As an Etsy seller, I really appreciate what you’ve said in this video - when someone says to me ‘I could make it cheaper’, I just smile and say that I wish them luck and hope they have fun, I am committed to not devaluing my work or the work of others. Just because I can’t afford it, doesn’t mean it’s too expensive, it just means it’s out of my budget. I have a lot of yarn in my house so I’m now very tempted to try that lampshade!! It looks awesome.
Some ppl just have that mind set that they can make it themselves for cheaper I don't think it's ment to be an insult to the artist in anyway they're just crafty and like to make things...then again if they're saying it to you on etsy because they feel upset about the price then yeah that is insulting
Just as a note- sometimes yarn from secondhand places could have moths (even if the yarn doesn’t seem to have them) so you should put the yarn in a freezer overnight to kill any
Something I've done before is I put the yarn in the oven at 200°F for about 30 minutes, but take off the paper sleeve first. Also just a note - moths are more inclined to lay eggs in animal fibers like wool or alpaca (not as likely to choose acrylic) since the larvae will eat the yarn when they hatch. I still heat acrylic since it may have been kept with animal fibers and better safe than sorry!
Unfortunately if you don't have a chest freezer it can't really get cold enough for this to work, and either way it's at least 1 to 2 weeks. It needs to be - 20-25c for 1 week+ or - 18c for 2 weeks. In that time you can't be opening the freezer regularly. It's not workable for me so I use heat and/or vinegar. Wash yarn and textiles at 60c+ or steam it with an iron/clothes steamer, or soak in boiling water and cover. If I'm just steaming I use vinegar as well in case I don't get an area up to temperature. Store unused yarn in something airtight to prevent more moths.
Yes absolutely but not the exact same, adjust the size, design, ..a bit ( smaller, higher, more curved,...) And yes you could have asked 60, 70$ more & it would have sold just as fast. The ceiling chandelier is just bit overpriced by 40, 50$ I know these prices bc on a weekly basis I'm a lot on the internet scrolling & looking at similar items (on Belgian sites & intire Europ sometimes even the States) From particulier to professional sellers That's the only reason I say that about the price otherwise I would have shut my mouth 😊 🤘🏻❄️
When she placed the two stripped lamp shades on top of each other, I said out loud to my computer "oh my gosh I love it already!". I think I'm gonna be making a shade like that...as soon as I have a lamp to put it on. Nicely done! :D
I would pay $250 for the pendant light because it took you over eight hours to complete. Plus it was so well done. This is one of my favourite series. ❤
absolutely make another table! Or maybe a bookcase with those clay tubes, they are awesome! And I LOVE that lamp! If I was in Canada I would snap it up!! (And honestly, I am a bit surprised Becky hasn't tried to for her house, it would so match her aesthetic!!)
Bravo Rachel on Project Profit and all that you've been able to donate! Both projects this week are stunning! Yes, make another table considering all the interest on the first one. S.
Can I just say that every Sorry Girl that has been added to the "flock" are so lovely. I love Rachel and Rochelle. They are fun to watch and just as endearing as Becky & Kelsey. Way to go ladies! I love the bunch of you!
This made me have flashbacks to my pom pom wreath, same vibes with the stringing the lights forever and ever! The lampshade is gorgeous though, totally worth it in my opinion!
I think making another table but putting the clay tiles in the center to make a pedestal base would be kind of sick. Maybe a smaller coffee table or a pair of end tables like that. People really seem to like pedestal furniture right now. I also think them stacked organically on their sides could be cool as sculptural legs for tables or chairs or media consoles. Everything looked great. You smashed these !
I have 6 of those clay weeping tiles in my living room. I am growing bell peppers in them right now. My dad pulled them out of the ground when we renovated my childhood home. I keep them as nostalgia and well they make amazing pots for plants! This table though....What a cool way to use old weeping tile.
If you were able to make this amazing lampshade, then you can do anything, there are no longer any barriers for you☺ A few days ago I finished my lamp project, it was much more difficult than it seemed when I saw this in a picture. But your lampshade is a million times more difficult, bravo!!!
