*I do not profit off advertisements that UA-cam shows on my channel.*
I haven't knitted a Ranunculus yet. I must admit that i was put of too with the fit of the original jumper, but seeing yours knit in so many different yarns and weights gives me the urge too finally knit one and get the lovely fit that your garments are! ❤
You can do it! Cheering you on!
I've knitted loads too .... and I found the look of the front neck a bit clunky. Omit the short rows! Genius! Why didn't I think of that 😂 Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! Happy knitting!
Thank you so much for showing us how versatile this pattern is! Your sweaters are all beautiful and are very flattering on you. It is nice to be able to customize to get the fit you want and you did a brilliant job of that. I have knit one version of this pattern and am working on another. I think my next one will be more fitted with some waist shaping and without the front short rows on the neck. You have inspired me! Thank you so much!
You are so welcome! Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this. I loved all of your thoughts on why you like each one and the parts of them that you modified. Great job on all of them. They look fabulous on you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
They’re all lovely on you, but oh my, the green ones and especially the dark green one, really suit you! You’ve inspired tons of confidence in me to try my own. I did not know about the initial 2017 version vs. the more recent pattern, so thank you for that.
Thank you so much! You’re welcome!
I, too have made many ranunculi. I love the pattern. I have found myself purposefully purchasing yarn for different pattern …..and then saying…” I think I’ll make another ranunculus ! Most recently I’ve completed some with an unsound yarn. It looks and feels like a different pattern
So glad I found your YT channel! Thank you for doing this video. Love that you made multiples, all different. I am working on mine and it’s been struggle but I’m encouraged to push through because you’ve shown that it’s worth the work because you made multiple versions. Thank you again. Definitely keep up these videos. I love when knitters share what they made rather than what they want to make. They can share their experience and review and that’s valuable to me. Definitely subscribing to your channel.
Cheering you on!!
Great episode. I, literally, just cast on a Ranunculus yesterday and will strive to make it to fit more like yours than with so much positive ease. Thank you for so many details, including, how to create a rounder neckline rather than the boat neck.
You're very welcome! Happy knitting!
All beautiful pullovers! Love how you made them in various yarns and the details. The green one really stood out to me.
Thank you so much!
You do such a great job with these episodes - excellent overview of each one and your thought process is amazing! All of yours look so great!
Oh thank you so much for your kind words!!❤️❤️❤️
Love this video!! Really great detail and beautiful sweaters!! I have tried starting this sweater a few times with fingering weight yarn held single, but have trouble with the gauge and creating a material I like. You inspire me to try again. thank you so much for sharing!
I find fingering yarn knit at a super loose gauge is hard to keep an even tension!!
They are all gorgeous Stephanie!!! I will look at your project pages and get some tips because I am not into the super oversized Ranunculus either!! And the colours you chose 💕
Thank you so much!!!💖💖💖
I’ve watched several Ranunculus videos and I feel yours is the most useful to me. I believe I now have enough information and insight to begin my own Ranunculus. Your video was very well presented and with good camera work and screen aids, so thank you. I’ve thumbed-up and subscribed.
Thank you so much!!
Hi Stephanie :) I started watching your videos this year and I am so glad I found your corner of the internet! Every video is like checking in with a friend. Thank you for sharing what you do and I hope your December is cozy and full of warmth.
Oh thank you so much! Thank you for joining me in this creative space. Take care!
I am a first time subscriber and love your video. I have the Ranunculus pattern but have hesitated starting it. I am now energized to give it a go because if all your beautiful sweaters. I did not want an airy, see through sweater. At 76, I just wouldn’t feel comfortable in that texture. I definitely will be knitting this pattern thanks to you. ❤
Welcome!!! Yay!!! You can do it! Cheering you on ❤️
@@EdibleThoughtsMakes thank you 😊
yeah! will enjoy during my lunch!
Thank you!
Wonderful video. Love. I'm currently knitting my first Ranunculus and its so, so pretty. I'm at the yoke and I'm already thinking of yarn fiber I'll choose for my second one. I love all of your items and the different seasons. New subbie. Thank you!
