- In this video my wife and I continue our journey into Maiden with Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
We both thought this song was amazing and are looking forward to more Iron maiden.
So, I guess no one is gonna talk about Tasha Warriors hoodie?? *Grabs empty bottles*
3 days and no one has replied to this comment?
WARRIORS...
I swear I was going to say something.. for a different reason lol. I'm 48 now.. but the h.s. I went to , warriors was our school mascot and name. All of us who were part of the long haired hippy crowd connected on Facebook and call our group the hippy warriors. Lol. I know it's not relevant to your shirt. But when I saw it . .I was like " i have to get me one" lol
you kidding? first thing i noticed. warrior of peace, a saying that is contradictory in fact but true in spirit. many great spiritual truths are like this.
As in Warriors, come out to plaaaayyyy!!?
@@ParanoidIntentions Unless I can talk her out of it? I'm probably not going to bring it up! :-P
In High School we studied this poem. We told the teacher, and older, very proper lady, about this song. She asked us to bring in a copy....I had the cassette, if you know what that is...lol. She played the whole song in class, and then we had a discussion about the song. On the test, she actually had a few questions about the song. At the time I thought that was just the coolest thing ever.
Keith Harrelson I had it in school first year of high school in Lebanon. It is Samuel Taylor Coleridge he formed the romantic age which is also known as the 18th century in english poetry. I love Bruce Dickinson he is the best vocalist of iron maiden and very happy to know beat throat cancer, also Steve Harris by far the best bassist in the world. The whole band is very talented and epic.
She was the coolest teacher ever indeed
I did the same thing with the Maiden song "Alexander the Great" in history class!
hey keith, same with me.. studied it in HS as well. told my teacher the same thing. brought it in and had the whole class listen. I got extra credit for bringing it to her attention.
@@n8vsarestillhere111 same for me got extra credit for bringing this song to an english lit class
Sometimes in concert before this song Bruce says “This is an example of what NOT to do when a bird shits on you!”
Lol hahahahaha

I'll admit I cracked up when I heard him proclaim this moral on the Live After Death album.
I was 16 yrs old when this song came out in 1984. It still gives me goosebumps in 2021.
same here, hope to catch them on their senjutsu tour
I was 4 years old!!! 😂
You're falling so hard for Maiden! Welcome home, guys! We Maiden fans are a family. Welcome home 😉
Susana Sergent I’ve found Maiden fans are some of the most Loyal, not only to the band but to each other I’ve ever seen. I’m thankful to be a family member.
The best thing about Maiden fans (or just metal bands in general) is that they stay true to their favourit band forever. Rock and metal dead? Anyone who thinks this is stupid up to the point of foolishnis. \m/
Annie Otten My 7 year old son loves Iron Maiden, Megadeth, AC/DC, KISS, Manowar, Type O-Neg, Kid Rock, Hank Jr., and the Old Town Road song, 😂. As long as we teach our kids the sounds of music it’ll never die. BTW Iron Maiden is his favorite and the most underrated song from The Number of the Beast “The Prisoner,” is his favorite right now. This kid’s just like his dad, how can you truly have a favorite Iron Maiden song? 🤘🤘UpTheIrons🤘🤘
@@Chris_Clark1MaidenFan I personally think THE PROPHECY is the most underrated song.
tyhnbgtyhnbgt Yeah but the first minute and half is awesome. That drum beat and guitar riff, Dayum.
As a MASSIVE Iron Maiden fan, it is wonderful to see people who ordinarily would not listen to them, hear a titanic track like this. Excellent.
I feel the same!
I like how you chose to use titanic. At first, I was like, who chooses that word what a dope. Then instantly im like: im dumb..that was the witty option, as opposed to any other synonyms lol
@@dangerousdiscourse honestly after you pointed it out I don't see any better word it's perfect
Turning into metal heads. This is a beautiful thing to watch. I agree that listening to Maiden songs musically and lyrically does take you on a journey. And you notice the Bruce Dickinson laugh. I call it the Bruce Dickinson cackle. It is a part of his signature style that adds to his theatrical performances on stage.
No one can compare to Iron Maiden. In my opinion. Not even close.
they are certainly up there,but i saw hendrix live,and the stones,the who,led zep,james brown,stevie wonder at his early 70's peak,the doors,dylan,sabbath,purple and pink floyd.(all in the 70's, 80's and the 90's)
so i've been a little spoiled, but Maiden always put on a show and i've seen them 7 times since 1979 and loved them every time.Live is their forte though for sure.
They are good, but in my book, theres no one that even comes close to Maiden. They are all around 1st class. On every level. Best part is they did not destroy themselves either. Very unique indeed.

