Wait until you become depressed as absurdist When the whole world becomes so painful to the point you can't become anything anymore Then the question will be answered: "Oh thats why " It's like taking drugs It's so much fun until a certain point Then you start wishing if you could go back in time but you can't I feel like I'm talking to myself... Please if anyone who have the idea to start living that way please don't Even if you managed to survive that pain , your life will NEVER be the same And that moment of "oh a cute duck" will never return And not a single suicide prevention post will come across become useless because you already know everything there , because your entire life was "why not?" So you when they everything they say about loving to live become meaningless I don't even wanna think more about the past
Also if you are in some sort of these things I was talking about Try to sleep a lot And try to get together things you currently have as much as you can and start again from that point For example family and good friends if you have any and all sort of other things meaningful things It might be cold in the beginning but you will get used to it in a while And most importantly stay alive please 🙏
All if you are a man don't be afraid to cry a lot whenever alone to let it go You might get your hands shaking so much but it will be fine And you will have learned a lot from that experience and become a lot knowledgeable
Just 'cuz to both of them. Reason isn't always needed, and if you want to go that route here are some rest stops: who said the universe had a beginning, it may not exist! How can you prove that reality is real, it's impossible by definition, we expect it, but that statement is immeasurable, just like with the tree that fell and no one hears, did it make a sound. How about CGI(CGV) does it exist, is it also part of reality, how about the concept of "2" does it live somewhere.

Commenting on a video, presumably watching it, and literally not learning anything from it. Absurdism is realising that you could have an existential crisis and deciding to have a walk in the park, because its a nice day, because its a nice day to take a walk in the park, and for no. other. reason.
@@mohammedjafer9265 Nature provides us lessons everyday, experience is when we have learned a good proportion of those lessons. The lesson of existential crises is resolved by realising there is no god, nothing we do matters except for the here and now. Nihilism is what’s the point. Absurdism is eh, I’ll just have a good day, and let tomorrow worry about itself. Im sure it’s not coincidence that post enlightenment has come up with absurdism, the classical world came up with stoicism, and the eastern world came up with Buddhism, all answering the question in the same way. I’m sure the same answer is found in other cultures as well.
It is so comforting to know other people think to the depths of reality like this. It eases my existential anxiety to know I am not alone and not going crazy.
This. In addition to constantly thinking " am I the only real one here?" Because nobody else seems to question things the same way. But they do, as this comment section proves haha

I'm 42, have terminal cancer. My life will get worse until I die. That means that now is the best period of the rest of my life. So I enjoy the hell out of it. I love the concept of Absurdism, it's about accepting and living strong. I get the life I get, it would be a shame not enjoining it until the end.
This is actually a quote adapted from JJ Van Der Leeuw- The Conquest Of Illusion, published 1928. Herbert borrowed a lot of context to build his world.
I discovered your videos in the summer of 2021. I was in a crisis, had fallen out with my whole family and was sleeping on the streets. The few nights I found a sofa to crash on for the night, I would watch your videos and listen to your stories as I fell asleep. They would inspire me, distract me and bring me happiness in the darkest time of my life. Now, I have my own house I share with my girlfriend, our baby son and I'm over 500 days clean and sober and I've wanted to comment something on a video of yours for a while now just to thank you for being a positive force in my life when I needed one the most, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing what you do.
Yes! Thank you Viktorianas. Combine those two, absurdism and stoicism, and then one can drop the suicidal thoughts of nihilism. And mentioning suicide reminded me of Fredrick Nietzsche, saying something like “contemplating suicide has helped me make it through many a night.” Thank you again!!!
In the end, I came to understand that whatever we may see as true is just that to our perception and nothing more, including our thoughts. Nihilism was the view I've naturally been following since early school. In the end, everything is valid and stupid, clever and clouded - logical just as much as as it is pointless. A person who lies may speak the truth in the right ear, the most common knowledge may just be a misinterpretation since generations... I don't care anymore. Bye.
But that response would only be relevant to that of existentialist nihilism which is unfortunately what is being used as a generalization in this video. Also you’d have to have a voided belief or something other than hard determinism otherwise it wouldn’t be a true philosophical viewpoint. Absurdism is really just a conscious avoidance of reality. It’s not a decision and it’s not a belief because how can some of an opposing standpoint come from the opposite and original conclusion. If you have acknowledged nihilism as a reality, which ties into determinism, then absurdism really cannot exist. It’s completely illogical and in itself a paradox

