    Hey Taku, we need to have a chat my dude... I've long been a fan of adding some spice to nearly everything I eat, be it a little chili oil, countless hot sauces, Gochujang, onion or garlic chili crisp, even some homemade garam masala. My problem is that I finally went and ordered a jar of the Kelp Chili Crisp about a month ago, that jar lasted barely a week even though I felt like I was rationing it, I put it on everything... Once I noticed that there e was only 1/4th the jar remaining, I started panicking and immediately ordered two more, which I received 17 days ago and just this morning as I realized that jar #3 was nearing empty, so I ordered four (2 x 2-packs) more jars, but I'm currently sitting here with anxiety after Barnacle informed me that the estimated arrival is Wednesday, three days away.
    The last time I can remember getting this addicted to a food product was over 7 years ago when I discovered genuine hatch chilis, but I could go a few days in between eating those, I haven't managed to go more than half a day before putting the Kelp Chili Crisp on or in something.
    You've created a monster. I've tried tons of different chili crisps over the years, and while I've enjoyed them, none had this effect on me.
    What the heck are you guys putting in those jars?
    Should rename it Krack Chili Crisp.
    My most sincere request, please, please, please ask Barnacle to offer a 16oz or 32oz jars? I'd gladly pay $35-$40 for 16oz jars, $65-$75 for 32oz. It would be nice to be able to order a jar that would last me a few weeks at a time.
    I seriously hope you're proud of yourself Taku!
    Tight lines 🎣

    Lived in Petersburg for 15 yrs and sport fished /Sumner Straits, the Wrangle Narrows and Frederick Sound for Everything. Most trips were for the Wily Chinook Salmon which used nearly the same setup you had there for the Coho. Throw a Shrimp or Crab pot out on the way to ur fishing grounds and if you got skunked fishing, you always had some Shrimp or Crab. Some Halibut trips you might accidently hook into a Chinook while you were letting line out or winding in. Good Times. the freezer was Always full.
    The wife ran a smokehouse out of Charleston Ore for a while so smoking Salmon became a habit. Coho was always my favorite.

    One thing about using salmon carcasses for crab bait. It works well, but the seals like it as much as the crabs and will destroy a pot or trap to get to it. And might even drag it hundreds of yards in the process. Use what ya got, but be aware of the pesky pinnipeds.
    Great video!

    I have a smoker and never used it, but I have never eaten seafood outside of fried tiny shrimp from the restaurants. I looked up the purpose for smokers and I am considering giving it a try with some of the white and red meats that I eat. I really enjoy these nature videos and use them as a guide for how to prepare meats and such.

    • @heruhcanedean
      @heruhcanedean 7 місяців тому +2

      How low temp can your smoker go? Can it go down to 50C/120F?
      Mine is a modified store bought one that runs on propane. I love smoking meat, but my method takes 6+ hours.

    • @dirtyfiendswithneedles3111
      @dirtyfiendswithneedles3111 7 місяців тому +1

      The best smoked meats are big well marbled primal cuts however red meat is a bit outta my price range. The smoker kinda tricks me into thinking cheaper cuts from even white meat is so enjoyable that I don’t feel like I’m missing out on expensive cuts like beef ribs, tenderloin, and ribeye. Pork spare ribs and thick cut low and slow chuck steaks on oak, beech, walnut, hickory, apple, or cherry? I’ll definitely be satiated in the meantime between now and the next time I can afford something like king crab or ribeye cap. I have never even eaten American “wagyu”.

    • @dirtyfiendswithneedles3111

      If you are a meat eater and you haven’t at least tried the stereotypical Texas BBQ spread… I don’t think you are living life to the fullest. As a Tennesseean, I hate Texas. The only good things to come outta Texas is Janis Joplin and the all mighty low and slow.

    • @jamescorry63
      @jamescorry63 7 місяців тому

      try something simple like a "chicken portion , ,, which ever piece you like ,,, taste any brine you make before subjecting your food to it ,,, soak meat in brine for a minimum of 1/2 an hour ,,, now try and dry it out as much as you can , now smoke it , experiment cos thats the only way for YOU to get what you want

    • @heruhcanedean
      @heruhcanedean 7 місяців тому +1

      @@dirtyfiendswithneedles3111 "The best smoked meats are big well marbled primal cuts" ? I prefer elk which is a very lean meat and nothing is more primal than harvesting your own meat and butchering it yourself. Look how lean that salmon he smoked was, I bet it was way more tender than stereo Texas shit. PNW knows how to smoke too, more than meats.

    Iv lobster fished for a long time. And one thing that seemed to make a pretty big difference with cathing those is to make sure theres a little bit of room in the bait pocket for the bait to be able to slosh around. If its packed too tightly only the outer surface area gets exposed to water to allow the smell to spread.
