Hey Jocko, the build looks absolutely amazing. I was just curious as to how you will go about engineering the engine swap? I have wanted to put a 3rz in my rn105 and keep it looking retro like what you've done but it seems so hard to engineer it, so I'm currently getting my 22r machined and going to build that and make it look perfect for now. Anyway I have also gone high steer and done a diff push ect so I was also wanting to engineer the car for that. Any advice on how to go about it would be great, thanks!
Hey mate - Great question! In NSW the main things i need to keep on top of for engineering are emissions and noise. the turbo kit also needs to be done properly with appropriate heat shielding, mounting etc. It varies from state to state, but i would suggest speaking to an engineer first and getting them to inspect the car. From there they can give you guidance/ advice on what to change etc so you know its being modified within the design constraints they set. Then you can work with that engineer as you go to ensure you're on track, which should make the final sign off straightforward. Engineering is not a cheap exercise no matter which way you swing it, so you may as well spend the money from the start with an engineer you trust. Hope that helps - Jocko
Short answer in NSW don't bother i had mine done 5 years ago and emissions are the biggest killer the government wants these old beauty's off the road and they will throw many spanners at your truck to succeed not to mention the cost back in 2020 it cost me $2500 for a certificate hate to think what it be like today funny thing my truck was engineered back in 2011 but still had to have it re issued due to the previous owner loosing it!
@mcchicken9878 that sounds like a total pain in the ass mate. All that hard work and they want it off the road. Do they realise that you keeping it on the road is actually saving the planet. Government.
Don't know if jocko realises it but he's one of, if not the best presenter on 4wd 24/7 but is up there generally across all of the 4wd channels I'm aware of.. Dude is just naturally likeable, funny and mixed with his knowledge of 4wds makes a killer combo. He's going to go very far in the industry.
I’d love to see more of the nitty gritty stuff. Not a lot of people show that side. Love the colour and the vinyls. Can’t wait to see the finished look!
As a automotive painter, thank you for showing how much work goes in to a paint job(even tho a lot has to be cut out) Many people think a painjob is easy and the shops are taking way to much money for it, the margins are small folks!
I did an old kingwood in the shed when i was 30 it turned out really really bloody good but man the hours i put in and the mistakes i had to fix you panel beaters are artists pure and simple if people actually seen what goes into it
Great colour and yes, 1000s of hours. Good advice on the books, too. A build / rebuild like this also requires lots of spreadsheets, ziplock bags, labels, tools, space and patients. Nice.
This build along with Jesse’s have been some of the best content on this channel. Now we got teased with a video of Shaun’s 12HT dirty 30 (original) coming back to life. Keen to see more of that.
Graham should be proud of you jock he definitely has brought you up well big props to Graham for having such a good son I bet he's kicking himself tho that your following shauno on the Toyota front tho 😂❤
Jocko, Love that youre looking to restore an old forbie rather than put 37s on and wheel it hard. Retro 4WDs are so cool and its great to see you taking it back to it's former glory :)
I taught myself mechanics from Haynes and Chilton manuals, 30+ yrs ago! Great way to learn! Suck, squeeze, boom, blow: that's all you really need to know.
Well done Jock 🎉 You have done wonder's with this ute! I love these up dates, and looking forward to seeing what you do with the petrol power plant 💪 Cheers Aaron 🍻
Jock, one of the best 4WD24/7 ep's. Great work and keep up the good work. Keep up the info and detail so all can learn from. All I can say is "Respect". Can I thro out - "maybe putting Jesse to shame"???
Looks wicked Jocko, was worried when I saw the clip of green being laid down but red is the only choice for this classic old Luxie. . Had a dual cab one of these years ago, red with a 2.4 diesel (turbo) conversion, plenty of memories although since switched teams and enjoying the Nissan life in a GQ now 😊
pretty cool, i had no idea there was another hilux restoration project on youtube. Getting close to paint on mine, well done from the other side of the pond!
Looks amazing, seriously, I wasn't sure about the red, but ya nailed it, the decals so on point! Truly this is how we save the planet, rebuild restore and re enjoy the best vehicles ever! Literally the saving the planet by saving Luxy's! 😉 Sic as mate, good work by you and the rest of the team, when ya done can ya come and do my 80s, thanks in advance! Ps as much as the red is stunning, mine wont be red, just a fyi🤣 though will be lots of upol/Raptor cheers, look fwd to the next episode!🤘
Great build! This doesn't make me so scared to rebuild my spare engine in my rig myself over the next year. I can't wait to see this thing on the trails!
All our big travel eps are filmed in 2-3 week periods so it's super difficult to get one out each week with so much time away from the editing suite! But maybe in the future we will get to 🤙🏻 That's the dream!
Wow, amazing mate ! Something I’ve always wanted to do, even if it’s only vicariously I’m living the ride and all ur content ! I would have been mortified to see those runs…but, u were too smart mate - that was Gold 👌🏻👌🏻😅
Liked this just got my hands on a 85 4 door Hilux - What are tricky bits to take off and when is a mate and slab needed, paint don't care its going to get scratched as long as I get there and back
How much boost are you proposing? Have had a best of 9psi on the stock 2TR bottom end for its initial stages of running a Raptor supercharger though am considering the Rotrex C30-94 after conversations with Bullet Cars & 4wd.
That is a GORGEOUS colour, It looks so good! Though personally I do also like the one at 1:10 quite a lot, but the one you go with is really nice and is more like I would chose if I was attemting to be sensible 😆
Mine was an 81 or 82 on 33s (sometimes 35s) MAKE SURE YOU SEAL UP THE DISTRIBUTOR! I kept getting my ignition wet from the fan in a big bog and my buddy started driving his stock samurai in circles around me with water coming in over his doors.. I bought my FIRST Sammi the next week 😂🤣 One of em I shoehorned a mustang motor and trans in 👀! That one was pretty badass. 😉
What wheels are you going to be putting on it. I only ask because that chrome wheel with the white writing on the sidewall is giving an awesome classic vibe. Awesome job everyone
Wow it looks so good, the last 5% takes the longest and the most frustrating so close yet so far keep up the good work and the hilux love mate hope its ready for next yrs 4wd show ha ha ha
I'll watch this another day, in garage myself, but first thought was should have painted it mud and rocks like landscape. tree or two in the background
Jocko I got some beers next time you're in the states, come on over with that new certificate and help me out on my truck would ya!? haha That red is perfect for that truck!