...and mastering fear is to embrace insanity... and that it is okay. The profoundly stable people do this. In the psychiatric field they will only diagnose something if it a problem. No problem and you "don't have it", even though it is still there. Knowing this simple concept can help a lot.
I would just like to say that this video is the exact length of time that it took me to open and peel two pomegranates, and having watched this I now have a Tupperware full of pomegranate seeds and a slightly more hopeful outlook on life! Thank you x
In this time I ate two fried eggs, two rashers of air-fried middle-back bacon, and drank a cup of (Yorkshire) tea. For I am ~~Welsh~~ English, you know, good countryman.
“It isn’t meaningless that hurts, it’s the contradiction of needing meaning and not getting it” *image of a sad pug in a rainstorm, definitely thinking that exact thought*
If life had a meaning it would mean that man has no choice. If it was a ready-made thing. This is also the reason nobody is born religious or born into a religion, because that would take away the possibility of conversion, you can not convert from a male to female and vice versa. You can try, but your biological gender will always be there. The fact that you can convert from a religion to another is proof that nobody is born into a religion. If life had a meaning it would take away the possibility of any other meaning. The fact that life is meaningless is a possibility for you to create any meaning, it gives you a choice. What was the reason to do anything if life had a set goal to be achieved? The only set goal is the grave. Because the moment you are born is the moment you start dying.
I don't understand people that need meaning or can't find purpose, authorities are literally militarized against the disabled, having us abused under the guise of help, if you see nothing wrong with that, then yeah, keep acting as if you need meaning or purpose in life, doing nothing to stop abuse in your family and community, never mind the websites and facilities.
I come back to this video every now and again when I feel as though life is just sorta getting the better of me or someone close to me. And it never fails to hit home that Albert Camus (along with exurb1a) found such the right words to explain how people behave and act in the now. And that we seemingly can’t help it. The pursuit of answers, going for a beer, doing the dishes, watching puffins. All of life is itself saying “fuck it we ball” and just living. Such a great philosophy and video.
"I won't just gaze into the abyss, I'll maintain uncomfortable eye contact with it." Ultimately, all we need to realize is that the abyss suffers from severe social anxiety.
Well , I believe that you should do what this universe tells you to do , meaning what Mother Nature tells you to do , nature tells you to breathe so breathe , nature tells you to sleep when sleepy then sleep , nature tells you to bang when horny , then do so without questioning nature/universe . Do what Mother Nature(that is the universe ) commands you to do without thinking too much or else at the end you will regret everything you did in the past.
I love how absurdism, the thing that answers the question to the meaning of life with "it just is, or isn't, depending on what you think, but in the end it doesn't matter because it just is" is the perfect match for the most anxious, troubled, melancholic, in search for THE REAL answers people on earth (or wherever else)
i think "living in a paradox but still doing the dishes" might be one of my favourite ways to describe a philosophical theory. thank you for being better than my philosophy teacher
I was doing the dishes when I watched this. There is that scene in Mindhunter (Unibomber) when the agent is sitting at the red light in the early hours of the morning waiting for it to go green and there is literally no one around... just sitting there... following the rules. We just do... thinking independently is tiring.
“Who can be sure? Not us.” This is something that I think far too many people lose sight of. So many people are far too sure of themselves and their place in the universe.

