I don't fish and barely cook. I honestly don't even know how I found this channel. I can't stop watching your videos! So interesting, informative, and entertaining. Appreciate all the effort you put into them.
My friend you have one of the realest channel on UA-cam 👍🏽 You are always straight up with everything. Thank you Vern from Philadelphia Pennsylvania 👍🏽
I'm in Alberta, Canada, and it would be awesome to go on a fishing, foraging and cooking episode with you and others in the future. It looks so awesome. Cheers, Taku and Jocelyn! ✌️
I’ve watched you for several years-so glad you went to POW’S ISLAND!!! I’m from OREGON GO DUCKS but lived on POW in CRAIG late 80’s-90’s!!! Best memories and still have lots of friends who live on the island!! SO BEAUTIFUL there!! ❤❤❤
You guys should reach out to Luke from The Outdoor Boys channel. He is super humble and loves the outdoors too and lives in Alaska. Could prob make some killer content together!
The white balls in the coho fillet is tapicoa disease (Henneguya salminicola). It's common in coho here in Washington. Sometimes just in the tail sections, other times all throughout the flesh.
Kelp Chili Crisp is amazing and I'm so happy I can get it at my local World Market here in Cali. Jocelyn is simply glowing in this episode. Beautiful. You're a lucky guy Taku. What a trip. What a crew. Amazing.
29:17 .. the moment Taku sees the gas on the surface of the water and moves the camera lol and brother! you gotta get yourself some mooching reels they're way more fun than level winds
Since you are self guiding, you can keep two of any sized halibut. I'd take those pinks and catch a cow halibut. Use the whole fish for bait. If you go to another part of SE Alaska, you can self guide on larger enclosed cabin boats, like a Northriver.
As a Southeastern Alaskan, you should really consider using the pink salmon for halibut bait. And ... King salmon has been closed throughout all of Southeast Alaska for almost a month, not just retention, but even trying to catch one.
Have ALWAYS had luck with pinks and silvers in "upstream" mode, but still in the salt with silver & orange Kastmasters. Chrome & blue too. Something about the action also gets trout upstream, too..😊
Taku, good to see you with Adam and the guys in Alaska. I happened to get 2 Japanese cookbooks from a friend who was moving, The Japanese Kitchen (Shimbo) and Japanese Vegetarian Cooking (Richfield). I am looking forward to reading them. ❤
Love this video, mainly because Alaska is one of my favourite places in the world but, in this case, it's because Jocelyn has been very vocal this video and I thought it was particularly cute that she was praying to the Salmon Gods for a big fat Coho and THEN getting one. Great job again. Hope you guys come back to Australia soon.
Taku, I have to thank you so much for taking us along on your adventures also thank you so much for introducing me to athletic NA beer I am little over 11 months sober and Athletic is a very nice option/treat to enjoy, hazy ipa is so good!!!
Hey Taku idk if you'll see this but I remember you guys wanted to buy land. I would say wait till Sep 18th FED is going to reduce interest rates on that day. Housing prices are going down and even properties so you'll find the best deal very soon in like a month. Keep looking tho god bless brother love the vids
I’ve been working in Japanese food for 6 years now , and he honestly gives me ideas when I’m ordering my employee meal Coworkers always wanting to try a piece 😂
Wow we’re both in Alaska the same time man! I came all the way from Tennessee, first full day here in Seward. Would be so dope to finally meet you and catch stuff together. Caught my first coho today 😁
good food makes a good time and yall got way too many guys called chef for it to have been a bad week. looks like a blast. hope to have a chance to join in future!
Is there any way of getting your kelp chili crisp to Canada? My wife and I have been trying to find it in Seattle and cant fins it there either. Love the content you inspire me every video.
hi. I enjoy your videos. I am from Canada. btw. earlier in the this video you showed Nickfish and you were explaining that it was his first time to Alaska. anyway nick said Tleckko. did he mean thank you in my native language?
Note . Have boat engine issues in Ak you can’t 100% fix ? Get back to land, or limp back to base . 35 years , seen trips go sideways because folks did not heed this #1 rule . Fun times looks like so far though . Be safe. .
Love your channel (I've been a follower for 5 years)! This video convinced me to visit Prince of Wales Island this coming summer! I have a question regarding groceries/provisions for cooking at the Alaskan Escape cabins: How well stocked are the stores in Thorne Bay? Do they have ingredients for Asian dishes, by any chance (short grain rice, nori, etc.)? Or did you bring some provisions from home?
They cooked up some nice salmon dishes to "crack cans" to. Great content Bro, loved it. A big scenic interest in Alaska. See yall next time. Memphis,10🇺🇲ps, I apologize for the troll I beat up.
Hey Tacu. I'm a huge fan of the channel! Love for you to visit my hometown of St. Anthony Newfoundland.canada. Great fishing and hunting! Could even help with a fishing expedition and accommodations. Lots of cool things to do and see!... experience things like our Viking site! Trevor Simms

What do you do with the Fish then? throw it away or make it into Compost?
@@vorlon81 It's safe to consume so long as you cook it thoroughly, but I personally just toss it.
@@losaturn90 yeah no need to take risk.
Watching your videos reminds me of the good things in life. Appreciate everyday!
Biggest black bears in Alaska used to come from Prince Of Whales Island. Why? Mild weather, short winters, lots of berries and fish!
love this channel so much. Every time you guys post a travel video I get extremely excited!
A trip of a lifetime! Couldn’t have been in a more beautiful and bountiful place with the coolest most down to earth peoples!

Yay, I’m so glad for this upload! I need a little cheer before I watch the USA debate 😅😂
I love making salmon jok. I save my salmon bones to make fish stock and it pairs perfectly with jok.
Some day you’ll have to meet up with NWFS there in Alaska, that way we can all hear, fish on baby, echoing out over the bay lol haha 😆
As a Southeastern Alaskan, you should really consider using the pink salmon for halibut bait. And ... King salmon has been closed throughout all of Southeast Alaska for almost a month, not just retention, but even trying to catch one.

Great video. GoPro must've died at around 30:14. Was enjoying the salmon catch and it cut to dinner time.
You should go to Kodiak Island in Alaska. I have two uncles up there with crabbing boats. Like the deadliest catch.

You are legendary my brother ✌🏼
That coho was half her size! Nice
Brother try slowing down to 1.5mph for 15-25 seconds, then speed up to 2.5mph. Slowing down gives the fish time to catch up and strike the lure.
I'd be glad to be your boat mechanic on any fishing trip.
