Hello and thank you for checking out my video! In order for the Sony A7C to talk to the gimbal you need to enable PC Remote in the camera menu system here: MENU → (Network) → [Smartphone Connect] → [Smartphone Connection] → [Off] MENU → (Network) → [Transfer/Remote] → [PC Remote Function] → [PC Remote] → [On]
This is by far the best video on how to setup this gimbal, especially for a beginner. I appreciate all the details and what I most appreciate is the why. Understanding why I’m doing something really makes it sink in more for me. Thank you for putting this together. I have saved it as a reference as I get used to how to use this thing.
Beyond any step by step I've watched, this was SO professional, and I am very grateful for your efficient level of detail and close ups of every stage!
WATCH THIS!!! I purchased my DJI RSC 2 today and I watched this video today too - I can walk away comfortably knowing how to assemble, calibrate, and manipulate modes from this video. Thank you, Jason! Proficiency will come with time/practice, but this video is where any new user needs to start. I will definitely mark this video to reference again.
This has the best explanation I've seen as to the "why" when it comes to balancing the camera, in particular the emphasis on lining up the mass of the rig with each motor. I've been using a gimbal for a while now and basically winged it each time, dealing with the frustration, but this clarified things to a degree that connects everything for me. Great job!
I had to rebalance the gimbal 3 times, first the camera alone. Then I forgot that I had the raveneye, so i had to balance with it and then I remembered to focusmotor had to be balanced again. One good thing though at the third time I had no problem balancing it and the ronin app said everything works fine. So I am quite happy in the end. But yeah when someone has no clue it can be daunting.
This was the BEST tutorial I’ve seen for setting up a gimbal. I am a new gimbal user and didn’t have a clue what to do. I appreciate you going above and beyond for us “beginners.” You are appreciated! Thank you.
Dude I just spent like an hour and a half trying to watch other videos and figure out the calibration for this thing, and watching your video helped me so quickly and made me understand the process way easier. You’re a freaking life saver, my guy
I'm really glad it helped, and when I was learning how to use the gimbal I had the same problem trying to find a tutorial that worked for me at that time. So After I finally figured it all out I decided to create this for all those in need like I was about 2 years ago :) Thank you for the very kind words Austin and all the best, Jay
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I was discouraged until I watched your tutorial. I was like there is no way this gimbal can be this hard to use but now since your video I feel confident that I will be able to master it. again thank you
This is one of the best tutorials, period - covered all aspects of the gimbal. Setup, balance, menu options, dials and example usage including footage. Thanks!
I’m only half way through the video but just had to jump on and say how helpful this is and so well explained. Just did the balance test and it was excellent thanks to you. Feel very proud!!
I have to say this was the best set-up/how-to video for a gimbal beginner. Your thorough step by step was fantastic and I know you saved me and many others a lot of time and frustration! Well done!
Thank you for being so thorough and keeping beginners in mind. When you said how by the end of this we would know how to fully setup and use our gimble, it was so reassuring lol.
You are so welcome and I was really hoping saying that would ease your tensions ;) Trying to figure out one of these things from scratch is really a daunting proposition... Thank you very much for the kind words and all the best, Jay
Thanks for a beginner video. you explained everything with ease and showed everything in great detail with out going into much detail great job can't wait for part 2
Hallalujah! and thank you Jason. After the frustration of plowing through the manual and the several useless set-up-this-gimbal-in-3-minutes videos I found yours. Thanks for slowing it down, going through EVERY step (and substep) being so clear and talking to us in a way that is accessible. Too many guys want to sound like experts and the way you present puts us at ease and let's us know that there are no stupid questions. Loved the footage of your kids, they are naturals!
Was thinking of getting the RSC2 but I was afraid that it was too complicated to use. Thanks to this, I'll be ordering mine now. Good job on the tutorial slash passive marketing skills!
Thanks for getting me set up with my new rig! You are seriously gifted at breaking it all down. Knowing it was going to be above my technical pay grade, I grabbed my mechanical engineer husband to follow along with your video and really help me understand what you were saying about this new equipment. Thanks to your calm, descriptive approach--I'm feeling good about it and ready to apply it tomorrow at a home editorial shoot. Eeeeeks. (Still photos are my thing so I will predominantly snap those, but I'm secondarily going to attempt making a video of the house as well.) I appreciate you very much. Thank you, Jay. Keep up the awesome work. Best, Claire
Thank you very much Clair for the kind words and you will do fine!! The gimbal takes a decent amount of practice to get used to, so just be patient and enjoy the buttery smooth footage you are going to get!! All the best, Jay
Thank you, You are the first person that has explained how to setup a gimbal correctly. I am not going to lie, I thought this was going to be a painful tutorial but I actually really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work.
