Hi Awall! Fantastic video. Thanks. But regarding the 'Turn on original sound': It doesn't work as desired depending on few factors like type of mic (phone, laptop, webcam, standalone) used; noise in the background; and what you want the mic to catch. For people who don't have a silent room, turning on the original audio sends all the sound data in the room including sounds like fan noise, pets sounds, other people talking nearby, any construction nearby, and all this is pretty much amplified. So for such room conditions turning original sound OFF will send better and filtered human voice audio. However, if you are playing any sounds like playing guitar, piano, etc which the mic has to pick up acoustically, then it's sometimes better to turn ON original sound to let the mic pick up all the sounds of the room that'll include the instrument's sound also. Summary: in noisy environment turn OFF original sound, to send better human audio. In sound proof room, or to send other audio like that of an acoustic instrument or other player, turn original sound ON. I've been teaching music for years to students worldwide, and based on the requirement of the class, I ask my students to switch it on or off as required for that moment. It works well.
I've used Zoom for a couple years now and have never had a problem with 'original sound' mainly because I am the one hosting a Zoom call. Guests can't seem to be able to use that feature.

Thanks for making this content. There is a lot of misleading info here though.. -The rule of thumb to remember is bandwidth and how a far-end user is viewing or hearing your content. -The original audio option is great for musical performance but adding the extra data to a single microphone is often unnoticed. Getting a decent headset or lapel mic it all that is needed for a zoom meeting -The shared content from second camera will give you a higher resolution but it will also force everyone to look at your face full screen given you have the ability to share content in the meeting. Also remember the resolution being sent depends on how the far-end user is viewing you. If they are in Gallary mode zoom is going to compress the video and dido if their bandwidth is low. -Setting your bit rate higher is another option that will most likely go unnoticed. Again zoom will just compress the audio depending on bandwidth and processing on the far-ed user. -Gear does matter a little but not alot. I have the Logitech brio and sure it looks cool but the max resolution for zoom is 720p (and I believe is the highest of the UC platforms correct me if I am wrong). Getting a 1080p camera will be enough even though zoom will just compress it, technology is always growing so who knows when 1080 will be the standard for video conferencing. I would also consider getting a better microphone if you are using something with very poor quality. I consider the iPhone headphones microphone as a base quality that is good enough and is close to you mouth to block enough sound for noise reduction to work well. Obviously getting a nice microphone with an interface is nice but remember the bitrate is only as good as the internet its traveling over.
I just wanted to say thank you, Awall, ... I've watched this video about 4 times over the past couple of months to let it sink in and finally today, I got all of my settings done. You are a good teacher and fun to listen to as well. I'm hoping your cold is non-existent by now ... over a year later, but I do appreciate you suffering through this tutorial like a trouper. Bless your heart. Have a lovely day!
Thanks. It started off a little like a TV Infomercial, but you had legitimate "tricks" that are not obvious to users even if they are familiar with Zoom configuration. Well done.
I love how you use those graphic arrows to point to the program functions! It's brilliant for focusing the audience eyes on the location of what you're talking about. Briliant tutorial technique!
WOW what a difference! My ZOOM team mates have noticed the difference in audio and video! Great Job! This is the best Pod Cast tutorial link in You Tube! Thank You, Thank You!
WOW! I am a virtual teacher and I am blown away by these tips! I wish I had known about this 2 years ago! Thank you! So clear and understandable. Love it!
Great video! An important note regarding sharing the "document camera" feature. When you use share, you force ZOOM to send 1080 resolution but at variable frame rates depending on each recipient's bandwidth signal back to ZOOM . From our university testing, video as viewed on the presenter screen is full motion. However, the participants will receive 1080 at variable frame rate. Better image quality @ 1080 but not full 30 frames. The participants very likely will experience this "screen share" with a jittery image (not full motion) much like the old Max Headroom effect.
