ahoy mate. attaching the cable to the bottom of the motor and having that pulley right at the top was a game changer!!! its so easy to pull up it motor now. before I had the cable attached right at the top of the motor and was pulling down to a pulley on the boat. it was so hard to lift!! thanks for that idea!!! drinks are on you!!!
I’m doing the same only thing is I’m putting a 1 x4 in. Aluminum plate inside the plastic parts on each side where the locking notching holes are. Then do the same thing you’ve done. With my bungee or springs. I like your thinking
Not sure how I missed your comment but thanks so much for the kind words. I’m really glad the content was helpful. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch🤙🏻
Nice video. I came up with a simple way that doesn't require any modifications to the locking mechanism. Just had to drill a hole through the lever and used a pulley I had purchased from home depot :)
Great idea man! I thought of the same thing I was trying to avoid drilling it, but I think that’s gonna be the best way to go in the long run because there is so much tension when using the bungee that I don’t think the glue is going to hold overtime. It’s worked so far, but I think your idea would be a better long-term solution. Thanks!
I’m actually working on a video right now that makes a way for you to raise and lower it without using the release tab. I wish I had thought of it earlier but I really didn’t have to alter much at all and it works like a champ. I’ve been using this for six months now and it’s amazing!!
Thanks for your video it helped me out a lot. I was working on trying to figure out how I could raise my trolling motor on my kayak and the video was a big help. Thanks again
You single handily solved my issue with wanting to use reverse but that little lever stays shut so it moves freely I will definitely be adding that curved bracket and ties to mine so I can finally use reverse!
Love this set up. I need help doing this with the Watersnake t24. If you look at it, it has a straight push pin for the tilt lock. Give me ideas on how to keep it unlocked. Thanks in advance. I dont know how to take that pin out.
Great video. My kayak is setup to pull the motor straight up with a rope behind the seat. Maybe a weight lifter would make that work but the weight of is way too much for me. So I want to redo it using your idea, but do you transport your kayak with the motor on it? Removing it for transport doesn’t look like an option.
Thanks for your Nice step by step instructional video. I have a question how do you manage the weed when you on the water, because now the motor is out of your reach. i’ll appreciate your reply.
@@RachiOrion I got you now… Fortunately I don’t have to deal with a lot of grass/weeds where I’m at so I haven’t had to deal with that problem. That is a good question though but I don’t really have an answer. Sorry I couldn’t be more help on that one. However, I’m coming out with a new video on a new and improved way to raise the motor. It is very similar to what I’m doing now but it raises the motor straight up and down rather than swinging it out and swinging it back down if that makes sense I’ll have it out soon
@@FlintHillCatfishing thanks for your honest answer. I didn't tested my one yet. It was in my mind that's why i’d asked you because your video helped me a lot to put my motor on. I’d install an 8” actuator to lift it.
I used a bungee cord for locking the shaft of the motor in place too, instead of tying it I used heavy duty zip ties. I started loose and worked my way up to the right spot. Todd Ferrante on UA-cam has a different way of doing this
I'm going to find a way to have that lift cable also release the stop on the pivot. So that way when I pull the cord to lift the trolling motor, I also release the lock tab at the same time. There's got to be a way to do it.
Hey Dan thanks so much for watching brother… I have another video that talks about the trolling motor install in detail and you can find a link in the description that will take you to my speed control👍🏻 let me know if you have any problems or can’t find it.
Great content! 2 questions, is it better to keep the motor unlocked instead of locked in case you bump something? That way nothing is damaged or there’s less damage then if it is locked down. Also do you have to register/title the boat now that it’s no longer paddle/man powered? I have a motor on mine and have been trying to figure out the regulations. Can’t wait to see you out there and take a closer look at your yak!
Great questions. For your first question, yes keep it unlocked most of the time. I only lock mine when I am floating down a river and trying to slow myself down to fish certain parts of the river. For your second question yes you do have to register the boat if you put a trolling motor on it, not the Motor, just the boat. In South Carolina it’s only like $20. I called DNR in my state to confirm the regulations. I would encourage you to do the same just to be sure. I have a lot of fishing videos with me using Trolling Motor and it’s awesome, take some time to check them out. Thank you for watching!
Do you have inside hull access where the cam cleat is installed? If not, how did you install the cam cleat? Trying to put one on mine but having trouble as I do not have inside hull access at the place it needs to go. Thinking of trying toggle bolts.
Hey flint. I swear I found a video of yours where you added foam, to your kayak. But I can't find it now. Just wondering how your still liking it? How's it holding up? I hear bad things about it. I'm thinking it can't be that bad. I think it be great. Anyway any/all info on the foam would be awesome. Got a link to that video also?
I’m not really sure Matthew… It was a piece of stainless steel that One of my friends had in their shop so we fabricated it to work. I would say stepping out on a limb… That if you went to a machine shop and had them fabricate it it would probably cost $50-$100 stainless steel
Ralph… You had me cracking up reading all of your replies😂😂😂I like your idea for the locking mechanism… We do think alike a bit👍🏻 I really appreciate you watching👍🏻
Hey thanks man… Stay tuned because I have an improved version of this that is much easier and efficient! I’ll be dropping a video in a couple weeks on it🤙🏻
Dang Steve… I should’ve said this in the video but I didn’t think about it.... when I use the gorilla glue tape, I take a heat gun on low heat and just heat The object up just a tad that I am putting on the kayak, but I do it while The object is still in my hand. The heat causes the tape to get a little softer and the tape get softer so adheres really well but is still removable. I also heat the surface of the Kia where I’m gonna mount it just a touch just to get warm. I hope your product works out feel free to reach out to me if you have any more questions and I’ll try to help
@@Van50van i’m not sure what kind of epoxy you’re referring to, but I probably wouldn’t use any kind of liquid glue or epoxy on the surface of my kayak. One other thing that I have done before that does not include the gorilla glue tape......I have used plain old duct tape to secure whatever I was positioning on the kayak and it works Just fine. Raise your steering cables and you’ll be able to lift the motor with just your feet. Or, combine the unlocking cable and the lifting cable into one.