@@karlaelvir2705 sweet lineup. I'd love to see that on a concert ticket.
Truth! Can’t compare a one of a kind.
Also consider that after performing a 3 hour concert, lead singer Bruce Dickinson gets on the band's airplane and is the pilot who flies the plane.
Saw Ed Force One land at Nottingham East Midlands Airport when they headlined Download Festival at Donington Park.

I used to live in WV in the late 80's and me and my best friend used to pray for thick foggy nights so we could go out on the river just to listen to this song. Was some of the best times in my life Just sitting in the boat in the middle of the fog covered river. Definitely a song that's lyrics can paint a vivid picture in your mind and make you feel like you're there. UP THE IRONS!!!!
Wow, so awesome
I wish I could have been there with you - that's sounds awesome.
@@McKavian it was the best. It was so quiet, dark and foggy, really made us feel like we were in the song.
Word up for WV....Charleston here!
When I was in 9th grade my English teacher let me bring in this song and play it for the class when we were studying this poem. It was really cool.
Not a big headbanger but I love this band. Every song is like reading a book. It takes you on a journey. I have seen them 3 times and their concerts blow you away.
I listened to this song in the 80's from behind the Iron Curtain, on a copy of a copy of a copy of cassette.

Same here :)
Thats awesome, in Berlin! After the Wall in Berlin came down, my Schweinfurt metal band called Mystery traveled into the former East Germany where I performed in front of a bunch of skin heads and Nasis!! I blew them away with Maiden singing songs like Fear of thw Dark, Alexander the Great, Wasted Years, Infinite Dreams, Hallowed be thy Name etc.....
This song was released in 1984, long before Pirates of the Carribean
Glad you 2 liked the song. It is 1 of my favorites
You should watch the live version from their "Live After Death" show. It's pretty awesome.

The best I’ve ever heard it done.
MAIDEN always live. It's diferent and a mucho better experience
You are correct live version from live after death is the best
Even better performance on Flight 666 dvd
Takes me back to being 14 when this album was released .
"Empire of the Clouds" is another epic story told by Iron Maiden
Dan Harmon YES!!! Another epic story
it's also probably more instrumental than the Mariner. I think these guys would have a strong appreciation for Empire of the Clouds if they liked this song
The two times you reacted with "ooooh...." to the lyrics, both of those time the lyrics were original stanzas from Coleridge's poem... "water water everywhere and not a drop to drink" and the whispered portion about the star-dogged moon.
"Pirates of the Caribbean: curse of the black pearl" was loosely based on the same story, which could have been called "curse of the albatross".
how do you correlate pirates in the Caribbean, and a expedition to the north pole?
@@terrevoges3242 Not familiar with the poem ,eh? No one was headed to the north pole in either story. Dozens of similarities between the two stories, none are hard to spot.
Hey, they should do Emerson, Lake and Palmer's "Pirates"!
@@terrevoges3242 the mariner's voyage is to the Antarctica, not Arctica: the lyrics go "...south to the land of snow and ice..." and later they sail back north until all is calm.
Thanks for getting to my request, much appreciated, so glad you liked it. Much love TNT Family. Up the Irons
Excellent song, Excellent reaction!!🤘🤘🤘
This is a true masterpiece! The good thing is that there's still so much more Iron Maiden to listen to!!!
Why do my eyes fill with water everytime I hear the ending?
The mariner's bound to tell of his story
To tell this tale wherever he goes
To teach God's word by his own example
That we must love all things that God made
And the wedding guest's a sad and wiser man
And the tale goes on and on and on
It is always a pleasure listening to intelligent people discovering Iron Maiden
Lmao she putting you on your place with that shhhh finger
“ THE FINGER HAS SPOKEN “
This is one of their best songs ever. The composition of this song is pure genius. I just love how Maiden puts your mind right there as you are actually watching the destruction as it happens.... Pure genius.
Rime, Seventh and Alexander top3
I know I shouldn’t covet another man’s wife, but DAYMN, Tasha is AWESOME!
I, like others, would love to see you take on Maiden’s WWI epic, Paschendale.
Also, try out their incredible ode to D-Day, The Longest Day.