What an amazing, thorough, clear and perfectly paced and produced tutorial. It was so darn stressful and intimidating until I found your video. Thanks heaps.
This was a great tutorial. No fancy transitions, no fancy video cuts, just a guy, a camera and a great explanation of the device. I Needed This. I thank you. This was very beginner oriented and that's something most content creators don't do in as much detail as he did. Anyway, great video.... oh, the kids stole the show lol. Thanks again.
I loved your tutorial. I could not figure how to even mount this thing with the manual. I almost gave up. This is better than the manual. The pacing and angles were great. I was truly a beginner.
Just BRILLIANT ! Your video is a “life-saver” ! At the age of 81 - “logic” does not come into focus as much as it used to ! This video is better than any DJI tutorial! Thank you 😂😂😂
Very thorough as usual! Love your content! You showed quite a few “hidden” functions that can be triggered by various buttons combinations 👍 1 mode I think DJI should add by default is the tilt follow.
I just wanted to say thank you, I felt like I was looking at a rocket ship when I tried setting mine up and was overwhelmed, but you helped me and I just wanted to show my appreciation for your time and help by saying thank you. Have a good day.
Best tutorial I’ve found for this gimbal! Well done. I’ve just bought one to film with a Nikon Z6 but the record button on the gimbal grip only works intermittently. Any ideas ?
Big shout out to Jason. Thank you very much for putting so much effort in that detailed video! this is the only video that helped me to understand the gimbal and its workflow. i would be delighted if you uploaded part 2. As part 1 was already extremely helpful! thank you so much.
Absolutely amazing tutorial/review! Just got mine and by following this I was able to understand all the different modes so easily in such a short amount of time. Def subbed. Can't wait to check out the next one on the app features.
I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for this tutorial! I followed along step-by-step with my new gimbal easily without any issues - loved how you explained it so clearly THANK YOU!
What a great tutorial. No issues at all from this end. Step by step and BOOM, it works. I appreciate this as a coach. Excellent communication and demo.
Thankyou Thankyou!! I've had this gimbal for 6 months and have had so much trouble understanding how to use it. I gave up until I came across this video.
I can't thank you enough for this. My UA-cam channel took off before i had the time to learn hot to use my camera equipment right. So these tutorials are clutch
By far best tutorial I have ever seen. Thank you. I have spent hours trying to figure out how to use this. I love how you went to in detail, I truly believe that is why I was able to get it! Thank you!
I'm looking for a gimbal for my a7c with the same 20mm haha so glad I found this video and glad you go through all the little things! I'll be back when I get the gimbal :)
Thanks Molly, but keep in mind with the A7C, the taken photo function still does not work due to the USB-C only connection for the A7C. I mentioned this in the video, but you might have missed it. It's not that big a deal, but time-lapse mode for example won't take the photos for you like it's supposed to. The record button and focus works though. I was hoping for a firmware update to fix this, but have yet to see one from DJI. I still think the gimbal is a fantastic option however!
I MUST SAY! I recently purchased an A7IV and I have watched all your videos they are extremely helpful. I am a beginner and you are an amazing teacher. Thank you for these videos.

Very nice video! I have one question. I have a Sony A7RIII but when I plug in the USB cord from the RSS port on the gimbal to the camera. My camera stays in USB Mode MTP. How do you get this off your camera. Thanks in advance
I had my rsc2 for awhile now, but its always good to get some tips and refresh your memory on the settings and balancing ,it was refreshing to watch and even went through the settings and learned a thing or 2..ty!
Fyi in case you haven't noticed: photo shooting is not compatible with USB-C to USB-C connection. It has to be using USB-C to micro-USB cable which comes with the gimbal. That's why we're not able to shoot photos using A7C pairing with this gimbal as A7C doesn't have micro-USB port. I'm wondering whether should upgrade my Ronin SC to this RSC2 after watching your comprehensive tutorial. Thank you for sharing & you're doing really a good job. Appreciated!
Your video helped me decide to buy this rig. I got the pro version with Raveneye, and focus motor. Now that I’ve had it a few days, I’m back again to go through the various modes. The instructions that come with the gimbal, and the online ones from DJI leave much to be desired. You demystify this awesome rig, and I will keep this video saved for quick reference. One thing I want to explore is how it will work with my small shotgun mic. Once again, great job! BTW: I have it paired with a Canon R7. The DJI site doesn’t list the R7 as compatible yet, but it works fine. Just an FYI for others with the same camera.
Thank you so much ! I had such a difficult time understanding everything in the manual and you explained it so flawlessly and easily ☺️ ! Even the reasons were explained so simply by you. As a beginner I was able to understand each and everything ! All thanks to you 😃❤️