@@denc6505 id never do it again mate its sad but that's just the way it goes i hope Jocko can get by a bit easier than i did and a lot cheaper
I'm pretty sure I recognise 1 of them painters, hang on thats me. Good to work with ya jocko it was a pleasure
Have the boys in the shop taken bets on how long Jock keeps it that way?
@@rightinthefriggineyeI doubt he will drive it on the track man
Are you the D..k head who sprayed all the runs
Cheers Lachlan!
Mate question? Can you give me a youtube link for the previous restoration
Thank you

News flash champ him and Jesse are gonna take over in the future
Jocko that color is spot on, perfect choice, great job on this gem.
be nice to see shauno's original dirty 30 build progress.
I’d love to see more of the nitty gritty stuff. Not a lot of people show that side. Love the colour and the vinyls. Can’t wait to see the finished look!

I have been in love with the hilux ever since when I was a kid. It Call it the 2nd most popular, bumpy, low in info-tech, uncomfortable....I ❤it.
JOCKO im happy for you brother. You deserve this!
Love the colour. Looking like a huge job so cannot wait to see it off road.
Graham should be proud of you jock he definitely has brought you up well big props to Graham for having such a good son I bet he's kicking himself tho that your following shauno on the Toyota front tho 😂❤
Loving this series, jocks enthusiasm makes great entertainment 🍻
Jocko, Love that youre looking to restore an old forbie rather than put 37s on and wheel it hard. Retro 4WDs are so cool and its great to see you taking it back to it's former glory :)

Jocko is a really good guy! He is a man of so many talents :)
Nice work guys luv seeing the old Toyotas brought back to life . The Hilux is looking 👌 awesome .

You have done wonder's with this ute!

The color is magnificent!
im stoked on the specs youve chosen, light chassis with petrol is one of the best combos in cars
Beautiful truck! That Toyota Hilux cannot be found where I live in the states. I owned an 85 SR-5 with a 22R and a 5-speed. I miss that truck!
As a spray painter by day and a fan of the channel, I thoroughly enjoyed this Jocko!
Glad to see you only used raptor in the correct places and did a proper paint job 👌
That colour is insane, I don’t think theirs a more perfect colour for it, well done jocko!
Jock, one of the best 4WD24/7 ep's. Great work and keep up the good work. Keep up the info and detail so all can learn from. All I can say is "Respect". Can I thro out - "maybe putting Jesse to shame"???
Amazing Jock!! Keep on keeping on mate 💪💪

