    My father was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He was told he was going to die and that traditional Western treatments, such as chemo, surgery, ect, would do very little to change that. Yet the doctors still pushed him to receive such treatments.
    Instead, he Went down to Mexico to the gersen clinic and did the gersen therapy. Adopted a plant based/raw food diet, and 5 years later he was 100% cancer free.
    Western medicine is good at sewing lacerations, plugging bullet holes, and dealing with traumatic injuries. They are not good at dealing with cancer or chronic diseases.

    -Ginger and lemon and/or lime will make just about any green juice taste good (or at least palatable). Besides, the more you juice, the more you get used to the bitter stuff.
    -And adding a half an apple, enough to sweeten any recipe, per liter of green juice equates to approx. 10g carbs from the apple. If planned correctly, it's certainly possible to avoid insulin spikes and/or maintain ketosis.
    -Juice still has the soluble fiber of the fruit and some of the insoluble fiber, especially if you don't strain the juice.
    Personally, I blend on a daily basis because it's so fast and easy but I prefer juicing. Well-informed, well-planned juicing is the ultimate luxury and the benefits are endless.

    I stopped juicing years ago because it raised my blood sugar so badly. However, if I do a blended salad, no spikes. I use a large bunch of kale or spinach (whichever I have on hand), parsley, bell peppers (all colors), mushrooms, radishes, carrots, celery, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, onions, cucumbers, garlic, ginger and avocados with a scoop of the Doc's wheatgrass powder, a tbsp of olive oil, a tbsp of MTC oil, and 2 tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar. Blend it up and drink. Delicious! I have a blended salad for breakfast, a medium sized meal for dinner (usually 3-4 ozs of protein and a large bowl of steamed mixed veggies with butter) and then another blended salad before bed. I've lost weight, improved my A1C and sleep better at night now.

      @olivtrees8749 5 років тому +10

      I don't get this. When most people do blending they have to add in a lot of fruit to make it palatable. While if you use a juicer you can make it all veggies and it'll still come out tasting kinda sweet. Not as sweet as orange juice but still sweet, so you don't have to add the fruits to it. So if you have to add fruits to your smoothies just so you can drink it wouldn't that spike your BS more than a juice that's just veggies?

    • @cmcnabblss
      @cmcnabblss 5 років тому +15

      Oliv Trees The thing that causes the blood sugar to spike is the fact that with juice there is no fiber to slow down the metabolic process even if they are both liquids. The juice is much more potent to those who struggle with BS spikes because of if. With smoothies you get to keep all the fiber and have a much lower chance of spiking your BS.

      @@eltocayo87 Do you blend your frozen fruits and/or veggies to make smoothies? Did you use less ice or no ice as a result? If yes, that could be a side benefit. I don't have to add ice, I just use the frozen berries and/or veggies to make a smoothie. I know right, big benefit. Well, sometimes adding ice dilutes the taste of the smoothie. Just saying. Because the ice dilutes the flavor from the berries, etc. when blending. Not juicing, of course. And when blending, when adding ice, if you don't consume completely, after a certain period of time, the smoothie separates more when I added ice compared to no ice. I haven't juiced. But if juicing can be done on frozen veggies, then the juice will be cold. If that what one wants. I like my smoothies cold. So, same with juicing? But I tried juicing from other people, and it didn't matter if it was cold or not. I haven't seen anyone juiced frozen veggies. So, probably they thaw them first. Correct? Can't juice frozen veggies and fruits?

    I seem to have a compromised digestive system and for me, juicing helps me get the nutrients I need. I typically try to only use green apples and even then, each batch can have different levels of sugar in them. Tastes test and judge. I never put a whole apple in. Right now I have a bag of organic green apples, smaller than normal. Even so I only use half of it for making 3-4 cups of juice.
    I have done smoothies but my experience is they need more sugar (bananas). I have substituted plain yogurt in recipes where it calls for Vanilla flavored yogurt (which for the life of me I don't get why anyone would want any flavored yogurt if they are serious about their health).
    I will buy 2-3 lemons and blend them to a paste, put in an ice cube tray (1 TBSP per cube) and freeze. Then in a freezer bag and take out as needed for cooking.

