    I read somewhere: whenever philosophy behind a task is taken out, the quality of work deteriorates. This is why I think Big Mike is an absolute philosopher when it comes to training. He reinforces this very fact that I just mentioned above. He always brings out interesting and logical concepts. For example: like why it's not just about A to B-eing the dumbell bench and it's more about letting the weight sink in, getting the back contracted using the inertia and then throwing up. I am glad you started this channel and it's helping me a lot man. I've really improved my physique and feeling muscles working like never before, especially my back, triceps, and chest. Keep them videos coming man, I'm here for more wisdom 🙏

    You are correct on everything , 1000 per cent correct , on lateral raise, elbow higher than the hand on an/ad duction.also shoulders move independent of torso, most people in gym can’t do this, on the chest press, people in gym unless they come from gymnastics or mma etc can’t depress and retract the scapula, so just telling them to won’t help, they don’t understand why a pull up is a back exercise and they tell me things like they are using the lat pulldown machine to work their chest. They don’t have any resistance going into the ground, their feet are dead, they can’t even bend their knees and they stand with their feet touching each other and they don’t understand what we mean by working the negative. Again everything you say is brilliant , but I don’t think they can do it and they keep doing those ridiculous shrugs, they won’t lower the weight to learn the exercise because they don’t understand that unless you are learning the exercise the weight is insignificant. , like it’s not the weight it’s using the muscle the exercise is intended for sorry for the rant

    I think I overthought things so much over the years. I’m feeling more stimulation and getting more growth now at 42 than ever using Mike’s techniques. I always tried to “ use” the muscle too much I guess if I’m saying it right. You can’t really use your chest in a press. You’re using your hands and arms. Same with my back. When I try and contract my back during a row I think I’m making it hard on myself instead of just driving elbows back and pulling and letting the contraction happen on its own

    On the dumbbell press, are you engaging lats as well(similar to the first exercise) to push the triceps off of? Keeping elbows in?
    Elbows in keeps my shitty shoulder happier.

    But this lateral raises (I love it no problem) doesn’t emphasis on the front delt more than lateral delt ? Baised on the path of the movement ? Simple question
    Thanks a lot for all you do

      Buddy it’s a lateral raise.

    • @baconblaster6422
      @baconblaster6422 3 місяці тому +4

      It’s never front delt dominant if your side delt is stacked on top of your front delt at the end range/top of the movement . Which should always be if you are actually keeping your thumb lower than your pinky. The forward lean and shoulder pulled forward I think is better to keep your trap out of the movement , it doesn’t really alter front delt to side delt ratio IMO. Also think it helps enforce lifting more in the scapular plane. Whenever I tried standing more upright and lifting completely horizontal on a lateral I’d always get traps more and general rotator cuff pain. Much prefer the Mike way of doing it

      The side lateral is easy to do incorrectly plus the shoulder being the least stable joint in the body and prone to injury, there are many other ways to train shoulders, that are safer, i.e.pike push ups etc