Beautiful! Your art hanging tip is right on because the rule of thumb I use and recommend (as a professional interior designer) is 60” to the center of the piece. And if you’re 5’-7” then your eye level is just about at 60!
I luv the string pendant light ! & honestly although I also luv the table, I probably cannot afford either hold fast to your price as long as you are donating to good causes all your hard work & brilliant ideas are awesome oh & luv your mug!!!💜
Pendant is gorgeous! And in terms of those clay pipes, I would have done a low open bookshelf--I think that would look so cool styled with beautiful drooping plants, books, and interesting objects. Great work as always, Rachael!
Congratulations Rachel, this series is wonderful. I love the lamp and table. You could definitely make another table since that sold so quickly. Loving your cheerfulness and thoughtfulness.
I made a lamp shade around 3 years ago but with some type of thick bamboo string and I think it wound up taking me around 8 hours total too and I almost wanted to give up. But I didn’t. And I still absolutely love it! I’ve been wanting to make another one and post it but haven’t lol. But I will one day! This inspired me!
Love both items that you made! I think it's so great that you are raising money for charity! More people who can afford to, should do this! You're an inspiration!
I'm so jealous because I never would have thought of using those clay pipes that way. And it's not like I can go searching for them in my own hometown because yours was such a find. But now that I've seen it on a table I can't help but think what a classy upgrade to the classic 2x4 and cinder blocks bookcase. If you used those pipes to be the standing legs of bookshelves they would become a display feature.
This lamp is BEAUTIFUL! I saw this on Facebook marketplace before this video went out, and it made me stop scrolling (even though I wasn’t looking for a lamp 😂). Your talent always amazes me!! 👏 👏 👏
I feel like you should finish the underside of the table as well. It's absolutely beautiful and then a person may lay on the ground and see the unfinished underside
I was thinking the same thing! I was hoping that it would get painted a contrasting colour but keep the grain on the top surface - although that might not sound appealing to everyone 😅
I love what you're doing and donating the money you make on the item makes it even more special. Great job. I haven't seen anything I wouldn't want. Great job. Merry Christmas to all of you.
Ooh the pendant diy! I have a lamp shade that's sort of like that style, but it's a tall skinny one and I'd really like it to be a wider/shorter one to be over my couch.
Rachel you are the Queen of DIY! Love how you nail all your inspiration DIY’s these projects turned out AMAZING! Definitely make another table, can’t wait to see your next video.
Guys, such an awesome series, love it so much! Good for Rachel, she does an amazing job in both creating entertaining content and making a good earning for non-profits. A true Sorry Girl right there
I absolutely agree with giving the Etsy seller what they ask for. I just bought wallpaper for a PAX wardrobe for a nursery, so as a renter, I can give my baby a mural that can move with us and change as we grow. I got way too much wallpaper for the interior from Wayfare because I originally planned on doing the sides as well and then ordered an extra roll just in case (painterly birch trees) about $250. Ordered a mural wallpaper from an Etsy seller. They even printed it to size! About $400 (a painted forest scene). It's sophisticated looking, so again it's decore that can grow and move with us.
Use the table shelf and more clay tiles for an other table but do like a white wash on them. It could be in funky colours too, like Klein blue, hot pink, bright yellow... If you put a smaller pipe inside of them you could even stack them for side table height !
I agree with you re handmade stuff …if you want it and you can’t make it yourself appreciate the work and time and pay up Lol! 😂 ps I tried your wire wool vinegar technique to age some wood on a vintage workbench I was restoring on and WOW it worked a treat!! I love it so much I’ve kept it!! ❤👏
Pendant lights seem to be a lot harder to sell in general. My guess is that it's a combination of needing specific space and electrical to be able to install the thing and also just the task of instillation itself or having to call an electrician. This becomes even more true for those of us that live in rental spaces
On the off chance Rachel sees this, David's Teas has mugs shaped just like your favorite one and if I'm remembering right they have a double insulated clear one similar to the other one in the video😏

