Committing to My North Easterly Blanket ~ Knitting 30 Minutes a Day Through April. Will I Do It?

- Well, I've said it on UA-cam, so I need to keep to my promise! Knitting 30 minutes a day for 30 days on this luscious blanket!
I'm predominantly using a yarn advent in lovely pastel colours from Elderflower Stitches.

Hello Ashley, your viral video showed up in my recommendations so I watched and subscribed. I’m a 54 year old knitter who started knitting at 8 years of age. My long term project at the moment is the Martin Storey winter blanket from last year, I don’t do much colour work so it’s taking ages and I only pick it up now and then. I knit with all sorts of yarn from aldi to hand dyed and I normally have on the go a garment, socks ,a shawl and a blanket. Oh and I live in Cornwall I’m a part time dental receptionist and on part time grandchildren duty while their parents work. Love Penny xx

I watched the yarn advent reveal for this yarn and the progress you’ve made since you started making the blanket. Looking forward to seeing how much progress you’ve made at the end of the month. It will probably go faster on the days you don’t record. I’m one of those people that has to concentrate on whatever I’m doing or I lose track if I try to do something else at the same time. I’ve been that way since I was a young girl and have not improved with age.😀

I use 16" circular needles on things like this. They are big enough to manipulate but never get in the way. I also use a bulb marker to secure the join every time I change colour so the stitches don't unzip themselves if you drop one at the join. Your blanket is so pretty and using your grandma's needles are a lovely connection to the past.

Hi Ashley, loving the blanket. The colours are gorgeous. I have 2 blankets on the go using West Yorkshire Spinners Aran roving, and Aran blueface Leicester. One is a cable pattern, the other just beautiful garter stitch. Both are on 6mm needles with 260 stitches. One is nearly 5ft in length, the other is just over 4ft long. I’ve had to stop. We are decorating our second living room. I’ve had no time at all to knit on them! I will finish them!
With my advent from Giddy Yarns, and the advent from My yarney corner , I have decided to ball up all the 20g minis. Then hold them double with a natural fingering weight. I’ve casted on 325 stitches. I’m knitting 6 rows in garter of each colour. It’s taken ages. I am loving it though.

I enjoyed your "drivel" as you say very much. I've started this blanket as well. But I'm also working on 2 other blankets. So, its a slow go. But I love the pattern. I'm from the USA. Missouri.

Hi Ashley, I have a yarn advent from Ellie at Craft House Magic that I have earmarked for Laura Penrose's Sweet Shop blanket. I'm currently working on the Taylor Swift Folklore Cardigan for my daughter. It's my project with cables so it's taking me a bit of time but like you I try to get at least 30 mins a day on it. I think your blanket looks lovely - the pastel colours are gorgeous.
