- After a long wait I finally got the call from the Audemars Piguet boutique to pick up my new Royal Oak and I was beyond excited! The Audemars Piguet Royal is a icon designed by Gerald Genta and introduced in 1972 and is until today the grail watch for many watch collectors. I am curious to see which is your favotire Audemars Piguet watch and if you would wear this 37mm version?

I love how the date flicked over at just 10 seconds past midnight. The watchmaker who aligned the hands when assembling the watch did a great job. I've never had a Rolex that changed date that precise

AP will always be my dream watch (until I can afford one). I agree with you cause I'm an AP guy too. I love APs. There is a reason why it's one of the holy trinity. The Nautilus is a nice watch and i like to look at it but the Royal Oak touches something inside me as well as when I look at a beautiful work of art and I feel the same way when I look at a Bvlgari octo finissimo.

a beauty no discussion, they say AP is a one trick pony but what a pony. I had the chance to try the 41mm model and what impressed me the most was the bracelet, I also liked the shiny and thin bezel but ohh man do be careful. given the nautilus is more than twice the money I'm not so sure about the comparison but the nautilus case design and machinery inside puts it at a higher level. Take both if you can.

Just got the steel chronograph black dial. 41mm wears like 43 and it's a heavy watch (180gr with some links taken off, feels no smaller and lighter than SD43)... not for the small wrists for sure but fits perfectly to my 18cm wrist. But what a beauty, cannot take my eyes off...for me the best looking chronograph in the market

36-38mm watches are usually a bit small for me but having of tried this at the AD it fits perfectly. Can't wait to receive my call. The 41 mm version looks ridiculously large on my wrist even though most of my watches are from 40-42mm

I really love the AP Royal Oak, not only because it's a beautiful and quite outstanding watch, but because it was Tim Bergling's (a.k.a AVICII) favourite watch.
Back in my early 20s, I was a huge fan of Avicii and never missed a chance to see him live. When he passed away in 2018, my heart was beyond broken. Fast forward to 2020, I was just getting back into watches and discovered that Tim wore an AP Royal Oak (he must've owned several) in pretty much every single photo taken of him. Probably his coolest piece was a 57th St. Offshore Chronograph limited to 250 pieces, that was sold exclusively on the opening day of the AP boutique on 57th street in New York.
I personally don't have the money to afford a Royal Oak, but I recently bought a Bersigar homage that comes pretty close to the original design-wise. Now I know, it's just a cheap homage with a simple quartz movement, but at least I get an idea of what it feels like to wear an AP Royal Oak on my wrist!

At 8:03 why did the date jump from 24 to 25 after 8 seconds to the hour? Didn’t see the crown moving.
RO is sharp, Nautilus is silky on the wrist, both watches are comfortable and nice look. I personally a bit prefer Nautilus due to it fits better on me. But I can say RO has the best bracelet with fantastic presence and it is definitely one of the best dress sports watch.
Can't go wrong with either or! 😁👌

The misaligned screws on the case back would drive me nuts and for this level of watch it’s totally unacceptable.
Well, it's screws which u don't see while wearing it. Kinda don't care about them since I haven't seen a watch with aligned screws so far that comes to mind. 😁
If you look closely they are aligned to form a circle
@@SwissWatchGang I imagine you do care but after dropping a serious amount you say this to yourself to justify the purchase. I think what the OP meant is that AP should not have this issue due to the luxury nature and cost of the product.
@@grady60 when I say I don't care, I don't care. And I would drop this kind of money for the AP 15450 anytime considering the strong value on the market this model fetches. AP nor any other brand have alligned screws, find me one that does and I will complain that my AP isn't to par with it. :)
@@grady60 So what are you now? Some sort of mind reader? The man says he doesn't care. Well, he doesn't care. I wouldn't either. Those screws weren't meant to line up like the ones on the top. It's like those assholes who expect the damn crown on a Rolex to not to be upside down or sideways when you screw it in. It is not meant to be like that even if by sheer luck it does line up in some watches.

I think this watch is as close to horological perfection as is possible. Congratulations on the purchase!
Ps I prefer this over the nautilus but feel the nautilus is a bit more versatile and perhaps works better for formal occasions than the Royal Oak. That said I’d still go for the RO if I could choose!

I've heard many claim the bracelet is too slim on the 37mm version, but seeing you wear it on your thicker wrists makes me disagree. You wear it very well, and that blue is fantastic 🔥

im new to watches and want to acquire this. I am in the Illinois area and only have one retailer that carries AP should I just Pay resell? because I dont know how else to get one
I would callevery AP store in the US and ask them for one or travel abroad to order one. I wouldnj't pay resell because at that price point you have a LOT more possibilities to get different watches but depends how much you love it.

As close as I’ll get to an AP. Collecting fine watches was a game I used to play but now I’d rather spend all that cash on improving my home, taking a great trip, buying a nice bike and a delicious meal. Plus, the burden of a 2k/5 years maintenance of such a watch just isn’t worth it, imo.
Well I try to have everything you counted before buying a watch so I put travel and life experiences before everything else too :). The maintenance cost I will ignore for now haha.

Nice watch. I prefer the Royal Oak. I recently viewed an AP movement disassembly on "The Naked Watchmaker" - the construction and attention to detail was second to none. AP doesn't cut corners.

I would choose an Aquanaut. Regardless AP has top tier watches, but Patek has my heart.
