I SAID what I SAID!!🤔...The actual results HERE, should've clarified my point already 🤨
Nice, quick and to the point. The drone shots are awesome for these races, it really gives an ideal perspective to see the cars racing from above, neck and neck
Performance pack doesn’t do anything for straight line speed other than better tires. Gearing is different too but there were tests done in the gen 3s that found non pp vehicles were faster from rolls
I feel like this isn't really an accurate way of testing. Driver skill level and error are to big a factor. The same driver driving both against the clock is more accurate I believe.
What was the rear end gear ratio on the GT? I’m not surprised that they were close in a drag race. The Dark Horse is a track car with additional cooling, and weight, to handle long periods of driving on a road course. Plus it has a more robust and likely heavier suspension compared to a non-performance pack GT. A GT with a active exhaust and similar rear end gear ratio should be just as fast in the drag race. A fraction less horsepower but also less weight. Lastly, were both cars wearing the same tires?
I believe the Dark horse was running the handling pack which includes 19 x 11 rear wheels with 315 width tires. The GT looked to be running the performance pack wheels that are 19 x 9.5 on the rear with 275 width tires.
I still rather have a manual. It's not the speed of the shift that makes automatic faster in a straight line,it's the gear ratios that make it quicker. Manufacturers are suckering buyers into buying automatic . One reason is to lessen human involvement with the driving experience. To get people people more willing to accept autonomous (self driving).
No quad exhaust for GTs anymore? Seems to have cheapened out. They're close on a roll, but from a dig the DH will always win in stock configurations because of more aggressive gearing and trans tuning. The DH shines better in the twisties vs straight-line performance.
@@voodoodiecast got it! I always have to ask the Ford guys because I'm not the most knowledgeable on them. But I loved that look when it came out. I assumed that all of the 18+ models got it, whether they were equipped with active exhaust or not. That Dark Horse sounds so good stock!
@@boomee78Exactly. And these same people not worried about tunes are the ones that made the S650. Which is why its a slow, heavy, ugly, untunable, turd.
Unfortunately, it will be hard to tune thr 650 because if the encryption on the ECM and even if it is hacked, Ford will know because the car will report it to Ford and the warranty will be void.
Absolutely stoked after watching this! 🏁 It's amazing how both cars have their unique strengths, but I’m curious, do you all think a manual transmission truly brings more thrill to the driving experience, or has the precision and ease of automatics won the day? 🤔 And, considering the marginal horsepower difference and focus on tight cornering, is the Darkhorse truly worth the hefty price tag or could modding the base version bring more satisfaction and value? Let's discuss! 💬👇 Also, kudos to the creators for the no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point approach! 🌟
I was one of the drivers (I'm in the car with the camera).. and I wished for a MT as it brings a ton more engagement into the equation. The biggest difference between the GT and Darkhorse (IMHO) is the adaptive dampers. They made a huge difference when I went over the bumpy sections of our test track.
@@MichaelHarleyyeah six speed is always gonna be slower but its so much more engaging plus the drifts. Also if its anything like the previous s550s you can easily swap those magnaride shocks on there.🎉 If you get serious though the magna rides are coming off anyways.
Mane I see the whole engagement thing with manuals but there's it's fallbacks. I'm much more happy with my automatic GT with the performance package, hearing it gets through those gears with also the usability of the paddles makes it all worth while🥹
Hope it's not super expensive compared to the GT. 20hp... added exhaust weight? I dont get car manufacturers, as models get higher end they add more exhaust pipes. My idea is less weight the better, the GT looks like the better choice, spend the savings in upgrades.
2018 to 2021 PP1 A10 are the special GTs showing as fast or faster quarter miles then the DarkHorse. At 460 Hp and a weight nearly 300 lb less,it’s sub 12 quarters faster or at least equal to the dark horse.
Interesting, the darkhorse has more power but also weighs more and the torque difference is so small it might as well not be there. Guess the difference in tuning must just be that good? Maybe intentionally limiting the GT to try to push the Darkhorse sales? Idk what do I know
The Dark Horse is more expensive because it offers a lot more features than the GT. It's not limiting the GT, it just has more to offer making it faster, accelerate faster, etc.
