This is a very cool video! I live in the NW, a video with a boat set up for the Columbia would be cool. The reasons why the guides have there boats set up etc... my 2cents :)
Nick your father told you right. I'm 73 years old and I worked everyday of my career. That was do to the fact I didn't become a fishing hunting guide. I just had a job.
Had a friend back in the 1980s that took up guiding. I fished a lot with him when he was checking out areas. I noticed how his skill of catching fish got better and better. I also know that he had a lot of Winter Steelhead trips scheduled that some years had to be cancelled due to so much rain the rivers he fished were blown out and sometimes at flood stage. Summer Steelhead he did good but the winter fishing was really difficult because of weather and a few years I remember the river getting in shape and then another big storm would hit. His dad had a business and when he got ready to retire asked him to take over. He did and told me his wife would of been really upset if he had told his dad no. His wife had a good job making good wages. His income was hit and miss mainly due to winter storms. He also was guiding on the Deshutes River assisting another guide. Back then too many guides and too many people on the river. They cut a whole lot of guides and if you were at the bottom of the list as to when you started you had your permit cancelled.
We recently fished Buoy 10 for Coho and Chinook Salmon. I put a second unit in the back of the boat Helix 10 G4N. Use it for Mega Live. We got in an area with fish and could actually see the salmon swim by and the tail moving back and forth. My wife and I could see around three different salmon swim around. We got one good take down and gone out of that group. I needed to increase Sensitivity and Contrast for a better result. Maybe next time. My TR-1 stopped working and had the Garmin Reactor 40 installed with the GHC 50 because of not having a Garmin unit. Guy told me those Humminbird units are better for lakes and I guess Bass fishing. I told him in 2017 I had a Garmin Echomap 94SV and the side imaging was terrible. He showed me demo on Garmin unit of Si and I was not impressed. I showed him a great photo of what the Humminbird side imaging looks like with fish all over the river bottom. He told me Garmin is better because they work better in ocean etc. I have no idea on that but the Humminbird seems to work fine.
I’m tired watching as I sit at my desk closing workers for the end of month budget- dank now I have to go home have couple beers 🍻 maybe cast my Dock demon deluxe so I feel like I went fishing today !!!!
dang what a video great job everyone cool to see all the different styles of the guides and all the catches ya'll have a crazy good fishery out there this year
We watched a guy at Kamper's West cleaning station with two limits of Coho use a hose and wash all the color out of them. I could not believe someone would do that and just keep right on hosing the fillet down till the color was out of it.
I've been thinking about taking one of yalls Guides out there. I love your stuff. I always fish the pacific, around half moon bay. But it's been closed for almost 2 seasons now. And I need to get out there on some salmon. But say I wanted to try going out there by myself, got any tips?
I'll tell you something about wild/ native fish looks out for what is what I call an excapement fish. You'll see it at hatcheries. I have. If not why They putting adipose fish in the hatchery Creek. Instead of a clipper?
@@coleebright8487 Jordan was filming in Canada, movie coming soon! I don’t think Sean has ever dropped the camera or anything like that, we have crashed a couple drones.
It would be nice if you guys just kept the first ones to fill your limit and quit harassing them fish how many times were the same fish caught in that fishery learn from the native people
Grew up fishing nothing but a bare naked herring no flasher or anything then all the sudden the 360’s came out and I couldn’t ever get anything on herring anymore
Can someone please explain how you choose the depth to set the rods too? I know theres a lot of factors like weights, current, speed, water depth etc.. but is there a general rule of thumb? Everyone always says you want to be on bottom then i see these guys setting rods to 28 or 30' in 45' + of water. Its easier to hold bottom in shallower water obviously but in deeper holes do you just set them where you're marking fish? Thanks for any input.
@@AddictedFishing thanks for the response. Say you're running 12oz of lead and you want to get down to 25'. At 3.5mph I would probably put my gear out to 38 or 40. I have cheap electronics so can't see my gear on them i just have to kinda guess. Is that too far out or am I in the ballpark?
Wow! Plenty of excellent advice here. Each guide finds what works for them and in many cases it’s slightly different which means variety wins. Guides have that communication line with each other which beats anything I can do by myself. Good fishing to all.
Addicted movies are the best movies! 🔥🤙🏼🎣

Popov lives in those green gloves! He even has them on in the house for dinner hahahaha
I'm only halfway into this and it is BY FAR the best video Marlin has ever produced!
That was my favorite full length movie Addicted has produced! Thanks for putting this film together, Marlin!

Great movie guys! Awesome to feel the pull while stuck at work.
And for the record, POPOV is the best all around fisherman. Period. From the Lewis down, Cam is hard to beat.

What do you normally run Sensitivity and Contrast on for Mega Live?
@@Askeyb2011 I change it constantly depending on current, tides, etc

You watch your electronics and put your gear with the fish are at.

You could always drop, hit your speed, check the angle off 90°, and triangulate the depth on the hypotenuse if you need it to be perfect…

Why is Marlin like this.. 🤦♂️
Nicks boat is sooo slick though.
Hey, at least we let all those “wild” fish go so we could leave 50% of our quota on the table.