Whoohoo!!! cheering you on!!!
Another great podcast!!l Thank you for sharing all the alterations you made with this great pattern. I need to jump on the Ranculus wagon and with the knowledge you shared it may happen in the near future.
Yay! Thank you so much!
I've never been interested in knitting one, but seeing your beautiful projects, now I absolutely want one :-D !
Thank you! 😊 Cheering you on!
What a beautiful collection 💗
Thank you 💖
This is a wonderful episode, thank you for sharing your Ranunculus collection
Thank you so much!
You got me on the Ranunculus and Santolina train and I am about to knit my third. Such a great summer garment and such a great gift knit! Love it. Thanks for always inspiring and informing!
YAY!!! I'm so glad you gave Santolina a try and enjoy the yarn for the Ranunculus. What colors did you knit yours in?
Best title of a Knitting YT video ever :) I've only made one Ranunculus but you are motivating me to make more!
Yay, thank you!
Your work is beautiful - every single one! I’ve knit 3, and you’ve inspired me to do one more for summer….and then a winter one! Thank you!
Thank you so much! Cheering you on!
I want to knit my first Renonculus, so, I'm very glad et grateful for your video. I love all yours sweaters.
cheering you on!
Such a wonderful variety of ranunculi. I am watching you while I knit my 3rd and definitely see more in my future, inspired by all of yours. 😃
Thank you so much 😊 happy knitting!!
I am really grateful for this video. I knit the Ranunculus almost entirely (was waiting for more yarn to finish second sleeve, the rest was done), but I was not completely satisfied with the fit. It was going to be slightly more snug than I thought would be comfortable, but I kept going thinking I could block it slightly bigger. But then I just kept thinking about it as I was waiting for the other skein of yarn and decided to frog it and start over. I watched this video a second time just to gain some more insight on fit and things, and then I heard you (for the second time) talk about skipping the short rows in the front to make it slightly more scooped. Since already knitting it the first time, I understood what you were talking about and so decided that I would prefer that neckline. So it worked out well, since I was already going to redo it. Anyway, thank you for your videos! They are helpful and good inspiration. :)
So glad you tried again!!!! 🥳❤️
Hi again, Stephanie! Loved this Ranunculus parade! I have knit 1 ranunculus when it was first published and have never updated the pattern. This podcast inspired me to do that, finally! 😄 I especially love the look of your winter version and am brain-browsing my handspun stash for a possible version I could knit. I also, wanted to add that even though you knit a very different size of garments then I do, I still always feel inspired and never excluded when watching your podcasts. Thanks for the time you spend sharing your makes! 💙
A handspun Ranunculus! How special!! 💙💙💙 Thank you for spending some time with me!!
Liked each of your Ranunculus. I have knitted 3 last year. It allows you to play with yarn and sizing. It has great versatility. Whoever has knitted one has knitted at least two. You are a great knitter.
Thank you so much! Awesome - What colors did you knit your three??
Thank you for another interesting podcast. I have made one Ranunculus and after watching your podcast you have inspire me to knit another.
You are so welcome! What color did you knit your first one?
Loving the smooth Ranunculus rundown, Stephanie❤ new subscriber here xxx nb i have a dk one in brown and a summer cotton/rayon one on cream. Love and wear them both in season. Now I fancy more😂
Welcome to this creative space! Thank you for joining us! Those sound lovely!
So interesting and useful, thank you for putting together this video. Your ranunculii are all gorgeous!
Thank you so much!
Talk about perfect timing! I'm planning to cast on with a friend around Christmas -- mine will be a winter Ranculus in unseen. I love seeing all your different mods, and it's getting my brain turning on how I want this first one of mine!
YAY!!!!! So exciting!!!!!
Beautiful sweaters 😍 I‘ve knitted two versions so far and love them dearly. They are my most worn sweaters.
Thank you! How wonderful!
Thanks for all this information.
I hope to knit my first ranuculus in a few months!
