I bought its cheaper version borther FO27Q2. It is allegedly same display with 240hz instead of 360 but cheaper by 30%. I do not play esport games (GL running any AAA game on 360 fps even with rtx 4090) so it was a no brainer for me.
Which is your favourite OLED monitor for gaming Dominic? You should do a video end of the year offering guidance as I know a lot of people buy stuff late or early year
For me personally it'd have to be a 4k/240Hz model like the MSI MPG 321URX, love the sharpness and fluidity you get at that resolution and refresh rate. Thanks for the suggestion too!
seems the color balance is way out when you get it out of the box, I wonder if anyone ever plays with the OSD settings to change stuff, or do they just use the panels.
I find his tests are actually useful. You know exactly what you are going to get if you buy a monitor tested by him. Unless the manufacturers sneakily change the panel after that is. Well done Dominic..
thanks, we've had a few questions about it in previous videos so i wanted to mention it here - all testing info is available on our website: www.kitguru.net/peripherals/monitors/dominic-moass/kitguru-updates-monitor-test-methodology-with-portrait-displays-calman-ultimate/
I dont have much faith in Gigabyte recently as my last mobo failed and I was stuck with it, I know I had it over a year, but you should be able to pay to get it fixed. I had no UK support at all
OLED is a great panel to get now with prices dropping. I remember when they first launched they were multiple thousands of pounds. very fast too for gaming so you dont get blurring
good question, my favourite overall would be the MSI MPG 321URX 4K/240Hz, but that is more than a grand - below that, i'd have to say one of the original 175Hz 21:9 ultrawide models, they can be found below 800 now.
Good analysis of the panel, those Samsung OLED panels are very bright, I must admit I think I still prefer the LG panels overall , especially on a good TV
Does the HDMI 2.1 implemented on this panel have the bandwidth to support the full 360hz without DSC? Or do we need to wait till next year for them to provide DP2.1?
start to finish it's probably a couple of days, the extra HDR testing can add some time, and when a monitor has loads of overdrive modes that also adds time on!
I currently have the Gigabyte Aorus FO27Q3 monitor and I’m debating whether to switch to the MSI MPG 271QRX. I would really appreciate any advice or comments-whether it's worth the switch or if the Gigabyte is better?"
not worth the cost increase as its essentially the same line of monitor. If you do want to upgrade look into 480hz 1440p oled or go 4k oled route. As of right now this monitor is the best value atm and is essentially the same as all other 360hz 1440p oleds
I've not found much of a different between LG and Samsung in terms of colour accuracy on the latest OLEDs tbh, both deliver really good results with a good factory calibration
Brightness levels are good with this screen, I have one. I found the image a bit warm as well, but I prefer that to having too much blue in the colour scheme
I'm really curious to know if high refresh rates provide any noticeable improvements on mid range GPUs where games are reaching 60-90 FPS. I'd also be interested in knowing if VRR is even needed with a 360 FPS monitor - can you just turn on VSynch when the refresh rates are so high?
We show motion clarity across different ranges at 10:07, but the short answer is no, you'll get a lot more blur at 60-90fps than at 360hz. You can still get tearing without adaptive sync though so I'd keep it on
@@KitGuruTech Thanks for the response. I don't think that I'll ever get above 120FPS with the video card I'm likely to buy and settings I prefer. The 240Hz monitors from this generation of OLEDs seem more than good enough for me as long as they don't have issues with VRR,
@@KitGuruTech If you run it at 360hz but your card is rendering at a lower fps does it matter? Would it help to lock it to a ratio of the 360hz so 60 fps for example?
Pretty good looking screen but i dont understand why people would pay extra for this gigabyte version as its the same as the Samsung panel which is considerably less in my region
1440p is my favourite res as you dont need a 4090 to run a decent frame rate, but 360hz, that is going to need some serious GPU grunt - I think that would need a 4090 - great analysis dominic
If you see spam, please report it, its an ongoing issue with youtube - thanks ! Also let us know what you think about this monitor and if it would be one you would buy yourself.
Is the best picture setting to use is sRGB? Just asking to be sure. Thanks for the review.

