Thank you very much for reacting to a genre that had not passed through its channel (metal), there are certainly many bands where its singers are great performers. It is very enriching to see and hear their reactions, it is too kind a person and with a love for the music that crosses the screen. A great channel, created by a great being. I never stopped creating content, its charisma is beautiful and genuine. Waiting for definitely another metal singer 🤘🏻😊🤘🏻
That's what I do I've been going through every voice analyst and watching the reaction cuz it's always so good and I always get chills and just a good fuzzy feeling
I have the music video version on iTunes and my play count is at 624. That's not counting the times I've watched it on youtube, the reaction videos, and this live version, so my play count has to be close to a thousand of not over, and it still gives me goosebumps every time.
Someone described his voice as "chiseled marble" and yes, absolutely gives me the chills. This song has literally saved me by getting through some extremely tough nights.
I have been a disturbed fan ever since they came on the scene. I remember very clearly watching that performance live on TV. I was absolutely blown away and left in tears afterwards.
I Never get tired of listening to David sing this song. I never get tired of seeing the reactions to people hearing this for the first time. I saw this as my first version and loved it not even knowing the band. The way he puts so much emotion into the song gave me chills. Heck it still does after hear it hundreds of times!
Dude, I've loved Disturbed since I was 16 and borrowed a friend's Believe album, and it was specifically his voice that got me. I think a lot of people only know Down With the Sickness and dismiss them. This got people to really listen and understand that he is just an extremely talented vocalist.
I skipped around to several reaction videos of this song and several people were voice trainers/teachers/etc and none of them actually talked about what was going on they would just stop it to tell how they felt about it without explaining what the singer was doing. Just wanna give you a thumbs up on actually talking about the voice rather than just talking over the guy to hear your own voice. You can tell you actually care about the music more than the camera. At least that is what came across to me.
I've never been a huge Disturbed fan. I've never hated them, but I just don't listen to much metal. This is absolutely amazing. Respect. Best voice I've heard in a long time.
If his flu is contained mostly in his head and he sings from his diaphragm like well trained singers are supposed to most people wouldn't hear it. I didn't know he was sick and I was about to comment about how he sounds like he's singing through his nose. A good vocal coach should have heard it too.
Well done to you too, Master of Voice. I appreciate your ability to restrain from interrupting the song too many times while sounding off your reactions to the performance.. Unlike many others reactions :)
💜💜💜 OMG! Thank you Andy! One of my all time favourite songs! I was a big fan of Simon & Garfunkel back in the day; this was my favourite so I kind of expected not to like this very much. 2 jaw dropping minutes later I was hooked! David's voice ... what can I say? If S&G's song was a sorrow song for the state of the world back then, this is more like a scream of rage for the state of the world today!!!!!!!!!!!! While I do like this, live version, please listen and watch it with the original video. Its awesome... the stark black and white images of the 2 'tribes' on opposite sides of the water; the subliminal text with the music page; the lighting on David's face. It's spine-chilling message... we humans didn't listen to the warnings back then, and we're still not listening to them today! Heart-breakingly beautiful! Again, thank you Andy. 💓💓💓
The Paul Simon lyric is a piece of genius if you read as a poem, and the live orchestration here, and the kettle drums emphasis, that piano and strings and the whole outro frames the song, obviously Draiman was beyond incredible. as good a TV music performance as I've ever heard. From a male vocalist, totally different range and style, this like is a tie with Bobby Hatfield [Righteous Brothers] live solo of Unchained Melody on Andy Williams Show, for my favourite male singing performance...
Their version of this song I feel is fitting for the times. Just like Simon and Garfunkles version was fitting for their time. He did so well when this came out a few years ago that I researched the band and it gave me a new outlook on heavy metal groups.
I've watched a lot of vocal coaches and teachers react to this beautiful song by disturbed and I will say, your reaction is my favorite. You're so wholesome and you have a lovely soul and it radiates from you! I once had some hippy lady "paint my aura" and I never really like understood until this video.. Your aura is bright, and positive but also layered, there is hurt down in there but it's covered by vibrance! Thanks for the reaction! You're a lovely human! (also I swear I'm not drunk or high on anything 🤣😂)
I saw them live at Oak Mountain Amphitheater and they sound amazing. They sound JUST LIKE they do in the music videos/ recordings. It's insane and awesome. If you (general) havent seen them live I highly suggest it
My all time favourite band I absolutely love Dave’s voice! Every single song on every album is just amazing but this gives me goosebumps every single time!
This is a great version and your reactions are great!! Your Wowwwww!! I love it!!! Paul Simon loves this version, puts a new spin on this song. This is different than the other version where his voice is not as gruff. This is beautiful!
I already said this before, I like your reactions. You mentioned the orchestra a few times. A lot of people missed that. Not me, I focused on all of them. Watched a few times the young man on his cello is 100% playing by ear. They are all so good. Loved that part too. The whole thing was beautiful.
This is my favorite reaction by a vocal coach of this song I have seen for this song and i have seen a bunch. I think its just because of how much you seemed to enjoy it while watching
I wonder if David gets tired of singing this. But this version if the song makes tens of thousands of people feel from their core his singing ❤ we thank him for this.
