Patek Philippe Nautilus vs Audemars Piguet Royal Oak

- The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Patek Philippe Nautilus seem to be distant cousins. They're both stainless steel sport watches from two of the most esteemed brands, and they both have pretty uniques designs.
But they share way more than that. Both watches were designed by the late, famous watch designer, Gerald Genta.
We take a minute to look at the fascinating history of these two watches, and then let you know which modern version we think is best.

I would pick the AP over the PP
Between these two, the Royal Oak. That dial and bracelet are amazing. Between Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet, Patek hands down
Great to see someone give their ACTUAL opinion. Great video.
Aside from the obvious prestige and credibility with the WIS crowd, I never thought either of these were particularly appealing.
ugabrew I agree completely
a better comparison would be 15202 vs 5711 instead of 15500 since 15500 is more towards from the 15300->15400 line, it is not the regular jumbo. That said, i would still choose nautilus as it looks more refined; that said, either would be fine at retail of course LUL.
edit: i did not know they updated to the new movement lately. only diff i knew about was the geneva seal they transitioned over to PP seal haha..
Definitely the Nautilus has a more though through look. Thank you so much for another video. When will the next of those EXCELLENT 'Watch Stories' videos comes out? Thank you so much for posting them all!!! 👏👌👍
I can't stress enough that you have THE ABSOLUTE BEST watch channel all round, with not only one of the best imagery and aesthetics, but also the absolute worldwide best balance of interesting subjects and brands covered in the last years. Please keep posting and education us, while at the same time making us fall in love with new and different models, both vintage and new. After a few months watching and subscribing to a bucketload of medium to sufferable watch channels, let me express my uttermost and superlative massive THANK YOU!!! 😀
I'm sorry for the over excitement and hyperbolic grammar, but I really have no other way to express how good I believe your work is, as for the absolute satisfaction I get from learning by watching your channel. Cheers
Holy blog batman
I have to go AP here but I think patek make the best and some of most beautiful watches... my personal favorite are jaquet deroz they are truly works of art
Two beautiful pieces. One day hopefully...
I love the RO but I don't love its price so I guess I'll never own one. I prefer the 15300 reference for its 39 mm diameter.
I absolutely agree. Nautilus overall but that tapiserie dial is amazing up close.
There is no hard choice.
PP for dress and AP for sporty look, but please (!!!) the offshore! 🤙
Yeeee my boiiii......I've always loved the PP ....it's such an ELEGANT WATCH.....BEST REVIEW 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Need to provide the price range on these reviews.
The Nautilus is an off-brand Royal Oak.
Didn't know Genta designed the Pasha and the BVLGARI
Royal Oak wins this battle any day!
Could have added the Over Seas to this video.
AP all the way!!
In my opinion the comparison is not correct because they play different sports. People that buy royal oak 41 wants a robust watch and don’t care about purists that say “jumbo or nothing”. Personally i wear everyday my 15400 and i wouldn’t change it for a nautilus or a 15202
5711 all the way
BUDDY that Patek is $300k+ LOL
PATEK wins
Royal Oak for men. Nautilus for boys.
Please dont forget Royal Oak is the only pioneer of new "hiend steel sport watch" era in 1970s. Other mentioned pieces, like Nautilus and many others are just a followers and this fact is in my eyes quite boring, there is no so strong story like with AP Royal Oak, which practically saved whole AP and slowly established new segment of luxury watches. There was a many jokes on Royal Oak side on the beginning and majority of watchmakers like a Patek and Rolex didnt believe in sucess of this new concept of big and very expensive steel watch with this outstanding level of craftmenship, but just after a two year when the first thousand of Royal Oaks was finally successfully sold, other brand decided to ask the same designer and no longer after presented their "hiend steel sport models" as well to have something competetive, what a hypocrisy, isnt it? Huh. I dont understand many of guys prefering Nautilus before a Royal Oak, there are just no BALLS on the Patek. :)
Ha! They're both hideous, absurdly overpriced testaments to the silliness of well-heeled knuckleheads who never read The Emperor's New Clothes.
Ones the original. The other a pretender copycat
