Ferrari 365GTC4 - A Daytona with power steering
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 тра 2024
- The Ferrari 365GTC/4 has many of the same characteristics of the Ferrari Daytona, but with many additional features that make it the ultimate Grand Touring Ferrari of the early 70's. Unlike the Ferrari Daytona, all of the C4s came with power steering, and when trying to maneuver a very heavy front engine V12 car at low speeds power steering is a much needed feature. Both the Daytona and the C4 share thee same V12 engine, with the main difference being the side draft carburetors on the C4 vs the down draft on the Daytona, making the C4 arguably one of the best sounding Ferraris to ever roll out of Maranello. For many years the 365GTC/4 has been an overlooked and underappreciated classic Ferrari, and it is about time that this wonderful machine gets the recognition it deserves.

Yes, C4 is my favourite out of the Daytona vs C4. I do love the Daytona, but wow, the C4 is something else! Thanks Colleen.
_more beautiful than an SF90 this car is definitely_
I saw a pale blue example a few months ago but couldn't identify it.
Thanks for the video!
Never saw a Daytona with power steering... I thought about a C4 but wound up buying a Lambo 400GT in the mid-1970s because my Ferrari mechanic told me horror stories about maintenance...like having to remove the intake system to adjust the valves. I never regretted the decision, and put almost 40K miles on the Lambo with no problems, and I could do much of the maintenance myself. Still think the C4 is handsome, and I doubt very many current owners put more than 1000 miles per year on their cars. That's one of my several gripes about current Ferrari owners - they treat their cars like extravagant jewelry just to be taken out to show off on special occassions. I drove ALL my cars, drove them hard and took meticulous care of them. A lot more fun that way. But what do I know? I'm just an old guy who owned dozens of "exotic" cars when they could be had for realistic money. And, no, I don't wish I'd kept them all, as I usually financed the new purchase by selling the last car. Back in the day, no sane banker would lend you money on a 10-20 year old "foreign" car of any kind...not even a Rolls (yep, had a few of those...before they became so damned complicated).
The color matched front bumper looks much better imo. A beautiful Ferrari, beautifully presented.
we need engine sounds! Accelerations and downshifts!
I completely agree--I dislike her tattoos as well. It is nice to see this particular 2+2 coupe being featured. It is the 1st time I've seen this model of Ferrari being shown. Thank you.
I’ve worked on a couple.. very hard to get anything done in that eng bay. So fun to drive though.. people can’t get enough of it..
This is the car that is featured (in drawing) on The Cars album Candy-O. This is a nice Ferrari and I’ve seen one in person at a Cars & Coffee event, looked gorgeous in Rossa Corsa over tan interior
Interesting. I'll check that out ! I've only got Singles of The Car's. Don't know why ? I saw a blue met one for sale a while back, said owned by Graham Gouldman of 10cc. I had a Carpenters gatefold album back in the day, had a red Daytona on it. Richard had/has, a massive car collection, I believe.
SALUTE' This 365GTC was one of my favorite dream cars - could have accomodated the "whole family" then....it did result with a 246 GT Euro version - No Regrets - but a major part of my fantasy life. There was a red one. For a while, at a prominant dealer in Portland that had belonged to the celebrity Ann Margret. i had my eyes on that for several months, but i never quite got there. Always dreamed of it though. THANKYOU FOR THIS FINE PRESENTATION ❤
The looks are wonderful but to bring to the absolutely sublime are you ready? REMOVE THE DAMN SIDE safetyMARKERS front and rear. At least the eur versions have a less obtrusive button light on the front fender. Ive seen a few examples w/o and and believe me it makes a miraculous diff. So what if they are govt mandated?! By the way the overhead flourescent light reflections really bring out the body curve. Often that doesnt seem very apparent.
Most folks are detracted by the girl on the hood. Except you and me?
I was wondering of someone would mention that Cars commissioned Vargas to draw that sexy girl draped over the nose of the 365 C4! Also, I remember around that same time the Toyota supra had a similar nose frame which it obviously when I saw it recognize that it was trying to copy the 365 GTC4
This is such a gorgeous car. It has become one of my favorite Ferraris.
FERRARI HISTORY 101.
Great video, good historical information! Beautiful cars and great color.
Thanks!
We are just back from Florida and we saw one in Fort Lauderdale. Amazing car.
Excellent review and content. Your videos continue to get better and better. Keep up the great work kid! 👍👍
Kid? She's a grown woman you punk!!! You're not her daddy!
great videos, love the history and detail you provide
Regardless of the bumpers this car has gorgeous 1970s lines and curves thanks for making this video.
What a GEM :) !
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I LEARNED SO MUCH!!! ALL FERRARIS ARE BEAUTIFUL CARS!!!
Love this car and this video. Beautiful color on this one, suits this model very well indeed.
Right, this GTC4 is gorgeous in that dark red.