Yes, I checked this out and came to same conclusion after logging in zoom via the cell phone app. To get the full 1080 non jittery experience would be then to confirm with participant beforehand on their bandwidth? Thanks!
Helpful information! hmm...wondering if it is worth trying out. Does it depend on the number of users/students attending your class? I teach older adults who often have connectivity issues and older hardware.
Great job! Thank you for your clarity and humor. What is your take on the new tiny cameras that you suspend over the middle of your screen allowing you to make eye contact with the people you are communicating with? This also allows you to use your monitor as a teleprompter.
Thank you, Awall! I've been zooming as participant and will be hosting a zoom uke concert in 2 weeks. I will be watching this again. Knew about audio quality but not full HD streaming. Will be experimenting with my PC and iPad (hosting from iPad). This is the third Zoom video I've watched, and it's the most helpful!
Thank you for your excellent video - I am a private music teacher and have been doing zoom lessons for the past 6 1/2 years for special issues - then covid came along and everything was taught over zoom so I was glad I was already using it. I don't have the most expensive equipment but I do well. I have already been using Original Sound but I did not know about the secret video setting. Thank you.
This is probably the first videos (at very least one of the very few) that share "secrets" or "things you didn't know", that I actually didn't know. Thanks for the dive into these features, especially the Windows sound control.
YOU are a freaking genius, Awall! I cannot thank you enough for providing this tutorial. Your presentation was clear, concise and very understandable for someone just starting out.
Good tips. However, the "Share Screen" seems like it would only work if you were the presenter and wanted to to show only your cam. Also, it seems to me that if you use this tip, you become the quasi "spotlighted" video so other participants would only see you--not the other participants in focused and/or gallery view. Are these assumptions correct?
GREAT video - thanks so much! Curious though, you mentioned enhancing audio settings on a PC - but what about those of us on Macs. Are there specific audio settings we should look at possibly modifying? Thanks
yeah, ok: 1. "Original Audio" is great...for a studio quality microphone and recording space with no background noises. Most people on zoom have laptops and their bedrooms or even living rooms. This function is really only useful for music creators. But click it "on" if you want everyone to listen to your laptop fan. 2. "Second Camera Video" trick is cool, but 90% of the time I need the "Share Screen" feature to actually, you know, share my screen 3. Higher quality recording (the setting in Windows) will do exactly squat for you (again, unless in a studio). 4. Unchecking "Exclusive" allows more than one piece of software to "use" your microphone at once (sometimes useful, sometimes to be avoided), has little to do with Zoom "controlling" your hardware
Good Video here, just something to point out, while the stream to 2nd camera option is a good idea for a single presenter as you can use OBS to focus on the content to the local system, it's not an ideal situation if you have multiple presenters on the call. Within the zoom online settings (through the zoom portal) there is an option to enable 1080P or 720P, also making changes to windows audio settings, not really a secret zoom menu, more like system default settings.
Hi, where is this 1080 setting in zoom account setyings please? I could only find a setting where everyone's video is changed to HD. This creates a problem if my invitees have low bandwidth. I just want change myself to HD but leave everyone else in standard compressed zoom. Thanks for your reply..
Hi Awall, thank you for the informative video. Can you go over how to stop the shared screen option from hijacking the spotlight from other participants, and how to go directly to a specific camera instead of toggling through many inactive cameras while live with other participants?
I believe you do this through the Spotlight feature as the host when you are starting the Zoom session. The host should set their screen as Spotlight, that way when a participant chimes in, the focus is still on the spotlighted screen, i.e. the host's screen.
Thanks so much. We are trying to run zoom for church. None of us know what we are doing and I am about the youngest at 70. We need all the help we can get. WE have had major sound issues. Praying this helps! ...and that I did it right.

