    @robMD2010 You're right on the money mate, silly mistake about the factory but annotations have been put in now :) Honestly I knew this would cause a few questions mate, but you raise a valid point. I myself have never received a tiny screw driver. But then again before the ML1 I hadn't received a guitar that was collaboratively designed. Although may be a new idea it still could have happened, I really could not fault the guitar in any other way for the price. I just don't believe in 10 / 10

  • @patdavidmusic
    @patdavidmusic  13 років тому

    @Overwatch93 I ordered one. and i never played it before.
    I've been after a good single cut for a long time now, it's great.
    I'd try and find someone in your local area that has one,
    Or if you do buy and don't like it, because there are only 200 or so of them in the world,
    i reckon they'd have a strong resale value,
    Pat

    @robMD2010 I should just explain a bit buddy. I see this guitar being near perfect for the price. But really if you did a few small changes you could really turn this blank canvas in to your ultimate guitar

  • @patdavidmusic
    @patdavidmusic  13 років тому

    @GuitarmanIeuan Still time to save buddy! Or maybe Andertons have lay buy options, it is a hell of a guitar for the price, nice blackouts are cool man. They sure do mate, the stock pickups are plenty hot enough \m/

  • @patdavidmusic
    @patdavidmusic  12 років тому

    honestly i took the same plunge no one had them in australia when i got mine but i'm glad i did, there's some b stock ones at andertons going for very cheap at the moment!

    @patdavidmusic  13 років тому

    @stringslayer97 you can pay a little bit more and get the ML2 custom i think buddy, you can actually get a single coil put in if you like :)

  • @patdavidmusic

    @SomethinWild it's surprising mate, i really hadn't used the middle position a lot before, it helps that these pickups are quite bright

    @YellowDiDi95 yep yep made in china, i made a note of that in the description and through annotations sorry for the confusion

    Nice review! I'm still waiting for my ML-2 custom and it's really getting tough. a couple things to correct in the review though. the factory that built the ML-2s I believe is in China, and I'm not sure if you have, but I've NEVER gotten a little screw driver to adjust intonation with a guitar. Only Allen keys. I'm not sure it's fair to down-rate the guitar for something that I've never seen come with one.

    I'm pretty sure that the second run comes from Korea. They changed factories. I don't exactly know when they did, though. What makes you say they're coming from China? I've been following Rob on UA-cam for almost a year, I saw most of his videos, and I don't ever recall him saying anything about China in regards to his guitars.

  • @noviguitars
    @noviguitars 13 років тому

    @patdavidmusic I completely understand the -nothing gets a 10 out of 10 rating- policy, and I completely agree. Nothing is perfect, and I'd never expect a $350 guitar to be anywhere near it, (but I secretly hope it is). Thanks again for the review.

  • @GuitarmanIeuan
    @GuitarmanIeuan 13 років тому

    Great review, very informative ;) I would get one but I don't have enough money :( Would get a custom one with maybe some active pickups like Blackouts or something. Do the stock pickups have a high output?

  • @MicHardesty
    @MicHardesty 11 років тому

    Ah. I feel like the more weight a guitar has, the more control I have over it. When I play light weighted guitars standing, they just always seem to position themselves horizontally. Which I hate very much.

  • @cuznred
    @cuznred 12 років тому

    the guitars look and sound awesome, don't let poor quality asian craftsmanship fuck up your design. Their is no word for quality control in asia, why??? Because quality control doesn't exist there. Make them in the UK

  • @EmgNFLD
    @EmgNFLD 11 років тому

    What guitar would you compare the neck shape to? Is it any close to say a Jackson or PRS because that would be ideal for me. Probably gonna post this on the MLF to and see if anyone can help.

    he is doing reissued models of the ml1 and 2 they come with a maple veneer options like sunburst, better pickups along with some other things u can see him unboxing the prototypes on his channel

  • @AlfredRome
    @AlfredRome 12 років тому

    Hey man, could you help me out? I can't decide if I want this ML2, or a PRS SE Custom 24 (2012). In a way it is a silly question, but Chapmans are meant to be pretty damn good.

  • @TheAngello120
    @TheAngello120 12 років тому

    Specifically the LP shaped model, the headstock and logo , wood grain finish all very GS' looking. Having owned a couple of the GS-1 models (LP junior style ) I admire them a lot

  • @pacovl46
    @pacovl46 11 років тому

    I did some research and the first run was definitely from China and there were some quality issues. They were also a lot cheaper. I think the ML1 sold for 199 pounds.

    japanese guitars are just as good as top end american guitars and european guitars. Korean guitars are the best guitars you get for the price you pay for them

  • @SomethinWild
    @SomethinWild 13 років тому

    @menuuzer Thanks for your reply. Well, I never played funky so I wouldn't know, still I consider the wood choice (mahogany) and the shape (LP) as a non-funky equipment. On the other hand, who knows, it could turn out great.

    Since this video was made there have been a few changes. The tone control incorporates a push pull coil tap and when in the coil tap position the middle position of the pickup selector puts the pickups out of phase. Lovely guitar, easily on a par, in fact better,( ease of access to upper frets plus the aforementioned mods), in many ways than my L. P. Custom, at four times the price

    I to am from Australia and wish to purchase an ML-2.. I have a few questions regarding pricing, first of all how much was shipping from Andertons to Australia? Aswell as you said in the video you paid 350 pound but the ML-2 is going for 450 now on Andertons.. has the price gone up?
    Thanks

    • @patdavidmusic
      @patdavidmusic  10 років тому

      Hey buddy, I think the reason the price has gone up is because now shipping is included in the price, i bought this guitar almost three years ago now so the shipping price is a bit of a hazey memory but i'm pretty sure it was about $100, this would make sense if there is a price increase on the actual guitar - to cover the cost of shipping, Pat

    I have a flame top ML2 and love it! Only problem I had was the Alpha pots were noisy and scratchy..had to be replaced with switchcraft right away. Also had to do a fret polish and some filing on the edges, I'm from Michigan, I imagine the neck shrunk a little to cause the frets to seem elongated and sharp at the edges. After that , it has become one of my show or performance guitars (I gig pretty heavy across the USA)..and for the money ,I can't find another guitar that is as close to player ready as this one! I put my Les Paul away..The guitar is quite heavy though , but for a one piece Mahogany body with maple cap and 1/4 sawn neck..It's expected. I just wish they would incorporate better pots and switches. Great video!

    • @patdavidmusic
      @patdavidmusic  8 років тому

      Me too! Sadly a lot of guitar companies skip out on decent pots and switches!

  • @Flyxolydian
    @Flyxolydian 10 років тому

    Given that price has gone up by £100, would you still give it a 4.9? I mean, it still seems like a good price for what you get.
    Also, what is the playability like on the higher fret? Given that it is based on a LP design, I always had trouble getting access right up there due to the mahoosive neck joint when I had a LP. I'm looking at switching from an Ibanez to one of these so ideally I'd like to be able to move over the fretboard with the same freedom.

    • @patdavidmusic
      @patdavidmusic  10 років тому

      I still think the guitars are great value for money, they come with the normal LP issues of being a weighty axe and a bit body heavy but otherwise still good value