Excellent video thanks. I got to ride shotgun many times in a new C4 my friend had bought.
You are really really professional..brava!!
Another top shelf video. 👍👍
You're so unbelievably cool. Very inspiring. You rock!
Excellent presentación as always, thank you.
My first Ferrari ever was this 365 GTC4, in silver grey. And yes, the sound was amazing.
great video of an amazing car !! i am sharing on a my dedicated FB page on 365gt4
Good video very informative thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you!!
Este es el primer Ferrari del que me enamoré (con 7 años). Todavía guardo su estampa de mi album de coches...¡Maravilloso e Incomparable...!!
Beautiful car
So much better looking than the Daytona, especially with the bumper painted. These have always been a favorite Ferrari of mine. Great channel btw!!
An underrated car back in its days, slowly getting through the years a first rate choice for discerning collectors. The one in the video sporting an awesome and uncommon livery.
Lovely colour red!!
Shame not more noise of that wonderful engine!! 👍
Fantastic video!!
Thanks!
I love the new Daytona SP3.
Other than engine capacity and a vaguely similar outline this car uses the majority of components from the 365 GT/4 2+2, the forerunner to the 400GT
This is one of those cars like the 308 GT4 "Dino" 2+2 that everyone has overlooked for decades but when you see one now, you think, "actually that is a really cool car! ". Did anyone spot the one parked up in the latest Bond film "Time to Die" and think that? I certainly did, especially when I remember that in my early 20's you could buy one for less than a VW Golf GTI! Are you sure about the no gated shift? Daytonas had theirs covered by the leather as standard so maybe these did too?
I first saw one as a kid in the '80s and talked to the very nice older couple who owned it for a little while and I have always felt they were really undervalued (especially back then, I think they were in the mid 5-figure range vs several 6-figures for a Daytona). Yeah, they're not iconic or high-impact like a Daytona and, while that was a fair comparison when they were new, it's 50 years later and they should be looked at on their own merit as a vintage exotic and I think they stack up as an underrated design with the appeal (IMO) of less people knowing what it is. Also, the beautiful dark red on that example is the red Ferrari should use instead of that yellow-based red. I'm surprised how much painting the nose improves the look, too.
Love the DaVinci!
Thank you, Colleen, for another phantastic presentation with precious historic background informations!
It´s always a pleasure to listen to you and watch you! (y)
Wonderfully done, young lady. A few suggestions: Your "opinion" is understood. There is no need to mention it. Try "items" or "details," not "things."
Nice car❤❤❤❤❤ Ferrari 😊😊
Was always a dream car of mine I just can't afford one
Thanks : D
I got to see a C4 at my local Ferrari dealer and it blew away the Testarossa for me. I had seen a bunch of Testarossas but I had never seen the C4. It is a cool sleek GT car, too bad there are so few.
A very stylish body on this car. It will easily stand the test of time.
Amazing machine!!
Great video, always liked the look of these cars and have added respect for them now. Just some feedback, it might be worth adding some context around the DOT bumper laws that this was US legislation specifically. Remember your audience via UA-cam is global =)
Excellent review. One of my all time favorite elegant Ferraris and I kick myself for not jumping on a beautiful blue one in Montreal back in 2009 which was going for $75,000.00 cad(Canadian pesos) ! The only down size here are the Borranis wire wheels which look good but go out of whack quickly with all that power. BTW, are flared pants on their way back in or is this just a California thing for ladies?! The 70s were bad enough sartorially for those, hope the virus does not hit again LOL.
parked in the handicap parking... sideways... I would definitely look good in that one
The spider in the Daytona sells for 10 times what the coupe sells for. It’s the Daytona Spider that is the stand out.
Excellent review! If I have ever seen one of these it was far overshadowed by the Dino and Daytona and I may have ignored it due to having a back seat!
I think the V12 with 4 camshafts is Lampredi's, not Colombo's. I think also the last Ferrari with Colimbo V12 was the 365 gt 2+2.
You could be right
If you google this model, you will find that it’s engine is in fact a 4.4L Colombo V12, rather than a Lampredi V12.
regarding 2+2s, can someome explain the link between the 365 GT4, the 412, the 365 GTC4 and the 456? The 365 GTC4 is never listed as the predecessor of the 456 even though it was also a 2+2?
In italy we call the gtc/4 "il gobbone" "the hump" in english I think, because the carburetors on this model are outside from the engine's V, unsual in Ferrari models, this solution have marked even more the front wheel-arches, so that shape is similar to a hump
Hunchback ..I've heard this story too - thought it related to the line of the roof.
The side draft carbs enabled a lower hood height.
The carb layout us reputed to positively affect the exhaust note(s).
What’s the Color Designation of that C4?
The DOT bumper regulations, (along with the pointless sealed beam headlamp regulations) did not apply to other markets than the US. However, manufacturers like Ferrari (and other premium manufacturers like Porsche and Mercedes-Benz) depended commercially to a high extent on the US market.