I have using Zoom for 2 years w/o these features! Wow. Totally upped my audio and video quality. I am not a gamer so was hesitant to subscribe to Awall - but just this video alone has convinced me to follow this channel. Great practical tips and hidden secrets!!! Thank you so much.
All of your audio tricks are great and I have used most of them but the second camera feature I have only used when sending a switcher into the system because I'm the person driving all of the content being shown in the meeting/webinar, but, giving this out as a tip just to increase your camera quality is not conducive to panels, QnA or gallery view meeting sessions due to the screen share aspect. You are now hogging the screen share and if anyone else needs to share PowerPoint or a video, it will kick out of your screen share. Also, you will be the only one being shown. I have done very few meetings/webinars where this would be very advantageous. I think your tips for audio are great and really do up the quality beyond belief, the video aspect, to me is only useful in a podcast or single presenter meeting, I would modify your title a bit so that someone that attendance a weekly company meeting as an attendee or a small business get together doesn't use that in the wrong environment. Your video is still great I just was pointing this out for people to understand when the video aspect would be properly used.
Hey David I think you're right about the video and screen share. As an online instructor I'm bouncing from presentation to software demo, pdf slides and need to record the whole thing to be watched by students that couldn't be there. I'd need a second brain...(sort of) to manage the video sources and follow teaching. I may have missed the obvious here and if I did someone please advise. Audio thing I have mostly set anyway but missed a couple of details...thanks for that and will set it all right.
Thank you so much Awal... you just solved the problem I have been facing for quite a while now. You saved me on my assessment presentation via zoom tomorrow. Followed all of it. Appreciate your help. Never knew about this secret features
This is one of the best video teaching tools I have ever participated in regards to all this technical stuff. This novice feels a bit smarter now! Thanks.
@@hoyjerkoy592 definitely because it's done using a share screen option. I guess that's why it comes as a second Camera option.. not exactly because Zoom is hiding it from you. However the content shared was of absolutely amazing value!
THANK YOU! I've been having issues when I shared audio through Zoom for oh so long! But now it's fixed! after following all the settings that are suggested in this video. Oh this makes me so happy :)
My question is, does zoom see your 1080p shared screen as 1080p when it comes to Zoom recording? They have a internal system setting that downgrades video recording quality if just one person on the call is NOT 1080p. I record 1080 with OBS, but like having the zoom files as backups.
Excellent content! Well done! As a professional voice talent I recognise amazing voice production and yours was beautifully done. Nice work and thanks for the amazing ZOOM tips. I will implement them immediately.
Thanks, love the 2nd camera tip :) When I tried turning on 'original sound' the person listening could hear a buzz noise that Zoom had been cancelling so the sound was actually worse. Maybe if I had all the other gear you suggest it would be different. I know the Brio has a battery & I see presenters cutting out when that runs out & sometimes it gets hot & need to pause & cool down. But going to check out the Avia Meda PW 513, thanks. :)
Awall, thank you, thank you from a new ZOOM client. We are in our 70's here and your videos are so helpful, so that someone tech challenged was able to noodle this out with your considerable assistance. Thank you!
Great content. I was captivated through the whole video. I love your presentation style, your graphics, your ease in delivery and, of course, your knowledge. And I learned some valuable stuff about Zoom that I will use now! Thanks.
All of your videos have been so helpful to me! Your teaching style is very detailed and easy to follow. I was using OBS with zoom about a month ago during an interview and actually had the person interviewing me ask what program I was using to do that..lol..made me feel smart for a minute. Side note you look nice with your face shaved Sir..it's a good look for you 😁
Hi! Thank you for this video! It's very helpful! Does the 2nd camera screen share feature stay on when you change to another screen to share content - photos, a Canva presentation etc?
Thanks for the tips! I have no idea how you discovered them, but they are so helpful to know. And you presented complicated maneuvers in a clear, easy to follow style. Since so many people have been using Zoom since the pandemic, these methods to improve audio and video quality are relevant to a lot of people.
Thank you so much Awall. OMG this was awesome information. You just helped me with something very important for a project I am doing online. Love your delivery. Subscribed, liked, favourited, shared, appreciated!
The audio tips in this video are solid, but if you use second camera sharing, you cannot share any software like PowerPoint etc. Also, with the default Zoom settings, only one person in a meeting can share his/her screen, so I'd say only try this when you are the host of a meeting and not looking for much interaction/discussion with the participants. You could enable multiple shares, but that might be confusing for the regular Zoom user.
If you're a host, there is a setting that allows more than 1 participants to share their screen simultaneously. It's in a little arrow on the "share screen" green button, then choose advanced setting there and you'll see it
THANK YOU!!! You're the best bro. No one can top your Quality advice for Zoom and obs here. Audio sounds EXACTLY like it does on OBS. You're a chad. Second camera content is perfect for presenting stuff over zoom since it fullscreen's my camera (in my case, NDI OBS) which allows people to view my presentation perfectly .