      Check out the health benefits of using a high-powered blender like the Vitamix. There are many recipes on UA-cam for green drinks of various types. The one bad thing about some of the videos is the mixing of the bad with the good and using a powerful blender with the wrong ingredients. It is too easy for people to justify the use of bad ingredients like sugars, etc. when the instrument is “healthy”. People seem to use any method of justifying and legitimizing their bad habits, etc. -- after all, I'm using vegetables and a highly rated blender -- so what, if I am blending the bad with the good, the machine is healthy, so anything coming out of it must be also -- NOT SO FAST. Exercise in general can be good, but over-exercising or doing the right exercises in poor form can literally damage you . . . so can the ingredients being used in these blenders and those propagating good health on UA-cam. Compare and be discerning because: actions always brings consequences and ignorance can bring devastating results.

    I went down the road of juicing 90% of my greens on a keto diet and wound up with chronic pain in my lower abdominals that would come and go. Not cool. Back on the kale highway 6-8 oz per day raw. Wish I watched this video 3 months ago:(

    Juicing is really popular today & for good reasons. Here's a tip: When you're cooking up a big pot of greens, don't toss out what may be the most nutritious part - the brothy water that's left in the pot. Lots of the beneficial nutrients cook out of the greens. And what's left behind is called pot liquor or "potlikker." This is what people do when they extract the liquid in juicing vegetables. Pure fiber has no nutrients content. Some people even re-use the juice pulp by making burgers, adding it to smoothies, etc.

    • @Vamavid
      @Vamavid 5 років тому

      The fiber has non-extractable polyphenols.

      Most people heat the water to above 120 degrees when cooking veggies.
      Heat destroys nutrients. Plain and simple.
      The only way your going to get 100% of the food value is to consume it raw.

    I would recommend juicing and then freezing the juice into ice cubes then take kale, bananas and oatmeal, add a juice ice cube or so and add coconut milk. That gives you a smoothie which is extremely healthy

    I get all those fresh and freeze them,beet tops too..cabbage...keeps well, blends up great. I also use garlic ,Himalayan salt pinch ,acv...cacao. Berries freeze up great as well. I don't use too much of them ,just enough to cut the bitterness. I use a green powder ,all this has really helped me...sometimes I do some hot pepper for kick.

    I prefer the Nutribullet 'Nutrient Extraction' method over Blending Or Juicing. I like that unlike juicers and blenders, the Nutribullet breaks down beneficial fiber, pulp, seeds, and skins of fruits & vegetables into a smooth texture; which delivers food to the body in an *_easily digestible, easily absorbable form. This allows the body to receive the highest degree of nutrition that food has to offer; even more than juicing, blending, & chewing does._*
    It is very Good for people who are sick with _Chronic Disease trying to strengthen their immune system and prevent deficiency to help the body heal itself._ I'm ordering one off Amazon _(free shipping)_ that is 3times cheaper than your average Juicer and cost less than a Blender. Hope this info helps someone out there reading this comment.

    Please help does wheat grass cause a problem for anyone with gluten issues. I helped my husband years ago with wheat grass; it healed his skin so miraculously. No doctor was able to help him; he had what looked like psoriasis all over his body. It was horrible! I prayed to God to show me what to do and immediately after I prayed there was a small paragraph in a book I was reading on health that said wheat grass helps heal the skin. So I started giving him 2 ounces a day: he was cured with 6 weeks.

    Awesome video :-) I don't even own a Juicer... I blend everything... A few things you might try... Here's my recipe: 1 tsp Wheat Grass, 1 tsp Bull Kelp powder, 1 tsp Maca Root powder, 1 tsp Moringa Powder... a cup of filtered Rain Water. I also make a Pena Colada concoction with 1 can Organic Coconut milk, 1 L Rain Water, 250 ml Pineapple juice, 1 cup of Strawberries, 1 cup Blueberries and one Banana. Note: Kelp contains a lot of Iodine, so I skip it every other day as not to get too much Iodine. Note 2: I drink the Pena Colada mix throughout the day. Note 3: I didn't think to add Parsley and Lemon juice... Great idea! Kale might also be a great addition, but I hate the taste of the stuff... :-(

    Hi Dr. Berg, thanks for another informative video. (hope you're still answering comments)
    With regards to Intermittent Fasting, is the kale shake considered a meal? You say you would not drink the shake and eat a salad, so if I am fasting can I have an 11:30am and 5pm shake with protein and nothing more for that day?
    Also, concerning drinks in general (nothing with a bar code but anything other than plain water, i.e. fresh coconut water, lemon water, steeped leaves/roots tea) are these also considered meals and would spike insulin? Or would these contribute to the daily water intake?