My personal take on absurdism is this: we, as a sentient species, are the eyes and the ears of the universe. We are the universe watching itself. Every time I observe something, especially something with no one else present to witness it, is a precise moment of perspective in space and time that would've otherwise gone wasted if not for me. It doesn't matter whether I fully grasp what I saw or not, I derive a great degree of satisfaction from this sense of self-awareness regardless. This is what makes life worth living to me, and I'm going to keep doing it until the day I die, because the alternative is to experience nothing, and that's boring as shit.
Thank you for writing this. I akways say "I wish you could've seen it" to people after witnessing a particularly stunning work of nature. But I dont think thats necessary anymore. I need not ponder over what might have been if they had seen it. The sight is not important because it is shared. The sight is important because it is seen at all.

@@tolvajakos Exurb1a has become my favorite UA-camr. every video he puts out has some profound thought provoking quote that I would've never thought off
Absurdism is one of those philosophies I stumbled into myself during self exploration, or rather a nihilistic version of it. I was suicidal, lost, fraying at the edges, losing my sense of self and locked up in a mental ward for being depressed. I looked inward during that time and came up with many of the conclusions that form absurdism, but also nihilism. Nothing mattered I concluded. Nothing has a deeper meaning. Yet if nothing matters then that means the meaning is that which I give it. So should I not smile and give meaning to the pleasures of life? I don't need a deeper purpose to laugh, to sing, to dance, or to smile. Instead I can assign meaning those things, the meaning of enjoying this existence, because this is a rather fun ride we're on. The conclusion that nothing had meaning lead me to nihilism, but that it didn't need meaning lead me to absurdism. The fun was in granting it meaning. If my life had no meaning than I shall rebel by giving it meaning, and that meaning was to see just how much I could relish in it all. Without meaning there was freedom to paint the world around me in my own meaning. To see the wonders of the world without worrying about them. Have you ever sat down and wrote an 80 page essay on a single class of item a table top roleplaying game? I have, then I decided it needed to be much much longer as I didn't write enough, I expect when I'm done it'll be 200 or more pages. So much work put into something that doesn't matter some would say, but if nothing matters then everything is equally deserving of your efforts. Put those efforts into where you find love and joy. Cherish the now, laugh at the awful, mock the lovely. Challenge it all to spark your interest enough to give it meaning. And then, snatch it away just to give it a new meaning. The world is empty, so rather than cry about it we should fill it with our own meaning. Kindness for its own sake, joy just to be happy, and sorrow to remind us why we laugh. Give your everything to everything, because there's no value to keeping it to yourself. Or don't. It doesn't matter either way. And that's OK. It doesn't need to matter. It exists regardless, and that's just wonderful. So when you ask "why?" You are granting meaning to that answer, so might as well go find it, after all, something with meaning is exceptional when nothing is meaningful. Just because it isn't important, doesn't mean you can't care about it.
one of my favourite quotes of Albert Camus is: "You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life." his books really helped me find peace in suffering.
i know you probably won’t see this, but this video genuinely helped me so much so i just wanted to say thank you for making it. ive been experiencing a bit of an existential crisis these past few weeks (the college application process lead me to ruminate over the fact that i don’t really know what i want because i don’t know if “wanting” is something that actually comes from myself, if that makes sense 😅), and it seems like every time i try to cheer myself up i end up feeling like i’m clouding my judgement, like happiness is some shallow thing. i was desperately searching for something that would give me permission to feel better without obsessing over the possibility that it’s pointless. after watching this video i literally started giddily giggling 😹 to myself because for the first time in a while i felt free of that nihilistic dread. im excited to continue to learn more about life while treasuring the silly moments that make me smile. thank you! sorry about my grammar i should probably take a nap

Absurdism reminds me of "the cosmic joke" which is essentially a spiritual phenomenon in deep meditation where someone is overtaken by uncontrollable laughter. It's like when you're told a joke and no one gets it except that 1 person in the crowd.
The universe is indeed comic, but the joke is on mankind -Lovecraft. And I agree, yes this is all a joke, but once you are done laughing you start to figure out that the joke isn't funny. It's twisted and sick and awkward and most things about life are just sad.

