In terms of mustang's looks, I feel old is gold. That old design is classic for mustang.
Especially that particular model, old is definitely the way to go.
I honestly prefer the new, i love both looks ALOT, just prefer the new a little more.

I think they've been calling May a spaniel for over ten years now. And fatty would be offensive, which is why they call Clarkson an orangutan.

It's an NA. Shutting it off after revving it is really only a problem with a turbo, as far as I know

Haha I love the ending! My dad had a 1964 1/2, but sold it the year I was born, it was also the same year we moved from Commiefornia and couldn't bring it along. He owned it from '76 to '93.
The '68 is lovely but after driving a number of 2015 Mustangs at work it has quickly become one of my dream cars. I love that it looks modern while retaining the classic muscle car shape. I love the short gear shifts and the rumble of the 5.0 V8. Hopefully one day I will own one.

68 had a different grill, different vent behind the doors and wood trim on the inside instead of aluminium. But the 67 is better looking anyway :-)

I don't think the 67 Pony interior had the roll top desk style door of the 1968 Deluxe center console, but you're right about the side strakes vs. the single vertical vent. The leading edge of the hood is missing the F O R D lettering that would be on a 67, but not a 68, originally. That is a proper 67 GT grille with the horizontal bar connecting the driving lights, however. The go faster stripes along the sill line through the GT emblem were also 67 only, as was the separate letters of the "GT". The 68 GT had a badge. The 68 GT had red letters, not black on the gas cap. And it has Pony seats, which was ended in 67 in favor of the Deluxe interior. In 1968 there would have been side marker lights, shoulder belts and the padded steering wheel with a collapsible column in a US market car which I seem to remember him saying it was. I wonder if the export cars were a hodgepodge or if Hammond has been playing mix and match.

I remember seeing the show where they recreated the Bullitt burnout, they destroyed the gearbox on the first try. That wheel hop creates a hell of a shock as one moment the wheels spin freely but then suddenly stop :/

All classic pony and muscle cars Ford, Chevy or Dodge have that wheel hop unless they're fitted with the limited slip diff, some had it as a factory option, others didn't. Must for drag racing

Richard, i had a 68 with a tired 302 and then a 67 with a straight 6. I absolutely loved the 67. I did though miss out on a 67 fast back with a 289 v8 and a manual gear box. In the day that was for sale for $700! Wish I could pick one up for that now! (I wouldn't cry if someone gave me a new Boss 302...)

This is the same car. He wrote on DriveTribe that he resprayed the blue car green to match the Bullitt Mustang.
The no plate is still the same (KAS 189) since its reveal in Top Gear Season 9. It's just the paint scheme that's different.
i can really relate to hammond's daughter there. too often i have to film my own dad who seems to think he's on top gear himself.

One thing we do share in common Richard is owning & loving the ‘68 GT390! I’m in Australia & I’ve owned my original LHD Acapulco Blue Stang for 7 years now. I’ve got the Marty report & mine came off the San Jose time around the exact same time as the original Bullitt Mustangs. God knows I couldn’t have afforded the original that went up for auction a short time ago!😱 I think the ‘68 IS the best looking Mustang ever made. I do also have the 2018 Bullitt which is a bloody hoot!😈 Cheers from Down Under.😎👍🏼🍻