As well as the ugly sidelight markers
If I could have any car made any way I want, I'd love to have a black Mc Burney Daytona Spyder with power steering and the wire wheels. I loved the long, graceful nose on the Daytona, it's one of the brand's most beautiful cars. I ignore the "purists" who cry "It doesn't have the engine in the back!" Um, the Testarossa originally had its engine up front so I don't get why they're so annoyed by where the engine is. As long as I can start and drive it, I don't care where the engine is...
I'm Envious of all Great Ferraris you get to Drive .
I would have rather seen/heard a lot more driving of the 365GTC rather than just rabbiting on about the car, as interesting as much of the detail might be.
The GTC/4 handles a bit like a truck. Beautiful car, however. Agreed that the black rubber bumper was not appealing. Never got accustomed to the offset steering column. Was often a “gentleman’s” GT that doctors would purchase with a cassette recorder and ring-corded mic (high tech for the time).
That's sad to know, but I still like them, same with Daytona, which I believe was dubbed The Worlds' fastest Lorry !!
Never knew they could be ordered with color matching bumper.
It sounded as if it's been done at a later stage. Plus, the rear one is still black, I think ??
I hated those rubber bumpers. You can’t even tell on this model. I always thought that the designers we lazy when they glued the big rubber slab on.
What’s a “coop”? Can’t find this word in relation with cars…
Are you going to be selling driving gloves? I had to go to Italy to get a nice pair of gloves.
Hmmm. Not a bad idea...
That painted bumper really threw me off. There are some lines on this I really like and a few I don't.
The rubber bumper looked terrible on cars like the Pantera L.
Blame the DOT for that one.
👍🏽
in the USA these cars are much cheaper than in Europe, about half price in many cases!
Ferrari 250 gt swb is the best ferrari ever!!
275 GTB/4
An interesting FIAT commisioned car after Enzo sold the company
In France they now have a law called SCHLABOUBVE, from next year you can only drive 5000 KM with a combustion engine.
Those stinkin' bumpers came about because of the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), a lobbying group. Auto insurers were tired of paying small claims. They mounted a pretty good PR campaign; one ad featured a Duesy *yes, a real one* driven into a barrier "..see, this old car suffered less damage.." What a crock; they said for all that extra weight we'd get a discount.. off our comprehensive. Turned into a de facto trade barrier too (till '81, when the law was relaxed to the 2.5MPH standard).
Am I wrong, or is this the most affordable means of owning a Colombo-V12 Ferrari?
Value range?
@@Fee.1 $350k-$500k I speculate
@@DB-fn3fz what are the top 3 cheapest Ferrari ‘s currently and what do you think is the best of the currently cheapest ones
This one is available for $167,500.
Mondial, 308,348, dino gt4
As you can see the only important thing is the leather driving gloves!
Those look like the worst shoes for driving
The painted front bumper is a BAD thing. It's historically incorrect and made only to cope with today taste.
I wouldn't say bad, its their car they can do whatever they want with it. And paint can always be removed.
This car is timeless beauty. The tattoos, not so much…
Rude🤔
Sono d'accordo, anche l'emblema con la puzzola lo trovo offensivo
Bad form.
That is really bad form to criticize someone like that. They are not threatening or excessive, they are probably very meaningful to her, people usually don’t make permanent changes to their bodies without a good reason.
@@minatormyth But a fair point
Chevrolet copied this design in the ‘70s…. Monza GT.
The gloves make the video
Intense!
No Comparison to a Daytona , the gtc4 is the Homely Sister .
My comments keep getting censored 😓😑
Stop writing about the boobies
I dont see any of your comments getting held for review? Must be youtube being weird.
@@FerrarisOnline DUDE IT CENSORED MY REPLY TO THIS AGAIN. wtf. I remember this happening ages ago now actually and them whining about it in your UA-cam comment section. You might have comment moderation set pretty high? Idk. Weird. I literally didn’t say anything remotely worthy of it and even misspelled the only curse word on purpose 😂
Anyway I’m giving up. Idk how to say it and still have it make sense at this point and I don’t feel like typing the paragraph again just to find it disappeared later. I even checked last time and it was still there a minute later. Should’ve waited longer apparently
Quite dangerous putting a woman behind the wheel
Power steering is for sissies. Get a Nissan Sentra.
Let’s get this right, u reviewed this ugly Ferrari 3rd time on your channel. Ferrari Mondial 8 (bumper painted) is much better looking car with no review on ur channel? lol
We haven't had any mondials recently. We video cars as they come in, as long as they are not private deals. 😀
Love this car …….. unfortunately so underrated
What was the C4's name???
All these bloody women becoming car experts . Anything to get a camera on them
WTF is your problem yobbo? She actually knows her stuff...... it's not about the camera. There's plenty of female petrolheads..... don't be such a bore.... a woman that has a passion for cars, any real man would love that.
