Great vid! I also see lots of people just "throwing pistons in"...its great that you brought to light the importance of ring end-gap.On a side note though,i usually measure the bore before measuring end-gap and measure end-gap where the bore is smallest....usually it is smallest and least out-of-round just above the transfer ports or somewhere close to the center of the stroke.just thought id mention that.thanks and keep bringing on the great vids!
im no master mechanic and I'll probably catch hell, but i thought that checking ring gap was a absolute no brainer?! thanks for all your videos..love this channel.
PowerModz sounds awesome! I think I'm gonna go with RKtek when I rebuild the top end of my 16 RMK. So far I've got about 4500km without issues, but I'd like to change the pistons as a precaution. Are you having issues with the motor mounts on your turbo? Mine are worn, and I feel like it doesn't perform as good as it usually would do.
hate to be that guy.. but technically your doing it wrong.. if you apply side pressure to the ring it can get warped. better to use a file and pull it back and forth across with just the ring tension or use the tool made for it
Should file from the inside out, if that was a moly ring that would be destroyed now. Not trying to sound like a douche Louis. I love your videos.... You should get a ring file machine, you do enough top ends.

Next time if you are doing big bore, maybe Terra Alps racing?
I saw you in Carlton place today
Nice toque I just work with Chris Evans down in Cranbrook
ring end gap thats ok but now when ur done for the gap you have to file the end so you have no sharp edge (debure)
What kit do you recommend for the 800 cfi ass far as reliability goes. Have you tried the ssi kit? Thanks
Do you have to do anything cylinders before putting in rk tek pistons. Thanks
thanks for that
No Problem Dave!
so Kelsey switched from the German pistons to wesco?
Is that the kit that comes with the spacer?
Do you still have any of the iqr's?
What year is your rev
Where is that chainsaw mounted on the bicycle???? LOL
Kids do better than the adults on the camera work!!!
if you had a tight ring gap, would you have an issue right away? or could you run it hard for 1200miles and not notice a thing?
Lol that sounds like someone may have not checked their gaps...😏
TheHerb lol no no - that's the first thing i do, just curious. never seen a failed engine due to ring gap issue
Too tight will break your piston when overheating
How would I know what size gap to go with i have a 2010 Dragon 800 rmk ?
Your ring gap will be listed in the manual. .
How do you like those RKtek pistons, are they holding up?
Ujarneq Sørensen I abuse them best I can with no issues.

do you know if the gap needs to be smaller or larger with a turbo?
it needs to be to the manufacturers specs.
Typically larger
How long did this piston kit last?
Still going
Did I miss something? Why the new top end?
Trying out his new pistons - the others were fine.
welderteach low compression head to stop the detonating issue with the turbo

By directio do you mean from the center of the piston to the outside?
