Seeing someone react to the virtuoso that is Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits for the first time,is wonderful. Huge rabbit hole for you to go down. Mark is one of the gteat songwriters, musicians and live performers of all time. He is ranked as such too. Enjoy. Dire Straits is one of the biggest bands of all time, saleswise and critical acclaimwise. Great reaction. There is only one Mark Knopfler and hes written so many masterpieces. 👍
Knopfler is famous for his fingerpicking guitar technique , he has his own sound , great songwriter too, natural storytelling. The whole band ....nothing but master musicians.
Love it! Dove deeper. Telegraph road is the encore of this performance. Too many tubes to name. Private investigation, out here in the west, brother in arms willl make you weep. Romeo and Juliette, money for nothing ........one of the greatest rock guitarists of our time!
Grew up with Dire Straits music, cause my Dad was/is a big fan 🤩👍🏻 Mark is just one of the best guitarists of all time 🥰 Their songs are on my playlist until today... 41 years later 😁 Was born in 1983 🤫
Mark Knopfler is one of the best guitarists and song writers, he also released 10 solo albums after Dire Straits. "Telegraph road," "Tunnel of love", " Romeo and juliet", "Your latest trick", "Calling Elvis", "Brothers in arms" and "You and Your friend" are also great live performances. And Mark solo has written great songs as well like "Sailing to Philadelphia", "Speedway at Nazareth", "What it is", "Canibals" and many more. Mark also wrote the music several movies, most famous being "The Princess bride" and also wrote the song "Private dancer" for Tina Turner.
Sweet man thankyou for loving our Dire Straits. . Now they are yours also. Along with all the music that you are loving.. Peace to you and healing coming your way from high country Arizona.. Peace..
Best concert video clip EVER What I love about this clip is how much fun they're having. Making a living like that wouldn't suck.🤑🤑🤑🤑 Shout out to the production crew. The filmography of this LIVE concert is incredible.🤩🤩🤩🤩
Love watching you react to something I've enjoyed my entire life! Mark Knopfler (Singer/Lead Guitar) taught himself to play guitar. He couldn't read music, he's actually left handed but learned to play right handed so he didn't look different from other guitar players, and doesn't use a pick to play. He plucks the strings with the tips of his first three fingers and thumb. This style is actually called the banjo roll and uncommon in electric guitar players. This is common in country, classical, and lots of Spanish music but Mark took it to this level. This is just a small sample. Telegraph Road from the same concert is mind blowing.
Good reaction and I'm glad you like the music. DS is one of the best bands and Mark is a god on the guitar. Terry on the drums is awesome and Alan on the piano, I'm lost for words, but the rest of the band was top notch too. John on bass always dancing, just great. The "Achemy" concert was awesome, see more of it, especially "Telegraph Road" and definitely live Wembley "Tunnel of Love" the outro is so so good
Mark Knopfler, Lead guitar Hal Lindes, Rhythm guitar John Illsey, Bass guitar Terry Williams, Drums Alan Clark, Keys And for these shows July 22/23 1983 additional guest keys, Tommy Mandel.
Thank you for your reaction to Mark and Dire Straits. This has to be (in my opinion) the best live performance I’ve had the pleasure of watching. On a personal note, this is my first time watching you and just wanted to say I hope your journey is a healthy one. I was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma and it metastasized and had heart surgery as well as nephrectomy. That happened in 2016. I will pray/send good vibes your way. Stay strong.
