Hi Matías, I've heard of the same problem from other folks. I know you can send and receive files in the Chat box in Zoom on the desktop software, but I don't believe it works the same way on the iPad. Is it possible for them to send a link the Chat box that links to a file stored in Box or Dropbox? Not sure if that will work, but please let us know.
Hi @Leanne Mumford I'm afraid there is not a "mirror me" option on the iPad like there is on the desktop Zoom application. It doesn't look like any of the mobile Zoom apps can do this :(
I dont know if this is it but if you go to "settings", find "meetings" and scroll down to the "mirror video" and enable it, i dont really know if it is the one but I hope it is!
Hi Lena, yes you can show a PowerPoint presentation during a Zoom meeting on your iPad, but when you switch out of the Zoom app to show the PowerPoint presentation, unfortunately your camera will turn off. You meeting audience can still hear you, but they can't see you. This is true for most iPads, although I've heard a rumor that the newest iPad Pros from early 2021 will still keep the camera on, but I haven't been able to confirm this.
Hi @Vicky first in order for screen share to work you need to be on at least iOS version 11 so if you have an older iPhone or iPad that doesn't support iOS 11 then it will not work. Next, you may need to give the iOS permission to share your screen or else the option may not be there.
I have the same problem. I used to have screen as a choice in share content but now its gone. I have latest ios 14.4 and also updated zoom. How do i get it back?
Your video is so helpful. It is exactly what I was looking for. I must say that your teaching style is so friendly and pleasant. I just subscribed to your channel. Mentors like you is what the world need! Peace to you and your loved ones!
Hi Premi, I don't know if the iPad Air supports virtual background images - here are the requirements: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360043484511. But also, once you're in a Zoom meeting, try tapping the "More" button and then tapping "Background and Filters" (support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/210707503-Changing-your-Virtual-Background-image). If you don't see that button then I'm afraid you can't add backgrounds on your iPad model.
Hi @William Hall I don't believe you can add participants to a meeting unless you are either the Host of the meeting, or you have been make a Co-Host of the meeting (by the Host).
I'm doing my online classes on zoom on my iPad and for some reason I can't see every participant. Like I can see only two participants and the person who is speaking. I want to see everyone, can you please help?
Hi @Samaha Khan I would suggest using the "Gallery View" so you can see multiple participants at once, although on the iPad you can only see up to 9 participants at one time. You can read more here: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362323-How-Do-I-Change-The-Video-Layout-
Hi Cee Jay, if you have a free account with Zoom you can record meetings locally to your desktop or laptop computer. But the iPad will not allow you to record meetings locally. If you have a paid version of Zoom, you can start a CLOUD recording from the iPad (see support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203741855).
thank you, this was SUPER helpful! i asked my 11-year-old the basic functions of the app and she had quite a giggle at my expense 🥺 now i don’t feel like such a dunce. lol.
Hi there, thanks for this great tutorial. I have a question for you. Is there a way to turn on mirroring on Iphone in Zoom. I don't seem to see the setting. It works on my desktop but I don't seem to see it on my iphone. I'm hoping to host my Zoom live concerts using my phone as the camera and microphone are much better than on my desktop and laptop. If you know how to turn mirroring on so the writing on my signs, etc face the right way, that would be fantastic!
@@peacefulpigeon7254 Hey there, I figured it out. If I use the back camera instead of the selfie camera the view switched so any signs that I hold up can be read properly, the lettering goes the right way!
Hi @Linda McRae I see you figured out to use the back camera which is great! But then of course, you can't see yourself. But if that works, that's wonderful. The only thing I would suggest is to test using the front camera again with someone that you know to see if you're only mirrored to yourself. Here's a good article on what I mean: www.pocket-lint.com/apps/news/152025-why-is-zoom-video-backwards-and-how-to-fix-it. You may only looked mirrored to yourself when using the front camera, but your participants may see you in a regular way. Let us know if that works!
@@AppsinLaw Hey thanks so much! I'm using Zoom and I recorded the video it was still backwards. I'm ok with it because I'm actually seeing my photo on Zoom. One thing I'm wondering though, is it possible that having this extra added camera is taxing my internet. I'm sure having more different elements engaged would slow down the internet? I'm using Ethernet on my IMac but have to have the phone connected to the same network so still have the wifi connected on both the phone and the computer. Sure is tricky all this new tech stuff. Especially when you've packed on a few more years than the the 20 somethings, heck the 50 somethings!
when im in a class and the teacher asked us to answer something online and my safari will open and the camera will be off and my teacher asked me to on it how should i fix it
Hi Marylou if you turn on the Whiteboard mode you should be able to draw on the screen. But if you are sharing your screen, you cannot annotate on the screen when you are sharing your entire screen as per support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005706806-Using-annotation-tools-for-virtual-meeting-collaboration.
Great info, and clearly presented. I have an issue not addressed though. When I use my iPad Air in portrait mode on a Zoom call, the picture is very narrow, taking up little of the available space. In landscape mode it's but, because of camera placement and the problem with my appearing to be looking to the side, I’d prefer to use portrait mode. Do you know why portrait mode is so odd, and is there a fix?
