@@xPhantomxify It's not that I want the monitor to charge the laptop, it's the benefit of using ONE cable to do **everything**! Without these features, I'd need to run a DP or HDMI (that'd likely carry audio), a separate power cable, then I would either need a different solution for KVM or use a 2nd mouse and keyboard (probably internal laptop KBM). I tried this monitor for like a week but ultimately sent it back. The sub pixel layout on both QD and WOLEDs is so bad, especially at 1440p. If you are doing literally anything other than content consumption / gaming, then text clarity issues and colour fringing is extremely noticeable. I know people say you shouldn't get an OLED for productivity work, but owning a PC means I spend some time on the desktop regardless. And when your browsing the web, typing up a short word doc, or sending a couple of emails, there's nothing that'll make your £900 QD OLED monitor look cheap faster than poor text clarity. It's a real shame, because every other thing about this monitor is amazing. Hoping in the future we get some OLEDs with more traditional sub pixel arrangements so I can enjoy all aspects of using one as a PC monitor.
I wonder if the burn in warranty coverage still counts if you're careless and e.g. disable all the OLED Care functions? I of course dont want to, just curious if it still would be covered by warranty

Not being able to turn off DSC is a deal breaker for me as an NVIDIA user. The MSI doesn't have this problem and at this price point it should be mandatory. There are rumblings that this could be fixed via a firmware update but nothing from Gigabyte officially yet which means it could never come.
Could you explain why is this a problem ? I'm about to pull the trigger on this one but everybody talks about this DSC. Whats the problem with it ? Im also an Nvidia fanboy
@yungsavage5005 It's only a problem. If you use DLDSR, which I use all the time for single player games. If you never use that then the only other issue you would have is a few seconds long blackscreen when tabbing out of games.
Interesting but I'm really curious about the original panel that there is in all QD-OLED 360Hz so far. It would be really awesome if you could test and review the Samsung Odyssey G6 LS27DG600SUXEN on that famous panel 360Hz QD-OLED but this time in matte not gloss finish. Sadly only in the silver color version for now, but how often really ppl look on the back of the monitor. Especially taking on crazy prices in many parts of Europe where eg you say it should cost 800 dollars and for our market they cost 1000 dollars and that is so sad, cause it is not only monitors with bigger prices in Europe but GPU CPU basically all tech is more expensive. Nice review, Tim. I want a flat panel, vrr 1440p monitor for a mix of single player and non-competitive multiplayer gaming with excellent text clarity for non-gaming use, below $800. What are you recommending? These OLED monitors are too niche for general use.
@monitorsunboxed Please review DELL Ultrasharp 2724D, it has 2000:1 contrast ratio on IPS display, studio monitor but 120HZ, if the response time acceptable, would be a solid choice for single player gamers. Edit: 350 dollars in my region.
Have you reached out to rtings to inquire why their testing has so much less lag at 60hz for the dell relative to the Msi models for this same panel? Tftcentral seems to have different results (more in line with yours) as well Thanks
I just happened to buy this monitor yesterday, literally 1 day before your review lol. oh well still think I made a good choice, msi was out of stock and I don't like dell sooo not much option.
HDR 400 is not quite HDR, tbh. You need at least 600 nits of brightness for the display to be HDR capable, and even then IPS monitors are never gonna be truly HDR capable unless they're miniLED.
This year have been "OLED Unboxed", which is nice, but for people who want their monitor to last 8-10 years not very useful. I would like to see some compromise solutions comparisons, like FALD vs OLED, was there any development there? High hz and response times is such a miniscule detail for single player gamers, they do feel nice to play with but presentation is way more important. Would be amazing if monitor reviewers stopped calling pretty shit ~800:1 monitors "great gaming monitors".
I have captured various screen shots and have made them my screen background that swap every minute. No icons and hide the taskbar, thankfully have a elgato stream deck that has the shortcuts that I want on them so chance of burn in would be very very low. @@zndxt1970 for real? I just heard about it, but no reviews. So was wondering if it is any decent.
You clearly don't have one @@zndxt1970
i see this one always in stock, in US, bestbuy, microcenter, 900$ plus 200$ store gift card, i think people dont grab them because sams do not provide with the warranty for burn in
@@zndxt1970$899.99 before tax (variable, where I live is 6%)
I tried this monitor for like a week but ultimately sent it back.
The Alienware AW2725DF doesn't have proper HDMI 2.1....?
Im actually just looking for a oled i checked booth monitores the "FO27Q3" is actually 60€~ cheaper in germany then the "AW2725DF" and the "271QPX" is 30eur cheaper then the gigabyte model .. sooo wich one should i get O.o
Any reason y’all haven’t reviewed the new LG 27GS95QE?