I'm so grateful that I grew up with this music, and I feel a little sorry for anyone who is not familiar with Dire Straits! 😉Not only is Mark Knopfler a guitar virtuoso, but he also did the song-writing, composing and arrangement for the band. That said, he always made sure to allow the amazing musicianship of his bandmates to shine as well. Mark is especially well known for his unique finger-plucking style, excellent tone and unique and nuanced phrasing. Fun Fact: In addition to all of that, Mark was actually left handed, but played guitar with his right, whilst making it all look so easy! I love "Sultans of Swing", and the demo for this track actually got them their first record deal. That said, if you want to really see the breathtaking live musicianship of this band, and the kind of epic musical masterpiece they could collectively produce, you have to treat yourself to their performances of "Telegraph Road" from Alchemy Live; also check out "Once Upon a Time in the West" and "Private Investigations" (you'll love 'the voice' in that one) from that same Alchemy Live concert. The guitar riff from their track "Money for Nothing" is widely considered one of the best. You should also check out "Brothers In Arms", both the official video and the live performance from 'On The Night'. Enjoy!
Terry Williams on drums never missing a beat - his dad was in the audience at Hammersmith Odeon, London, - watching his son doing a big gig. Knopfler told Terry to go All-In to impress the old man.
I never tire of seeing a first time reaction the Dire Straits videos, especially this one. Just look at the smiles on their faces while they were performing, sheer joy. I was in the audience that night and what a night that was. You should check out Telegraph Road from the same album, then for a complete change look for Brothers in Arms. Mark Knopfler is a musical genius, great storyteller, some of the lines from his songs are so moving “all I do is kiss you through the bars of a rhyme” from Romeo and Juliet, best guitarist in the world.
Love Mark looking back at Terry. Terry kept speeding it up. Like old rock bands check out Grand Funck Railroad Inside Looking Out Live 1969. They were a 3 member band back then. They sold out Shea stadium faster than the Beatles did.
I remember the first time hearing dire straits in 1985. When litterally heard this song it gave me goose bumps, one of the greatest riffs of the 80's please could you react to this song called Money for nothing , with back up singer from Sting.and written and performed by Mark knopfler. hands down one of the greatest guitarists in history.you will not be displeased heaing this iconic sounds of the 80'and enjoy.
Mark has worked with many other musicians over the years, including Bob Dylan. He is still producing music. In fact , this year he released his tenth solo album....
If you want some more fast paced, feel good, old school style metal/ rock, you should check out Lovebites. They’re an all female contemporary Japanese metal band that will blow your socks off. 😊
GREAT réaction...liked and subscribed in a blink of an eye because you feel and live music how it should be Believe or not "Telegraph Road" from same legendary concert is BETTER than Sultan of swings...that song is a symphony and it s like how "Bohemian rhapsody" is for Queen...my cent. You will be thankfully without any doubt.
Great band, great reaction! They also did Telegraph Road at this same Alchemy concert! Here is another group from that time, Lynyrd Skynyrd live at the Oakland Coliseum 4th of July weekend in 1977, with the Classic guitar solo Freebird! Here is the link! ua-cam.com/video/QxIWDmmqZzY/v-deo.htmlsi=0k29rVjlmuqxZ25e
You are the first reactor to this song saying "it's sounds like Bob Dylan" I guess about voice. Maybe because all the others don't know who Bob is! Anyway, I'm sure your first impression is deleted at the end, because Mark's voice is literally different. Good reaction. 😍😍
One of my fave performances as well as this is Telegraph Road from this concert. Also the songs Calling Elvis and Private Investigations from DIRE STRAITS - Live " On The Night" 1993 are so good. Love your channel and reaction to my fave artist and band..Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits. Cheers all the best from Australia 👍🎸🎸🎸
You weren’t annoying, good vibes, Mark Knopfler is a guitar god, Dire Straits was a GREAT band. This was their first big song, put them on the map, and ranks so highly as a live performance Orhers have, and will comment in more detail, not needed, me,,, ☑️👌😎

