jocko definitely has a one track mind. OOH A HILUX! I could use one of those ….
It's the reason why Jessie's build has been so popular
You're not wrong mate - but, technically this build isnt new as its been in my shed for a while. Im hearing you and im keen to try something different down the line! Been looking into old Land Rovers actually! Just gotta get this one done first!
Jocko
@@mcdoogle456 will keep an eye out for the old landy build, I'm subbed to Crawlerer79 who has some pretty good vids and mods for them. May be worth a look if you've never heard of him
Can't wait for this to be Finish 😊
Would be nice to see some D22 Frontiers, Xtrails, J Series Jeeps, Prados and Bighorns for a change
Love to see more from your build ❤, greetings from denmark 😊🇩🇰
Lots of First gen Toyota pickups were shipped with no bed here to the States. Beds were built and installed at the port.
Same thing with first gen 4runner rear seats.
The tan paint ❤👌
Hi from Philippines I love watching your video
Awesome build. First proper Hilux build showcasing all the detail. Cant wait for it to be completed.
Can you maybe tell how much paint stripper you used on the mudguards and roof etc?
Keep up the good work!
I actually had a grinder catch my hoodie cords. Went right up into my face
Started watching this as I'm restoring an 1980 rn46 myself keen to see how your truns out as well as mine!!!
Really creative
i only watch this channel because u guys show hiluxes and i like them :)
This is so cool 👍 to watch I'm very interested
Great job
Gracias, aprendiendo tus técnicas desde colombia! Ansioso por tu nuevo video!
I rip the cords out of my work hoodies. I never use them anyways lol
Also that's a very good advise: Treat bare metal immediately and cover it immediately with epoxy primer BEFORE putting fillers and body works. I see so many people with exposed metal laying fillers directly...
I had a 1980. Petrol 4x4. I put a 308 in it 400 turbo tranny had cruiser diff centers and hilux axles. Cost me alot of money. Awesome machine.
I've always wanted to build a Back To the Future Hilux.
We need an update on this rig.
Hard to find them that clean in the states.
Question... Why not get all the panels sandblasted to save on the labour stripping etc? Great, insightful vid!
That’s what I don’t understand. Paint sripper and orby just to sandblast it anyways? What’s the point
I hope the next video of 4WD 24/7 wil have more action in the bush then in the shed
small tip, dont use a rattle gun on any drain or fill plugs, best to use hand tools to avoid damage
You can used a tool for the little part with the drill, is like a red rock and you can buy for 3 dollars for the next project
Awesome
Awesome build man. When is the next episode going live?
Repairing chassis rails or crash supports/front frame of a car would be nice to cover... obviously not with this build but the process you'd use to replace a damaged front end of a vehicle.
I’m wanting to do a resto on my old man’s pzj70 swb with a 1pz How long dose a resto take what should I consider how much should I budget and what should and shouldn’t I outsource cheers
How long did the entire process from sanding till Brunox take you for the panel?
Greetings from Germany
تقومون بعمل جيد اشتريت من هذه السيارة الرائعة واتمنه ان اقوم بتعميره
Hi I really enjoyed your video nice to see it being done properly I'm doing one myself wondering if you know where to get replacement floor panels to
It looks like you are in dire need of a wet sand blasting kit!!
hi i renovate classic cars ... 23:40 you can also use a etching 'vibrating needle' tool that you use on your spanners to leave a name (it's proper noisy on a stripped panel) also hydrochloric acid brick cleaner 30% solution is amazing to eat car cancer as well ... that can leave a "sand blasted" type finish on steel and works fast...
Should the bucket seats from the sr5 in the 4wd lux just re-upholster them
Love this van bro ... My dream luxy❤❤❤
So the paint stripper was "nasty" and yet you pressure washed it away outside on the grass?
What colour will it get painted red?
What paint stripper are you using there!?
When is episode 3 coming out?
this project get scrapped?
Darn 11 months later
So all those people with their Nardo Grey cars must be hanging to see the next steps after laying down primer so they can finish their cars 🤣🤣
Where can i get the flat car lift in this video.
Great vid
What Brand and Type of Hoist is that?
Why not use the sr5 shell and transfer all the parts, i would have thought the sr5 is more valuable?