Especially for the price of both. Government emissions standards have turned these new generation Mustangs into duds. But the casual buyer will still get it just because it’s the latest but definitely not the greatest.
@@mikehughes8023Don't blame the government. Ford should have let the Mustang name ride into the sunset as a champ. Like Dodge and GM. Instead, the S650 will be remembered as a slow, heavy, ugly turd.
I'm guessing most of those commenting haven't even test driven a Dark Horse or an S650 Mustang GT. Apparently Hennessy likes the Dark Horse since they recently released their new Dark Horse H850. An 850 horsepower supercharged Gen 4 Coyote that uses forged internals from the GT500 while producing more horsepower than a GT500. You should be able to view a red one with a white track number at Hennessy performance.
so basically comparable to the difference between an s550 GT and an S550 Bullitt(or Mach1) jesus what a mega marketing win for ford..... but mega performance fail.....
A base GT with PP, active exhaust and Manual transmission is about $54k. Lowest level dark horse with a manual, which comes with MRC and active exhaust is $65k if you can even find one. For 2025 the automatic is a no cost option for either car. Dealers around me already have $3-5k off on regular GT’s and eco boosts so for me an extra $15k before TTL is not justified for the dark horse over a GTPP. I’m hoping atlas blue or lightning blue makes a reappearance because the color options suck for 2025.
This is like when the mustang cobra first came out as a trim package and it got map pockets🤣 it’s not what you expected but you took things as they came…
Everybody hating on the dark horse like they didn’t jump all over the Boss 302 back in 2013. It wasn’t dramatically faster than a normal 5.0. It’s built to handle all around better
i think there should’ve also been a 2021 mustang GT 5.0 with the 10 speed as a reference if it actually is faster or if the new hp numbers are marketing
Still have to wait for the tuning and see where they are at that point. Dark Horse for the win and you get all the options without having to pick all the options. minus the PP2.
The 2024 premium GT is 10 speed automatic with 486 horsepower and 418 torque. The main thing that matters with a car like this is that it sounds good and is fast, both sound good and are fast, the cheaper one wins.
The only Good thing is that it sounds good and it's new...I daily a 2013 corvette grandsport and it's half the price and just as fast under 120mph..then it easily pulls away after 120...yeah my blue tooth is shitty and it rattles a whole lot 345 rear tires 285 front 3200lb
@@carlitosASJ until you drop a valve. oops. Or was that the ls7 lol
Honestly the dark horse should've been twin turbo or supercharged from the factory cause it's being embarrassed by the gt in pretty much every video I've seen
This just proves the Dark Horse really isn't worth buying, once that 4th gen coyote Ecu is cracked, the DH will be irrelevant
I still prefer the S550 Mustang GT
I like this video no more too much talking just racing.
So get a GT. Got it
Man that dark horse shows where ford made all the improvements straight beast 💪🏾👹
Not SURE what delusions folks had about any landslide performance differences 20hp would make in this comparison Lol🤔
Huh??? U think horsepower is everything? It's tires, transmission ratios , steering, brakes, intake. Huhhhh lol
@@pfwww12 You apparently and completely misinterpreted what I SAID bruh!🙄...Bottom Line, all things being equal MEANING same track, same day, street, weather conditions, tires, same configuration (front eng, rwd etc) similar weight, etc. etc. 20 extra hp (especially when the car is slightly heavier) won't MEAN MUCH! I SAID what I SAID!!🤔...The actual results HERE, should've clarified my point already 🤨
This is exactly what I expected.
What were their 1/4 mile and 0-60 mph times?
I don't know about the 1/4 but they advertise 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. I have a manual transmission and I will say yep.
No videos get me more hype to watch more than Ford Mustang reviews 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥...Nissan Z comes in close 2nd. But I see Mustang I click !
will be nice to see what y'all come up with for these
Great video. 👍 to The FPV footage. Well done!