Hi @SS W I'm not sure exactly why you're having an issue with portrait mode but maybe try switching to "Gallery View" when you're in a meeting to see if that helps with the video size: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360000005883-Displaying-participants-in-Gallery-View
@@AppsinLaw I have the same problem, if I’m reading it correctly.. it isn’t the image of the gallery that is annoyingly narrow, but outgoing image of myself. Other folks on the zoom often complain to me, but as @Ss W said: iPad, camera placement, eye contact. I would love to know it there’s a workaround for this. Thanks. Thanks
Hi @Max Bergmanis thanks for posting the question! The meeting host has to give you premission to annotate on their screen, or sometimes you can request to annotate on the whiteboard.
Hi Dennis, if you follow the instructions on this page for screen sharing (including the audio component at the very bottom of the page - support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005890803-iOS-screen-sharing) then you should be able to play a video on your iPad with audio, even while your microphone is muted.
Hi Eastern Guy, yes there should be a speaker icon in the upper left corner. If you don't have one I would be concerned that the Zoom app hasn't been given permission to use the speakers or that your speakers are defective. I would also want to know what iPad model that you have to make sure it's fully supported.
Excellent tutorial. Can you explain please how to write on a document using I pad and apple pencil . And using zoom how to share a live session. As in the other video it showed the annotation staying on the screen but in this case i want to solve the answers under the respective questions .ising an exam paper for mathematics. Does it require the camera to be focussed on I pad? Or what software would switch between the 2 views. Showing yourself on the screen or showing the workings on the question paper using the I pad and Apple pencil. Thanks
Hmm, good question Sada and I would need to know a little more in order to give you a definitive answer. But my first though is that you can share the Whiteboard function inside a Zoom meeting and that should give you the ability to write on the screen. Or perhaps you could share your full screen from the iPad (support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005890803-iOS-screen-sharing) and then use an app like GoodNotes or Notability to write on the exam paper. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the reply. I will try and follow what you have explained. Is there a possibility in the future if you could make a video covering this topic please. And also if I can get a notification? So that I dont miss out. It will be highly appreciated. The topic to be linked which I am looking for is teaching GCSE Mathematics. How do we show students using the calculator in real. Something i am exploring about using phone camera..tripod. etc. It is not clear. Also with an hour session tutorial/ lesson the person teaching should have full grasp over these areas of IT/ technology. Sometimes in questions a paper pencil graph sheet is used to explain the question. This is also I need to work on. As before teaching face to face was simple but with Covid it is different. Thanks again.
As a public middle school teacher in nyc, I profusely thank you!!! The learning curve is sharp and well, sadly it's December 2020 and we're still dealing with it.
Hi @Deborah Cardona I'm SO GLAD to hear your comment! Thank you for taking the time to write a note. You are so welcome and let me know if I can help otherwise. Also check out my other related video covering 3 more tips: ua-cam.com/video/VSVYNK632io/v-deo.html
Hi @Al Smith in order to do this, you'll need to enable "screen sharing" on your iPad. Follow the instructions on this page: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005890803-iOS-Screen-Sharing and see if you are then able to share music.
Hi @Alic Fox I'm afraid you can't manage breakout rooms on an iPad - see support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206476313-Managing-Breakout-Rooms under "Limitations." Participants can Join breakout rooms from an iPad, but a host can't Manage breakout rooms from an iPad.
Hi Manjiri, I know that you can use Split Screen on your iPad while you're in a Zoom meeting, but I don't believe you can screen share that window in Split View.
Hi @lerna in order to use a virtual background on an iPad, you have to have at least an iPad Pro or the 5th and 6th generation iPad 9.7. Once you're in a meeting, you can tap the "More" button and then "Virtual Background" to select a picture for your background. If it's not there, your iPad model may not support that feature.
I've recently had trouble on my ipad. I joined someone else's meeting from 9-10am and left or it was stopped. But then when I start my own meeting at 10:30, no one comes in and found out they are told I'm in another meeting or preparing something. Can you give advice? Didn't use to happen.
Hi Bonnie, not really sure what's happening here, but I would recommend that you fully close the Zoom app and then re-launch it. If you have a home button, double click it and flick up on the Zoom app to close it. Or if you have a newer iPad without a home button, then swipe your finger all the way up from the bottom of the screen and then flick the Zoom app up to close it. See if that helps.
This is one of the most helpful, thorough videos I've watched on Zoom and I've watched a few. Thank you. I tuned in to find out what to do when I share a screen, open a video in Chrome (UA-cam or SoundCloud) and suddenly the audio on my device is almost inaudible--I am not muted and my own device volume is maximized. I found the only thing that helps me hear is to use a headset with a microphone. My viewers can hear OK but I cannot. Any suggestions welcomed. This does not happen when I share a screen and I am hosting from a PC but it does happen when I host a meeting from an iPad.
Hi Arlene and THANK YOU so much for your kind words! So happy to that you found the video helpful. My second video is at ua-cam.com/video/VSVYNK632io/v-deo.html. And what you've described, I'm afraid I have heard the exact same thing from several other folks and I haven't been able to find a solution yet - very frustrating. Everyone is able to share a UA-cam video through a Zoom meeting on the iPad, but sometimes (doesn't appear to be all the time!) the volume from that video is barely audible, and most folks say that the meeting participants can't hear it either. My only suggestion is to see if you can adjust the volume through the UA-cam app or the SoundCloud app and NOT the iPad volume control. I don't know if that will work, but it's the only thing I can suggest right now until Zoom can fix this.
Hello in my Ipad while scheduling meeting I want to set the time duration as 10:10 to 10:55 but I am only getting the time as to select the minutes as 15 r 30 r 45 r 60 but I am unable to set as 46 minutes r as 47 minutes. Can you help me out in this??