I agree, what one person thinks is too much may not be too much for someone else, its worth whatever someone is willing to pay.
Just as a note- sometimes yarn from secondhand places could have moths (even if the yarn doesn’t seem to have them) so you should put the yarn in a freezer overnight to kill any
Smart tip!!

Great tip for most things from thrift stores
Same goes for bed bugs. But for these leave the stuff for a week in the freezer

Make another table with the shelf of the old table!
100%, especially as there was so much interest.
Exactly what I was thinking! Only with just 4 legs, as it was smaller. :)
Agree!
Exactly what I was going to say. Cheers.

That light fixture is stunning. I’m glad you are waiting for a reasonable offer. Love this series! 👏❤️👏
Agree!! ✨💖

A cool designed wine rack would be kinda interesting with those clay columns! But that table was absolutely stunning! Great vision.

That lamp shade is so crazy good!!!!! Omg the way the colors blend is perfection!!!
My parents used to have the same clay weeping tiles and used them for wine too!
Can I just say that every Sorry Girl that has been added to the "flock" are so lovely. I love Rachel and Rochelle. They are fun to watch and just as endearing as Becky & Kelsey. Way to go ladies! I love the bunch of you!

I’m so glad you left the table top as is! It’s so beautiful!😍

Omg Im the same, I only prefer thin (porcelain, thin glass like) cups. They make my coffee taste so much better.
Projects keep getting better + better. Clay table, side table? Group 3 together to create a column lile base 🤓
I love that you didn't accept a lowball offer for the light fixture. It's definitely worth waiting for the right buyer.
That lampshade is legit. Good on you for holding out. If they want it cheaper, they can make it themselves.
This brings back memories. I made this type of lamp in the 80’s. The shape was less streamlined and included macrame knotting.
Wow! Really amazed that no one bought that lampshade! It's so mid-century modern and Scandinavian-looking.
This has quickly become my favorite series!!!
Both projects are completely amazing. You could definitely become a designer🎉❤
Beautiful! Your art hanging tip is right on because the rule of thumb I use and recommend (as a professional interior designer) is 60” to the center of the piece. And if you’re 5’-7” then your eye level is just about at 60!
I love this series! Awesome work Rachel! Just a note, I'd have covered bottom of clay pipes to prevent scratching floors. That's all
I luv the string pendant light ! & honestly although I also luv the table, I probably cannot afford either hold fast to your price as long as you are donating to good causes all your hard work & brilliant ideas are awesome oh & luv your mug!!!💜
love the lamp shade AWESOME and the table chefs kiss!🙄😲💋💋.
Table, lamp, vase? Those were so cool.
I love this series. Excited to see today’s.👏👏👏
Pendant is gorgeous! And in terms of those clay pipes, I would have done a low open bookshelf--I think that would look so cool styled with beautiful drooping plants, books, and interesting objects. Great work as always, Rachael!

Fave series on this channel!!❤
Loooove this series. Its been so helpful for some of my upcycling projects. Love Rachael and Rochelle on this channel such a good decision
I love both projects … great job and thank your for donating to worthy causes! ❤

I admit: I didn't think I'd like the lamp as much as I do 😍 great work!!
The lampshade is gorgeous 😍 Rachel is so creative 🥰
Literally one of your best DIY's Rachel. That lamp and the santa ornaments are my fave so far. And the no stain was a perfect choice for the table.
Love both items that you made! I think it's so great that you are raising money for charity! More people who can afford to, should do this! You're an inspiration!
this is my favorite series!
hand-made quality > Cheaper based quantity. Over 2 grand for charity! That's so awesome Rachael! Great Job :)

Rachel is just the definition of elegance ❤❤❤ and I just love this series more than anything else….
💯 understand the specific mug situation!
I love this series. Thank you, Rachel.
The crafting on the couch is such a cozy vibe❤

Seriously beautiful work again!! Really awesome Rachel 💗🙌🏻🌟
GORGEOUS lampshade!!
That table is amazing Rachel 🎉❤❤❤
I just made the gnome ornaments to put on my christmas presents for my family ❤
Best episode so far :) You should definitely get more of those tiles to make something else with!
That lampshade looks awesome!
The light pendant is stunning! I love it 💗 And the table looks amazing too!
The clay tiles also make really cool outdoor candle luminaries for summer garden parties and events
I absolutely love this series, Rachel ❤
I love this series!
I adore both projects and also your fabulous personality. Happy Holidays!
That shade is stunning !
Ooh this one is right up my alley, i ❤ it!
Your series is the best! Your projects have all turned out amazing!
I love this series so much!
Love love love the lampshade!

Happy Holidays Ladies! Pendant is stunning! Really like your project and recycling vibe.

I checked, they do, it's the double walled glass Nordic mug if your interested:)
Oh my god the shade!!!!!!!!
Make more tables if the seller still has them! Love that the profit goes to charity!