Oh god what has jock gotten him self into
should've sealed those diff housings up if you were going to blast them. if you miss one little pocket of blasting media say goodbye to your diff internals.
and for the small amount of time you save you're better off just wire wheeling the housing.
They will be masked by the blaster mate - but definitely agree! - Jocko
What size nozzle was used to spray the epoxy primer?
@@altusvanvuuren5555 1.8mm tip :)
I have 2 ln46 double cab sr5 hiluxs, one with a 5 speed and an L (ally top 2.2 diesel) and the other a 4 speed with the L aswell. I’ve got brown and black interiors and all haha I have more hilux parts than I know what to do with 😂
i just do sandblst and ice blsting it removes even the pint then i can pint it
My biggest tip is find a shop that can sandblast the parts for you! Please safe yourself alot of time in the rebuild!
Great tip mate, but with an older vehicle like this sometimes sandblasters can do a bit of damage to parts that are hard to find like guards etc. Doing it this way ensures we can keep it looking mint at the end, but still use blasting for some of the parts. Cheers! Jocko
@@mcdoogle456 I went to a sand blaster that was specialist in VW beetle and other old cars 😀
How to do awkward welding at home as a novice.
Banana jocko
Please please for the love of god I’m begging put a 2LT in it and swap the head to a 3L or 5L for a slightly bigger valve
And swap the cam to and pump to the newer L series motor please
Wouldn't have been easier to sand blast the paint off?
Yeah definitely easier mate, but sometimes it can be too intense for old panels depending on their condition. Plus we were able to treat them properly this way - Jocko
Please do not replace the bench seat. Just redo the upholstery.
When’s the next vid on this
Hi ...could see the frame of monkey Z50A which went to sandblasting even in not seen not taken mode 🥷
Sneaky side project! haha
You've got me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next episode/s for this build series. It's great that Jock & Jesse are getting the spotlight to showcase what they are truly passionate about!
Just a little tip always find somewhere to lay your door cards flat to store them stops them from bending and making it harder to fit nicely later 👍🏻
Jocko sure knows his stuff. Anyone working with the big guy could learn a lot in no time flat.
Awesome video!! Love seeing Jocko (and Jesse) getting his own build series!! Can't wait for the rest of the episodes!!
More to come!
Can’t wait to see the end results of all the builds coming up!
Jesses GU will be an animal and Jockos hilux will be a neat one, maybe to go out and do some old school wheeling with Shaunos OG dirty thirty comeback!
Keep up the awesome work! 😃
Heaps of exciting projects on the go!
@@4WD247I have a 1981 Toyota Hilux with a 253 v8
Loving the build Jocko! Being an apprentice trimmer myself, I would love to know wether any interior work is being done on the lux (headlining, seats, dash) would be a good idea for a different video too if you can get someone experienced in to give some tips and tricks.
Thanks mate! looking forward to the retrimming side of things - Jocko
The rust you call “rust “ is pristine condition to us in the uk ..
The vehicle type doesn't matter, it's super interesting to see how this all comes apart, gets worked on, then goes back together. That last bit is always the part I get wrong 😂...
I’m absolutely loving this resto series. Frothing to see how it turns out. Keep it up Jocko!
Love these build episodes. Between the red-lux and The GUBMW surely we can get more consistent uploads!!
Jock'os definitely that one mate who always loves old hiluxs.
Keen to see the end result of this build!🤩
Jock I can't wait for the ending results of this incredible build
Thanks mate! - Jocko
Hi guys when are we going to see the Cape York episode I hate it when you make me wait a week and all I get to see is 25 min what you should be doing is have 2 episode a week one that goes for an hour and the other 25 minutes I love you guys but I like action
😂 how about you run the show mate
We would if we could mate! The big ones take a lot of time. So that you don’t have to go weeks without a video at all we’re always working on stuff like this too - which a ton of you guys froth!
@@benjaminshort6520 you know what I don't care about what you say I'm 53 I might be dead in a few years time so why don't you mind your own business
Yeah I never owned a car I never had a licence so when I see episode so short I don't watch so I'm sorry if I was harsh I don't know how much time I've got left cause I've got lung problems so that's why I was like that I'm sorry