If u wanna have a clear guitarsound just in piking, u will choose a Stratocaster with the single coils.......You celebrate Marc Knopfler, and he is next level on guitars, but hear at the drummer, that fills he play, take the beat up and down like it is need ,...... in my opion he is the onkown Hero behind this song, cause his drumwork was extraordinary

Same, 10 out of 10 performance. Everything just came together perfectly
Iam 83 and like you I like seeing first reaction to watching real talent
Knopfler is famous for his fingerpicking guitar technique , he has his own sound , great songwriter too, natural storytelling. The whole band ....nothing but master musicians.
fun fact is that Mark is also left handed
Exactly! And this particular Version of Alchemy live is From my own opinion The best
Top 10 Guitar Music live performance of all time❤
One of the top 5 , live rock, performances of all time
Arguably the best
I will fight anyone who disagreees. Top 5 any genre really.
Pure talent with no electronic noise
It's all electronic.
All those “pianos” are electric keyboard synthesizers
Love it! Dove deeper. Telegraph road is the encore of this performance. Too many tubes to name. Private investigation, out here in the west, brother in arms willl make you weep. Romeo and Juliette, money for nothing ........one of the greatest rock guitarists of our time!
For a time they were the best band in the UK 🤘🇬🇧
Recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon in London on 22-23 July 1983. There you go Chris, now play, repeat enjoy.

Welcome to my generation of music. No frills, no flashing lights, no back up singers, no fireworks, just pure music.
Mark Knopfler is one of the best guitarists and song writers, he also released 10 solo albums after Dire Straits.

Had the joy of being at Hammersmith O. We thought our hearts and lungs would burst with utter fun and joy.

Great reaction mate. One of my favourite bands. You did them justice. Cheers 😊
Great guitar solos llke this one always bring tears of joy to my face.
The song was written in the 70s. This performance was in 1983.
I'm so glad I grew up in this time, music is great, bands were better. Mark is so freaking talented, he doesn't even use a guitar pic ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Thank you for your reaction to Mark and Dire Straits. This has to be (in my opinion) the best live performance I’ve had the pleasure of watching. Telegraph Road, from this same concert, it'll melt your ears! Won't get Fooled Again, The Who, live, that too will do your nut in.

You know how many of these Sultans reactions I've watched, and you're the first one to make the Dylan reference --- I KNOW RIGHT?? It's uncanny!
Knopfler appeared on three Dylan Records: Slow Train Coming (1979), Infidels (1983) and Down In The Groove (1988) and they toured together in 2012.
i've heard one other.
Terry Williams on drums never missing a beat - his dad was in the audience at Hammersmith Odeon, London, - watching his son doing a big gig.
Knopfler told Terry to go All-In to impress the old man.
Yes! When I found this performance on video, I thought, “Well, now I know where to ask the Time Machine to drop me off.”
You just listened to excellence, but you don't need me to tell you that. It was a 1985 performance of a 1978 song. Thank you.
I never tire of seeing a first time reaction the Dire Straits videos, especially this one. Just look at the smiles on their faces while they were performing, sheer joy. Knopfler has one of the best fucking guitar tones I've ever heard.

1:40 - Indeed he does! Hardly anyone notices that when they first listen to Mark singing, so kudos to you for recognising the similarity. 😀
They took the drum kit off stage on a stretcher in critical condition. Thankfully it pulled through! 😂❤
Powered the song! This entire concert was kinda ridiculous!

Boom. Exactly!
Knopfler and Clapton are the greatest guitarists to come out of Britain. There is nobody close IMO.
Love this man

I feel old, I bought the 1988 best of album of the Dire Straits when it came out. It was one of the first CDs I ever bought.
For a complete change of pace, try their "Brothers In Arms" original video. Guaranteed to get you right in the feels.
And the audience is zoned in on the performance…no cell phone cameras!!!
I'd like to have a time machine to go back and listen to this for the 1st time 😊
You are the first reactor to this song saying "it's sounds like Bob Dylan" I guess about voice. Maybe because all the others don't know who Bob is! Anyway, I'm sure your first impression is deleted at the end, because Mark's voice is literally different. Good reaction. 😍😍
Schecter Dream Machine!!
Check out the official video of “brothers in arms” by dire straits and then watch the live version at Wembley for Nelson Mandela’s birthday 👌