Cheering you on!
Thanks so much for your input. I do not like boxy, big sweaters but I so wanted to make one. Just found you and subscribed.
Thanks for subbing! Best wishes with your knitting adventures!
Lovely! I too bought the pattern after it was “updated”. Even tho the neckline pattern is the Star of the Show, I really like your pink-y speckled yarn! Flower-y pattern + flower-y colors = Summer!!! (to me, anyway)
Thanks for the show & tell, Ranunculus is The Perfect Pattern for any yarn, size, body!
(…big shawl done, sock toes + new sock cast-ons…THEN I will make a Ranunculus-Linen Quill & 90Cotton/10wool fingering…for next summer !!!)
Thank you!! Whoohoo!!
Thanks for the great tips. I have not knit a Ranunculus yet but it is on the agenda for the fall. I loved the yarn tips as well. It's helpful to see how the different fabric can change the look of the sweater. Thanks!
You are so welcome! Happy knitting!
You have made so beautiful sweaters!
Thank you! 😊
This is so helpful! I haven’t gotten into playing around with gauge and stitch count very much yet, but I HAVE knit a very loopy, summer-weight, cotton ranunculus. You have given me some inspiration to perhaps knit up another one soon and not be so glued to the pattern this time. Thank you 🤗
Glad it was helpful! Cheering you on!
Thanks for a great video. I’m knitting my third Ranunculus and your modifications were very helpful to hear about. I don’t have much experience with garment knitting, so your specific details on how you modified yours gave me ideas on future knits. Cheers!
Glad it was helpful to you! Thank you for your kind words. Cheers!
Great video and very helpful Stephanie. 🙋🏼♀️🇦🇺
Thanks so much! You're welcome!
Lovely vlog very helpful ❤
Thank you 😊
Wonderful video and inspiration
Thank you!
Another great round up of your repeat makes! Thanks! This is super helpful. I knit a Ranunculus from the original pattern and wasn't happy with it at all, but have yarn for a summer version. I think I'm going to revisit the updated pattern and try again!
Thank you so much!! I’m glad you find the round-up and info helpful. Happy knitting!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on all your Ranuculus. I have the pattern and plan on casting one on.
You are so welcome! Excited for you!
I don’t have my yarn or tags with me but my first was a golden yellow and second a deep blue that my friend picked out. I have the teal my stepmother picked out for me to knit another for her. I am contemplating a cooler weather version for a 4th for a very knit worthy friend (who taught me to knit) using Magpie’s new Quartet Fingering base. It is plump and just might work… not sure if I will be brave enough to try the match up but certainly thinking about it. Maybe you can try it first! 😂
Hi! This has been extremely helpful! I LOVE the detail on Ranunculus
sweaters. I do not like the very loose short sleeve style. You posting this is very helpful to me! I have been knitting for years and slowly learning new techniques. I am knitting a worsted weight long sleeve, yoke, top down eyelet sweater. I saw the pattern on an episode of “ Grocery Girls.”
The body is done I am going to start the sleeves today. I am also working on finishing a quilt. I like working on both on the same day. Thank you,
again. You explain things very well.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for joining in on the conversation. Happy knitting!
Nice Ranunculus parade! I do love that pattern, and have made 4 of them, although only 2 for myself. I have actually been working from the original pattern. Sort of. There was an addendum of sorts that gave instructions for larger sizes. I want to make more of this pattern, and use the updated version and your idea of omitting the short rows in the front!
Thank you! Happy knitting!
Loved your Ranunculus show and tell. I haven’t knitted one yet, but I can feel it coming. I was most interested in your comments concerning short rows. I have knitted the Love Note and it has no short rows. I love the fit of it. Wonder what would happen if all short rows were eliminated…
Hi Cheryl! The Love Note does have short rows but along the bottom hem. I have knit the Love Note with and without short rows (including adding them at the neckline). It's personal preference on desired fit for sure.
They are all so pretty. I have made one with linen quill but it’s too loosey goosey. I’m gonna try a fingering with smaller needle.
