My father was a criminal defense attorney in South Carolina. He Worked the same part of the state. We all lived on our family farm 17 miles away from Kingstree.
I heard the judge sentence the murderer to life in prison, but he never said " without the possibility of parole", will that mean at some point, quite a few years down the road, that he could possibly get out for good behavior?
I thought it was great that he allowed some emotion to come through (without sacrificing any professionalism). It seems natural, and I'd also imagine the attitude of weary disappointment has more impact on consciences (where they exist) than flat admonishments tend to do.
A judge like that is called a hang-em judge. They are all over the country. The more judges hang (give extreme sentences) the more people become convicted. I'm not saying recidivism or let out of jail early due to overcrowding...I'm saying that now-a-days we are seeing too many heinous crimes and too many people being sent away.
@@jayuski I'm sure you would have agreed with the sentencing, if he had murdered your child or loved one. The victim will NEVER be able to interact with her parents or loved ones via phone call or in person, unlike him. Think about it... 🤔
@Juliet my thoughts exactly. However people in the world today would hate having him as a grandfather. They would rebel not realizing they have something great that many wished they had.
I never had a father or grandfather in my life, this judge has so many qualities that people take for granted. I pray that men would see this and learn from him. You would think so. But many judges are appointed thru nepotism and bowing to the local political machine. Everyone in politics is connected one way or another.
Just as bad as this man is, judges DO send 1000 percent inocent people to prison. Wich is worse than being murdered. Ya be so proud, your sadly confused and one sided mind. Open your mind.

I'm glad the bench is honoring the law in South Carolina..
The sad truth is they genuinely believe their kid is good which goes to show u how much of low standards the mothers have...which explains a lot about how their kids are not disciplined correctly
I don't think life in prison getting 3 meals a day, a TV in his cell and hanging with his homies in the yard is anywhere close to justice. Now the tax payers have the burden of taking care of his crime for the rest of his life. He still gets to live and grow old while brutally murdered someone. That's not justice.
Why so he can make more slaves?!! He could have given him 15-20 years 10 in prison the rest probation. And mandatory sex offenders classes. Also have him registered as a sex offender for another 10 for a total of 30 years. PRISON IS ALSO TO REDEEM REHABILITATION & REINTRODUCTION INTO SOCIETY.
I love this judge who said leniency is not in his DNA and backed up law enforcement in investigating this case stating all roads led back to the defendant who denied killing Samantha Josephson. Actually, I would be glad to have my son judged by this judge bc he seems fair, honest, measured with a level temperament and treats even people who he feels that are guilty of murder with respect. He is a good man. That is the problem with America right now. Parents are not teaching their kids right from wrong and to take responsibility for their actions. Also, murder is wrong. It makes no difference if it's my child that did it!? It still would be wrong and need to be punished! There should not be two sets of rules. There can't be because once you start making exceptions for one person than all law and order breaks down. Everyone must be treated EQUALLY

Lawyers almost always know when their client is guilty, and that is in the large majority of actual trials. Lawyers should not and rarely do feel guilty for skillfully representing a guilty client. That is their job and they are doing it for you, not for the guilty. What I mean by that is that is that you might be falsely accused one day. If that happens, your lawyer will do her or his best to defend you rather than judging you before the jury does. Skilled defense lawyers help ensure that justice is done. When the accused is zealously defended but still found guilty, we can have a high degree of confidence in that verdict. In fact, when innocent people are wrongly convicted it is almost always due to inept defense lawyers.
@@stt5v2002 well said. Defense attorneys who know their client is guilty make sure the State doesn't screw their client and keeps everything within the bounds of the Constitution. That's all they can do.

