    Hi Ben. I wish to decommission my ADE Gen4 alarm system. Will disconnecting the mains power supply and removing the battery in the control box achieve this or does the bell and strobe have a separate battery that needs removing also as its difficult to access. Any advice much appreciated

    • @benjaminlibbeter
      @benjaminlibbeter  2 роки тому +2

      Hi there , yep that's correct. Just disconnect the mains supply and battery in the control panel.
      The bell box usually has a battery connected inside, which will ring the alarm when the power is lost to it.
      It should stop ringing after around 15 minutes.
      Hope this helps.

    Hello, good video.
    Is it necessary to put loops on unused zones like you have? Got a tamper lock out problem so wondering if this is causing it

    • @benjaminlibbeter
      @benjaminlibbeter  3 роки тому +2

      Hi there , thanks for the feedback.
      No, you only need to program the zones as not used - but it's good practice to fit links also.
      A tamper fault lockout is an open circuit on any of the 3 tamper loops (Keypad / Global (zones) / Bell)
      Each PIR wires with all six cores used :
      - 2 for power
      - 2 for zone
      - 2 for tamper
      The tamper of all sensors must be wired in series. This is so that there is one continuous 'loop'.
      A quick fix to resolve the issue would be to link out the following one by one until the system resets:
      - Open panel lid , fit a link between 'tamp' connections on the left hand side. Close the panel lid . If it clears it's a keypad tamper issue.
      - Open panel lid , fit a link between 'tamp' connections on the bottom. Close the panel lid. If it clears it's a global tamper issue (PIR , door contacts , PA Buttons etc)
      - Open panel lid , fit a link between 'T' and 'A' on the bottom right side. Close the panel lid. If it clears it's a bell tamper issue (external sounder).
      Hope this helps , if you need anymore guidance don't hesitate to contact me 👍🏻

    I've got a tamp lockout I think it's due to the phone line being cut. How do I remove the communicator circuit?

    • @benjaminlibbeter
      @benjaminlibbeter  6 років тому

      Jack 1 Hi there, to remove the communicator circuit, you will have to remove the cabling from the top connections on the board.
      As for the tamper lockout issue, this isn't related to the communicator inputs so the issue is at the 'tamper' and 'SCB' inputs. To narrow down the issue, try to loop these connections individually, and then you can identify the scource of the problem.
      Hope this helps, feel free to contact me if this doesn't resolve the issue. 👍

      Hi there , this is due to the battery in the panel not holding its charge.
      The replacement battery is a 12v 2.1ah sealed lead acid battery.
      To replace it:
      - Remove front cover of the panel
      - Silence alarm by entering user code
      - Discount the old battery
      - Replace with the new one (red to red, black to black)

    • @mrsecurity
      @mrsecurity 3 роки тому

      first of all, the panel has 8 zones and each zone has been pre-programmed, this can be changed by entering engineers mode, then go to 'zone names' and you can change the zone names as desired. you need to figure out which zones go to what sensor
      once you have configured the zone names, if the setting fault still occurs, check what sensor is causing the fault and see if there is any obviouse problems (loose connections etc.)

    Thanks for the video. As soon as I opened the control panel the tamper alarm started beeping and I didnt have the code. I tried removing the fuse and the battery but unfortunately the external siren went off! I struggled to turn it off, even tried turning the main power off! It finally stopped when I reconnected the battery but the strobe light is still on. Any suggestions?

    • @benjaminlibbeter
      @benjaminlibbeter  4 роки тому +2

      Hi there , in hindsight should have began the video with the panel shut , as you state removing the lid does indeed activate the tamper alarm. At the end of the procedure listed below , you will have a 0123 default user code which you can use to silence the alarm and a 9999 engineer code.
      During this procedure the alarm will activate at specific times and will be sounding , but I will list them below so you can be prepared 👍
      Here's the full procedure listed below:
      - Switch off mains from fused spur
      - Remove panel lid (internal sounder will activate)
      - Disconnect battery in panel (external bell box will sound)
      - Take wires out of "TAMP" connections
      - Fit a wire link between left hand "TAMP" connection and "SET" on the right hand side
      - Restore mains supply from spur
      - wait for alarm to sound
      - Switch off mains supply ( external sounder will re activate)
      - Remove link & restore "TAMP" wiring
      - Switch on mains supply from spur & connect battery
      - Close panel lid
      - Type in 0123 to silence the alarm
      - At the end of the video I walk through the procedure to edit the codes
      Hope this helps , don't hesitate to ask for more assistance if necessary 👍

      @@benjaminlibbeter awesome, thank you for the detailed steps! Another question, is the external siren entirely battery operated? I may just disconnect before trying the steps.

    • @benjaminlibbeter
      @benjaminlibbeter  4 роки тому +1

      @@user-xm1pp8nc8cNo problem. No , the external siren is wired and receives a 24/7 12 volt supply from the alarm panel. In the event that the control panel is powered down it will then ring on it's own battery for up to 15 minutes until power is restored again. This is a tamper protection feature.
      If you can safely get to the bell box , then you can disconnect the siren wires inside but this will activate the internal alarm for 15 minutes - however you can power down the panel after and that will silence it for good. - Then you can carry out the required steps
      Unfortunately, disconnecting the bell box from the panel end will just simulate a tamper condition and it will activate on it's own pack.

      @user-xm1pp8nc8c 4 роки тому

      @@benjaminlibbeter Thanks, given I already have a separate nest alarm and cameras I'm tempted just to disable this one completely. Would the easiest way to achieve that be to remove the fuse and battery from the control panel and allow the external siren battery to die after ringing for 15 minutes?

    Hi! We followed your instructions on screen to change engineer code but keep getting ‘Tamper fault lockout’ now unable to set the alarm, any idea how we can get rid of this fault? Or how we can reset the alarm again to get it working? Thanks for your help!!!

    • @benjaminlibbeter
      @benjaminlibbeter  4 роки тому +1

      Hi there, that indicates that there is a tamper condition somewhere on the system.
      The first step you can take is to make sure that the lids on all the PIRs are firmly shut and check that the door contacts are in good condition.
      If everything seems okay , you can open the control panel and loop the following to bypass the tamper and return the panel to normal.
      - Try linking the two terminals labelled 'tamper' on the left hand side of the board with a piece of wire, close the panel lid. If it clears it was a Keypad tamper fault.
      - Try linking the two terminals marked 'tamper' at the bottom of the board, close the panel lid. If it clears it was a global tamper fault (system detection zones - PIR's door contacts , PA buttons etc).
      -Try linking 'T' & 'A' on the bottom right side of the board , close the panel. If it clears it was an external bell box tamper.
      If the screen changes to ''engineer restore required' enter 9999 and it should clear , as I believe you have now reset the engineer code back to default.
      Hope this helps! , if you need anymore guidance don't hesitate to contact me 🙂.

      Hi there , If it says 'Tamper Fault Lockout' , that means that a Tamper condition is still present on the system. It could either be a cover on a PIR movement sensor, cover on the panel, or lid on the bell box. Investigate each of these components, if everything seems fine then it's possibly wiring fault somewhere so it's easier to just link the Tamper connections at the panel 👍. If the fault is cleared then the system will automatically reset 👍.

    • @benjaminlibbeter
      @benjaminlibbeter  5 років тому

      If there wasn't a Tamper condition before then it would be because of the wrong order of cabling going into the 'Tamper' connections, if a loop isn't present then it will flag up.

      As for replacing the PIR:
