How to retrieve lost or forgotten codes for your DSC system. Also shows the lock out and factory default processes for these systems.
DSC guide to factory default system - cms.dsc.com/download2.php?t=1&...
If you are factory defaulting an ADT panel, it will default to the installer code 6321, rather than 5555.

So glad to find your videos that are helping immensely with a non documented system in our new home. Have you done any videos for adding partitions? Thanks very much!
Thank you for this great information. Factory reset didn't work for me to reset to 5555, despite no relay clicks. Thanks to you, I found that it reset it to 6321 ADT code. Thank you for such a helpful video!
I installed a better control panel and found out the user code 5555 would not work so I used a jumper wire like you said and it worked great, now I have a new user code and I can finish setting up alarm system!! Thanks
Glad it helped Richard, take care. Kyle
Awesome video!! This helped me so much thank you!
Another great video & i love it !! Your channel should get more attention & more subscribers. Many thanks!
Thanks, glad you like them. Kyle
Thank you... This video was great.
Glad it helped. Kyle
Brilliant! You just solved a big problem for me with my 14 year old DSC 832 system.
Good news Fredrich, glad it helped. Kyle
Question: Are you saying there is an installer code PLUS a lock out code or the installer code also serves as a lockout code if you don't know it? Mine clicks like in yours and when I called the people that installed it thorugh the builder they gave me 2 installer codes and neither worked. Is there another code too?
Great video. I'm wondering if you can shed some light on my issue. PC1832 system with 3 dsc keypads like the one in your video. For some bizarre reason the system sets itself to "away" mode at 3:31am every saturday. Any ideas?
if i do a factory default will the zones be recognized when powering back up.
I factory reset my was 5010 but the install password is still something unknown. Master got reset to 1234, but factory doesn’t work with 5555, 5010, 1550, 1500, or 6321. It only makes the “error” long beep sound after I have entered 6 digits, like *8 and then 123456 - is that normal? Or does it mean my installer code is something 6 digits long?
Hi - I bought a home and it had adt, and we’ve been using it for just the door chimes, recently the wrong button got pushed and it’s now armed in away mode... and I don’t know the code and the company doesn’t have a code. What should I do? I want to plug it back in and use the door chimes, but every time I turn it on it’s on armed mode. Help?? 🥲
I have a DSC PC1616 (also don't know installer code) and when press *8 to get into installer programming, it gives me a long beep and doesn't allow me to enter any code; pressing. *2 works to see any warning status. Does this mean installer code is locked out? When i completely power down and power back up, there's not clicking sound. I could use some help? Should i try the hard reset anyways?
hello, and thank you for your tutorials.
I again have a fault 1-3 "general system fault" yet the alarm works correctly, commissioning, shutdown, ... sending to home automation on my app ...
it's happened 2 times already and I called an alarm company each time who disconnected the 2 x batteries and cut the main power supply and restarted the DSC, then the fault disappeared. The batteries are less than 1 year old and work very well
But apparently during a micro power cut?, the Orange default comes back
do you have any idea how to fix this error?
thank you
Did i miss it? I am doing a take over and the system owner does not have the installer or master code. Any way to find the master code or change the installer code?
Hi purchased a home with this system, works fine.
When I test system back door sets off siren ok, but front door does not.
How do I fix.

Hi. i am trying to find the integration identification number so i can use the app, would you have an idea of how to find this. Thank you!
Hi I have ADT c&k 236 can explain how to reset
I too would also like to know if I do a factory reset will the zones be recognized when I power backup, thx great video aswell
New subscriber 👍
If you factory default the system it will go back to its original settings. The current zones will be erased and you'll have to re-do them, as well as the rest of the settings and programming. At securedsurrouding.com I go over programming in the course. Thanks, Kyle.
I have a DSC power 608 that has functioned ok with a trouble condition 3 (phone line - we don't have one, that's the only trouble). A few weeks ago we had a power cut, and then alarm was activated. Returning to power, I found that the battery was dead. Replaced that, and still have trouble 3, but this time cannot activate the alarm. Also don't have engineer code, and have tried lots of combos, including the obvious / advertised.
So, tried the process in this video to reset engineer code to get in and bypass telephone line. Didn't get very far - took out power, then unplugged battery, and all hell broke loose! Put back battery, and panel went into 'program' mode for a while - then gave up and all hell again! Quick apologetic WhatApp to neighbours, then cut all power to house, waited, reconnected, and panel back to where I was pre-power cut: ready to arm with trouble 3 (and 8 too, but I can sort out date/time).
In summary, the process didn't work for me, and I'm now back working, but I've no idea how! And nobody here (Bournemouth, Dorset UK) will service the alarm either. Hate the alarm, hate keypads, hate engineer codes (or lack of). But at least I can activate the alarm again🙂.
Hi Kyle - I tried to send this message via your webpage but it won’t let any forms be submitted and says contact the site administrator. I have a quick DSC alarm question which I’m wondering if you can help me with please.
I’ve just powered down my PC1616 (V4.60) (including taking off battery); left it overnight and powered back up. I can't get my RFK5500 keyboard to auto enroll now on powering up. It powers up and the date/time correctly set and then when I press a key the screen says Press (*) to Select Partition. When I do that I get another screen which shows the numbers 1,2,3 through 8 and under the Partition number 1 is the letter N. I can select that for the system and it then says registering. However, it doesn't keep it and after about 2 minutes it forgets it. Any ideas on cause / solution please?