Thanks Dominic great review all round as always, appreciate them !
Good technical analysis of the Samsung panel , they are great, I have an oddyysey panel and i think it uses the same screen as this one
Yeah if it's a 360Hz 1440p QD-OLED , it'll be using this panel!
@@KitGuruTech Hmmm..
I picked up the Gigabyte Aorus FO27Q2. Basically the same monitor but at 240hrz and $200.00 less. Beautiful screen.
Glad you like it!
That Calman calibration package seems amazing
I like Kitguru monitor reviews, they do very good testing
thanks, appreciate it! always open to new ideas too

Watching that driving game literally looks like you've got a window open in your room. OLED is just amazing.
Very nicely done, good review and great content - your monjitor reviews are my favourite on youtube bar none
thanks, appreciate it!
@@KitGuruTech Welcome!
Thank you for your review from Germany
Glad it was helpful!
@@KitGuruTech Welcome!
Great review Dominic thank you
Thanks for the review, its excellent screen
Seems you really need to be sure to use the right mode as your testing shows some of them are way out
Thanks for the review, Is the colour more accuract on this one than the other sub 1000 OLEDS you have reviewed lately?
Not necessarily, they're all pretty close to be honest, OLEDs generally come well calibrated from the factory
@@KitGuruTech Okay!
GIgabyte should offer something different than the samsung version of this screen, its more expensive too
Thats what I want to know. Is the gigabyte better pre-calibrated or something?
@@dreschaffhausen5693 I believe so my monitor is great out of box in terms of color accuracy
I do know this is a glossy finish. Which makes it better than the Samsung panel in my opinion.
Tough audience these screens target, so many options now
Dominic you have lost a lot of weight,. you look really healthy now!
Thanks, nicely presented review
Thanks for watching!
@@KitGuruTech Welcome!
I love these monitor reviews you guys do. It’s so thorough really can rely on your results.
That motion clarity manages to come through even in the video.
Samsung OLED saturation is always too much to my eye, but you can always tweak it
seems the color balance is way out when you get it out of the box, I wonder if anyone ever plays with the OSD settings to change stuff, or do they just use the panels.
i wouldn't say it's way out at all, 6% deviation from 6500K, I'd be surprised if it were that noticeable to most people!
@@KitGuruTech I understand!
I do like Dominics reviews, he is always very calm and well thought out in how he tests
thanks!

Love a good weekend catchup with the kitguru videos 😍 but £800 for a monitor? Ouch! 😮
Haha! I felt same way 🥲
Cant believe i missed this one, thanks for a great review as usual dominic ! :)
These displays are just on another level. Colour, greys just fantastic to what we had only a year or so ago.
I like your testing methology, its very good Dominic

Thanks Dominic, really good options for people to have - I like how you have reviewed a lot of OLED panels lately. good testing
thanks, appreciate it!
so who's better ?
AORUS FO27Q3 or Alienware AW2725DF or MSI 271QPX ?
Those response times are phenomenal.
Dont MSI have the exact same Samsung OLED in one of their monitors as well? are they priced the same?
yeah i mention that one in this review, it's the MSI MPG 271QRX, that's also £800 at the minute but was £900 when i reviewed it
@@KitGuruTech Great Review!
Viewing angles are great on OLED, is the one thing I noticed as I move about a lot in my room at the desk sometimes
Very nice review indeed, but what about the 240Hz model, the FO27Q2? It's a lot cheaper atleast on other markets.
Good analysis and interesting to see the differences after calibration is performed
Thanks Kitguru, good review ! I like Dominic
Dominic's reviews are the best!! 🤩
You do the best reviews!
Hello 👋🏻. Does that monitor support display port 2.1?
no it doesn't, but with DSC it you get 1440p 360Hz over HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4
Thank you very much 🙏🏻
The OSD looks really very good - was quite impressed with the layout
It's definitely a good one!
Thanks, I just bought this, appreciate the review !
Beautiful monitor and images! ❤ Thanks for the review! Very nice 👍🙂
welcome!
I dont have much faith in Gigabyte recently as my last mobo failed and I was stuck with it, I know I had it over a year, but you should be able to pay to get it fixed. I had no UK support at all
ouch, that sounds unfortunate - what happened to the mobo?
@@KitGuruTech Don't know
Kind of cool they provide firmware updates for the monitor. There seems to be a lot of software overhead with HDMI 2.1 stuff.
Nice review and good testing - Still not sure what screen to get in my search for a good quality OLED panel
Looks like a winner, looks stunning based on what i saw and your testing, but I am looking at it through my own monitor so hard to tell LOL
It’s a good panel. Gigabyte seem to have put a premium on the Samsung version however which is strange.
Technically thats a really good panel, manual color balance options really helps
Would love to see a super wide version OLED.
Thanks that was a great even handed fair review 🤘🏻
Glad you liked it!
So between this and MSI 360hz, the 240 Glossy from ASUS, or the newest 480hz 27 from ASUS, I wonder which of these you find the best?
OLED is a great panel to get now with prices dropping. I remember when they first launched they were multiple thousands of pounds. very fast too for gaming so you dont get blurring
It’s fantastic but is it worth the premium over an IPS?
Could you do a roundup video of all the monitors you have reviewed this year ? I’m lost which is the best and which gets your recommendations
Thanks, definitely a good idea!
Those viewing angles are just crazy especially if you are used to LCD.
Whats the best sub 1 grand OLED you have reviewed Dominic? which would you use if you had them all sitting around and why?
good question, my favourite overall would be the MSI MPG 321URX 4K/240Hz, but that is more than a grand - below that, i'd have to say one of the original 175Hz 21:9 ultrawide models, they can be found below 800 now.

