Absolute proof that he would hurt more people if this hadn't gone exactly like this, even in the courtroom deciding his own life he chose to use that window purely for the purpose of punishing and hurting the judge and all related victims with one last hurrah before he gets locked up.
I guarantee he tries over the years to get opportunities to have interviews or anything. Hope he rots in solitary.

This sentencing was so emotional. I have watched many trials online and this was the first time I got teary eyed. I just wish justice swung both ways. There are too many that get away with less time. We need more judges like her. But, please be sure without a reasonable doubt they are guilty, because mistakes cost the tax payers and the innocent. So many people have been found to be innocent and have spent almost their entire lives in prison. But, in this case, he is guilty and he doesn't deserve to walk around and kill anymore innocent people. Justice was served. This guy was totally a killer. I just wish they would have locked him up before he killed these innocent people. He had already committed horrible crimes before he drove into this Christmas parade and he walked. I pray for those we lost and the ones alive with PTSD.

Unfortunately the constitution states that everyone has the right to a fair trial and impartial court. Under the constitution, the judges conduct is not impartial. Because of her conduct, the defendant was offered an appeal due to inappropriate judicial conduct. Once the person is convicted in the courtroom that person is out of the judges hair and the county jail will take over and after that will state will take over. Do you really think that prisoners are making money like that in prison? The family will receive fifty cents each month? Judges sometimes say things like that for the courtroom but it never meant to stick.

The fact that he was out on bond to begin with after he ran his girlfriend over is disgusting. Why isn’t the Court Commissioner and the DA who imposed these low bail amounts on an already violent and serial offender being held accountable for these deaths? As far as I’m concerned, the should be sharing those sentences with this POS. This screams incompetence and injustice. I hope the families sue over this.

Can't sue over it. They have qualified immunity. The best answer is to not elect soft-on-crime DAs and judges in the first place. By your reasoning, everyone in the county who voted for that DA should share those sentences. And I'm not sure I would disagree with that. Voters need to be more attuned to the consequences of their votes. It all boils down to the voter.

It is part of her job, like most any other job, to stay in control. It's easy to do for most us that have a life and work. Millions of judges, every day, stay in control, and deal with nutcases like Brooks, and worse, all day long. It's called having a job.

You're correct. I've been on a lot of these cases and have seen some judges lose it from time to time. This judge exercised this optimum measure of patience and tolerance with Brooks because a mistrial is precisely what he was hoping for. Many defendants resort to that tactic; Charles Manson and his "Family" being a great example.
