Thank you for this amazing video. Me and my family are moving soon; were getting an 26ft penske truck too. And we learned a lot from this video thank you.
Nice! I have a newer video as well, featuring a newer truck. Glad you found this video helpful for your move!
I love the internationals from Penske specially with the lift gate, with the desiel engine and desiel engines have more power than gas.if I'm moving to house to house I'm renting a Penske truck
The ones woth the lifts are hard to come by because they are a part of the commercial fleet rather than the residential fleet. Thanks for watching!
1 of new kids they brought in from washing and fuel trucks stripped oil pan bolts on one of these when he was training to work inside as tech..Customer was driving it next day and all 30 quarts of oil leaked out. They had tow the truck to shop and put new oil pan on while customer had wait (maybe at motel) since it was loaded
Surprised that didn't ruin the engine! This truck had a crazy bad shutter between 40-50mph that was scary. The whole truck vibrated profusely.
if just been serviced might not got all air out when they changed fuel filter
Is this truck hood for over the road use im thinking about buying one
Thanks brother
Do most of the Penske international diesels have hydraulic brakes? Do any of them have air brakes?
Jon Parker Most of there International trucks use hydraulic disc brakes. All there 26ft International trucks with a lift gate will have air brakes. So if you want one with air brakes, be sure to request a truck with a lift gate. They do cost a bit more to rent. I am not sure about there newest International trucks that have the Cummins Engines, they might have a higher chance of having air brakes.
crazyjdkid I’m almost positive I’ve answered this question elsewhere, but just to tie this one up, by oh say, 2016, all trucks were coming with air. The 22 foot trucks were the last to be replaced, also due to the TerraStar being in the fleet, not having an air spec available. At the moment, it is safe to say, unless you are stuck with an off lease truck, no rental truck on a Freightliner, International, or 26 foot Hino chassis, will have hydraulic brakes or spring suspension.
I’m thinking about buying this truck for over the road use is it good?
Yes they’re good engine if it’s a DT466 engine they’re pretty good I have one 2014 maxxforce dura star no problem at all but check well the vin number if the last 8 start with letter EL you hit a jackpot 🎰 but if it doesn’t has it so it’s the maxxforce 7 engine is sucks
I work for them and now all new international trucks are coming with the 6.7 Cummins like the freightliner's have. But honestly I'm not too fond of either especially the international. Honestly the Hino trucks they have run the best don't have too many problems and despite having less h.p. than the 6.7 235 vs the cummins 270 get up and go better and don't bog down as bad on hills.
bassman34516 I would really like to try and get a Hint to use. It seems as though I always get the Internationals. Thanks for watching!
I remember getting the press release about the order from Hino, and there was a rush on Hino’s when they were selling like hot cakes, now they’re nowhere to be found. The new Freightliner’s with the Detroits are the best running in the non commercial fleet. We had a run to get two 26’s, an international flatbed with the 6.7 ISB, and me in a Freightliner 26 box with the 5.1L I-4 DD5. Climbing a large hill on the turnpike, he was slowing to about 35 up the hill, i got tired of waiting, went around to pass, and got up to 70 climbing that same hill. Those Detroits have a crapload of power. As far as Driving, as slow as they are, i’d say the Internationals drive the smoothest. The shifting can be irritating, depending on the transmission, but they are smooth and quiet, the drivers seat is my favourite out of the three.
And how did you manage to convince a Hino to climb a hill? On the back of a Peterbilt wrecker?
most 926 long numbers are non cdl or tow dolly...other trucks have 6 numbers for unit number
Yep, this truck is no doubt below CDL. I do have a much better Ryder truck on my channel that is CDL rated. Wish Penske would loan me a few to due reviews on. It seems they give me the trucks they are about to retire.
think the 2017 start with #1 for cdl don;t know about others (1 way) if they changed but hyd. brakes are non-cdl unless isuzu
Most trucks follow the reasonable 912/916/922/926 formula. However the 26’s are now alternating between 926 numbers and off the wall strange numbers. We just got in a new MV, non CDL, number 336262. New MV reefer, non CDL, 336262. I don’t know if 336 is a new series for the MV’s, i drove a new Freightliner with the DD5, 236653. After you see a few of them, you notice patterns, but the non 9 numbers are usually abnormal series, such as the 26’s, reefers, flatbeds, and vans. They do not necessarily have to have abnormal numbers, some have 9 series numbers, but they are the only ones that may. As well, the new 16 foot GM’s have outgrown their 6 digit unit number series, actually drove 916001 (or 0001, whatever) the other day. The 16’s are keeping their 916 numbers, but are now 7 digits.
I got to start one of these bad boys last year.
Cool! It feels weird cranking up that much power!
+crazyjdkid Yep. The one I started didn't have air brakes either. Too bad these don't have the electric parking brake that the hydraulic brake IC CEs have.
The newer ones have air brakes. So they don't have many hydraulic ones left. Thank goodness. You can expect to see another one of these videos early October. Unsure of exactly what truck it will be International, Freightliner or Hino.
+crazyjdkid You should probably go for a truck with a Cummins. I love the ISB for its reliability, power, and fuel efficiency. Not to mention the bus I ride to/from school has that engine.