Hello! This is very helpful. When I go on zoom, I want my teacher to still be able to see me when I am in a different app. For example, if I am writing in google docs, my camera shuts off, but I want it to stay off. Is there a way to get around this?
Hi @Ellie O'Leary I'm afraid when you're on an iPad or iPhone and you switch to another app, the camera will temporarily shut off and there is no way around this. It's possible to do this on a computer (Mac or PC) but not on an iOS device.
HI @Sofía when a file is shared in a Zoom meeting it should be avaiable from the chat box, but I will say that I've heard from several folks that when a meeting host shares a file through chat, sometimes the people using an iPad or iPhone are not able to receive it and I'm not sure why.
Hi Jarrett, it might depend on the iPad model that you have - this may only work for the newest model iPads with the upgraded cameras, but even then I don't know if it will work ... at least for the front-facing camera. I believe if you switch to the back camera you can zoom in, but it's not the .5, "wide-angle" view. I know there were some upgrades that Apple made for the front facing camera so that it could use the "Center Stage" feature.
I use Zoom for online on an iPad Air, for some reason the virtual backgrounds doesn’t work for me. It’s not an option in the ‘more’ (the 3 dots at the top). How would i enable it?
I'm afraid the iPad Air may not support virtual backgrounds - Zoom says that the following iPad models are on the only ones that support virtual backgrounds: iPad Pro and the 5th and 6th generation iPad 9.7
Hi @Roger Matthews and glad the video was helpful! To my knowledge I don't believe you can save the chat conversation, but at the ver least you could take screenshots of the chat window and save those screenshots to your photo roll.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Trying to get my mom on a zoom call on her iPad and she is not able to get into zoom because it says safari doesn’t support it. I had her use the Google browser but it still says the same thing so I guess it just defaults to safari? How can we get out of safari?
Hi @Heather McDonnell I would have your Mom download the free Zoom for her iPad instead of going through a web browser - the experience is much better. Here's the link directly to the Zoom app: apps.apple.com/us/app/zoom-cloud-meetings/id546505307
Hi @Heather in my testing, the Zoom iOS app does not support split screen on the iPad, but you can do the "slide over" with an app. You should be able to use the "slide over" and continue watching the Zoom meeting although it will be covered up a little. But using the "slide over" will pause YOUR camera if you're using it on the iPad.
Please help. I’ve been using Zoom on my android, I now have an iPhone and my only question is, I want to see myself in the bigger screen like when you see yourself when you’re talking but when I tap on the small picture of myself in the corner it doesn’t do anything. The only time I could see myself in the speaker setting is when I’m actually speaking. Why can’t I do that because that helps me see myself first before speaking but when I tap and nothing happens I can’t. What am I doing wrong. And I am just a participant On zoom. I appreciate any help thanks
Hi Benita, what you've described sounds like the default action on the iPad, especially if you're in Active Speaker view. But try the instructions on this page for "Spotlighting" a participant's video and see if that helps: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362653-Spotlighting-participants-videos
Amanda Bates I didn’t find a way to play music from my iPad. The information I could find is that the iPad I very limited in what you can do in the meetings. So it’s an on going dilemma.
@@sharondruzbanski4205 Thank you for getting back to me. If you are able to play it through your phone and external speaker then enable original sound on Zoom is helpful, but don't think it is as good as sharing audio directly. Really frustrating this option isn't available on ipad. It seems like they can either see me or see and hear my playlist! I will keep in touch if I find a way to do it. Good luck
Hi Sharon, have you tried screen-sharing on the iPad yet? Follow the instructions on this page: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005890803-iOS-Screen-Sharing and see if you are then able to play music from the Spotify app. It asks you to first add "screen recording" to your Control Center, and then I would suggest closing your Zoom app, and then re-opening it to go through the "first time setup" in Zoom. Make sure you read to the bottom of the article where it talks about "screen sharing audio."
I just have to download Zoom for Barbara Seagram's bridge classes from Canada. I had no idea what I was doing, but thanks to your video I'll be ready for class tomorrow!
Hi @Sandy Bailey once you're in a meeting, tap "More" and then "Meeting Settings." Then you'll see an option there for "Play Join and Leave Sound." That should turn on the notification for people coming and going.
Thank you Susanne! I don't think so - there is no specific "spotlight" tool that I'm aware of. But when you're sharing a document, you can use pinch-to-zoom to focus on a specific area of a document, or in some cases you can use the annotation tools to draw or circle something on the screen.
Hi @Susan Morris probably the best way is to AirPlay the Zoom call from your iPhone/iPad to your TV, but you'll need an Apple TV to do that easily. If you have an Apple TV connected to your television, then you can wirelessly AirPlay the Zoom meeting from your iPhone/iPad to the TV.
Nothing mentioned about landscape vs portrait mode for camera on IPad? I was doing zoom calls for a while without realizing that if your iPad is in “normal” mode, meaning landscape, you will look like your looking to the side the entire time. Best is to use portrait mode based on where the camera is situated on the iPad....all of this kinda pisses me off, because it means I cannot use the iPad keyboard if my setup is in portrait mode....any fix for that?
Hi @NYC Entrepreneur I hear ya and great tip on putting the iPad into portrait mode so the camera is in a better position. Best thing I can offer is to get a bluetooth keyboard and use that with your iPad. I'm assuming you're using the Apple Smartcover keyboard which is only in landscape mode, but you can use the iPad with any bluetooth keyboard and put it in portrait mode. But thanks for that tip!
Sandy Zumba the camera on the iPad is actually on the top left, so you would just physically take the iPad and turn it so that it’s in portrait mode. And immed fixes the prob.
Hi @LuzMaria Delfin, try making sure that you download and installed the Google Drive app on your iPhone/iPad first, and then log into your Google account through that App. Then try and see if the Google Drive option shows up in Zoom under Share Content.
Thank you @Robert Langer! And yes, working on that! Also interviewing practitioners on how they're handling remote depos on the Apps in Law podcast! Thanks for watching!
Hi @Joyce Lewis please send your participant my related video where I discuss exactly how to share audio from the iPad: ua-cam.com/video/VSVYNK632io/v-deo.html And yes, she should be able to play music and speak at the same time following those instructions.
Hi @Luz Yuzawa to get the Dropbox option inside Zoom, make sure you first have the free Dropbox app installed on your iPhone or iPad and sign into Dropbox through that app first. Then you might want to close and re-open your Zoom app and see if the Dropbox option is available.
Hi @Toni Perdomo thank you! That made my day! Feel free to point them to my follow-up video as well: ua-cam.com/video/VSVYNK632io/v-deo.html Thanks again!
HI @Anna Alobaidly unfortunately the new filters are not available on the iPhone or iPad Zoom app - see support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115002595343-Video-enhancements
Hi @TJ Chesnut that's wonderful to hear!! Just made me think that is you took a picture of some music staff paper at just the right size, you could pull that picture in and annotate it to show notes/chords, etc. Also thrilled to hear that Zoom is working for you to teach music. I know my kids are taking some music lessons via Zoom but the teacher can't play with the kids because of a tiny bit of lag. But she does good just explaining things, and then listens to the kids play.
Thank you, very useful ! I have an iPhone7Plus. There are two things you mentioned that I don't see : the "share content" button, and the "annotation options". Is that just me ? Also I would like to know if one could record a meeting on the iPhone7Plus ? Thank you in advance !
Hi @Mikki Steyn, and glad the video was useful! Sorry you can't see the "Share Content" button. First, make sure you iPhone7Plus is running iOS 11 or higher. Second, make sure you have the latest version of the Zoom app installed (check your App updates). And then see if that makes any difference. Also, yes, you should be able to record a meeting on the iPhone7Plus but you cannot record it locally to the device - your only option is record the meeting to the cloud. See support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203066759-Recording-on-iOS-and-Android
Hi Hart, I'm afraid you are absolutely correct - if you switch out of the Zoom app on the iPad while you're in a meeting you won't be able to see your meeting participants.
Hi @Roland Lanka, the answer is yes you can record screen sharing and then send it to UA-cam, but iPhones can only record to the Zoom cloud, and you must be a licensed user in order to prompt the recording. See support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203066759-Recording-on-iOS-and-Android
First you must be a licensed user of Zoom, which I think means you have to pay for it. Then you also have to be the host of the meeting. And lastly, you can only record a Zoom meeting to the Cloud on an iPad - you cannot record it to your local storage on the iPad. More info at support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203066759-Recording-on-iOS-and-Android
Is there a way on the tablet to be able to move other participants around. Because I always have a couple of pages with people on them, however I would just like to see them all on 1 page
Hi @Harry Skinner there is not way to move participants around, but you can "pin" a specific speaker regardless of whether they are speaking. You can read more here: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362743-Pin-Video
Hi the video is very useful. In your video from 8.10 while sharing the documents the video is turning off how can we keep the video still on while we share a document from my ipad ? Please help me....
Hi @Midhun Jayachandran do you mean that while you are in a Zoom meeting the video is turning off? While you are in a Zoom meeting, the iPhone and iPad should stay on as the app should keep the screen on and showing video. Perhaps close the Zoom app and re-open it and see if that helps.
Hi @Lisa Bilis you can follow the instructions on this page: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005890803-iOS-Screen-Sharing. It asks you to first add "screen recording" to your Control Center, and then I would suggest closing your Zoom app, and then re-opening it to go through the "first time setup" in Zoom.
Great video! Does anyone know if you can change your iPhone to landscape mode? It doesn't seem to turn the screen when I turn my phone - Wondering if that's an option!
Hi @Silver Shade Studios yes, you should be able to change your iPhone to landscape mode while you're in a Zoom meeting. If it's not working correctly, just make sure that you don't have your screen's rotation lock turned on in the Control Center - I find that can interfere with the ability to rotate the screen.
Apps in Law Thank you! I researched and googled and looked for all settings and I couldn’t find an answer. It wasn’t working but I DID have lock on out of habit and did not even think about it. So thank you!
Yes it should - once your Participants have joined your meeting, you'll need to tap the "Participants" button to see the list of Participants. You should be able to tap the name of a Participant and get the option to Mute that specific individual.
Hi! A question about Zoom on the iPad vs iPhone: Me not hosting but joining a zoom meeting, is there any possibility to see the host and the other participents at the same time? Not having to swipe to see others? Know what I mean? On my iPhone I can swipe and see like three people (loosing the host in focus). I wish to see us all AND the host if possible. Or is this not possible on an iPad either? Thank you so much for your help!