Disturbed's version of Sound of Silence is the only version I care to listen to, until I find someone remotely as good as him. As one man put it, "The original sounds like giving into darkness, while Disturbed's version sounds like a challenge to the darkness."
Listening to this brings me goosebumps right up into my head and down right to my toes. No joke! Watching the video to this brings me to tears. Every. Single. Time. Thank you for a great analysis to an incredible song! Blessings to you
Here is what I appreciate about this reaction...and btw, I am not a singer by any stretch of the imagination...however, I rarely pay much attention to the instruments, but you pointing that out makes me realize that it's about more than just the singing...so thank you! 😊
Amazing song and amazing reaction by the Master of Voice. I remember It played by Simon and Garfunkel. In Spain was very popular because un catholic churches we prayed "our father" with the Melody of the sound of silence. Congrats again, Andy.
Some smart ass on the O'Brien show used Auto Tune without David Draiman's knowledge. Lets say David was a little ticked off. Heard David at concerts and non venue event, he can just out right sing!
There is a live performance of this with David and Myles Kennedy of Alterbridge. Done as a duet as the song was written. Also that was a Grammy nominated performance (on Conan I mean).
Realize, he was sick with the flu when he did thisvlive, but he belted it out like ther powerhouse he is!!! Absolutely beautiful rendition of a classic!Un-frigging-believable 😮 ❤ 😢 ❤❤❤
The Conan version gives me goosies every time! Trained as a Jewish Cantor, the man is sitting down, sick with the flu and still able sing like this! A true mike drop!
The most beautiful part of this reaction?? Watching your face throughout the performance! Brilliant :D I love watching your reactions....they always make my day a much brighter one. Thank you xxx Hugs from Norway :)
Yo this guy gotta be the best reactor to this song, everyone else reacting is like "Woah,, ommmggg,," and he is just like "I luv it, it's so beautiful I skipped my words there for a second" ha, Iuv you man
Was a freshman in college. Guy came to a party in Framingham MA from Chicago and said listen to this. 6 months before they went national. Was hooked from minute 1.
THANK YOU!!! You are the first person I have seen who mentioned that awesomely beautiful 'sound' at the end. Is there a better way to end such an amazing performance?
This is one of my favorite songs, and this version is just a step above. So naturally I have popped around watching so many reactions to it. Your reaction to this is straight from the soul of a music lover and I love it. Big surprise seeing a voice teacher love music, right? But watching you connect to this piece was a treat. A lot of the other reactions are almost business-like in their explanations, but I could see the absolute love you have for music in your eyes and I was so refreshing. Thank you for sharing !
You are so lovely. I can tell you are a delight, and someone I want to know. I love the way you describe things, and the details to your opinion that you give just really resonate with me. Thank you for being here!
He isn't "truly" classically trained. He was however trained as a Cantor. He actually had to take additional voice lessons for this song to better perfect his range.
As everyone who sees/hears this version knows, his voice and this arrangement is remarkable. He was indeed ill during this performance and, afterward, he was furious with them because they auto-tuned his performance without his permission. Rude.
In an interview he said that he had acid reflux so bad it was eroding his vocal cords. He had 2 surgeries to fix it, but it was unsuccessful. Voice control, diet, and very strict regimens keeps him singing like this. It's a really testament to his dedication and sheer power as a vocalist.
Thank you for eloquently breaking down how he gave us this beautiful rendition, feel like I can understand and appreciate vocals better from your explanation of them.
don't you love how it reaches a point where you can't stop the playback no matter how much you think you should, it just grabs you that thoroughly Voice on loan from God ...
David Draiman will always give me goosebumps! This version of "The Sounds of Silence" is better the Simon and Garfunkel's version. I love Disturbed! 😌😌😌
I wouldn't say better and I'm sure he wouldn't either. He just gives the song a different feeling, makes you feel different emotion from the original. I wouldn't necessarily say either are better than the other because both are fantastic. They're both just suited to two totally different moods. 😁
I was about to yell at my computer when you stopped right in the middle of the climax there. LOL I've never seen anyone through that before. Ha ha I think you should replay the performance to get the full impact of how powerful that moment is supposed to be.
Cuando se toca, y se araña el alma humana, nos transforma, es TAN EXCELENTE SU VOZ, QUE ES PURA VERDADDD. No puedo pasar un dia sin escucharlo. Divinooooo
Heh, your facial expression are darn close to mine when I listen to this. I'm actually not a fan of when groups retread an iconic song. Rarely does it ever improve and go beyond the original. David was so sick with the flu and running a higher temperature; that is why he was sitting down. His voice is amazing and doesn't waver.
David Draiman's voice is just AWESOME!! SOOO well CONTOLLED!! Best voice I've ever heard!
PEOPLE: Heavy metal bands can’t really sing.
DISTURBED: Hold my beer.
Lmfao true
Disturbed isn't really a heavy metal band! They are Hard Rock and Alternative Metal
One of the best singers in his genre. Disturb did superb with this song , my hat goes out to them.
Who said metal singers cant really sing?
PEOPLE: Heavy metal bands can't really play music, every metal band, hold our beers.