Your reaction to the lyrics made me so happy 😁😁 thinking to myself finally someone that gets it! 🤟😎🤟
As you said, this feels like a journey. Maiden with Bruce adopted a more "epic" attitude early on. They have many songs like this one, like Alexander the Great for example (you will love it). I think you should check their song Wrathchild and/or Killers from their Killers album. Back then, they had Paul Di Anno on the vocals, and oh damn, Maiden were almost a different band back then due to his drastically different nature as a singer. Paul, in contrast to Bruce who screams and has a higher pitch, was rough, dangerous and gritty. He was amazing in his own way. It would be interesting to see your take on the Paul days of Maiden.
great description

To this day, "Remember tomorrow" is one of my favourite Maiden tracks. Di Anno was a brilliant vocalist!
@@bhurzumii4315 I personally always preferred Paul over Bruce. Paul had something that I can't explain. Bruce is phenomenal and more articulated, but Paul has a certain voice color and way of singing that just resonates immensely with me. I hope T will react to a song from Killers soon.
This song is a masterpiece.
Agreed
Never have I hit the like button so fast in my life. Great reaction to this masterpiece, guys! One awesome epic Maiden song out of the way, plenty more to go. Chronologically, Alexander The Great should be the next one.
They even play this song live, and it sounds just as good
I remember taking my mom to see this tour and she was so scared of all the heavy metal freaks but by the end of the show she the boy next to her with the blue spiked Mohawk was “very nice kid” and we aren’t scary at all, just a bunch of people listening to “interesting and fun music”
I am a Maiden fan sinds I was 13 years old. Now I am 49.
In my time music fans where separated.
Metal fans from other kind of music.
Nice to see and here your comments from both that probably not into Metal.
Love to see the lady swagging and bouncing on IRON MAIDEN like it's an RNB song 🤘
With the passing of Neal Peart I fell like a 2112 would be real nice to see
This song is a masterpiece. You can probably see why it's a definite fan favourite. You have to listen to a live version too. It's even more epic when it's live
A mariner lost out at sea with no water. The rain was a blessing. Recieving rain must have felt like redemption from the curse of killing the albatross.
I had an honour to watch this live few times... Man... Forever engraved in my mind

Do - 22 Acacia Avenue. "Meet a lady that I know." "Red light's burning bright tonight."
If you can't afford it, just mention my name...😉
One a favorite song from one of my favorite albums from them. You had mentioned that it's like a journey with their music. I see it as close to literature in musical form as you can get.
This song is based on a 18th century epic poem of the same name by an English poet of the Romantic movement called Samuel Taylor Colleridge. The poem itself is 27 chapters long and is a hell of a read but this songs distills it perfectly, even has a couple of direct quotes from the poem ("Day after day....." & "One after one..."). My personal favourite Maiden track, absolutely love the Live After Death version.
One of Iron Maiden's best.. I could never get tired of this song!
Man I love you two! Both of you seem like real down to earth, real genuine type of folks. Yo man God bless you guys, peace!
Their song “Alexander the Great”, is also great, if you like this long epic history laden song...
Oh year. Love the song :) One of the greatest..
That's what so awesome about Iron Maiden. Not only do they absolutely kill it musically, but they tell deep stories in the process. This band is a treasure for all generations, especially the young ones.
Do "The loneliness of the long distance runner" next...Another great yet underrated maiden song
Cristian Perovich totally agree my friend. Loneliness is one of my favourite maiden songs. Absolutely fukin epic. Up the irons

VT Alt Exactly, my 7 year old son says “Dad, Eddie can kick the devil’s ass.” 🤘🤘🤘🤘
@@Chris_Clark1MaidenFan its almost as if the people organizing those moms against metal back in the day had in fact, anti Christian agenda. I am a Christian as is my family, we all love maiden, amongst many other bands. When normal people, like me but not a Christian, see the outrage over beautiful art such as this, by 'Christians', they develop an adversion to the faith and its adherents. With all that being said: I do sometimes actually wonder if modern rap is being carried out for satanic purposes lol. Obviously its meant to destroy culture and its agenda is certainly nefarious..doesnt take a big imagination to connect those dots.
Evil exists in this world, it manifests in many forms. Whether you believe in Jesus/the faith he inspired or not. Any individual with a reasonably high IQ should be able to figure out that there is so much about our realm that we simply do not know. So many possibilities, its beyond our ability to conceptualize. I cringe when some of these "christians" speak its nauseating. It is very easy to see why some people dislike Christians.
Unfortunately the vast majority of Christians in the west arent Christian in actuality. Remember, Jesus was a revolutionary, and a revolution in every western country should be our societal imperative. A faith whose God/King came to earth and conducted a revolution could prove handy. ESPECIALLY one who (for the most part, aside from money lenders lol) never got violent..just my .02
As a 15 year old young musician, this song was one of the first a took the time to learn on the guitar from beginning to end to play with my friends. We never had a singer to play but we would play this over and over again because the sensations playing this together and telling this musical story is as meaningful as the lyrics. To this day I could probably play every note even though I probably haven't attempted to play in 25 years. Watching you guys listen reminded me listening to this one my tape player over and over again. Music can be like magic sometimes and it feels good to see other people feel that way. Im a grown man now but can be transported to 15 by just the opening lick of this song. Really enjoyed and Godspeed to our Mariner.