Hi Maria, the default in a Zoom meeting is the "Active Speaker" view which will ONLY show the current active speaker. But you can switch to "Gallery" view which will show several participants (up to 3 on the iPhone and 16-49 on the iPads depending upon your model) and when you're in Gallery view, the active will be highlighted in green when they're speaking. Make sure you've updated your Zoom app and here's a good support article from Zoom describing this: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362323-Adjusting-screen-view-settings-during-a-virtual-meeting
Hi Foxiny you will need to create a free Zoom account to use any of the features in the Zoom app. You can upgrade your Zoom account to a Pro account if necessary.
Hi Dark Abbas, unfortunately, you cannot keep the camera open when you switch to another app ... unless I hear that folks with the latest iPad Pro that was released in May 2021 might be able to do this. For all other iPads and iPhones, this is not possible due to hardware limitations.
Hye may I know is it possible to show your face when sharing screen on zoom using ipad? And how can i see other participants when i share my screen on ipad
Hi 24s_ unfortunately if you are sharing your iPad's screen, you cannot show your face. When you share your iPad screen, your camera is "paused" and no one can see your face until you go back into the Zoom app. Hope that helps!
Hi @Marck Escalera, and thank you! Glad it was helpful. I'm coming out with a follow-up video very soon that discussed how to share video and audio from a Zoom meeting on an iPhone or iPad. Thanks again!
Thank you @merrill davis - in order to switch from "Speaker View" to "Gallery View" you'll ned to tap the button, but in order to see that button you may need to tap in the middle of the screen. See support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360000005883-Displaying-participants-in-gallery-view
Hi Benny yes you can use an iPhone in landscape mode. In fact, you can switch between portrait and landscape while you're in a meeting, but that could be be distracting for the meeting participants to see you flip back and forth!
enjoyed and very informative....however i do not get the screen share option under shared content...is there another setup? i have done the customization etc i even get the broadcast but ends after the count down... can you help?
Hi @Narendra sorry it does not seem to be working for you. Is this on an iPhone or iPad? In order for the screen share to work, Zoom requires at least iOS version 11 (see support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005890803-iOS-Screen-Sharing) so if you have an older iPad or iPhone that cannot run iOS 11 then it will not work. Another option to share your iPad/iPhone screen is to connect to a Zoom meeting on your desktop PC or Mac, then connect your iPad/iPhone to your computer via wired or wireless, and then share your screen that way. I've done this many times and it works much better than the native "screen share" option on the iOS app.
Great video, thanks! Can you tell me how to bring back a poll on a ipad? When the host launches a poll it pops up on the ipad screen of a participant, but if the participant doesn't start answering the poll within a few seconds, it disappears. Where does it go, and how can I get it back?
Hi @Susan Peach, to my understanding, the poll will stay up until a) you click submit on your response, or b) the host closes the poll. Do you know if either of those are happening? I honestly don't know how to get the question back on the screen if the meeting host has closed the poll question.
@@AppsinLaw thanks for the reply. I did some troubleshooting and found that if the participant taps their screen (off the poll) it slides down, but there is an option in small green text at the top of the screen to bring back the poll. Problem solved!
@@salsawithsusan Excellent! Thank you so much for coming back and letting us know! That's great that you did your own "tech support"! Haha. Thanks again!
Great video! Thank you for sharing. Is there a way to hide and unhide yourself on the iPad? I’ve seen this option on a desktop, but can’t figure how to do it on the iPad.
Thank you @Snow F. do you mean turning off your video? You can just tap the video button at the bottom to turn off the video but you can still hear and talk to the meeting.
I have a meet in 15 mins pls answer srryyy. Question is if I use my iPhone and others use their computer do I have to make my iPhone horizontal so the the screens are the same??
Hi @Rachemel Manalac I hope your meeting went well. You do not have to make your iPhone horizontal, but if you hold it "vertical" or "portrait" mode then the meeting participants will see you in that angle.
Hi Sir, you have a very informative video. What if I want to use my iphone as my camera instead of the front camera of my ipad pro? is that possible? if yes, how?
Hi Randylon and thank you for your comment! Unfortunately I do not believe this is possible. I know some folks have tried connecting an external camera to an iPad, and some have been able to get it to work but it's a lot hackery. But I haven't heard of anyone being able to use an iPhone as the camera for an iPad, sorry!
Sir ur vedio is of great to help to me but just wanted to know I m facing problem while using website url option please make a vedio on that if possible. Thanks a lot for shooting this vedio.
Hello in my zoom meetings someone else is a host and im the co host. When the host screen shares I see the other meeting people as a strip at the bottom of the screen, is there any way to see everyone on gallery view while the host shares their screen?
Wn using the IPad with the magic keyboard the screen is horizontally and the Camara is located at the right side of the screen so you can’t see the eyes of the people you are talking to and, if you want them to see you straight you have to look at the right side of the screen. Unless removing the ipad from the keyboard and flipping it to the vertical position I have not been able to solve this issue. If you have please let me know what to do, thanks
Hi Carlos and thank you for the comment. I'm afraid there is no easy answer to your question other than just leaving it in horizontal position. Many people will flip it to vertical, or I have heard of some folks purchasing a webcam to use with the iPad that they will set up above the horizontal iPad. Hope that helps!
Hi @Lifewithtangie Lwt, I'm actually filming myself with a green screen, and then separately recording my iPhone and iPad screen. Then I use movie-editing software to squash them together :)
Hi AsH I don't believe the option is available for Android devices. On an iOS device, you can go into the Zoom app Settings (before you enter a meeting) and go to "Meetings" and scroll down until you see "Touch Up My Appearance" - see if that is available there for your Android device.