Thank you so fucking much for making this, it has saved me from so many nights of feeling shitty and hopeless and sad. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much.
Absurdism is the answer I’ve been wanting for years, it makes me feel happy (since hope doesn’t exist) that I can just enjoy my little fruit strips as I exist in the infinite void of everything.
I’ve always treated life as a play, being performed to an empty theater. As long as I keep giving a performance I’m winning in a way. I’d demonstrate I never needed an audience in the first place, rather this performance is for me and the other members of the play. Also the hell I’m gonna be beaten by a bunch of empty chairs.
If you are reading this...run!! You are living in the Truman show, *we are watching* literally every move you take, *RUN* is not empty chairs, we are watching, you are performing a play for us!!
Absurdism is the word for what I’ve been experiencing the past couple of years, I just realized! I always like to tell myself “in a world as nihilistic as it is, sometimes all you can do is laugh and find your own meaning” and it’s quite comforting. (Side note, hope everyone’s Sunday is going swell 💙)
Sunday is going well :) I do want to say that "making your own meaning" is really not how I read absurdism, even though I used to for a time. To me, absurdism is laughing *without* making your own meaning, enjoying life without oversimplifying it into a moral code, out of a recognition that no such moral code will satisfy your will for absolute truth.
Yeah, if nihilism is an understanding of meaninglessness I think absurdism is kind of a 'fuck it then, the struggle to live in a meaningless world is itself meaningful and worthwhile' response. One must imagine Sisyphus happy for the struggle alone is enough to fill a man's heart.
Thanks turtle, you are the content creator equivalent to sitting on a bench and the sun breaking through the clouds on a rough day, it doesn't fix everything but it soothes the itch in the back of my mind for a while. Keep doing what you do man!

it’s actually insane how accurately you managed to put into words the exact same “chill down my spine” unnerving feeling i get when i consider the whole nothing/infinity thing regarding the first cause. it’s the closest to a lovecraftian concept i can experience. a literal void in the middle of philosophy and when you have a full intuitive grasp of that concept you’re forced to confront that right now, at this present moment, you’re only existing and consciously thinking about this very concept because of one of two impossible possibilities that *must* be true
Love the way of phrasing that "you're forced to confront that right now". Because that's always exactly what it feels like when I think about that very subject. I can always, almost literally, feel an internal battle in my mind where one side is trying so hard to understand the concept, while the other is trying to scurry away from the subject, to think about easier things instead.

