Sorry all! **between the lugs is a 21mm bracelet not 20mm** Also for those asking, the strap featured at 4:25 is actually an Omega Dark Side of the Moon strap with a Longines buckle. I used this since it also has that odd 21mm width and thought it paired well.
Went to my local AD today specifically to try on the Spirit Zulu time, but this watch just blew me away. Honestly pictures and videos don’t do it justice, looks so much better in the flesh. Not a big fan of bracelets so do prefer this on the strap. Thought the 50mm lug to lug might be pushing my 6.7” wrist but on the strap I couldn’t see this being a problem and looked fine. Love the clean legible and no date look of this watch and don’t even mind the 5 star’s. The only problem I have is choosing between this and the BB58 black/guilt dial. Both fabulous watches. Great review 👍
Ooh that is a tough choice! I've actually recently got the new Longines Spirit 37mm now that it is available. It has fixed my issue with the long lugs on the Spirit collection since now it wears extremely compact. Will be doing a review of that hopefully soon!
@@MinuteMon Look forward to that review. Was hoping to get a look at the 37mm Champagne dial today but unfortunately nothing on display at the moment. Have a couple of months before I need to make a decision so gives me a little more time before I have to choose. At the moment my head is saying the BB58 and my heart the Spirit Titanium but that Champagne dial is 😍. Chuck the Zulu Time into the mix and I wish I could have all four. Think my head is going to 🤯🧨
I went into a store to try on a Spirit Zulu Time, but the assistant handed me the 40mm Graphite Titanium as an alternative. The nearest thing I have in my collection to compare it to is a 1971 Air King for that aviation feel. Great looking watch and sat well on my 19cm wrist. The more you look at the dial, the more detail you become aware of. I tried on the steel bracelet blue dial which was really nice but prefer the Titanium.
Gorgeous dimensionality to the dial, and real sharp finishing on that case. I especially love the diamonds on the hours, and that almost every graphical element is applied on this dial. I'm reminded of a bunch of watches: IWC pilots, Hamilton Khaki Field, old school Longines Admirals (5 stars being most obvious reference). Just wish those lugs were shorter, or at least more curved. 38mm or smaller version would be welcome. Date on the original releases is a little weird; they could have dressed it up and aligned it better with the numerals, especially for this price. So going no-date is a very welcome change, for sure.
Glad I discovered this channel! I first found out about you while scrolling through Instagram over a year ago and chanced upon a photo of you wearing a Cartier drive moonphase. Both that, and now this, have become my grail time pieces! Looking forward to seeing more great content on both platforms!
My first mechanical watch was a Hamilton titanium black 42mm back in 2019, I wear this sucker 24/7 as I don't even feel it (nato strap). I only remove it to take a shower...and when I put a dressier watch. My other watches have suffered for years of wrist deprevation. I'm slowly getting back into getting a new one, Longines Ti 42mm on Nato is coming next week. I'll see if I keep it.
Beautiful and masculine piece at the same time. Very well presented here. Hopefully this version will show up at the local AD here. Tried on the steel version and while I originally thought the lug to lug may be a problem, it seemed to fit well on a 7.25 inch wrist, granted that is not exactly a small circumference. The frontal images shown in most media belies its actual curvature which helps it hug the wrist better. The elimination of the date window made this watch that much better to look at.
It will definitely fit a 7.25inch wrist much better than my 6.4 inch! But we’ve had customers who have same wrist size as my purchasing it and enjoying it
Love the video! great job.. I really love the anthracite bracelet at 4.25, can I ask you what type of bracelet is? I don't find it in Longine's website. Can I have the reference if you have it? thank you!
Hi again! At 4:25 in to the video you have the watch on a black strap with a Longines buckle. Is that an original strap? If so could you please tell me the ref.nr. I can´t seen to find it on Longines website.
This is a beauty. I've just recently purchased my first ever watch and hope to work up to something like this one day. Sticking with the more budget friendly watches right now then work my way up! :)
Longines lists the L888.4 as the movement for both the date and no-date versions of this watch. Could you tell me if the no-date version has a ghost date?
@@Cenicebri0 and never got an answer. I did see another video where it was stated there was no ghost date. I saw the watch in the store, but I forgot to check. Looks better in person than in pictures.
GREAT video! I'm really wanting to get the 40mm Spirit and was REALLY interested in the Titanium version, but unfortunately I'm apart of the small group of people who actually do prefer having a date on my watch... So now I'm torn between this one and the original 40mm. But even then, I love the dial color of the anthracite much better than any of the other ones.... SO MANY OPTIONS! But this video really helped, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it Adam! I actually own the blue dial Spirit in my collection and I think it’s fantastic. If you like having the date but want something similar to the anthracite, I’d go for the black dial Spirit if I were you!
Derek, is there a titanium 'patina' developing on the watch? I'm very keen to get one of these, but don't really want that full on titanium oxide layer covering up all the nice brushed look after a while. I would like it to stay looking the way it does from new (scratches excepted).
I can’t confirm that there is a titanium “patina” since the watch just launched this month and it’s very unlikely to see patina so early on. I would say no as most Grade 5 titanium watches I’ve seen do not patina the way you are describing.
Great review. Beautifully clean design , great symmetry with no date and love the applied arabics. My only nitpic would be to drop the stars and have " Automatic Chronometer " instead. Having said that , with its military field watch aesthetic , you could reference it to the watch of a five star general Ha Ha ! Already have an Avigation Big Eye and will seriously consider this as I think it's a knockout!
This watch is a banger for sure 👍 I love the Arabics and the gilt color way is so versatile and classic! I was always a fan of divers but as I get older I love fixed bezel watches and this one is near perfect. Only thing I would change is that 21mm lug width to 20mm! Then it would be more of a strap monster than it already is!!
Firstly a great review. Love this piece, if it's lug to lug was shorter I would have already added it to the collection along side my 58. And as I am now the proud owner of the GS sbga415 I totally agree with your points made about titanium.
Thank you Simon! I think the lug to lug on the Spirit will be a main factor for most people when it comes down to owning the watch aside from it’s already amazing qualities, but at least it wears better on straps.
@@MinuteMon I would take the 37 but no guilt dial! Love that look on this watch! Love the fact they moved the date window on the 37 to the 6, but the titanium imo just blows it away when it comes to the dial itself, two tone, guilt, no date, win!
Nice review. I'm seriously thinking of this one myself. Not sure if I want the 40mm or 42mm though. Wrist size is 7.25. Most of my watches are 40-42. I was looking at the zulu gmt also. I don't really travel much so this may be the right choice for me.
Hi! Great video. I really love this one without that date window bc I have a 6,5 wrist. What do you suggest? This one or the 37 mm black? Id love to hear your opinion!
Definitely the 37mm, I later end up selling my Spirit 40mm because it wore too big, but the Spirit 37mm fit me perfectly and I’m ok with the date there

With all the modern technologies at they're disposal and the potential market share in this segment, one would think they'll be highly incentivize to create dimensions that would suit the vast majority of wrists out there...
I don't mind the stars. To me it's more unique as few watches has that. Plus it gives the watch a more military service vibe? Like military stars :P Idk it also makes it more american looking haha hard to say. Beautiful piece tho, especially those diamond carvings on top of each number

Like contemporary divers are not worn to dive in anything but hot tubs, pilots are rarely shopping for pilots of fliegers. And if they do, it’s just their watch rather than a cockpit instrument.
Frustrating. It’s almost perfect but I HATE the five stars on the dial. It looks they’ve been awarded 5 stars in a magazine review and reprinted them to advertise the watch, like a film or a book. Annoying, otherwise I’d have bought one.