we need more fathers, parents and just ordinary people like this judge.
How many times have you heard a parent say “He’s a good boy. He was trying to turn his life around”. 🙄
His attorney look like she was embarrassed to stand by him.
Yes how can anyone defend that POS
@@_prettybrownbrown7729 She was probably assigned to him by the state. She’s just doing her job, but it probably disgusted by him.
Why would she even pick up such a case
@@christopherayettey4390 Public defender's don't have a choice.
She knew his ass was guilty the moment she took the case but attorney's have a job to do and that's to defend their client
"For whomever asked me for lenience, that's no part of my DNA"
We need more judges like this.
Yes we do. Love this judge very knowledgeable and mild mannered. For whoever ask me for leniency. That’s no part of my DNA!! Thank You Judge. Awesome Job!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💯💯 One person said she jumped on him and he’s innocent. I don’t know why the lady said the victim jumped him. If that did happen which it didn’t. He could have put her out of the care. Point. Blank. Period. Well she’s dead. 🤷🏽♀️
Excellent!! If my child committed this heinous act, I would put them out of their misery.
Love this judge’s professional and caring demeanor. He has compassion for humanity and human life. We need more Judges like this classy gentleman. Thank you sir. God Bless you saw through this Murder.
This judge is what all judges should strive to be he is what real justice should be he's a amazing person and a pillar of his community
Your honor , what a good and kind man you are. You showed compassion to both families .
Hello Susan
How are you doing today?
Even his lawyer can’t look at the judge because she knows her client is guilty
@@stt5v2002 you brought it home it couldn't have been said any better🎯
@@stt5v2002 well said. Defense attorneys who know their client is guilty make sure the State doesn't screw their client and keeps everything within the bounds of the Constitution. That's all they can do.
@@stt5v2002 well said
Where do hell get these LOUSY defense lawyers from.... HELL? NO SYMPHONY OR SYMPATHY....... he's innocent 😇 LoL LoL lol
The judge KNOWS he's guilty.
He was guilty from the get go
The only thing in this world is about himself!!! He’s evil and I truly feel he’d kill this young black female he shocked up with. She’s crazy to see all that evidence and still hanging around him!!!
He says he's innocent. Yet the police found in his vehicle liquid bleach, germicidal wipes, window cleaner, Josephson's phone & her blood, which was in the passenger seat and in the trunk. You butchered a young lady to death. And for what? Just to be a thug.
"Your kid may have been good as a child, but not now." So many relatives of hardened criminals who are living in denial need to have this point driven home to them.
They were not good kids. The denial goes back a very long ways. That is why the judge said the should've noticed something.
Well if he was a good child, now he’s a terrible adult.
Let's see if you feel that same way when that little child you're holding becomes a criminal.
Soooo true100%
Some are good when they are children some was always demons. Nobody is evil all the time. You can never know how they will turn out. Once you do don't be in denial Parents!
Love how the judge called him on his b.s.
We need millions more like this Judge.
research your strawman and then come back and tell us how great judges are.
This judge is a class act. The epitome of professionalism and wisdom.
The judge basically called him out on his bs. Told him he was a psycho, without remorse. I’m sure he will find friends in prison.
@Q B you know his father?
They are going to tear that ass up literally
@@lisab.2934 ... How do you know that they are going to tear that ass up?
@Q B actually his father is a law abiding citizen who unfortunately has a murder for a son and who is probably tormented every day by the idea that someone he tried to raise to be a God fearing man could become a monster.
@@2punish1 because he murdered a white woman. The skynheads/Neos/Aryans are gonna have a field day with him. I hope they turn him inside out. Especially in a southern prison.
This judge is amazing. Many demons walking around disguised as humans. This is one of them. So sorry this young girl lost her life in such a way.
You right keep therefore your focus on GOD 🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻👍🏻💯% we are surrounded by dark evil 👿spirits and demons on every level
The amount of times he stabbed his victim just proves the level of evil in him. He, like all of those other vicious murdering scum he will join in prison will answer to God. We all have to answer to God for our sins but I'd hate to have to Face him after murdering somebody in such a vicious way like this POS did. Lets see him stand before almighty God and say he didn't do it. But at least the family of that poor girl now know that he will die in prison. There is no peace or solitude in any prison, no place to get away from all the noise of screaming inmates, banging of doors and living alongside the scum of the earth every single day for the rest of his life and never knowing peace ever again. He destroyed a life and his victims families life, but he has also destroyed his own life.
Thank you Judge for recognizing this man is not a a kid or a child anymore. Too many people want to claim grown men who commit horrid crimes are not responsible because they are not mature
Exactly. We have a blight in our society - no matter was country you may reside - and that blight is men committing violent crimes and being given passes.
I've never heard the excuse "he's not mature so he's not guilty" used on anything besides a child.
@@andrewgarner2323 obviously they don’t say it like that… it’s much more nuanced
@@bog4543 hmmmmm. I knew they didn't say it like that, that's obvious. But, lemme rephrase my statement. I've never heard of someone saying an adult male should be adjudicated due to his immaturity, and using his irresponsibility and immaturity as an excuse for their wrong doing.
@@andrewgarner2323 people do that more with young adults who might still be in their teens (18,19) but are old and mature enough to understand the impact and consequences of their crimes
This was an incredibly mesmerizing talk from the Judge. So heart felt & wise. I had never realized that commonly, criminals are unable to go back & relive their horrible actions. That must mean on some level they acknowledge the harm they've done.
