    Mike 1000% accurate on the Hammer Strength

      70% of machines at my gym are HS. None of them are useful unless you learn how to "hack" them and use them, probably not as intended, but still. Wonky as shit. The lat pulldown and the incline are practical jokes.

      Its good that he actually point it out. Not many people actually notice the biomechanic side

      I actually feel this specific version of hammer incline than anything else. It also depends with your individual biomechanics

    Mike makes these videos
    1. Because he loves us
    2. Because he's genuinely disgusted with us all 😂
    When those two forces combine, it makes for one of the best training channels available on the internet. Your automatically cool if Mike is on your team.

    Been watching a this channel for around 18 months.. very novice (and still novice) lifting knowledge. My physique has changed drastically and I’ve gained a little over 40 pounds. Listen to this stuff. It fkn works

      Sounds like you might be overdoing the calories, 40lbs is a lot of weight to put on naturally in that timeframe

      Sorry to be the one to tell you but I get the feeling that’s caused more so by a calorie surplus

      If you know anything about exercise physiology, you know you're watching the wrong guy. Your progress is probably more likely due to hard work, caloric surplus, and novice gains. Good luck though bro, you're killing it!

      @@kw1213 well a number of factors play a part. I achieved this from 3,000 calories a day. Big part was quitting smoking and skipping meals. But still can’t go understated that moving well really makes a difference

      @@justinobrien1097 thank you for the encouragement ! I can agree to disagree on watching the wrong guy in terms of building muscle. Definitely wasn’t attempting to make it seem like the gains have been solely due to his videos but I’d also be lying if I said this stuff didn’t help a whole lot. Many ways to bake a cake my brother. Thanks again!

    My coach uses spacers for the Incline Presses, could be Fat Grips in there, rubber block, whatever we can find kinda thing. But it helps with that immediately needing to press and be locked in as you sit. Kuba has a machine that has a drop bar so the set up has the weight already about halfway up. Super nice for exactly this kind of issue for the Hammer Strength incline

    To Hammer Strength credit they do make a good machine flat bench

  • @timarnold2544
    @timarnold2544 5 місяців тому +1

    First, you have completely changed the way I do chest and at 46 I finally have some chest development. But I think you missed the inward squeezing that hammer strength offers vs a barbell especially when you talked about the motion extending straight out. The machine has a limited range of motion as the handles collide. Your point of just using the hammer strength incline is still well taken. It has its place.

    I never could get the activation and tension I wanted on this machine. I believe something in biomechanics isn’t right for this machine, everybody loves it, I prefer it much slower on lighter weight to at least get something beneficial from this machine.

  • @boz837

    Have that machine at my primary gym. Its really awkward to use. I like the life fitness one better with the double stacks but its still awkward. Nothing beats a press where you can push forward while sitting upright and changing angles.

    @5:14 - I love machines that make the weight heavier via using leverage. Less plates to load and unload. But the Machine Makers know that most gym guys love to have a shit tonne of weight on their machines, so they built them the opposite way 😅😅

  • @MrDW72

    quick question: what does Mike mean by driving out of lat and elbow when pressing? How’s the lat involved in this movement?

    • @kw1213
      @kw1213 5 місяців тому +2

      Next time you set up for a press think about pulling your scapula back and down and you will automatically be flexing your lats and that's always the best and safest way to press through chest.

    • @justinobrien1097
      @justinobrien1097 2 місяці тому

      He overcomplicated things on purpose to make himself sound smarter. Depress your scapula (squeeze shoulder blades together) and drive with your lats.

    I totally hate the hammer strength chest press machines. The reason wtf do they all start so bottomed out? Great way to mess your shoulders up if you have long arms.

    First of all, it’s not about heavy and raw, as back in the day, they didn’t have the nice equipment you see today in most gyms. Second, if your goals are to lift heavy and complete 2-3 reps, then that is powerlifting and strength training, not lifting to have a great physique. Wanna be big guy checklist: arm sleeve tat ✔️ long beard ✔️ black tight clothes ✔️ a gut larger than their chest ✔️ no abs or definition ✔️ vaping in parking lot for pre workout ✔️. What a physique….lmao.