Thank you for the amazing "next level" zoom walk through. Wow! What a breakthrough video! I am confused about using the Share Screen, Advanced, Content from Second Camera. How could I then share a Powerpoint Slide if I am already in Screen Share? How could others Screen Share?
Awall, I just found this/your podcast on how to improve my Zoom calls. All I can say is "WOW!" Thank you so much. I work on a Mac, but was able to transfer much of what you offered in Window to my Mac controls.
Thanks for posting this how to do video. May I check though that for the ultimate video quality, and to use the share screen function, it is best for webcast right? There is little more we can do for the usual 'turn video' on button if we are not allowed to share screen? A
Thank you so much for these great tips. Can you use the share second camera option if we are also using the Black Magic Box with a pro canon camera? We record our classes with a canon camera and also use zoom to stream and record. And we also share our screen for power points. This seems complicated. But if we had our presenters use their mobile device as a way to share their screen as a cohost, then could we still use the share second camera option to up the video quality?

Best Pieces of Advice I've Ever Received abot Zoom. For better sound, You can also set up on the Audio Menu / Advanced / Signal procesing by Windows to ''OFF (WINDOWS - RAW)''. Thank You so much as I just finished teaching Belly Dance and the music was awesome - all my students had a good time as the drum beat especially was very precise 💜💃🙏🙏🙏😊😊
When I change the Video Quality Setting to share and choose the correct setting, I then lose the ability to access Powerpoint, and other share screen attributes. Is there a way around this?

No wait there's more) you have a fantastic speaking voice, deep very clear, and the presentation is fantastic. I did all you recommended, I think I have gotten it right guess I will find out on my first live concert for the old folks in the Nursing home. Thanks for your help Regards John Lee from Kilmore Victoria Australia.
I use a Mac and this does not allow any sound settings to be adjusted as you did in windows ; any suggestions on how to tweak this ? Also on my zoom yoga sessions , i use Spotify in the share screen settings in the advanced tab to mix my microphone and Spotify audio , so it seems that it will be impossible to use the 2nd camera settings to achieve 1080p video quality ; any thoughts as to how to overcome this ? Many thanks for everything else and I am very grateful to you for the info that you provide ; gratitude from a Yogi 🧘♀️ Peace ☮️

Thanks.
tried it.. the 1080p stream will be gone if you have to share a power point presentation or sc reen
@@hoyjerkoy592 definitely because it's done using a share screen option. I guess that's why it comes as a second Camera option.. not exactly because Zoom is hiding it from you.
However the content shared was of absolutely amazing value!
Totally Love the way he has explained and presented everything in such a wonderful manner
@@arqi-ology2744 yes it is..i already fixed this by using obs hahaha...i can do screen share with my camera and presentation by switching scenes
14:47 there is no advanced drop down bar. And there is no blue bar appearing in zoom in the top left corner that needs to be activated? Any ideas?
Thanks.
Wow, thank you!
I just tested it, seems like it doesn't stay on, that's the down side
Thanks for the tips! I have no idea how you discovered them, but they are so helpful to know. And you presented complicated maneuvers in a clear, easy to follow style. Since so many people have been using Zoom since the pandemic, these methods to improve audio and video quality are relevant to a lot of people.
This was soooo exciting ....can't wait for my next Zoom call. But what about MS Teams, any tips for upping the quality there?
Great

Thank you so much Awall. OMG this was awesome information. You just helped me with something very important for a project I am doing online. Love your delivery. Subscribed, liked, favourited, shared, appreciated!
YOU my friend, are a genius 👍🏽
No, really.
Thanks for all those tips and for explaining them ever so clearly and eloquently with humor 😂
your video is so helpful and is a very smooth video to watch actually! Thanks for making it fun and simple!
Amazing tips, thank you so much . If you’re just a guest on someone else’s zoom meeting could u still access the share 2nd camera mode for HD output?
you should be able to yes but you'll need to make sure they have given share screen access to everyone in the meeting.
This video was perfect: to the point information, & humor. Thanks for your great content Andrew!
Incredible video, and best zoom training to date. Thank you so much!
It sounds complicated to me okay
If I use content from second camera, does that prevent others from sharing their screens?
If you're a host, there is a setting that allows more than 1 participants to share their screen simultaneously. It's in a little arrow on the "share screen" green button, then choose advanced setting there and you'll see it
Yes which is why no one does it. It's a dumb feature that 's only useful if you're doing say Webinar and you're hosting the webinar
Can attendees also use this 2nd camera share screen while joining someone else’s zoom call?
If only this guy could match the quality of the information he's providing us with with a personality that's less abrasive. Really, dude, take it down a notch. We know you're cool.
I attended a Zoom meeting today & wanted to 'apply content from 2nd camera' (1080p) but it wasn't possible since the host had locked 'share mode'. 😒
share mode is locked by default on startup, next time try ask them to enable it before the meeting, very simple to do.
Just happened to click on your video without looking for you but the amount of information and very well explained with no annoying music got me hooked. New subscriber here. Thank you! 🙂
If I am sharing my camera to increase my video, can I still share my desktop?
Great question 🤔
Thank you so much. I use Zoom for meeting all week every week and trainings. This will really help. I wish I had found this video months ago.
I don’t know where these audio secret settings are on a Mac. But I love this video anyway and have subscribed to your channel
Even without changing equipment, these tips have improved my Zoom!