Thanks for the variety. It is a great pattern.
Thank you! I plan to knit one with linen quill held double at some point.
I really appreciated you mentioning the yarn weight & needles you used & # of stitches & rows. I’ve hesitated making a ranunculus because I didn’t want to be too loose & baggy or too open of a fabric. I like the way all of yours fit you & am going to aim for that type of fit as well! Thank you for this video!!
You are so welcome!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I've recently got the pattern and I'm excited to knit up different types of ranunculuses/ ranunculi.
Yay!!
Ranunculi 😂
What a beautiful collection of Ranunculus sweaters! 😍I have knitted seven of them, but gifted two. I’m still not done knitting this beautiful sweater!
Whoohoo!!! High five!
And thank you 😊
I love your version of the ranunculus with no short rows on the front. I’m not seasoned enough to know how to do this. 🥰
Thank you! Just skip those instructions in the pattern! After working the back rows, skip the front short row section, knit one round to resolve the double stitches and then continue onward to the textured yoke section!
@@EdibleThoughtsMakes thank you for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it🥰
💖💖💖
So many beautiful shirts and sweaters! I have been thinking for a long time to make a ranunculus but I wasn’t sure if it was easy or possible to modify it since I don’t want to use a 6 mm needle size. But seeing your lovely video has made me so eager to start my own ranunculus ☺️
You can do it!
I had not heard about that cotton/rayon/hemp Santolina yarn before and will have to check it out. I live in Texas, so I'm always looking for great non-wool options for summer, which is like 9 months long here.
Hey, Stephanie! Like you, I was not interested in the Ranunculus initially. It didn't appeal to me at all. However, after the bouquet you have shown us and a friend of mine churning out 2 that I like the look of, I am definitely giving the pattern another look!
Yay!!! Excited for you!!
Thank you so much for this video! On my list to knit for the new year is the ranunculus… the sizing has always confused me so I wait to cast it on… do I just pick a finished circumference with the amount of ease I like? I think I just need to jump in and knit it!
Thanks so much for going over all of your variations!
You’re so welcome! Yes! Look at the finished circumference options and pick one with the ease you want. Just be mindful of yoke depth and sleeve circumference and make adjustments as needed!
I bought the pattern a year ago and it’s still lying in the desk drawer as I don’t understand it , I admire your skill and dedication and I hope to find some videos on how to make it x
You probably won’t find a step by step guide on making the sweater since it is a paid-for pattern. That being said, the designer has many video tutorials linked for different methods used in the pattern. Hope you find what works for you!
Check out Sun Dragon Tips & Tricks UA-cam playlist for the Ranuculus - she (Rebecca) has step by step instructions for each section - really helpful!
You are SO clever. I like how you thought of the different seasons while knitting this pattern over and over again.
Thank you so much Stef!
Nice! I have one with no sleeve and the neck line bothers me. Thank you because I think I know why now 😆 Mine is knit in Juniper Moon’s mako cotton.
Glad to be helpful! Thank you for watching!
Thank you for sharing. This was very helpful. Do you think the pattern is beginner friendly? I've only knit socks and a single cable vest so far. Will the lace be difficult?
Thank you for watching! I'm not sure what criteria one would use to assess a pattern's level of difficulty but I can say that I didn't find the instructions to be difficult to understand and there are lots of video tutorials offered (though I haven't used them). Best wishes!
Super helpful - thank you! Just checking: did you leave off front short rows on that last Ranunculus?
You’re welcome! Yes, no front short rows.
Thank you for your informative video. My reluctance to knit it, is , I don't want an oversized sack looking garment. But you have shown it doesnt knit up as such.
You are so welcome!
I’ve only just bought the pattern 😊
Hope you enjoy it!
