Came to UA-cam to specifically search for a "Zoom on smartphone tutorial," saw this at the top of my subscription feed (I just subscribed to your channel this week), and BOOM.. problem solved! Impeccable timing, and detailed yet succinct info in all your videos thus far. Thx & cheers from Korea 🇰🇷 !
very good work thank you it seems so Simple... Be sweet to your dog Remember he is GOD... DOG on the Flip side of LIfe. also a reflection of YOUrself so be Nice to yourself .. Blessings....
My iPhone 6 refuses to turn to landscape mode for hosting zoom meetings. Any tips?! I have it set up sideways (landscape) on a tripod but everyone sees me sideways rather than landscape! Why won't the camera flip?! Any ideas?
For you phone, specifically an iPhone, how do you change the orientation so you don’t have black bars on the side. You can hold the phone horizontally but it reads as sideways to other meeting participants
Best video yet! You are awesome .... BUT.... I am desperately needing help. I do zoom calls for a weekly meeting. There are about 17 in home attendees and about 7 at home attendees (7 people watching the meeting) if I use my phone - the best picture quality - the sound is "ok" when a few of us men talk but everyone else sounds underwater. I've purchased an Omnidirectional microphone HOWEVER Zoom defaults to my cameras microphone. How do I change this?!!!! No one no where covers this!!! I have a Samsung Galaxy note 20 ultra. It's a good phone great microphone except on zoom. I'm in a large room and need to pick up everyone's voice
I suggest another video showing how to just PARTICIPATE in a Zoom meeting from mobile devices - which I found a lot more people doing then initiating a Zoom meeting
Steve, I have an iPad Air 2 running ios 13.3.1 and an iPhone 7 running ios 13.4.1; I have zoom on both but neither device allows me to change the virtual backdrop. Is it that the technology of the devices does not allow it?
I sure wish Apple would provide connectivity for external cameras. The angle of the iPad Pro camera is just too goofy to use on a Zoom call. I suppose I could call into a Zoom meeting twice. Once for the iPad keyboard and monitor and a second time for a mounted iPhone camera. But then you have to deal with everyone on the call telling you that your on the call twice while wasting 15 minutes.
We do Club meetings that include a lot of time with a Co-Host screen sharing to present instructional videos. We have an Attendee using her iPhone, complaining that the Speaker thumbnail blocks part of the video. She says that she can move the thumbnail around her screen, but not off of the video. She does not want to close the speaker thumbnail because she wants to see him/her talking. Is there a solution, other than her getting a bigger device, which she doesn't want to do?
If you feel that in these meetings, it's best for attendees to use their laptops, perhaps you have to make that clear beforehand. It always helps to have a few guidelines in advance before the meeting starts. Attendees can't have it always their way or you'll lose your mind.
Tip: feed Riley first next time. Seriously, that was very good since a lot of folks want to (or have to) use Zoom on a mobile device. Good work and thank you.
I am a new using to ZOOM and after two uses .... i am finding that I have an automatic password placed onto any access to my meetings.... i can not seem to get this zoom initiated password off of my program/computer. i read access can not be removed until September... what is the deal with that?
What I need to be able to do is move my camera (C920) so that it appears I am looking straight ahead. Right now it looks like I am looking down, which I am since all of the video is on my chromebook screen. Thanks
It looks like you are looking down because you are looking down. The camera lens is above your screen so when you are looking at your screen you are looking at something below the camera. One thing I do to avoid seeing other people looking down is to position my image so the my head appears high on the screen. I also look toward the camera when I am viewing and can see the image of others well enough in to bottom of my visual field.

This is great! I am teaching zoom to Senior Instructors at a community college and your videos are clear and concise in indicating where the meeting controls are located on each device. Just learning myself it was hard to instruct others when I did not know how to direct them to find their icons on their respective devices. Not many videos are as easy to follow as yours. THANK YOU! I am experiencing the same problem, an inability to record zoom meetings with either my samsung tablet or motorola smart phone. I used to be able to record on a previous smart phone. Is this no longer possible?
I am participating in a zoom exercise program and I am using my ipad. I can see the instructor and some of the participates and I can hear everyone. They cannot hear or see me what am I doing wrong

