    You guys at Chapman should sell your dented or messed up guitars that still work and play as b stock for those of us who are desperate for an .ml2 and love roughed up guitars.

      +Eric Frazer They do, through Andertons. I've got a B stock M L 2 for fifty quid off. Apparently it has a mark near the bottom strap post, I'm just getting my magnifying glass out. Can just about see it. Oh, and it plays great.

I write and draw with my left hand and play right handed guitars, but it's just that you use the two very differently . It's not a skill or anything, it's just how it functions for us.

    Hi Neiretha, the prototype ML-2 was shipped with a neck gauge that I like, but after some playing I decided that a slightly thinner gauge will be more appropriate for the average player. That's exactly what prototypes are for, there are absolutely no inconsistencies in the production ;-)

    not a prayers chance this is true i got 3 diff ml7s and had to send all three back do to shotty qc.... both ml7t had bad bad finish issues and one had a pickup that wad twisted...yes twisted.... my ml7s was beautiful but couldnt get the action lower then 2.5mm at the 12th no matter what i took it to a pro and he said the frets needed a level... not cool on a brand new 700 dollar guitar... with the new line coming out i really hope the qc gets better. i ended up sending them all back and getting a diff brand all together.

    Gerardo, I wasn't trying to be rude in any way. That was not my intention. I made a point that if you are going to show all the steps that take place during a quality check then include the intonation as well. Intonation goes hand in hand with tuning. It was just an observation that's all. I never said I can't intonate my own guitar. I don't think you're being rude. You're expressing your opinion and so was I. I live in a country with freedom of speech and have the right to express my opinions.

  • @jimmyv723

    I've always liked Gibsons but they really have priced themselves out of the game for a lot of payers. I also like ESPs a lot and their LTDs are great guitars for the money. I had an LTD MH1000 a year or so back that was a great guitar. I can honestly say though that when I do get an Electric again I will be getting an ML2. Gotta give Chappers props for doing a great line of guitars with the player in mind and letting them choose what they want. Great features at a great price and done right too.

  • @thedoc735
    @thedoc735 11 років тому

    your guitars will have more value and exclusivity if you keep the production numbers relatively small and customer interaction will remain much higher and much more personal. Contrast that against saturating the market were supply outstrips demand. Do you want to be 'encore' or 'martin'? You appear so passionate about your product, more 'porsche' than 'nissan'? more 'morgan' than proton etc?

  • @thedoc735
    @thedoc735 11 років тому

    I am thinking of buying this ML-2. However, I have asked several questions & made a few comments but interestingly the only 1 that chapman guitars answered was "where can I buy this?", but ignored all other suggestions & comments? If the company gets too big U can't communicate with all your buyers on a personal level any more, the money & the corporate side tend 2 take over from attention 2 detail & the guitar should remain at the heart of the operation, not money, small (company) is beautiful

  • @thedoc735
    @thedoc735 11 років тому

    ML-2 can this be fitted with a tremolo arm?
    In your design of the body (assuming you are holding the guitar as if you were playing it) I find that the top/back edge nearest the neck digs into my ribs and causes bruising and therefore it would be nice to see 'the waist' rear chamfer continued around that corner towards the neck (but not all the way to the neck i.e. phased out gradually). Hope you are listening Rob?

  • @MrPullthetrigger123
    @MrPullthetrigger123 11 років тому

    not really convinced with the quality control, #1 leave it to the guitar tech (Pablo) he may not be the best shredder but he knows better! wiped the guitar then you touched the guitar again. adjusted the height of the strings without checking intonation, then wrapped the guitar back again without wiping it down "again", then signed the box? how about electronics (opening the back plates), tuners, neck relief, fret buzz, tuning stability? No wonder my ML1 is always out of tune.

  • @smacman68
    @smacman68 11 років тому

    My latest online purchase was a disaster. When I opened the box, the headstock was spilit down the center. I was pissed. I sent it back straight away and they tried to jerk me around saying that I should have inspected it before signing for it! now who would make the Fedex guy stand there while you open the box and inspect it! Well, from now on, you will bet your ass I will. i don't care how long it takes.

  • @bbnatedogg
    @bbnatedogg 11 років тому

    Very true. Most people don't play their amps anywhere near their volume limit most of the time so a little drop in volume is no issue. I could see someone moving them very close if they're into real hard metal and want a very harsh and staccato tone, but it's not for me. I do usually place the bridge pickup fairly close. I don't have a measurement. I just start it low and raise it until I like the sound. It also depends on how strong the magnets in your pups are. Some pickups have weak mags.