Hi Stephanie. I just bumped into this video and now I'll need to follow your channel, and knit a Ranunculus! Could you talk to me a bit about ease. When I heard you say that the smallest size is 46" I was immediately put off. But you are petite and it works for you, clearly. I have a 34" bust and don't like things that are super oversized. I know you said you knit the size 1 in all cases. Are you sweaters 46" at the chests? One of them you said is 39". Did you knit everything to a different gauge than the pattern calls for? I can see that would work but then also starts to get complicated....any intel you can provide on this front would be appreciated! I love how yours fit on you - they do not look oversize, just nice and comfortable with drape. Thank you!
Hi welcome! All the Ranunculus sweaters have the Ravelry project pages linked in the description box so you can find all the details on gauge there. I do believe I noted their gauges on the screen in the video as well. And with varying gauges, the resulting positive ease varied.
Because the pattern is written for such a loose gauge, there's a lot of wiggle room to size down with a tighter gauge. You just need to know your preferred yoke depth to see if you need to adjust that section when knitting the pattern (and so that the arm holes end up being at a circumference you like). In general, I feel that with airier fabrics, more positive ease doesn't feel as cumbersome as more dense or heavier weight fabrics with that same amount of ease - but it varies by preference!! Hope that helps!
@@EdibleThoughtsMakes Thanks so much for your helpful and quick reply. I was thinking that the fact the yoke depth/underarms aren't so far off of where your underarms actually are is likely a big part of why the fit is so nice and doesn't seem big and shapeless. I will definitely give this pattern a try -- you know, along with the other 22K Ravelry knitters! Thanks again, your variety of takes on this pattern is inspiring and helpful to see. Can't wait to see your next one!
@mgy32 you’re welcome!
A great overview. Approximately how long does it take for you to knit one?
Thanks! No idea. I am not a monogamous maker so I’m always rotating between projects!
Hi, love your videos, how did you do short rows just to back without getting a whole ? 😊
Thank you so much! I use German Short Rows and just pull that double stitch pretty tightly! If the stitches are still a little wonky in that area after resolving the double stitches, I'll use a yarn needle and gently even out the tension between the stitches around it.
different type of project but the same idea as far as evening out the tension in the stitches in looser areas: ua-cam.com/video/n0M46vyAsiY/v-deo.html
Isn't there any vdo of Ranunculus.. This looks so good that I would like to make one.. As am not so good at knitting I would like to learn making a one. Pls help.
It is a paid-for pattern. The pattern comes with multiple videos on different techniques. You need to purchase the pattern and if you have additional questions I would recommend asking the designer.
Have you found any other pattern that has the fiber flexibility of the ranunculus?
First that comes to mind is the Love Note by Tin Can Knits.
Forgive me for missing it, but what size did you follow? I knot that you adjusted needle and gauge for the yarn but I am curious what size? Thank you.
Size 1!
You mentioned that you increased # of raglan rows to increase the yoke depth of your summer purl soho Santolina ranunculus. Did you therefore continue increasing?
I knit additional rounds since I needed a deeper yoke. I did not continue to increase stitch counts because I did not aim for a bigger circumference.
How do you then continue to form the “raglan” without the increases?
I tried and tried and tried. Frogs! I did not like how the fine yarn looks on the 10 needle. Looks like a messy set of knots. How would I adjust for a smaller needle? So when you used finer yarn and smaller needles, did you count according to the pattern???
I will not be able to thoroughly answer your question in a comment and recommend you search google or UA-cam for something along the lines of “how to modify a sweater gauge”
You might still achieve pattern gauge with a less holey fabric by using thicker yarn too if you prefer. Otherwise there’s a little math involved if you change up gauge and needle size.
Si you have a suggestion to skip the eyelets
You could try omitting them and replace with a knit stitch or replace them with something else like a bobble but maybe try it out on a swatch first. Lace does bloom out, so I’m not sure how it would affect the gauge in that section of the fabric. Having not tried that before, I don’t have any suggestions to make that I have done!
I wish somebody would go into the stitch counts, the pattern does NOT in any meaningful way. Very frustrating!
If you are having issues with the pattern, I would recommend contacting the designer for pattern support. Usually designers have a way that they can be contacted by email should you have questions about the pattern.