Hi sir, You are amazing. Can you please make a video on using Zoom on a phone/tablet as a simultaneous interpreter? Is it possible for me as a SI to do my Zoom interpretation from a tablet or phone? and on the other hand, it the option of adding an interpreter available to the meeting host on phones/tablets? Thank you again, and again you are amazing.
Great video and very helpful. My wife's siblings have started doing a weekly virtual family get together on Zoom. I'll be sharing this with some of them who are still learning their way around Zoom. Very easy to understand. Keep up the great work! Love your videos.
You always provide useful information. I am having issues with my iPhone (since an update). Any chance you could deal with iPhones. (A quick example is texting. It offers options/effects I never want. I just want to send). Have fun storming the castle
Great video. You probably get asked this a lot, but do you have a video on how you can share music using an iPad or iPhone via Zoom? Can that even happen? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks Steve, another great video. Like others on here, I have some reservations about the security as even the Zoom website says your "conversations" can be gatecrashed by other uninvited guests in certain circumstances and in fact give some advice on how to make connections more secure. I've used Zoom many times now and not experienced it myself but it seems generally accepted that there can be a level of risk involved, any chance you could expand on what this risk is and what to do to minimize it please?
ok another question, how do I best keep track of all the amazing ZOOM meetings I wish to attend...currently they are in the old school...written down...is there a way to save in zoom list.
Hi thanks for this video. I have iPad version 10.3.4 I’m not sure if the version (old version) causing the problem that people can’t hear me. Can you help?
Hi Steve (Master Dottotech Man) I have used Zoom for the last three weeks for my writers' group because the technology center where we met closed for COVID-19. As of 7 April, there came a cry for more Zoom security needed due to perverse happenings in certain meetings where some entity started drawing pornographic pictures on the screen presentation white board during a university doctorate presentation. I have recently taken a short Zoom presentation and Zoom indicates that simply using a password rather than allowing free entry without a password will correct that problem of odd entities usurping a meeting or conference. Great! However, I so appreciated that I didn't have to require my group to have a password. I am disappointed that some jerk attackers like to play their internet terrorism. My group really appreciated just clicking into the link I gave them and abracadabra there they were with me. I would like your thoughts on this security breach if you've heard of the problem. I WOULD LIKE YOUR COMMENTS ON THIS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. I am going back to Zoom to get their 60 minute deep dive training. But I certainly appreciate your in-depth tech skills that got me started and will keep me updated. So appreciate you. Thanks.
I enjoy your videos. I’ve learned a lot. You’re the only "Dotto" I’ve ever met (even though we haven’t actually met) and I’m curious where the name originates. If you prefer not to answer, I understand. Love the Zoom tutorials.
Hi Steve, I have seen you on Fitness with PJ workout videos! A quick question regarding Kindle Fire 10 and zoom. I cannot find where on the device the option for Gallery view is. Any thoughts? Thanks so much for the help.
You're awesome...do you think there is a way that I can do my audio (music and mic) through my ipad and then use my phone for the camera? Or have you figured out how to stream music and mic using the ipad? I'm a fitness instructor :) and the reason why is my ipad has a better camera-better wifi- and I can teach outside...THANKYOU!!!
Hey Steve, with the Zoom Boom it is difficult to convince people to use Skype, which apparently is much safer? Then there is the question of why i would need to upgrade my Zoom account? We are wanting to use Zoom(or alternative) to host activity classes for kids although now wanting to go over 40min and always using a mobile device. What would be your suggestion?
I appreciate all of your Zoom videos. I purchased a new Lenovo IdeaPad Flex and this red, half-moonlike figure is blocking my face on the video. Do you know how to get rid of that? Thanks!
I'd love to be able to screen share Spotify on my ipad for access to music tracks to go with my exercise class zooms. Web URL just brings up a generic Spotify page and not my account. There's not the same audio buttons as on a PC to prepare to share music. Can't find anywhere how to do it.
Tell us how to use an external mic with zoom on an iPad. I’m trying to use a condenser vocal mic thru an interface. It works with the iPad, like in GarageBand, but not in zoom.
Thank you for another very helpful video. I've been experimenting with using my mobile phone, and find the video freezes up badly. I think it's happening because our home wifi is always somewhat slow, and local bandwidth is increasingly stressed. Don't want to switch to "data" as we have a small plan. So closing video is a necessity. I find the screen "real estate" is also an issue when the class is large. I like being able to see class slides, participants, and chat all on one screen. For such classes, using a desktop with large monitor is much more useful for me. I'll definitely try the mobile option for one on one or small group meetings.
A good overview of using iOS devices for Zoom. I have one problem with the iPad that I hope you can solve as I can't find any information directly on the Zoom help site. When I start a meeting, then try to invite participants, the menu for Contacts appears as a choice, but Email does not appear. It works fine on my PC, but not on the iPad. How can I enable the Email option to allow access to my Gmail contact list?
Hi. Thanks for the help and advice. As an android user I'm finding that on both phone and tablet I can only view 4 participants per page, and have to keep swiping to view everyone. Do you have any idea if I can remedy that situation?
I have a question on using the whiteboard on an iPad 10.2” with the Logitech pencil rather than the Apple Pencil 1. In using that to tutor one student or to teach a class, would I need to use a laptop or other device to be able to show a video of myself and then use the iPad for the whiteboard or can everything be done just using the iPad? For example in your video when you were showing the whiteboard you still had a small window view of yourself. Thank you.
Hi..I use the iphone for all my zoom meetings since my computer does not have a built-in camera or microphone. When iphone is horizontal, the top menu part covers part of the image. I find most difficult to use the screen sharing because then I don't see the participants' hands if they are asking a question..I will try connecting through the phone and the computer desktop to at least speak into the phone and perhaps have access to writing options on the pc as you showed in the video..hope it works :) Thank you for your video!
Hi Steve, I enjoy your Zoom videos. How were you able to share both your comp screen and your mobile phone screen at the same time. I have android and sharing my phone screen takes up the whole comp screen. Thanks
Informative video but not much on android. I am only wanting to participate in a zoom meeting on my android, but do not want to download the zoom app. How do I just view the meeting on my android through Web browser?
Steve thank you for the video on using zoom with the Ipad. However, you did not go far enough for us novice users..... regarding the ipad pro... how do you get additional items onto the desk top for screen sharing ie.. word, powerpoint.
Your videos are great but i would like you to share how you hook up your mic through your mixer into zoom--cables and inputs and outputs and where each goes
Are additional meeting controls for co hosts only available on Mac and PC platform? When others add me as a co host I don't have those features showing on my ipad and android apps.
Thank you Marley for making an appearance, you're not nearly as wild and crazy as the one in Marley and Me. Good dog. Steve- I hope you fed him finally. Thanks for feeding us!
A friend of mine has zoom on his computer and phone. When I invite him to a zoom call his phone will ring, but he cannot join the meeting through his computer. Is there a way to change this?
Please please please tell us (2 more asked the same question) how to turn landscape mode on iPhone. When I turn my phone in land scape other participants see me sideway however you did It and and you did not look sideways in this video. Thank you
Hi. Is it normal that under pick up under screen time it says I pick it up sometimes when I know it not the first app I pick up? It also to note that it during the time of my zoom call.
Hi Steve I have tried doing this very thing of logging into a meeting on several devices I do craft videos and want to use 1 camera for talking on me then switch to another camera which is above me directed down onto my desk to show the crafting then switch back to me again I am having problems with the sound that it makes that interference noise when the devices are too close together I have tried with all devices muted and only unmute the device that I want the video to show Not sure if that is all confusing It worked the way I wanted with a webcam and changing the video options but the webcam video was poor quality
That is a pretty sophisticated use case Donna, You may be able to get better results using a Switching App as a virtual camera for Zoom. You can use something like Ecamm Live (ua-cam.com/video/4TmCEe9Q-lg/v-deo.html) and have multiple cameras you switch between and have that feed act as your zoom camera. It seems complicated, but it works.
lol..love, love, love this information for my ipad, thank you very much. Oh love your dog.💕

