My name was in the draw! So that was exciting--Mary Ellen, your prize is lovely! Yes, the pinecones give a handsome effect (unlike the walnut shells), and the treatment made the very most out of that bit of beautiful burl. A pleasure to see.

First, congrats on 90k! I watch several turning channels and I believe only one of them is over 100k. Well done. It's obvious why people subscribe...you make amazing art! This week's project is very cool! I love the pine cones, they give the finished project so much interest! I also love the addition of the lid. I've run out of good things to say about your projects... The idea of fossils gave me an idea. It may be a bad one but I'll email you.

I think it would be interesting to make a globe. The random wood parts being the land areas and a blue and white swirls for ocean and clouds. Maybe make the globe split around the middle so you can lift off the top half to reveal a polished interior. Doesn’t need to match Earth, can be a totally imaginary alien world. 🎉❤

I keep mishearing "Tripple E" as "Tripoli", like we're importing buffing compounds from Barbarossa.
Resin is a truly versatile material. It's really neat how it lets you make stuff out of otherwise unusable wood pieces. Never thought I'd see a bowl made of pinecones but you've done that quite a few times.

Love the inside of the lid more than the outside, but that’s just me. The pine cones add so much!
Would you consider a similar creation or hollow form using the pine cones standing, dark green over them & darkish blue above that? I think it might look like a forest at night. Maybe some streaks of pearl white would simulate stars. Very unique.

Absolutely gorgeous and great idea with the lid! I'll be watching this video several times, because I love resin/wood/pinecones. Someone's going to be very lucky--congrats to them in advance and congrats to you for a job well done!!!

Mary is one lucky girl. I like complexity and interesting and this sure has both.
What I have been doing with cones, after cutting, is sealing them with lacquer a day ahead of time.
I use Alumilite and it sure doesn't like anything damp. I do split the cones on my fine blade bandsaw with a sled.
    Nice turn,
    Lee