Thanks for this video, it has had a profound impact on me. I come back to it once every few months. Since I first saw it I’ve read most of Camus’ works as well as Lansing’s book on the Endurance and Ernest Shackleton’s expedition.
You don’t now how happy this video made me. Right now I’m really struggling with finding a reason in my life. I turned 20 yesterday and I feel real lost in this world. Right now I’m doing a exchange year in Colombia and I’m from Germany. Learning Spanish in a small town in Colombia is crazy and meaningless at the same time. The last few months far from home totally alone with only a few new friends I started to realize that actually maybe nothing Mathers but being alive. Like living in the moment and enjoying als this absurdism. Realizing that I’m not the only lost Wanderer in this world makes me really happy and I am really excited to look further into your book as well in Alberts work. Thank you for your work you just made my life a bit meaninglessly meaningful :)
Another response to all of this is, “I have no idea what’s going on and I have no desire to know. Just because it makes the most intuitive sense, I’ll be kind, generous, and enjoy consciousness as much as possible.”
I was extremely young when I had my first existential crisis, I’m talking 7 or 8 years old. It made me feel weird about “why/how do I exist, is my body me or is my mind me?” But luckily because I was so young it evolved into absurdism, not nihilism. When I was a teenager I couldn’t understand why people felt life had no meaning or purpose, and now that I’m older nihilism feels like giving up on FINDING your own personal meaning and purpose. I’m glad I came across this video, I thought I was just a weirdo for being like this.
Same here! When I was 8 also weirdly. I would all the sudden out of nowhere just think “I’m me” and it was the coolest/ weirdest/unanswerable thing, just thinking “how did I get so lucky to have this consciousness (me) to myself, where did this come from, why don’t other ppl ask and talk about this all the time???” And I still get this feeling at age 38. And I remember trying to explain this ‘epiphany’ or whatever you call it to my 6 year old sister, who didn’t get it despite me explaining the best I could lol
You guys are lucky to have gained consciousness at such a young age. I’m 20 and the last 3 years have been terrifying for me! Only just now have I found the answer.
It’s crazy right? I first became self aware when I was 5, I was looking at my tiny baby hands and asking why my hands are smaller than everyone else’s. My first existential crisis was when I was 8, I was sitting in class and I started thinking about space and how vast it is that my smooth brain broke. I immediately went to, “why even bother if I’m so small?”
Same, same. I didnt think other people saw life like this. Glad I know. Makes this whole mess that is life a tad bit more interesting and less lonely. I dont remember when I first had this thought, i just always remembered who I was and am as someone who questioned life, exintence and everything related to why. Its pretty fun when you look at it really. What are the chances things turned out like this. And the fact that you drink recycled t-rex pee on a daily basis - whats up with that - huh? Man life is chaotic and beautiful. No other way to describe it really.
For years I was thinking along the the exact idea of absurdism but didn’t realize that it was an established mentality to have. Knowing that I’m not the only one out there that thinks like that makes this one of the most reassuring and impactful videos I’ve ever watched 💯 thanks bro.
Same, altough I expected it to be an already existing concept, since I came to this conclusion and I'm not really too smart. In the end it's either believing in something or not believing in something, and if you don't believe in anything then life doesn't have any sense and you can kill yourself/live in constant misery, or life doesn't have any sense and who cares? Just do what you want to do and make your own goals. Didn't Nietzsche write a book about this?
I am two weeks short of being 77 years old, and this is the best damn 11 minutes and 21 seconds that I’ve seen and listened to in my whole life. Combine those two, absurdism and stoicism, and then one can drop the suicidal thoughts of nihilism. And mentioning suicide reminded me of Fredrick Nietzsche, saying something like “contemplating suicide has helped me make it through many a night.” Thank you exurb1a.
You are in charge. Check out The Buddha who raised his soul by his soul. The West is still trying to rebel against its primitive God complex of sin, guilt Judgement and Salvation from on high. What one wants to say to western philosophy (and religion) is "Please grow up!"
yo if your profile picture is up to date you don't even remotely look 77. more like healthy 55 lol. Unlucky you, seems like you'll have to endure this planet well into your 100s 😂
I always go back to Emil Cioran's take on suicide. First, he says if life is absurd then death is as absurd as that, and so would it be commiting suicide. But more importantly, he believes it is the most beautiful thing we have as humans, since it is a guarantee of freedom. You are able to choose a way out whenever you want. Considering suicide means you are truly free, and not taking that way out means you are making an active choice every second you are here living. And for some reason, feeling like I'm choosing to be here instead of just... being forced to... it just makes it all better in a matter of seconds. By the way, I saw you posted this two weeks ago. Happy birthday.
The only reason I’ll always struggle with the why question, is the more I think about it the more I realize how much of my life I spend doing pointless things. There’s no point in having a high paying job, huge house, fancy car (unless you want all that) like we’re told growing up. So now I’m in my mid 20’s realizing that everything I’ve been told about life is completely useless. I understand that there is a sense of freedom in this. But all the same it seems to be responsible for the hollow feeling I find attached to everything I do anymore. It’s nice to watch these videos and realize that I’m not the only one thinking about this stuff, and that there is a sense of peace that can be achieved. I hope that I, along with anyone else feeling this way, can find that peace. Thank you for making all these videos, they’ve had a profound affect on me and many others.
I'm in a similar position - mid to late 20s, worked hard toward a well paying job my whole life, but now aware it is almost certainly not the answer to "what I want in life". My answer to your concerns is that you are still very young in the grand scheme, and have plenty of opportunity to change your path and move towards whatever actually makes you happy. The reason that I still value those traditional goals is that it is much easier to change your path when have a good job and a nice house than if you are dealing with the daily struggles associated with not having those things. Remember that life is, fundamentally, not easy. Only the very lucky few get to live a carefree, happy, low-wealth life from the get-go. Use those traditional goals as a stepping stone to the actual happiness you're seeking.
and also - be completely prepared to never achieve the total freedom you would like simply because, again, life is very hard and every day that you have food and shelter is basically a statistical improbability. Instead, try to inject that freedom into your non-ideal life whenever you can. Hopefully with time, you can swing the balance where you have a lot of freedom mixed in with some bullshit, rather than the other way around.