This look like a really decent monitor right off the bat.

pretty good panel even the default setup out of the box is decent.
Should be as its a premium price.
I am in the market for an OLED but there are so many and sometimes they are the same panel as another companies
I dont think you can go wrong with any OLED just have to watch the panel burn in
Does the firmware update have the ability to improve colour accuracy?
9:01 wtf is that stand? It takes up so much desk room!
Excellent screen and great review thank you
Very welcome
Great review!
A few days ago I bought this monitor and it won't let me get more than 120hz. Can someone help me?
I wish they would ban the button controls for OSD instead of the joystick.
Good review Dominic thanks 👍🏻
No problem 👍
Excellent. Nice panel!
Great screen. Not sure this gigabyte version using that Samsung panel justified the premium however 🤐
Good review Dominic, a lot of testing - how long do these take to test? a few days?
They must take forever these tests he goes in to so much detail.
start to finish it's probably a couple of days, the extra HDR testing can add some time, and when a monitor has loads of overdrive modes that also adds time on!
Proper HDR mode is quite amazing. You can get properly dazzled by looking at a bright object in game. Or is that just me?
you definitely can!
@@KitGuruTech Glad it's not my eyes! Its pretty cool but sometimes its too bright!

I think this has a 3 year warranty based on my research in Europe? is that right?
QD OLED is great. More an LG fan myself for colour accuracy but very bright vibrant panels for gaming duties.
I've not found much of a different between LG and Samsung in terms of colour accuracy on the latest OLEDs tbh, both deliver really good results with a good factory calibration
Would imagine they are using the same technology. I have an LG and from what I can tell from the review they are basically the same.
Man, that's a sweet screen! ❤
Brightness levels are good with this screen, I have one. I found the image a bit warm as well, but I prefer that to having too much blue in the colour scheme
yeah i'd agree, it's definitely preferable of the two!
I would get one but burn in does bother me for the type of work I would use it for.
Too much blue makes it very tiring. Always have my stuff set to warm.
Does the monitor perform also well with non-gaming tasks like video editing?
So many monitors. Could
Do with a guide on these soon tbh 🤘🏻
Thanks for letting us know!
Gigabyte never looked after me when I had a GPU fan fail, had to go back to the retailer I bought it from to get support as it was past a year old.
That sucks what GPU was it?
I'm really curious to know if high refresh rates provide any noticeable improvements on mid range GPUs where games are reaching 60-90 FPS.

Is there any reason why you wouldnt just set it to 360hz and leave it at that?
Can you rent a caiman or something to calibrate these displays?
Thats a nice stand, can orient it pretty much any way you want.
Here in the Netherlands this is currently the cheapest monitor with this panel, mine is arriving today!
Wonder why there is the price difference. Maybe Gigabyte UK overpricing it?
1000 nits is pretty darn impressive.
Is it worth upgrading to this if I already have a 1440p 240Hz monitor?
The more oleds the better. We just need a roundup recap of which ones to buy at specific price points
definitely considering something like that!
HDR game mode looks good based on what I see in the video
зачем покупать это если есть MSI MPG 271QRX?)
Thank goodness they included HDMI 2.1 .
is the FO27Q2 model has different features other than the refresh rate?
As far as I know it's the same thing but at 240Hz not 360
Pretty good looking screen but i dont understand why people would pay extra for this gigabyte version as its the same as the Samsung panel which is considerably less in my region
yeah it's all relative - as i say at the end, shop around for the best deal as any screen using the same QD OLED panel will give very similar results!
How do I clean this monitor? Distilled water just smears and makes it look horrible 😭

it really depends on the game!
Hello sir new subscriber, What is the picture settings u used on this video on your real rold gaming shiwcase?
that was all at default settings!
damn, i heard about this monitor a few minutes ago serached it on youtube and found this video which was posted 47 minutes ago
Whats that square white light you are shining at the screen in the video?
where can I find the best settings for this monitor?
There's option to plug headphone jack. Does it sounds same or better when plugged in pc?
there's probably little difference, but the monitor may sound slightly better than your case front panel connector due to less interference
1000nits is pretty solid for this kind of panel at the price.