Looks sick Jock. Can't wait to see it all together.
Great build! This doesn't make me so scared to rebuild my spare engine in my rig myself over the next year. I can't wait to see this thing on the trails!
That's the spirit - good luck with your build!
Love how this one's turning out!
Let's call this van "CLIFFORD the Big Red Van"... Great to see what you have done to this bro ...big love from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹...
Been waiting to see whats happening with the old toyota.. thanks for upload!
Good info throughout the series, im really enjoying the channel it keeps getting better!!!
Thanks! We're stoked you like it! 🤘
Well done jocko looks mint hopefully to see it at the 4x4 show
3rz love to burn valves, they require regular shim pack checks. I went with 5vz swap on my old hilux! build looks good!
For the spray rust prevention stuff, put that stuff in a warm water bath to heat it up first and it will apply heaps easier.
I've been waiting for the next instalment of the Hilux rebuild :D That was definitely the perfect colour for it.
Sneaky, Jock's new 300tdi in the background 👌
Should have discovery 1 camel trophy challenge with Matt from the explore life 👍
Good job, greetings from Costa Rica! Pura vida.
Looks good. I reckon this type of stuff should be a Tuesday show though and more in depth, with longer format for Thursaday
All our big travel eps are filmed in 2-3 week periods so it's super difficult to get one out each week with so much time away from the editing suite! But maybe in the future we will get to 🤙🏻 That's the dream!
Great work mate I have a 1984 just have to put the engine back in and get couple little things sorted 👍
that paint is just perfect
Looks awesome mate. Well done. 👍
what a beauty!!great job!
Rigs gonna be awesome
Looks schmick. I love the colour choice. 👍
That is going to be one sweet little truck. Nice job, Jocko!!

Make sure you use ACL Race Bearings in the bottom end to handle the Boost.
How much boost are you proposing? Have had a best of 9psi on the stock 2TR bottom end for its initial stages of running a Raptor supercharger though am considering the Rotrex C30-94 after conversations with Bullet Cars & 4wd.

Jock your a bloody legend, great job mate.
Definitely a beautiful nissan that turned out to be! Well done

excellent progress
Hi Jocko the build looks awesome mate 👌 lol it's going to be to good to take off road .all the best wishes with it
Mine was an 81 or 82 on 33s (sometimes 35s)
MAKE SURE YOU SEAL UP THE DISTRIBUTOR!
I kept getting my ignition wet from the fan in a big bog and my buddy started driving his stock samurai in circles around me with water coming in over his doors..
I bought my FIRST Sammi the next week 😂🤣
One of em I shoehorned a mustang motor and trans in 👀! That one was pretty badass. 😉
3rz are excellent engines and sound great with some boost
Vintage Toyota Gang 🎉
Its gunna look sick cant wait to hear it
I like the sneaky Russel Coight moment, left hand right hand shake.
Looks mint, well done
Looks cool as, excellent work jocko
You should keep building up the n70 hilux, do more mods on it
thats my engine🤩 and yes why I chose it for my Africa trip...
What an awesome combo! Solid axle Hilux and a 3RZ. Would be a weapon even without a turbo!
It really will be a weapon - can't wait to put it through its paces!
Looks good
The rocker cover you should paint it the same colour as the car
Doing great jocko keep up the good work.
Come a long way from the 1000 buk lux
What wheels are you going to be putting on it. I only ask because that chrome wheel with the white writing on the sidewall is giving an awesome classic vibe. Awesome job everyone
Gorgeous!!
What a project. 🔥
If you're turbo charging it. What engine management are you going to use? Even if you dont turbo it, will you go after market or keep factory ecu?
Maaaate! It looks awesome!!!
She's a beauty isn't she?!
Nice Russell Coight handshake fellas
rad. hope to see more of this project
Absolutely love it
Good on you jockgreat to see a young bloke having a crack at a restrorration looking forward to the next episode
Such a nice build
Wow it looks so good, the last 5% takes the longest and the most frustrating so close yet so far keep up the good work and the hilux love mate hope its ready for next yrs 4wd show ha ha ha
Looks awesome. I love the retro decals. I'm terms of the chassis, do you know how much it would cost to get one galvanised?
13:19 that left-handed handshake was a bit of a continuity gag approaching Russel Coight levels!
Jocko I need the paint code. That red is amazing!!!
Freeborn red is it, love that colour
nice build , not many 79-83 left in the states ,when new we lifted Them , beat them and 90% of them rusted away
Love ya work Jocko🎉 that paint jobs gotta give you 10% power increase at least. Lol well done mate 👏 👍 🐕🤠
Looks sick
Nice red rocket jocko
Mint job well done
I'll watch this another day, in garage myself, but first thought was should have painted it mud and rocks like landscape. tree or two in the background
Jocko I got some beers next time you're in the states, come on over with that new certificate and help me out on my truck would ya!? haha That red is perfect for that truck!