no beginning and was infinite, all the energy in the universe would have been used up and dispersed into heat already, therefor cancelling out that theory. Since an infinite universe is not possible then we know it had a beginning, but since something can't come from nothing, the only possible explanation is a creator, aka God. The uncaused first cause. Someone or something that exists outside of our three dimensional way of thinking (4 if time is a dimension). If you pass a 3D object through a 2D world, someone in the 2D world would have no Idea how to explain it because they only exist in that dimension. If God truly is real we would never have any "reasonable" way to prove it because we are limited to our 3 dimensions. God is real, many people just don't believe it because they think they can explain everything from their perspective of reality, we as humans are just to arrogant to admit it.
Came here for one of my personal research work and leaving with so much sense and understanding regarding this. Great way of telling the points! 💯💯💯💯 Thank you so much for making it a little easy. ❤❤❤❤❤
@@MathewSteeleAtheology There is nothing more lonely than eternity. And nothing is more cozy for us than to be a human being. @@frankrunge2589 I've come to the conclusion that we must do it because we're ultimately no different than any other animal, as living beings. They do, they are, they manage. So can we, by choosing to embrace what we can't understand. We'll never know the full scope of reality, the size and extent of the cosmos. That's unavoidably true. Why should one unavoidable truth be any different than another? Life appears to have no purpose. The only thing in the way of accepting that fact in the same way that we accept any other is our need for an explanation that isn't there. Cognitive dissonance only results if we assume we have a right to know what we can't possibly learn.

It is because it is absolutely absurd. How people go about living life without a purpose makes me repulsed quite honestly. You end up chasing only your base desires. You end up a slave to the material world and the animal within you. There is no moral argument. There is nothing to work to that matters in the end. This idea that we can create our own purpose is not just absurd, it is naïve. What if two people's purposes conflict, and violently so? Who gets to decide who is right? There is no Truth, so everyone is right. From Hitler to Joe Blow. All of them found their own purpose and tried to enact it. These secular philosophies make no sense.
@@MrMineHeads. How does a lack of objective/absolute meaning prevent us from creating moral frameworks that work for us, or goals that work for us? That seems to be what's happening already, why isn't it good enough? People's purposes violently conflict, and frequently. There is no "what if" there. So when it happens... we work it out? Reach stalemate and argue about it for thousands of years? Winner takes all? These things also seem to reflect conflicting purpose throughout history. "There is no Truth, so everyone is right." - You're missing the point. There is no "right" either, beyond whatever value system we construct to suit ourselves. Life has an infinite number of meanings. If you choose not to decide on one, you still have made a choice. If you choose to use a crutch like LSD, you've chosen to hide. The meaning of that is very clear, and hopefully it won't last very long. Your excuses are your own, but more than once or twice is not for learning but cheap and dangerous escapism.

However finally I started smiling more than I ever did, because I stopped questioning the sense, the meaning, any of this, and I found inner peace in the chaos.

I hope to remember your comment the next time I see a special sunset or find a beautiful tree in the forest.
Thank you for writing this. I akways say "I wish you could've seen it" to people after witnessing a particularly stunning work of nature. But I dont think thats necessary anymore.
Just because it isn't important, doesn't mean you can't care about it.
one of my favourite quotes of Albert Camus is:
"You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of.
You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life."
his books really helped me find peace in suffering.

Its funny how that happens innit?
Same, altough I expected it to be an already existing concept, since I came to this conclusion and I'm not really too smart. In the end it's either believing in something or not believing in something, and if you don't believe in anything then life doesn't have any sense and you can kill yourself/live in constant misery, or life doesn't have any sense and who cares? Just do what you want to do and make your own goals.
Didn't Nietzsche write a book about this?
I am two weeks short of being 77 years old, and this is the best damn 11 minutes and 21 seconds that I’ve seen and listened to in my whole life.

yo if your profile picture is up to date you don't even remotely look 77. more like healthy 55 lol.