I wonder what the difference would be with them both tuned aftermarket..cool video
Same outcome
@@doorkicker8507 I agree, after posting that, someone broke the tuning and during he found cam specs...they are different
Nice, quick and to the point. The drone shots are awesome for these races, it really gives an ideal perspective to see the cars racing from above, neck and neck
Woulda been even more even with each other if the gt had the performance pack added as well.
I think it does
It does just no active exhaust.
The active exhaust is where you get the additional 6hp supposedly
Exactly.
Performance pack doesn’t do anything for straight line speed other than better tires. Gearing is different too but there were tests done in the gen 3s that found non pp vehicles were faster from rolls
Fairly representative of what 20 extra horsepower and a small bit more mechanical grip looks like
I want to see a Mach 1 vs Dark Horse comparison. Basically the same cars with 30 hp difference
Mach1 gots 480hp fam
This!
@@meanmugginj only 2021 model year
From early reports so far the Mach 1 seems to be quicker due to the lighter weight.
Also is 4000lbs 🤣 😂😅
both have a 3.55 rear end
My 2006 zo6 will obliterate this expensive ponys and dark horses 😊😊😊😊😊
@@MarcoPulido-rb7xgwow your 7.0 liter 427 cu. in. that cost almost as much as a dark horse when new would beat these in a race? No fucking way??!!
Even if the difference in power isnt massive, the Dark Horse just looks so much better imho
that is no accident
Thats what you pay an extra $15k for. A nicer front bumper and a mild tune...
Handling as well....
Don't forget the tremec trans and predator rods and the suspension
ahh yes, which americans care so much about when they floor it at the drag strip@@mk5rob42
I dont think enough people know that the dark horse is a handling package with a bit more power. Its as fast as an m3 around a track.
This is very true!
Automátics are faster. Period . If you want the fun of stick fine but autos are faster nowadays. No comparison.
@@AfriqueNY Electric cars are faster. Period. If you want the sound of an ICE fine but electric is faster nowadays. No comparison.
@@Blas4ublasphemy agreed. Can't wait to get one
@@AfriqueNY LOL, hope you love it. I'll just have to try and enjoy my T56 Camaro, Fiesta ST and Lotus Elise....
I will take the GT over the DH. Seeing how the DH MSRP is 10k more than the GT.
No quad exhaust for GTs anymore? Seems to have cheapened out. They're close on a roll, but from a dig the DH will always win in stock configurations because of more aggressive gearing and trans tuning. The DH shines better in the twisties vs straight-line performance.
Optional quad tips when you get the active exhaust with additional 6hp.
@@voodoodiecast aahh, that's right. Gotcha! But didn't all '18-22 GTs come with quad tips?
@@hellkitty1014 yes all 2018+ came with quad tips which makes this “new” mustang weird to not have quad tips standard.
@@voodoodiecast got it! I always have to ask the Ford guys because I'm not the most knowledgeable on them. But I loved that look when it came out. I assumed that all of the 18+ models got it, whether they were equipped with active exhaust or not. That Dark Horse sounds so good stock!
Not impressive enough to justify spending the extra $32k canadian for it.
Thanks guys
When the tune comes out that dark horse will be pointless 😭 you could make a dark horse at that point.
Not everybody is worried about a tune
@@boomee78Exactly. And these same people not worried about tunes are the ones that made the S650. Which is why its a slow, heavy, ugly, untunable, turd.
Unfortunately, it will be hard to tune thr 650 because if the encryption on the ECM and even if it is hacked, Ford will know because the car will report it to Ford and the warranty will be void.
In a straight line yeah... But Id be willing to bet on a road course you'd want the DH. Better suspension and more set up for road course things.
In America is all about roll and drag racing 😂
The drone footage is awesome
I know the Dark Horse is the more desired car, but not for nothing the regular GT (in my opinion) sounds a bit better. The Dark Horse tone sounds off.
Sounds blatty to me.
Should be compared with the GT with active exhaust, it is said that it will have some extra HP
All that dark horse is is a trim kit lol pretty impressed by that GT though man
2018 to 2021 PP1 A10 are the special GTs showing as fast or faster quarter miles then the DarkHorse. At 460 Hp and a weight nearly 300 lb less,it’s sub 12 quarters faster or at least equal to the dark horse.
