- The Ferrari 328 GTB is an iconic car. Ferrari only made 2,053 US model Ferrari 328 GTS and only 123 US model Ferrari 328 GTB, with only 33 made in 1989, which is the most desirable year of the Ferrari 328.
With only one being made in Black on Black.
This 1989 Ferrari 328 GTB is not just the one of one, black on black US model, but it was also owned by Chad Mcqueen, An American actor, film producer, martial artist, Race car driver and son of Steve Mcqueen.
If you grew up in the '80s, then there's no doubt that you had a picture of the Ferrari 328 hanging on your wall. Why wouldnt you, in the 80s, a top speed of 160mph~ and a 0-60 time of 6 seconds~ it truly was a masterpiece of its time. Appearing in many different films of the time and could commonly be seen blasting down freeways. The Ferrari 328 is trues a timeless classic.

. I bought them with almost ZERO knowledge of Ferraris! So this was a TRUE gamble…
Ready to be envious? I bought the pair for….44k AND it came with a Boston Whaler boat! An odd trio to be sure. My son inlaw got the boat, and we kept the cars for 15 years.

You are right. Enzo fixed the leg room problem with the 328. Taller customers complained that Ferrari sold cars to customers that were 5'9 and under.
RUMOUR - the 328 GTB coupe is actually up to 1 second quicker than the 328 GTS car. You mentioned that the initial 328 GTB's had carburettors. This is strange as the 1983-84 308's were fuel injected quattrovalve engines.
I had a book on the 308 and 328. It was very informative.
I didn't realise that the 328 GTB coupes were mainly for the European & Middle Eastern Market.
You're correct in saying only 10 - 15% of 328 GTB coupes were sold in the USA.
There were NO right hand drive 328 GTB's produced. This upset many a rich UK, Hong Kong and Australian buyer.
There's a story doing the rounds of a UK gentleman who purchased a black 328 GTB coupe from the US and had it converted to Rhd.
In Australia if you can find a 328 GTS in any other colour than traditional red, they sell up to $US50,000 more than the Rosso Corsa cars.
I didn't notice her say it, but you are right that all 328s, and indeed all 308s from the gtbi/si onward were fuel injected. However, it's not true that there were no RHD GTBs produced. I can't speak for Aus or HK but according to Ferrari's own figures the UK got 130, of which 53 were ABS models. I have myself seen several at Club events, driven a few, and have a friend who still has one.
I own a RHD GTB and it’s a 1989 so 1 of the 53 supplied to the UK. I think you may be confused with the 288 which were only LHD and a certain gentleman had a black one converted to RHD. She was referring to the 308 models when she mentioned carbs as these were the first lineage of these models.

Great video -- really enjoy the enthusiasm and appreciation you show for these cars. I have an 87 328 and there are so many neat little features and details to marvel over. And a lot of strange engineering and design decisions too, but that's part of the charm.

Thanks much for this great presentation, Colleen & Team. I really enjoyed it and also learned something new about the 328 even though I have one myself. E.g., didn't know that the door opener in the later model actually moved to the arm rest, and I didn't know about the hanger which indeed is quirky and useless;-) I have one question, though: you mentioned that there have been only 2 cars in black paint for the US market in '89. I was wondering where to get such info on color and number of cars from. My 328 GTS is a '87 in Marone Metallizzato and also with Marone tan which is an addtl treat to the great color - but I was never able to find out how many cars had this color and color combination. Do you know where to get the info from? Thanks again for the great video!
being in the ferrari buisiness for 50+ years we have a large network of ferrari historians such as ourselfs that have tracked the cars and histories. There were so few GTB made, especially in 1989, so its easy to keep track of them.

She nailed it with her cool wardrobe to match this animal… great sales professional…. Ok if you don’t make it to…. The Quail? Take it on a highway but take the original glass lamps and place acrylic ones… pedal to the metal let the horse roll out and put the radio on loud to “ Back in Black” by AC-DC ok… but go to The Quail and win there first…

I thought that the Testarossa also looked good black on black. Ferrari had some problems in certain years of the red fading and the cars having to be repainted. GM also had a bad problem with their red fading on 1984/85 Corvettes and Fieros. Red and yellow can really be bad about that.
It would really be unique if you guys ever got your hands on a Venturi Atlantique. I don't think they were ever imported to the U.S. market.