I don't necessarily get to pick. But I feel as though it will be a newer International with a Cummins or a Freightliner. It will have a lift gate, most of there lift trucks are air brakes.
ghats a beast !!!!!
The beast is fun to drive! Thanks for watching!
Do you need a CDL to Drive a International Durastar?
Some of them you do and some of them you don't. Depends on what the trucks weight ratings are. Thanks for watching!
crazyjdkid No Problem
I drive one of these for a living. mine has a reefer and air brakes. it is a bit heavier than this one. the truck has a fuck ton of torque for hauling ass around town even when your loaded but absolutely no horsepower for highway driving.
This truck was had no power for driving at all lol! It was a low power spec, and when compared to the Freightliner it couldn't touch it. Thanks for watching!
nice. :) what do u use them 4??
Thanks! I use them for a number of things! The bulk usage of this one was to make videos of!
crazyjdkid
ur welcome. :) do they make smaller 1's 2?
Who International or Penske?
crazyjdkid both.
This is the biggest one Penske would give me as a Residential Operator. Penske has a 12ft, 16ft ,22ft and a 26ft. This is the 26 foot. If you are using it Commercially they will give you anything from a 12ft to an 18 wheeler/tractor trailer even a big flat bed. Its really whatever you need. I work for a company and we use there trucks as well, we lease them. The Durastar is the smallest truck International makes. They used to make a Terrastar and a MXT that was smaller. International Trucks is the same as IH Tractors. They just don't include the "Harvester" part of International Harvester. Here is there website www.internationaltrucks.com/
And what do you mean this is your last video? Did you get the CDL? Or are you done driving trucks?
Last video featuring this truck, I will never stop making videos!
+crazyjdkid Oh sorry I was confused, I watched this before I watched the other videos LOL
Oh no problem! Be sure to check those out in your spare time!
+crazyjdkid I watched your nighttime one.. You were very easy with it through the hood, but that's probably just because you didn't want to wake the neighbors up lol
+Jerry Sylvester yeah it was already pretty late and I didn't want the engine fan screaming to life as I was driving through there. The other video the running late one is another story, I juiced her through most the video.
Can you try to get a Freightliner or Hino with Airbrakes and a badass engine and review them?
I'll be honest with you man! This channel has an operating budget, for big cool things like this. You all indirectly paid for this truck by watching my videos. I would love to rent a whole bunch of different brands of trucks to compare them all. I get a discounted rate on these trucks, but it is still very expensive because you have to pay by the mile, the day, insurance and for the diesel (fuel much of this I cover myself). These are honestly my favorite video series to make, because I get to share the "fun" with everyone and take there requests. My point is, as much as I would want to go rent another one of these and hope that I get a different brand, the channel simply cannot afford it right now. Now that's not to say I might need one out of necessity in the near future, but odds of that are slim. Next time I do get one, you can guarantee that I will record it and try to get a different truck combo! The best thing you can do to expedite another review like this is to watch my videos.(Or try to convince Penske to let me have one free for the day!LOL)! But I appreciate you watching and will try my best to get another truck review in the future!
rent the Hino and see how the Toyota 6 cylinder does
Since when do the Hinos have badass engines? They are ungodly slow, and can’t climb a hill doing over 50, empty.
can you take cdl b test with this
+plot stoppa No, you cannot. It's not over 26,000lbs
crazyjdkid oh okay
Technically no, I would ask the specific DMV examiner, since as of this writing, the class C and class B 26 foot trucks are absolutely identical, they may overlook the technicality of registered weight. I wouldn’t count on it.
She looks good for a 2014!
Its crazy this thing has gone 123,000 miles in 2 years and still looks good, especially the interior!
+crazyjdkid I'm surprised it still sounds like it's new... I know for a fact there are those people that beat the shit out of it
I tell you what she was screaming doing 74mph. This truck had just done a 2000 mile trip before I got it the day after, part of it was through the Rockies. Its hard treat a truck nice when the only throttle positions are 0 and 100.
Rode hard and put away wet is the proper term!
+crazyjdkid We run IC in my district, some of the drivers put their foot down on it, I hate that. I don't know why, but I just do. You don't really get anywhere faster from putting it to the floor, all it does is kill the engine imo.
I use my truck everyday. I wouldn't even think about buying one without E track.
To each his own! I found that the non etrak stuff was far cheaper and easier to use.
@@crazyjdkid those wood strips are garbage. Takes much longer to tie anything down and then stuff slides. E track is much faster and it securely locks in place. Really not even close in comparison.
@@bestprice1776 My experience has been the complete opposite, but it is really dependent on application.
hey would i be able to work this
in cali
with the carb
It is illegal to retread steers, so no, not retreaded. You will not find anyone who will retread or install retreaded tires on steer rims since it may carry prison time. FMCSR Title 49, Part 393.75 (d)(e)
It is not illegal to use retreads on the steer axle. Section (d) says it's illegal on the steer axle of buses. And section (e) gives you a max weight rating for the retread tires used on the steer. But I would agree that it is not advisable.
That truck can go like 500-600 miles on that tank lmao.
Bad review/reviewer
Any specific reason?
@@crazyjdkid
Don't listen to him great review just another negative spirit talking without any justification
Thanks!