Even though I’ve been using Zoom for 2 years now, I’ve recently encountered a problem I can’t fix. Perhaps you can assist. When I’m Screen Sharing (iPad mini 2) I like to see the other participants (I’m the Host) alongside the shared screen - in other words a split screen. I was doing this all along until I changed some settings, can’t remember which, and now I see a white & blue screen saying I’m screen sharing and not the participants. Please can you assist?
Hi @Eunice Angelie, you cannot use splitscreen on an iPad while a Zoom meeting is happening, but you CAN use "slideover" where you can temporarily pull over another app on top of the Zoom meeting.
In Outlook on my laptop there is a zoom plugin. On my iPad there is a teams options but not a zoom option? Invitees then do not receive meeting requests that goes into their outlook calendars?
Hi @Karel Brendenkamp I think that is a limitation of Outlook on iOS - it makes sense that they would only support Teams. You could look for a Zoom "add-in" in Outlook but I don't think there is one there. The best way that I get around this limitation is to go to the Zoom app and schedule meetings from there.
Hi Thankyou for your tips I am not very technical, I tried to join a meeting which I go to every week but since update it’s saying my browser is not supported, and I don,t know what to do, I am using an iPad. Many thanks. Diane.
Hi @Diane Smith I would recommend downloaded the Zoom app for your iPad instead of trying to join a Zoom meeting through your web browser. Just visit the App Store and search for the Zoom app.
Hi @sbeckas, sometimes when a meeting is being recorded, I know that there will be a message at the bottom of my Zoom that tells me it is being recorded. But even better, you as a participant can enable the "recording disclaimer" that will tell you when someone is recording, and ask you to either give your consent, or leave the meeting. You can see the instructions on this page: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360026909191-Enabling-the-recording-disclaimer
@@AppsinLaw Hi-when I went to your suggested link- it appears that the recording consent is enabled by host and not an option for me (as only the attendee) to set up that request to receive that notification. Le t me also thank you for going to the trouble of helping me.🙏 It is so easy to see the record on the Mac and not on my iPad.
@@sbeckas Yes I thought the specific instructions for "User" on that link would be the answer, but I do see that even if you enable that, the host could still turn it off. But if you click the "Mobile" section at the bottom of that page, you'll see the message that you will receive on your iPad IF the host has enabled the permission requirement.
I am preparing to teach in the Fall and your video is very clear and useful, thank you. One question: how can I get the screen behind me when I teach, just like what you are doing in this video? Having the teacher's profile in front of the screen and the 1-7 tips listed as you go throuhg the presentation would be very helpful for students. Grateful if you could share how to do the same. Thank you again!
Hi @Isabel Guerrero, there are a couple of ways. First, I'm using a green screen to separately record myself and my iPad screen, which is a lot of work to get it recorded. But an easier way that you could do this is to use a green screen with Zoom, and then put your points on a picture/image, and use that image as your "virtual background" in the Zoom meeting. This takes a bit of prep work, but it works!
Thank you! Is it true that iPhone only presents a vertical screen orientation? Is there a way to rotate to horizontal? And it looks like your iPad showed a horizontal (landscape) screen...?
Hi Dan, both the iPhone and iPad can present in either a vertical or horizontal orientation, although if you switch between the two orientations during a meeting it can confuse folks :) If your iPhone or iPad is not rotating, make sure that you do NOT have "screen rotation lock" turned on in your Control Center. Let us know if that works!
Hello, this video helped me a lot, but I have a doubt, can I receive a file through the meeting chat in my iPad?, it doesn’t work for me
Hi Matías, I've heard of the same problem from other folks. I know you can send and receive files in the Chat box in Zoom on the desktop software, but I don't believe it works the same way on the iPad. Is it possible for them to send a link the Chat box that links to a file stored in Box or Dropbox? Not sure if that will work, but please let us know.
Thank you!!! 😉
Is there an Always Mirror Me option for the iPad? It's available in the Zoom I use on a windows 10 pc
Hi @Leanne Mumford I'm afraid there is not a "mirror me" option on the iPad like there is on the desktop Zoom application. It doesn't look like any of the mobile Zoom apps can do this :(
Can you share PowerPoint with zoom using iPad?
I dont know if this is it but if you go to "settings", find "meetings" and scroll down to the "mirror video" and enable it, i dont really know if it is the one but I hope it is!
I’m hi gaxhc
I want to use my iPad for power point presentation. Anyway that I can stay on the screen?
Hi Lena, yes you can show a PowerPoint presentation during a Zoom meeting on your iPad, but when you switch out of the Zoom app to show the PowerPoint presentation, unfortunately your camera will turn off. You meeting audience can still hear you, but they can't see you. This is true for most iPads, although I've heard a rumor that the newest iPad Pros from early 2021 will still keep the camera on, but I haven't been able to confirm this.
Why I don't have "screen" option to chose under my "Share Content" tab? My first option is Photo on my the "Share Content" list.
Hi @Vicky first in order for screen share to work you need to be on at least iOS version 11 so if you have an older iPhone or iPad that doesn't support iOS 11 then it will not work. Next, you may need to give the iOS permission to share your screen or else the option may not be there.
Same. So irritating.
Here's my video on screen sharing in Zoom from an iPad or iPhone: ua-cam.com/video/VSVYNK632io/v-deo.html
I have the same problem. I used to have screen as a choice in share content but now its gone. I have latest ios 14.4 and also updated zoom. How do i get it back?
Great video! Thanks.
I see you can share photos easy but i would like to share short videos on my ipad.
Is this possible?
Your video is so helpful. It is exactly what I was looking for. I must say that your teaching style is so friendly and pleasant. I just subscribed to your channel. Mentors like you is what the world need! Peace to you and your loved ones!
Wow thank you @Edgard Escalante for taking the time to post your comment! Glad it was helpful!
Can you tell me how to add background on iPad Air 2 if the button is not there
Hi Premi, I don't know if the iPad Air supports virtual background images - here are the requirements: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360043484511.
Very helpful! Thank you! How do I add participants to a meeting I'm in, but where I'm not the host? Passcodes?
Hi @William Hall I don't believe you can add participants to a meeting unless you are either the Host of the meeting, or you have been make a Co-Host of the meeting (by the Host).
You can forward them a link though.p and the host would have to allow them to join
You can read more here: support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362323-How-Do-I-Change-The-Video-Layout-
On my iPad and iPhone I cannot see the button on how to record. Is it available for the free, unlicensed version?
Hi Cee Jay, if you have a free account with Zoom you can record meetings locally to your desktop or laptop computer. But the iPad will not allow you to record meetings locally. If you have a paid version of Zoom, you can start a CLOUD recording from the iPad (see support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203741855).
thank you, this was SUPER helpful! i asked my 11-year-old the basic functions of the app and she had quite a giggle at my expense 🥺
now i don’t feel like such a dunce. lol.
Hi @frienjie, thank you for your comment! Haha, glad it helped! I'm coming out soon with a follow-up video so stay tuned!
I really would like to know this too!
@@peacefulpigeon7254 Hey there, I figured it out. If I use the back camera instead of the selfie camera the view switched so any signs that I hold up can be read properly, the lettering goes the right way!
Oh thanks!
Especially when you've packed on a few more years than the the 20 somethings, heck the 50 somethings!
when im in a class and the teacher asked us to answer something online and my safari will open and the camera will be off and my teacher asked me to on it how should i fix it
I’m having the same issue
Same problem
i wanna know how fix this too
I cant find a button where I can write during screen sharing. Im using ipad. Can you help?
Thanks. Thanks
Thank you for sharing these valuable tips.
Thank you Jorge!
Thanks for the video! When using Zoom on the iPad, how do you annotate when viewing another user's shared screen?
Hi @Max Bergmanis thanks for posting the question! The meeting host has to give you premission to annotate on their screen, or sometimes you can request to annotate on the whiteboard.
How can i Play Music in the Background when the Video is on and the Microfon is Muted ? On My Ipad

The sound keeps cutting out on my iPad when I use zoom. There is no speaker icon in the upper left hand corner. Is there supposed to be one there?
Hi Eastern Guy, yes there should be a speaker icon in the upper left corner. If you don't have one I would be concerned that the Zoom app hasn't been given permission to use the speakers or that your speakers are defective. I would also want to know what iPad model that you have to make sure it's fully supported.

If I turn the “ leave and join sound” on, the participants can hear the ring sound? Or only the host could heard it? Thanks for help and information 🙏
Hi @faribadstani dastani usually all of the pariticpants can hear the ring sound whem someone joins or leaves the meeting.

Is there a way to direct participants to breakout rooms on an iPad?
Hi @Alic Fox I'm afraid you can't manage breakout rooms on an iPad - see support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206476313-Managing-Breakout-Rooms under "Limitations." Participants can Join breakout rooms from an iPad, but a host can't Manage breakout rooms from an iPad.

Hi Manjiri, I know that you can use Split Screen on your iPad while you're in a Zoom meeting, but I don't believe you can screen share that window in Split View.
Great tips
Would like to know how to add backgrounds ( on I pad ) during zoom

Hi. Nice video. During a meeting there was a file shared but I didn't receive it....(where do I look for it/how do I fix this?)
HI @Sofía when a file is shared in a Zoom meeting it should be avaiable from the chat box, but I will say that I've heard from several folks that when a meeting host shares a file through chat, sometimes the people using an iPad or iPhone are not able to receive it and I'm not sure why.

Is there a way to record using the .5 video zoom setting on an iPad? I really want to use the wider angle but I cant find a way to do it.

As a participant on my iPad Pro, can I split the screen between zoom and adobe or kindle so as to follow along in a manual or textbook?
Hi @Heather in my testing, the Zoom iOS app does not support split screen on the iPad, but you can do the "slide over" with an app. You should be able to use the "slide over" and continue watching the Zoom meeting although it will be covered up a little. But using the "slide over" will pause YOUR camera if you're using it on the iPad.

Hi @LuzMaria Delfin, try making sure that you download and installed the Google Drive app on your iPhone/iPad first, and then log into your Google account through that App. Then try and see if the Google Drive option shows up in Zoom under Share Content.
Thanks for the video! Hope you're doing well! Keep them coming would love to see something on video deps or mediation via video conference
Thank you @Robert Langer! And yes, working on that! Also interviewing practitioners on how they're handling remote depos on the Apps in Law podcast! Thanks for watching!
My participant needs to use internal audio on an iPad. I there a way she can set to share iPad audio? She is playing music as well as speaking.