I don’t know why, but when you told the story about the explorers on elephant island, when you talked about how they stayed joyous even in the face of complete isolation and almost guaranteed death, it made me cry more than I had in a very long time. Thank you.

no beginning and was infinite, all the energy in the universe would have been used up and dispersed into heat already, therefor cancelling out that theory.

This indeed is another contradiction - how can man keep the bonds of his humanness, and still venture gladly and purposefully into the absolute loneliness of eternity? Whenever you resolve this riddle, you’ll be ready for the definitive journey.”
@@MathewSteeleAtheology Sisyphus leads straight to Buddha. We will by no means solve this riddle in a cognitive way. Only meditation will lead us into this process of 'nothingness' in eternity. And teach us happiness.
Sisyphus must be happy, yes, but if he isn't, it doesn't matter. He has no choice to be happy, for his revolt against the abyss is indifferent. So now instead of Sisyphus killing himself, he keeps living in spite, hatred for life but also same amount of love. Reality is despair but let your spite keep you alive.

While not very nice, I feel it is on brand for an exurbia video to say, you're not as unique as you think. None of us are.

By far the greatest philosopher of contemporary times, not just in ability to grasp and disseminate difficult concepts, but in making them incredibly entertaining while doing so. This is one of your best works yet.
its really comforting to know that there are other people who have also asked these questions to themselves and havent been able to find an answer
And then you start coming to terms with the fact that nothing IS the answer. Then comes existentialism and then whatever way you cope with it after that lol.

This video has helped me in ways I never imagined. Thank you for existing and sharing this with the world.
Yeah I'm very much an absurdist. I came to that conclusion by myself in a vacuum actually. Well, I mean. I was actually watching a bunch of your videos a long time ago and basically I was getting existential crisises on the daily and then I was like "why should I continue to wallow here... why don't I just do things that make me happy instead. Questioning existence makes me sad, so I'll stop that, and I'll just go play games or build a model kit." Now I know it has a name! That's cool.
More existentialism I'd say

How'd you fit into a vacuum?
@@joekreissl4499 Sans any external direction, we have not just the freedom to apply meaning, but rather freedom to invent our own meaning.

@@oscarwang7227 that's true I can't deny that. its still weird though... like when I watch a movie made by someone who was a criminal creep my watching it isn't directly funding them (since many are no longer alive or are in jail or were cut off from payments) but I feel a little guilty how much I still genuinely enjoy exurb1a's content (especially the older stuff which many years ago were such important inspirations to me they changed the direction of my life)

@@thishandleistacken But the problem is that, you can blame me or anyone for the matter of fact, on the internet, for anything. Yes you could tread back on him if all his crimes are convicted in a court or any justice body, but just because of allegations from someone who might have or have not been harassed by him, doesn't mean we need to take a Stand, for both of the sides. Absurdism is what cures my anxiety, but also brings me the feeling of nothingness.
@Seeing Star Thanks for not sending a useless link, instead I got an idea for a snack to surprise people with tomorrow.
@Pushiswin they're 🤖
As far as I can tell you think that existence can't possibly be objectively meaningless because... then it would be meaningless? Does this summarize your position correctly?
@@MrMineHeads. my current objective/meaning of life is to tell you to shut up and stop worrying about what other people consider the meaning of life and whether or not it contradicts with yours.
I like that you maintained the Balkan music in the background, to an uncomfortable loudness, and it sort of has this cumulative effect with the words where you can really feel the existential crisis of the multitude of inputs that defines life itself.

Nor does it need one...

I realized how silly life is, how meaningless and confusing it might be, which truly helped me appreciate the little things. In a weird way, confronting "the abyss" head-on has given so much more meaning to my life as an individual in a community. Whenever I feel myself self-sabotaging or doubting myself, I try to tell myself "why not?" instead of "why?"