Brilliant
I went to the site and called the telephone number but stated that they DO NOT DO ALARM SYSTEM AND HANG UP. SO DO YOU HAVE A WORKING TELEPHONE NUMBER BECAUSE I HAVE ONE QUESTION. IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THE INSTALLER TO BE ABLE BY TELEPHONE TO DIAL INTO YOUR SYSTEM AND TO CAUSE ALARM FAULTS ? That is my one question if you can please answer that. THANK YOU !
What if my kids armed it but we never knew the pass code , will it work got a power 832
so just to clarify, if you don't know the master code and/or the installer code, and the installers locked the system (I hear the clicks after power off/power on), i'm pretty much out of luck then since the company who installed it are no longer in business? also, if my system is in alarm mode, I have no way of getting it out of alarm mode and I can't factory reset it since I don't know the installer code, correct? I've got the 1616 and a pk5501 keypad. thanks in advance
Unfortunately, your're probably out of luck. Unless you can get a hold of the installer or previous owner. You will likely have to just swap out the main panel. You could re-use all your other devices though. Theres more info on this process at Secured Surrounding. Good luck, Kyle
@@SecuredSurrounding Thanks!
@@xenserve I am in almost the exact same situation with getting the lockout clicks and the alarm is in an "armed" state. I am curious about what you did to solve your issue. My system is a bit older in the DSC PC 1550. Secured Surrounding, I would welcome your comments too. I have tried to factory reset by jumping the PGM1 to zone 1 as well with no luck.
@@michaelmoore3500 I never "solved" it as the company who did the initial install is defunct, and the previous owners are unavailable, so the installer code is lost. I tried jumping too, but not knowing the installer code has locked the system completely. As suggested by Secured Surrounding, replacing the main PCB and then rebuild/reprogram the system from scratch myself and optionally reusing the existing devices or replacing/adding as desired, or go with a company who will install their solution are the options.
This did not work for me in terms of factory default but I also didn’t hear the clicks you mentioned. Am I missing something here??
If there were clicks, then it means you can't factory default the system and it has been dealer locked out. You need a dealer to unlock it, they have a special interface to do that with apparently.
I have a DSC PK5500 keypad with a PC1832 circuit board. My PC1832 circuit board give me the 8 clicks. My question is, can I replace my circuit board with a PC1864 board? They are much easier to find for sale than the PC1832 boards. Thanks.
Yep no problem there, they are the same. The 64 just means that's the max zones the system allows. Once you swap things out you'll just have to re-do your programming and will be set. Thanks, Kyle.
@@SecuredSurrounding Thanks so much for the reply. I ordered a replacement board yesterday. I misspoke in my first comment. I actually have the PK5501 keypad. I see you have a PK5500 and an RFK5500 for sale on your website. I know the PK5501 is more difficult to program. Do you think it is worth the upgrade to either the PK5500 or the RFK5500? And there is only a $20 difference in cost for the RFK. Thanks again.
@@mrficxit1785 Hey there. I think it all depends on how comfortable you are with these keypads for whether you want to spend more for the full message KP's. If you take a look at some of the videos on this channel, like the medical monitoring one. I go through some programming so that you can get more of an idea of how they are to deal with. If you think you may want to add wireless zones to the system down the line, you may want to splurge for the RFK. Thanks, Kyle.
Great video. My dcs 1616 panel is locked however I happen to have the installer code. With that I am not able to access any setting after *8 installer code. I get the one beep. Is it possible to have 2 installer codes?
Hey there, It sounds like you have a different code, maybe the master code or a user code. These systems only have a single installer code to get into programming. Thanks, Kyle
@@SecuredSurrounding thanks Kyle. After doing some more research it seems to be a dummy installer code that doesn't allow you to change any of the programming. Now I am in the process of trying 10000 combination as the company won't provide me with the iij installer code.
@@naderwahba2536 were you able to get the installer code? Able to share?
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM THE MASTER RESET DOESNT WORK IS NOT THE 5555 INSTALLER CODE IN MY ADT DSC 1616 PANEL. ADT USE ANOTHER INSTALLER CODE IN THIS PANEL.
I need to do this course you have online classes
How do you reset night owl systems and hiseeu
Kyle, are you still in business? Your website seems to be having issues
Hi, could you make a video on how to reprogram a DSC system after a factory reset?
Hi Lucas, theres quite a bit to go through in regards to programming. I go over it in depth in the course at securedsurrounding.com. Kyle.
your video was good. unfortunately I found the DSC panels suck, not user friendly, horrible to program, keypad displays go bad, over priced. I usually tear them out and replace with a vista panel, keypads and w/l. So worth it. Sorry DSC, you still using the same unfriendly s/w from the 90's. give it up.
Good day.. I tried too many installer codes and i am in Key pad lockout active... is that lockout different from system lockout? How do I unlock keypad thanks in advance
Frantz, I am in the process of trying codes as well. Just curious how do you know that your keypad is locked out?
Thank you for the video. When I power off my dsc and then power back on the siren goes on.
My keypad is on the upstair floor. I could disconnect the siren but is this normal.
Merci thank you.
How were you able to disconnect the siren? I am having same issue. Please advise. Thanks.
@@monameghani6382 just re enter you code(4digits)
@@cp1855 thank you. Unfortunately, I don’t have that code and the default code of 1234 is not working.