Hi @Joyce Lewis please send your participant my related video where I discuss exactly how to share audio from the iPad: ua-cam.com/video/VSVYNK632io/v-deo.html And yes, she should be able to play music and speak at the same time following those instructions.
This is the Best Video Iv'e seen, for my needs on Zoom.
just wished I had seen it fist, as I could of saved myself about 90 mins.
Glad it helped thank you @Andy kay
Excellent video, thank you. Why when I try to share screen, it didn’t appear Dropbox option?
ME TOO!!!! ugh....
Hi @Luz Yuzawa to get the Dropbox option inside Zoom, make sure you first have the free Dropbox app installed on your iPhone or iPad and sign into Dropbox through that app first. Then you might want to close and re-open your Zoom app and see if the Dropbox option is available.
This was fun and helpful to view. Thank you!
Thank you @FrugalOverFifty! Much appreciated!
Can kids use it?
Hi Kristina - sure! Kids can use it!
I work with master teachers that are mentoring brand new first year teachers. This tutorial is very clear, instructional, and very useful! Thank you!
Hi @Toni Perdomo thank you! That made my day! Feel free to point them to my follow-up video as well: ua-cam.com/video/VSVYNK632io/v-deo.html Thanks again!
Can you do one on how to do the filters thing in an iPad please?
HI @Anna Alobaidly unfortunately the new filters are not available on the iPhone or iPad Zoom app - see support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115002595343-Video-enhancements
Apps in Law oh okay thank you
Thank you so much for showing me your great tips. I have learned a lot. Keep up the great knowledge 👍👍😋
Thank you @HJelen Callaway - so happy to know it was helpful!!
Excellent presentation! Very clear. I have a question when I share my screen on an iPhone is this sound automatically activated?
This is exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you @yvonne khan - I'm so glad to know that it was helpful!

Great video 👌🏿
I have been forced to begin teaching instrument lessons via Zoom and learning about the whiteboard feature is a game changer!
That's great! I'll try it.
@@AppsinLaw Thanks so much !
I laughed first then clearly understood
I want zoom to run in the background while using other apps and seeing the meeting people like on the laptop but i dont think ipad lets you do that
Hi Hart, I'm afraid you are absolutely correct - if you switch out of the Zoom app on the iPad while you're in a meeting you won't be able to see your meeting participants.
@@AppsinLaw yeah thats the bad part of using an ipad and thanks so much for replying! 😊😊🌸
Can you record the screen sharing and send it to you tube?
Hi @Roland Lanka, the answer is yes you can record screen sharing and then send it to UA-cam, but iPhones can only record to the Zoom cloud, and you must be a licensed user in order to prompt the recording. See support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203066759-Recording-on-iOS-and-Android
Why don’t I have the record button under the “more” tab

How do I share my screen to show other apps like epic or read works to read with my students?

@@SilverShadeStudios Fantastic! So glad that worked! Thanks for letting us know!
As host, I need the ability to Mute participants individually. Does this version of Zoom allow that?
Do I need to sign in to use those?
Hi Foxiny you will need to create a free Zoom account to use any of the features in the Zoom app. You can upgrade your Zoom account to a Pro account if necessary.
Hi how do I keep my camera open while you are on another app ?
Very helpful. Especially the section on sharing content.
Hi @Marck Escalera, and thank you! Glad it was helpful. I'm coming out with a follow-up video very soon that discussed how to share video and audio from a Zoom meeting on an iPhone or iPad. Thanks again!
thank you for the tips... how do you change the gallery view.
Thank you @merrill davis - in order to switch from "Speaker View" to "Gallery View" you'll ned to tap the button, but in order to see that button you may need to tap in the middle of the screen. See support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360000005883-Displaying-participants-in-gallery-view
Here's my video on switching between "views" in a Zoom meeting on an iPad or iPhone: ua-cam.com/video/VSVYNK632io/v-deo.html
Can we use an iphone in a landscape mode or it must be used in portrait mode?

Thank you so much Sir for the info. I appreciate the reply.
Great video! I needed it earlier today, but now I’m set for the next zoom.
Excellent to hear Natalie! Thank you for the comment!
Hi Liz, I'm afraid on the iPad when someone shares their screen you don't have a lot of options for seeing the participants at that time.
Great tips as I am very new to hosting Zoom meetings. Question: Is that a picture of Clifford Brown playing trumpet in your Photos?
Hi! How are you able to show what your doing on your phone setting it up on a screen?
Hi @Lifewithtangie Lwt, I'm actually filming myself with a green screen, and then separately recording my iPhone and iPad screen. Then I use movie-editing software to squash them together :)
@@AppsinLaw Thank you!
How do you touch up your appareance on android do you have to update your zoom?
Can camera on while split screen on ipad? Cause i need to do task while the camera need to be always on
Hi @Eunice Angelie, you cannot use splitscreen on an iPad while a Zoom meeting is happening, but you CAN use "slideover" where you can temporarily pull over another app on top of the Zoom meeting.
Thankyou!
As a participant -how do I know if the host is recording us on the iPad? I do not see that anywhere on the iPad.
Hi there. Is there a way to PIN someone's video on the iPad zoom?
Hi @RipT Workshops yes this is a feature in the Zoom meeting app - see support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362743-Pin-Video
Here's my video on switching between "views" and pinning a video in a Zoom meeting on an iPad or iPhone: ua-cam.com/video/VSVYNK632io/v-deo.html
@@AppsinLaw Thank you!
@@AppsinLaw Yep!!! Thanks.
