I always use Penske for moving. Especially for longer trips. Their trucks are far superior to other moving truck rentals.

It is even more important for people who don't use air brakes often / at all to know what they are, how they work, and why those gauges are so important. This style was used since 2001, and the only major revision was in 2018 for the 2019 MV series that replaced the Durastar series, but they're both the same truck nonetheless

That first button you said was cargo lights is your lamp test for a pre trip.
You should use U-Haul they make your move a lot easier

Do most 22 foot trucks have air brakes and air ride? What about 26 foot trucks? I can make either truck work but I want to be almost guaranteed to have airbrakes. Thanks
Yeah most of the 22 and 26 have air ride and air brakes. There are a few ford gas trucks running around. It’s almost guaranteed you will get one.
You have to have a Key Switch on For Air Horn. The Switch On Left Side For Lamp Check

Newer Durastars have the 6.7 ISB, usually with air ride seat, all with air brakes. The Lamp light to the left of the wheel is your lamp check, cycles through all lamps on the outside of the vehicle so the driver can check them himself. The work light button to the right of the wheel are the overhead lights in the cargo box (roof is fibreglass)

#1 air tank is the rear brakes, #2 is the front.

The DEF tank is on the passenger side...that’s inconvenient and just stupid
I work for Penske Truck Leasing as a diesel technician the top gauge is your primary air pressure and the bottom Gage is your secondary air pressure the top Gage not your front brakes in the bottom Gage not your rear brakes at Birth Control the same thing

As long is the vehicle is under 26k GVW you do not need a CDL to operate it.
if it has air brakes yes you do need a CDL, under 26,001 it would be class C

A. No. You do not need a CDL. You also do not need an air brake endorsement. For some bizarre reason, an air brake endorsement only applies to CDL drivers - an F750 equipped with air brakes and grossing at 26,000 lbs or less does not require a CDL or air brake permissions.

luis berrios pretty sure you can rent one for any reason you want. However, given your comment was made 8 months ago it’s probably a safe bet you got your CDL’s by now. Congrats
Yes, but you'll have to use their CDL trucks (which weigh 33,000 pounds) so you'll need to find someone who is over 21 and has either A CDL Class A or CDL Class B with no Air Brake restrictions because Penske cannot rent to you unless you're properly licensed .

Penske does not maintain their trucks. I know a guy that was renting a Penske Class 8 tandem axle tractor unit. The tires were completely bald and Penske refused to replace the tires so this guy had to buy tires for the truck. WHY THE HELL IS THE DEF TANK ON THE RIGHT SIDE!

Penske makes it a lot harder with U-Haul you can get it done a lot easier without the stress Penske sucks