It's funny to see that the Mustangs are starting to look more like the Camaros rather than the Camaro looking like the Mustang
I don’t see that and the Camaro is over. The mustang is still charging forward.
@@drp1bb856Charging? Its the only option left. And it's inferior to anything Mopar and GM. Its a turd, dear Ford employee.
@@ClickbaitMotorsports camaro is discontinued and dodge is electric.🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@ClickbaitMotorsports the first year the mustang was sold internationally it was the the number 1 selling car. Go cope elsewhere
@ClickbaitMotorsports you can dislike it but inferior is just wrong. It's a better S550 and the S550 was the jack of all trades out of the big 3.
This new generation looks soooo good!
And the end of this video, they raced them back to the dealership to trade them in for a s550.
So save the money and get a GT
If all you care about is driving in a straight line, sure.
Great video, need more like this please
Looking pretty slow to me
Especially for the price of both.
Stang hate glazer club. Y’all just repeating what ur told.
@@ClickbaitMotorsports For someone that hates them so much, you seem to be weirdly obsessed with watching the videos and commenting about them.
That’s honestly a big difference for jus 20hp. DH for track purposes anyways idk what y’all expected
I was kinda thinking the same thing. I thought it would be closer with only a 20hp and like 8? Tq difference
Those who paid like 90k for the darkhorse are probably ready to hang themselves after watching this😂😆
That's about what I would expect between the 2 cars
I'm guessing most of those commenting haven't even test driven a Dark Horse or an S650 Mustang GT. Apparently Hennessy likes the Dark Horse since they recently released their new Dark Horse H850. An 850 horsepower supercharged Gen 4 Coyote that uses forged internals from the GT500 while producing more horsepower than a GT500. You should be able to view a red one with a white track number at Hennessy performance.
I’m happy with the GT
That’s a good sounding drag race
so basically comparable to the difference between an s550 GT and an S550 Bullitt(or Mach1)
jesus what a mega marketing win for ford..... but mega performance fail.....
Some draggy data would be nice
A base GT with PP, active exhaust and Manual transmission is about $54k.
Lowest level dark horse with a manual, which comes with MRC and active exhaust is $65k if you can even find one.
For 2025 the automatic is a no cost option for either car. Dealers around me already have $3-5k off on regular GT’s and eco boosts so for me an extra $15k before TTL is not justified for the dark horse over a GTPP.
I’m hoping atlas blue or lightning blue makes a reappearance because the color options suck for 2025.
Hennessy, "I think it needs another thousand horses".
Great video straight up ⬆️
You ride in cars with a automatic but you DRIVE cars with a MANUAL...Real car enthusiasts DRIVE THEIR CARS!!!
Exactly what everyone expected 🤣🤣🤣
Can’t wait for the GTD!
The only theoretical difference should be in cornering, appearance and a minor increase in straight line acceleration.
This is what working doing what you love looks like... fun. One day
Dark Horse!!!!
This is like when the mustang cobra first came out as a trim package and it got map pockets🤣 it’s not what you expected but you took things as they came…
Epic exhaust song. Remins me of the Bullit exhaut sound from he movie.
Everybody hating on the dark horse like they didn’t jump all over the Boss 302 back in 2013. It wasn’t dramatically faster than a normal 5.0. It’s built to handle all around better
Great camera work, fantastic video. Good job! 💯
i think there should’ve also been a 2021 mustang GT 5.0 with the 10 speed as a reference if it actually is faster or if the new hp numbers are marketing
thanks ford for this new mustang camaro now i can have both at the same time love it
Still have to wait for the tuning and see where they are at that point. Dark Horse for the win and you get all the options without having to pick all the options. minus the PP2.
That's one hell of a video 👍🔥
The 2024 premium GT is 10 speed automatic with 486 horsepower and 418 torque. I own one brand new trust me the dark horse is a beast but dude in the GT wasn't driving it the correct way I guarantee if I was driving mines I would be at the rear wing all the way on that dark horse my neighbor has a challenge scat and I eat that Titanic for lunch especially on snake turns.
Pay 10k more to have the same car w a different name. Interesting.