Is display stream compression something that is noticable? Im planning to buy a 27 inch 1440p 360hz oled, but they all use dp1.4.
It's said to be "visually lossless" as opposed to 8 bit color with dithering, which is not.
If the price ratio between Australia and the US is 0.67 the price is equal. That is the current exchange rate. To put this in another way, the average salary in Australia is $98,000 whereas in the US is $60,000.
Where's the Samsung G60SD review?
so is there going to be any review about lenovo Y27QF-30 QHD 240 hz monitor???
Hi. Is the new model Fo27q2 same panel gen 3 oled as this one? Just lower refresh rate?
Lot of OLED releases this year, now let's compete these prices lower ;-)
See redmagic upcoming oled
Hello i need help :/
I'm between choosing the Gigabyte FO27Q3 or Asus XG27AQDMG
What would be the best choice for Almost Gaming / Multimedia and less Office / Browsing.
There are LED ceiling panels in the room itself and no direct sunlight.
Which type of Oled Technology would you choose?
Does this one have the eye fatigue issue I heard of on the aw2725df?
eye fatigue lol it's a monitor not the sun. If you get "eye fatigue" from a monitor you have bigger vision issues.
Does a combining of the high APL mode and HDR game mode seem like something that would happen in the future with firmware updates?
I've been clicking through the store links on more monitors because I'm in the market, but I have yet to see one with a good review that doesn't show up on Amazon as "unavailable". I don't know if people are killing the stock from good reviews, or if it's just not available in my country (USA) or maybe just not on Amazon or what. Then the Aussies in the comments all say they're grumpy because it's only available in the US. No, it is not. I don't know what is happening, but it's getting pretty old, especially the more serious you are about buying something.
Could you help me know the top 3 best 32 inch curved monitors for work productivity $500 or less. I’m not a gamer. I’ve researched for hours and just don’t know what to get. Thank you for your channel!
Response time performance section is my fav in these reviews
Bc i don’t watch them
Hashtag OLED life 😎
When will you guys be reviewing the new Samsung OLED's? thanks
Just make a 5120x2160 480 hz 21:9 OLED and I won't need any other monitor ever.
This is why they wont do it
This monitor or ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG? Which is better?
The gloss of the xg27 should be good but having owned the Pg27aqdm and dealing with their firmware updates breaking colour saturation (and not in a subtle oh that's slightly off way), I just don't know if I'd trust Asus again
Asus
the gigabyte.. it has 120hz MORE than the asus, plus asus is shit with there QC and warranty
Samsung ugly neon panel, absolute no go stand, factory calibration is a joke and Vrr ficker From hell. No thanks@XxAtomic646xX
@razor2049 youre clueless kid lmfao. Nothing you said is true. Also the fo27q3 is literally RTINGS best 1440p monitor pick 💀 cope. Asus is shit
Are there any differences between this and the FO27Q2?
120hz
240hz, everything else is the same. I got the Q2
Do you plan to review Gigabyte GS32Q monitor?
Is there a good 27" 1440p monitor for Gaming & Productivity?
Miniled from KTC or AOC
what do you mean when you say hdr issues with amd gpus, im asking because im about to buy this to pair with my 7800xt
@@phenom568 is this black screen on all OLED monitors or only for Nvidia users ? Thanks for the info bro
@yungsavage5005 Nvidia users. You can get around it by either turning off DSC or using borderless mode if the game allows.
Gigabyte Aorus FO27Q3 or the MSI MPG 271QRX
Both are pretty much the same. Get whatever is cheaper.
I'm gonna hold my decision to get any of that QD-OLED until we see what you think on that odyssey G6. Especially taking on crazy prices in many parts of Europe where eg you say it should cost 800 dollars and for our market they cost 1000 dollars and that is so sad, cause it is not only monitors with bigger prices in Europe but GPU CPU basically all tech is more expensive.
Greetings
#MonitorsUnboxed -- Can you please speak to us about the ASUS 4K 240Hz OLED PG32UCDM firmware update? -- Supposedly this increase in brightness is supposed to be massive? --
What do you think about the asrock pg27qft2a
I think you guys should Directly Compare ASUS PG32 UCX vs Asus 4K Qd OLED
That would be a great video, if being available in HDR.
- "great price"
- 800USD (more in EU)
- ok then im out
Blame your world leaders.
UA-cam commenters try to understand the concept of value challenge. $800 for a QD-oled with these specs is objectively a great price regardless of whether it fits within your personal budget or not.