    Can I just say I met rob in glasgow on his previous tour with dorje and a nice gent I couldnt have met. I had a fairly lengthy talk about the silverback and his attention to detail was evident and if hes putting this level of knowledge into his guitars also im sure youll get a quality product i know for certain if i get some spare cash sitting soon ill be looking at a black ml-2. It has all the specs from various guitars i own on one that i prefer the most. Thanks again for the chat rob!

  • @bbnatedogg
    @bbnatedogg 11 років тому

    I've used the dime and quarter technique too. It works pretty well. I like fairly low action. Not shredder low, but low. You just have to make sure you don't have your pickups too high or they will pull the strings too much and cause buzz. Having the pickups too high fucks up the sustain too. I used to put them as close to the strings as possible, until I realized what was happening. You can have the bridge PUP fairly high as the string tension there alleviates the string pull.

    This awesome!!!! it would be cool for a tuition about gear setup, effects pedal chaining ( Placement of dist, chours, delay ect. ) and A/B/Y switches, such as the bigshot and the twin city from radial, and also how to hook amps up to them and also Channel jumping and various other pro tips!! :) I know i would deeply appreciate your Knowledge and Insight about this overlooked bit of information. I thank you for your time :-)

  • @bbnatedogg
    @bbnatedogg 11 років тому

    contin: pushing down on the string at the 12th fret. You should just have a slight bit of space between the string and the 12th fret. Like that of a business card or so. This is assuming that your frets are level. If you have issues only on 1 or 2 frets, there's a decent chance they aren't. Lastly, if you have your pickups setup really high or close to the strings, the magnets can pull your strings down towards the frets and cause buzz and intonation issues.

  • @bbnatedogg
    @bbnatedogg 11 років тому

    You really don't need one. Just adjust the string height until you like how it feels. I usually just lower the strings as low as I can get them without having any buzz and then raise them from there if I wish to. You also want to make sure the neck is str8 without any string tension or has a slight downward bend when strung up to whatever tuning you play in. You can check that quickly by fretting thew low E at the 1st and last frets with different hands and then

    Getting a really close up look of the trans black and wow that's gorgeous. When I get this new job, I know what I'm getting. The price for the ML-2 plus shipping to the US is AMAZING. And I'll definitely give it a metal test. Though, Chappers can shred wayyy better than me. But it'll be a consistent metal guitar for me. I really really want this. Props to you Rob! They truly look amazing.

  • @bbnatedogg

    Theoretically, those things should've all been checked at the factory before it left. Maybe they're just giving it another quick once over? I've never played one, so I have no idea. Anyone who isn't a beginner should learn how to do these things anyways. There's more than enough info on the net to learn how. None of it's hard to do, with the exception of fret work.

  • @themuzzgroove
    @themuzzgroove 11 років тому

    Its good to know that each guitar is checked over and played before shipping. I once bought a guitar from a major retailer online (whos name is similar to an American teen TV show) where it was obvious that no one gave a toss, as I could'nt even plug a guitar lead into it, as the cable from the jack socket inside the guitar was blocking the socket.

    Chappers, a question. On this video you say your neck is thicker. Is there a way to specify neck thickness when ordering, or is it just normal variations from the plant? I ask because I like thicker necks like you do but don't want to order an ML-2 if it is a skinny neck profile. Much respect...

    If I my ask why are the necks on such a big angle and the pickups raised WAY up out of the body. Seen some pictures on the MLF as well...

    I quite like the position markers. It still looks sleek and professional like the mostly blank fretboard, but it's much more useable.

    Are you planning to add transparent pick guard? Unfortunately, my pinky will scratch the body.

    I bought a ML-2 Classic used. I have major fretbuzz on low E. How to approach?
    Great sound aside from that?

    Chappers. Where on earth can you get the action gauge Bea is using ?! By far the best looking action gauge ruler ive ever seen !

    You should really slacken off the string tension before making any action height adjustments.

    Hey Bea! I notice you write left handed, but play left handed. Why? I only ask because I'm a left handed, but I play guitar right handed.. I play righty because that was the only type of guitar that was around. I was wondering about why you kinda took the same path.

      Must have something to do with his Dad.
      His Dad's also a guitarist, who I assume is right handed (or at least has the same approach as yourself and Rabea) after seeing his Strat in one of Rabea's videos and I'm guessing that's what Rabea started playing on.

    You guys at Chapman should sell your dented or messed up guitars that still work and play as b stock for those of us who are desperate for an .ml2 and love roughed up guitars.
