2003 - 2010 Toyota Matrix / Pontiac Vibe Backup Camera Install

Watch a full tutorial as a 2009 Pontiac Vibe will have a new backup camera installed. This backup camera will be mounted at the license
plate location in the factory bumper area to a pre-installed aftermarket double din radio.
This video applies to Pontiac Vibe / Toyota Matrix models for years 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. This video also includes camera wiring, installation, and testing!

The 2003 to 2008 models have the license plate on the hatch door

How did you know which wire was reverse and power?

Yeah. This does not work for 2003 to 2008 Toyota Matrix. The license plate being on the hatch means you have to root the RCA cable up through the top of the hatch. A pain in the butt.

I'm curious as to why the ground wire wasn't grounded to the body of the vehicle but tapped into the negative of the reverse light.

*I think it depends on the car…*
In my Subaru I tapped my camera’s ground with the reverse negative, turns out it shared a negative with the turn signals and whenever I was parallel parking in reverse with my turn lights on the camera would distort the video as the light flashed… grounded it to the chassis and it worked perfectly.
A few months later I tried it again with a Corolla and that one didn’t distort the feed since it didn’t share the negative with the turn signal.
(Sorry for my grammar, English isn’t my first language)