Really awesome presentation. Love it
Thank you for the amazing "next level" zoom walk through. Consise and to the point, with clear instructions, I had to repeat it a few times because my Zoom UI didn't look the same and it took me a minute to figure out. I'm using it for school and zoom but hope to apply it professionally and maybe creatively going forward as an amature. Liked & Sub'ed, looking forward to learning more from your content! Thanks!
Awesome job you are doing for us, "awesome human being" well done not every day we come across caring and loving people like you and with great knowledge as well. I really needed this. Well done.
Just the quality of the audio is enough to convince someone to subscribe to the channel, apart from the Zoom tips and tricks, well done! 🙌
man this guy did two+ sponsors for his video, affiliate marketing in the amazon links, promoted his seminars and making money of youtube ad revenue all in one video!!
Awesome info! However, I think you could have added suggestions on decent lighting and gear to go with that topic. Thank you!
Wow! What a breakthrough video!
I am confused about using the Share Screen, Advanced, Content from Second Camera. How could I then share a Powerpoint Slide if I am already in Screen Share? How could others Screen Share?
thanks for your question and surely in the future we will create a video about this.
yes, exactyly my confusing also, because share screen video it means everyone in the meeting your face (??)

Awall, I just found this/your podcast on how to improve my Zoom calls. All I can say is "WOW!" Thank you so much. I work on a Mac, but was able to transfer much of what you offered in Window to my Mac controls.
This is great information!!! How do we get to these settings on a Mac (the Windows part)? Thank you!!
I am wondering the same thing...I can't find some of these features on my mac.
Thanks for posting this how to do video. May I check though that for the ultimate video quality, and to use the share screen function, it is best for webcast right? There is little more we can do for the usual 'turn video' on button if we are not allowed to share screen?

This is the best how to make Zoom calls better video I've seen. The others are just about the basics which most people should have known.
I never leave comments... but by far the best video on zoom i have seen... Thank you so much for keeping it simple, and to the point!
Thank you for those wonderful tips.
Question: Does the HD video affect my PowerPoint screenshare?
i also posed the same question

Brilliant and so professionally done. Thank you 👍🏻🇬🇧
So, I am giving more and more Zoom meetings and been searching for tips and tricks. You sir are miles above the rest... Good Work!
So you dont losing sound when you some steps away from the microphone on the computer. Thats how i solve my problem, beside ''Turn original sound on''
I love your teaching and introducing, that is great!
You are the MAN!! You make it so simple for newbies to follow your instruction. I truly enjoyed learning from you and want to follow your page.
Thank you! I’ve got a new Mac with an amazing camera and sound and yet, i was having problems. This explains everything. uh…..Thank you! Lol
Love your teaching style Awall! You're a natural. I love it that you get straight to the point! One thing that I would want to stick with is "touch up my appearance " because I'm a senior. LOL! Everything else you said was supper helpful. Thank you so much!
Same here.
great advice. thank you. Any improvements I can do to my recording with Zoom on Mac?
If you're recording on a MAC in Zoom just make sure you have bright light on your face, quiet space, and you're framing yourself in the lens.
Thank you for the plaster for my cut!!! Seriously, I see improvements straight away. Really grateful!
Question. i tried using the cam by activating my "content from 2nd camera"". however, i noticed that i cannot simultaneously do a ppt presentation while the former is in use. any advice?
I suggest you use OBS, it's a free and open source video recording and streaming software

Thank You so much as I just finished teaching Belly Dance and the music was awesome - all my students had a good time as the drum beat especially was very precise 💜💃🙏🙏🙏😊😊
Can you share link to your classes please :)
Wow! Thank you. Excellent video. I appreciate you walking us through the steps on how to activate these features.
When I change the Video Quality Setting to share and choose the correct setting, I then lose the ability to access Powerpoint, and other share screen attributes. Is there a way around this?
Route everything into software called "OBS", then send your output from OBS into Zoom's 2nd camera feature
Watching for 3 minutes and he’s already delivered the gold. Shout out to you, my friend!

Thanks for your help Regards John Lee from Kilmore Victoria Australia.
The only problem with the content from 2nd camera feature is that I'm not always allowed to share my screen in school