@@Personalinfo404
Like if your leaders care about you !!
Currently 840€ in Germany is not too bad.
"Great price"
Sweden - Hold my beer!
Price: 1120$
Nice review, Tim. I want a flat panel, vrr 1440p monitor for a mix of single player and non-competitive multiplayer gaming with excellent text clarity for non-gaming use, below $800. What are you recommending? These OLED monitors are too niche for general use.
@monitorsunboxed Please review DELL Ultrasharp 2724D, it has 2000:1 contrast ratio on IPS display, studio monitor but 120HZ, if the response time acceptable, would be a solid choice for single player gamers.
Edit: 350 dollars in my region.
Did you try the 1080p tactical switch mode?
Have you reached out to rtings to inquire why their testing has so much less lag at 60hz for the dell relative to the Msi models for this same panel? Tftcentral seems to have different results (more in line with yours) as well
Thanks
I just happened to buy this monitor yesterday, literally 1 day before your review lol. oh well still think I made a good choice, msi was out of stock and I don't like dell sooo not much option.
Could you review the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQM1A ? Its seems to be the best 240hz 1440p monitor
Have you done a video on the samsung odyssey g6 360hz yet? I own it so I'd like to see you video on it
Guys I can't choose between this and the msimag 271qrx. which is actually better?
This is better . Better input lag, better brightness , better software..
What nits for should i use for the hdr calibration app? And in games when using the hdr mode at apl high
Can you please make video on HDR 10 vs HDR 400. I am unable to find a good video on the matter
HDR 400 is not quite HDR, tbh. You need at least 600 nits of brightness for the display to be HDR capable, and even then IPS monitors are never gonna be truly HDR capable unless they're miniLED.
@@mihirojha4475 _many thanks_
This year have been "OLED Unboxed", which is nice, but for people who want their monitor to last 8-10 years not very useful. I would like to see some compromise solutions comparisons, like FALD vs OLED, was there any development there?
High hz and response times is such a miniscule detail for single player gamers, they do feel nice to play with but presentation is way more important. Would be amazing if monitor reviewers stopped calling pretty shit ~800:1 monitors "great gaming monitors".
What about the Samsung oled g6 27". When will that review be up
Need 24" OLED monitors for dual display set up
I have captured various screen shots and have made them my screen background that swap every minute. No icons and hide the taskbar, thankfully have a elgato stream deck that has the shortcuts that I want on them so chance of burn in would be very very low. One question, running a game at highest setting how would you possibly get 360 fps or close? Have the same problem with 240htz so why get anything above 165?
You won't on highest settings. That is why you have to play on the lowest settings to get 360 FPS.
@@xPhantomxify so you buy a monitor that gives great visuals but you play on lowest setting?
Does the text clarity fix with dark mode which is white text on dark background?
The Alienware doesn't sport hdmi 2.1 so not console friendly. Gave you a reason to pay 30% more
This monitor or the msi 271qpx
I would like to see a 4k 27 OLED.
Does this have the same joystick and kvm as the m34wq as that is junk. The joystick is broken and only goes to black equalizer. The kvm does not work. I have to unplug laptop to see desktop and the usb-b cable lid not recognized by gigabyte Sidekick OSD software and just closes app.
Mine failed outside of the 14 days of ownership and store said gigabyte would have to repair.
I can't decide between the Dell Alienware
AW2725DF (777€) vs GIGABYTE AORUS
F027Q3 (786€)
The Alienware hat 2x Dp 1.4 and the Gigabyte has 2x HDMI 2.1
Both are grate Qd OLED.
These oled panels really aren’t suitable for desktop usage if you constantly have to baby them all the time.
Exactly. QD-OLEDs seem to be a bit of a dead end compared to glossy WOLEDs.
Stopped babying oleds for more than 3 years now. Not once have I experience burn in issues. Longest one I used for more than 2 years as a desktop monitor. Though I'm not the type to always have a static image on display.
@@Le_Mon92 years isn't a metric of success...
@@DrakonR did I say it is?
@@Le_Mon9 in the context of your message, yes. You mentioned how you haven't experienced burn in issues, and then follow up with a two year metric.
can someone please just make an esport qd-oled monitor it seems like the perfect monitor technology for it. Just make a 1080p qd oled at fuck all refresh rate and you could practically delete zowie from the market PLEASE
samsung g6 OLED when will be test?
to see what to buy g6 oled or gigabyte...
I'm so tired that HDR 1000 is locked to below 400 nits at full white screen brightness. It's the one thing I hate about my OLED.
VRR flicker?