Thanks Steve. Does anyone know how to pin one speaker to large background (not as a host) on an iPad? 🙏
Thanks for this video. It makes me want to start learning how to use my ipad! 🤣

Probably shouldn't use Zoom. Security issues make it a non starter.

Hi Steve! There appears not to be an option for virtual background under the MORE button on my cell phone. (Galaxy S-10) Any thoughts?
Oh well, I've been advised that this is not an Android feature. Bummer. What're Zoom developers thinking?
that's 2 strikes! Looks like you will have to live with the real world as a backdrop!
It looks like Android 10 on the s10e does not allow virtual backgrounds. 😭

Thanks so much Cathy, actually it’s Farley, and he is one heck of a sidekick, but don’t tell him he’ll want a raise.

Thanks, i will check the link. I find the audio share butto on the phoneZoom. But the sound is horrible. Maybe i can fix that with audiosettings.

Yes they are if the host to gives them permission
ok another question, how do I best keep track of all the amazing ZOOM meetings I wish to attend...currently they are in the old school...written down...is there a way to save in zoom list.

Hi Steve, I enjoy your Zoom videos. How were you able to share both your comp screen and your mobile phone screen at the same time. I have android and sharing my phone screen takes up the whole comp screen.

Good dog.

Using an iPad Pro, what is the way to mute your own screen in a zoom meeting? I missed your discussion of that.
